We jump right into the hottest debate that is all over the internet right now: ARE SKINNY JEANS OVER? We both give our hot takes on which jeans we LOVE and which jeans we can live without. Don’t miss the latest news - Ella Emhoff and Amanda Gorman signed with IMG Models. You will recognize them from the US inauguration. Plus, we talk about how Alber Elbaz has created a whole new system of dressing. However, we deliberate whether or not Alber is really reinventing the way that the world is dressing. Lastly, Nolan has numerous updates – he's so busy that he feels like Queen B herself, Beyoncé. In This Episode: [03:00] We get fashion updates from Vanessa Friedman - the Chief Fashion Critic of the New York Times. Vanessa says that skinny jeans are over!! [08:45] Ella Emhoff and Amanda Gorman sign with IMG Models – YAS! [12:15] Alber Elbaz has created a whole new system of dressing… we’ll be the judge of that. [19:10] Nolan explains how he is cashing checks and snapping necks. [22:30] What Nolan is wearing this week. Key Takeaways: Skinny jeans are not out, and they never will go out. Frame are the best jeans of all time; they’re expensive, but you can find them on Poshmark. Alber Elbaz has a new brand; follow it blindly and trust Alber no matter what! Modeling is much more diverse now than it has been in the past – we are lucky to have Ella Emhoff and Amanda Gorman sign with IMG Models. When you're born with it, you don't need to show it off. When you buy them, it's okay that people see them.” -Nolan
Jendrik will sing "I Don't Feel Hate" for Germany at Eurovision 2021. He caught the eye of NDR's song contest casting agent by making a series of funny "How To Audition for the ESC" videos for his @mynameis_jendrik account on Instagram and TikTok. The "I Don't Hate" lyrics carry a strong message about responding to toxicity on social media — and life — with compassion. Hate is not your burden — that belongs to the person spittin' it! You can read more about the song on our web site: https://wiwibloggs.com/2021/02/25/jendrik-lyrics-i-dont-feel-hate-germany-eurovision-2021/262336/

You have a product or a service that you KNOW people need. But, you're not getting as many sales, and you know you want. You're settling for fewer clients than you could have. What's happening? And, what can you do that will turn the tide and give you a flow of new clients coming your way? I recently interviewed hundreds of women business owners who were experiencing low sales and noticed seven things they were doing that kept them from reaching their full income potential. I'll share these insights with you in this episode. One of these is a TOTAL game-changer. When you can overcome these reasons, you give yourself 7 ways to get new clients without feeling salesy… So, if some days you feel like you're settling for fewer sales than you're meant to have in your business, then what I'm about to share is for you. Our second ep in a row with the I Don't Even Own A Television crew features JW Friedman -- and a much better, fizzier film all around, despite dragging us back to Nawlins and almost going full zydeco. This "nearly totally frictionless" caper is "a happier flavor of so-so" than we anticipated, but we still have questions, like whether the Coens are secret Quaidheads, if/how Herbert Ross directs his actors, what an Ocean's Two would look like, and why we're being punished with a combination of Vince McMahon hair, Reagan voice, and Trump smug smile on DQ. Note: This episode contains stories that deal with death, frightening imagery, and mild violence. Listener discretion is advised. Adrienne and Katarina ride back into the podcast in their triumphant return from their holiday break! This week, they talk about Cat Clyde’s dark, indie hit, “I Don’t Belong Here,” and craft a set of stories you wouldn’t believe. Moved by the song’s feelings of self-imposed isolation and nomadic existence, Adrienne and Katarina found inspiration in an unlikely place for their tales: westerns. From a vengeful poltergeist who just wants to watch the world burn around her, to an exorcist cowboy trying to set things right, our stories this week are ones you’ll have to listen to in order to believe. Saddle up, listeners, you’re in for a wild ride. When I work with women to help them grow their businesses and build strong connection networks, Speaking Up is an essential key move I help them to master. Until we can get some mastery over our ability to speak up, we can fail to meet our true potential in sales, fame, the impact we have and our ultimate success. It takes speaking up to reach more people, to make more of an impact, and to get more results. If you want to make a dent in the world, you need to be willing to be seen AND HEARD. But that can be tough. Speaking up can make us feel vulnerable. We worry that someone won’t like us. Or that we’ll get criticised. This reluctance to speak impacts most people, but in particular women. Even hugely successful women. And that’s because a couple of things can happen when we decide to speak up in a more significant way than before. Say you’re now you wan to do Facebook Lives, or speak on stages, or create a podcast, or run an online challenge and you’re looking to go from where you are NOW to play a BIGGER GAME game. Firstly, you may feel a case of Imposter Syndrome, that feeling of ‘who do you think you are?’ and that you may get found out as being a fraud. The second thing that can happen is that what can show up is what author Steven Pressfield calls Resistance, which is that voice that says: “Stay safe. Stay small. You might get hurt if you reach too high. If you step out and speak up too much, you don’t know what might happen.” Asking for higher prices, asking for the sale, leaning into opportunities - all that requires you to get past this Resistance and to speak up. So, what do you do? How do you start Speaking Up more? In this episode, I share a powerful place to START speaking up more effectively. Take listen. I’ll be diving deeper into this topic at the Get New Clients Coaching Week from 8 - 14 March. I am, I can, I will, I do. These are the words Christine D’Ercole lives by. It’s the power of positive self-talk and affirmations that changed the game for Christine. She realized she could embrace her stronger body and encourage others to be true to themselves. Write Down and Repeat These Words to Yourself Often I am I can I will I do About Christine D’Ercole Christine D’Ercole is a decorated track cyclist who brings this expertise to every Peloton class. Grounded in science, music, grit, and grace, Christine believes that at all times you have two tools at your disposal: your breath and your inner monologue. In her class, you can expect Christine to empower Members to break through self-imposed limitations and embrace their authentic selves and strength, both on and off the Bike. The Mindset of Shifting Gears What Christine D’Ercole brings us today is not just a story full of mindset shifts and motivation, but a story of hope. She shares with us her experience with body image issues, stemming from hearing at twelve years old (yes, twelve) that she had talent, but wouldn’t be cast in the role unless she lost ten pounds. Her life spiraled after this point, through eating disorders, self-harm, and chasing careers that didn’t want her body type… or at least not yet. It wasn’t until she was working as a bicycle courier in New York City, clearly the fastest of the group, that she started to believe she had what it takes to be a professional cycler. Christine explains what mindset shifts she went through in order to embrace this huge change in her life. She describes it as though something insider her just switched gears (see what I did there?) and she went with that new motivation. Even when she left professional cycling after becoming pregnant, Christine adopted a more positive attitude towards her body. This doesn’t mean it’s always been smooth sailing for her, but that fake-it-till-you-make-it attitude was a blessing when she felt at her lowest. Positive Self-Talk is a GameChanger An absolute gamechanger for Christine came when she attended her first spin class with a really mean instructor. She knew she would give a more positive, fun, and uplifting class and within one month, she qualified as a spin instructor. Christine learned more about different types of muscles and why some are more suited for one type of exercise over another. She encourages you to figure out what type of exercise you’ll excel at and focus on that. Christine brings her positive attitude with her everywhere. She believes in the power of words and positive self-talk. Whether you’re repeating empowering statements to yourself in the mirror, writing down your power mantras and reading them aloud, or embrace positive affirmations in another way, the message is clear: Give yourself permission to live your life differently. Homework for Women Physicians How do you give yourself positive self-talk? Do you have a mantra writing practice? What’s your favorite empowering self-statement? Let me know in the comments on the episode page. In This Episode What mindset shifts have to happen for you to grow into what you’re zone of genius is [10:15] How you can adopt a healthy fake-it-till-you-make-it attitude [16:15] Why you should figure out your muscle type and excel at an exercise that prioritizes that [22:45] What the power of words and self-talk are [24:00] Why you should adopt a mantra writing practice [27:30] Quotes “Discovering that I could be successful because of myself - myself - not because of someone else’s opinion of me.” [8:39] “It is very hard for us because the messaging, the images, and the culture are so loud that we are supposed to look a certain way in order to be loved, to feel worthy, to be accepted. As though, if you don’t look this way, you should just give up. We should all be able to walk around naked-proud.” [23:00] “Saying these words out loud, writing these words down. We had the pleasure of sitting down with former producer of the Bachelor and Bachelorette, and current TV host and correspondent of E! Dublin’s Boomtown Rats surfaced at the London Gardens in March of 1980: my first live show of the new decade. They had been an obsession of mine over the previous 2.5 years since I had picked up their debut 45, the charging and furious “Lookin’ After No. 1,” on a trip to the UK in ’77. At this point, they were three albums in, superstars in the UK, and just coming off an international smash, “I Don’t Like Mondays,” which went Top 10 here in Canada.I kicked off a boatload of ‘80s gig-going in this freezing arena on a bitterly cold night (the bolt opposite of the Bob Seger steambath at this venue in 1978… so much for insulation), warmed up by an engaged and energetic Rats fronted by an animated Bob Geldof (“Sir” and Live Aid were years in the future). My pal “Special Guests”—then of London, Ontario, now of Leeds, UK—who you first met in Episode 3 on The Ramones, returns with his recollections and reflections on the evening.Stay tuned for onstage pyjamas, photo awkwardness, and how our present shapes the memories of our past. See the original 2010 blog entry here. NEXT PODCAST: I have already recorded episodes covering the next two live shows I saw post-Rats (EP 3, no.7—Here Today, Gone Tomorrow: Ramones with The Demics and EP 10, no.8—Once In A Lifetime: The Heatwave Festival ) and done a podcast discussing the two shows I was slated to see that fall but were sadly cancelled (XTC in November and Bob Marley in December, as featured in EPs 9A & 9B, no. 20b—Waiting In Vain: 22 Performances I Missed). So, my next podcast jumps into 1981 and the sole live gig I saw that year: the first of three Police Picnics, hosted by the titular group. It was the second of four consecutive summers where I went to a big open air festival. While those other fests were more degenerate and adventuresome affairs, this was a more pop-and-pizza/June-Cleaver-style experience for us. And while free of mind-altered shenanigans, this first Police Picnic is long on great music and at least 3 killer sets including one by the original Specials playing one of their last gigs and my finally getting to see Iggy Pop for the first time. Special Guests also attended this festival and kindly stops by once again to share his memories of that day. Come back next time for sleeping legs, pelting patrons, a crowd-shocking performance, and Catherine O’Hara sightings. Episode 15 (Concert no.009) The Police Picnic 1 with The Police, The Specials, Iggy Pop, Killing Joke, The Go-Go’s, Nash the Slash, John Otway & Wild Willy Barrett, The Payola$, Oingo Boingo, and the David Bendeth Band: The Boiler, The Grove, Oakville, Ontario, Canada, August 23, 1981 Get a sneak preview by reading the original 2010 blog entry here.

Chris Collision of the I Don't Even Own A Television podcast is joining us for the misbegotten Wilder Napalm, the early Vince Gilligan joint that would have made a much better X-Files episode than it did a feature film. Arli$$ jokes, aggressive quirk, a Van Helsing comparison somehow, beefcake snarling at each other, Manic Pixie Dream Winger, and a lead who should have failed out of clown college all add up to a very nineties pyrokinetic love triangle with no figurative fireworks. We know we need more clients and we need clients coming back and referring us when they've used our services, or visited our eCommerce store, or come into our retail outlet. Getting new clients starts with Showing Up. But, SHOWING UP isn't always easy, even for the most outgoing women. SHOWING UP in a consistent way can be tricky when we have so many competing demands on our time. But I know from personal experience that to get new clients, reach more people, make connections, and create an audience ready for our offers, it takes showing up. That's when we are rewarded with more clients, more leads and a network of people who know, like and trust us and refer business to us. Showing up even if... You're an introvert You're not sure about how to talk about your business without rambling or feeling like you're boring people You don't like your appearance. You don't know that anyone really needs or wants your product or service. Had a really tough time last year and you're still reeling from the experience of lockdown and changes brought on by COVID, and perhaps that experience has you feeling less confident and doubting yourself. That's where you start to see the rewards. Sounds simple enough. But I get it. Showing up isn't easy for me either. Even though I have a podcast, I do Facebook LIVES, run workshops, run a high-level mastermind, speak on people's webinars, speak on stages at live events, etc. It's still not easy. And as an introvert, I still struggle a little in the day-to-day. But here is what changed things for me. Having the RIGHT PLACE to SHOW UP - somewhere where I'd feel comfortable even if I wasn't feeling successful and if I didn't know where to start finding clients or getting the word out about my business Having an EASY WAY to SHOW UP that felt natural and didn't need me to have it all figured out - with my perfect sales pitch and a pile of business cards ready to hand out to anyone who'd take one. Listen to hear how showing up brings the rewards of getting more clients, reaching more people and feeling more connected without feeling like you have to be sales or pushy, and even if you're an introvert. Mentioned in this episode: Get New Clients Coaching Week 8-14 March 2021 At Coaching Week, I coach you through my go-to blueprint for landing your next client without having to cold call, even if you don’t have an email list, you find it hard to explain what you do, or you find yourself backing away from asking for the sale. By the end of this coaching week, you’ll know how to find the right people and speak confidently about your business without feeling like you're being salesy... and while the week is valued at $350 and we’ve added over $1,250 in bonuses, I’m making the week available for just $10. You might start feeling selfish or even guilty for wanting something you don’t need. But what if I told you that it was okay to want it? Here is your permission slip signed to bring more pleasure into your life. Steps to Creating More Passion in Your Life Allow yourself to want things. Figure out what you want and what you need. Then make room for them both. Don’t fall into the trap of comparison. The Chief Complaint: “I Don’t Need It, But I Want It” There is such a feeling of guilt associated with wanting something we think we don’t need. What if you actually start allowing yourself to want something? Human beings should experience pleasure in life - and often! It’s Okay to Want There is definitely a difference between the feelings of need and want. Need comes from that basic necessity; something like food, shelter, companionship. So when you have all your base needs met, I get how it can feel guilty to want something on top of it. What I want you to understand is that it’s okay to want something. It’s okay to experience pleasure. Pleasure feels so slow and so good, it’s a feeling we want to prolong and experience often. It’s important for us to experience pleasure as often as we can. When you’ve started allowing yourself to feel pleasure regularly, it’s easier to figure out what you actually want. Asking yourself what you want, truly and at your core, is so healthy and we can all stand to allow ourselves to want a little bit more. Comparison is the Thief of Joy I’m saying it’s important to figure out what YOU want because that all too real fear of missing out does come into play here. If someone you know allows themselves to want something pleasurable, it’s so easy to think that might be something we want, too. This comparison can impact that connection with yourself to figuring out what it is you actually want. And I don’t just mean what you want off the top of your head… Put all your different hats on and figure out what you want the most in each of those aspects of your life. Finally, it’s so important for you to give yourself space to figure out both what you want and what you need. Then make room for both of these independent thoughts and feelings in your life. Homework for Women Physicians How can you create pleasure for yourself every day? What have you done today simply because you wanted to? Let me know in the comments on the episode page. Even if you’re having a tough time drawing that line between need and want, who cares, it’s fine. There doesn’t need to be a very solid line because those things might change. The important thing is to check in with yourself to see where you are in your life.” [23:19] “Right now, what do you want? I think the way you can do that is really breaking down all the hats you wear, picking one hat to focus on, and really going through the idea and the process of ‘what do I want’ versus ‘what do I need.’” [26:01] Resources Mentioned Check out the full episode page here Join the Waitlist for G.O.A.L.S Society Find Life Coaching for Women Physicians Online Follow Dr. Ali Novitsky on Facebook | Instagram Subscribe to Life Coaching for Women Physicians on Apple Podcasts Podcast production by the team at Counterweight Creative Related Episodes Episode 41: “I’m Afraid Of Missing Out” Episode 25: “Everyone Needs Something From Me” Episode 22: “I Don’t Know How To Feel My Feelings”
