Het kabinet wil flink bezuinigen op de sociale zekerheid, maar is alle reden om daar heel kritisch over te zijn. 'Snijden in WW heeft mensen niet sneller aan het werk gekregen.' Gisteren zijn de vakbonden weggelopen bij de gesprekken met het kabinet over de sociale zekerheid. De bonden willen niet verder praten tot de bezuinigingen op de WW en de WIA helemaal van de baan zijn en ook hebben ze nieuwe stakingen aangekondigd. Hoe nu verder?  D66-Kamerlid Stephan Neijenhuis en PRO-Kamerlid Mariëtte Patijn gaan erover in debat.

Misschien kwam het door het zeer warme weer dat we deze week een verhit debat in de plenaire zaal zagen. Anders kwam het waarschijnlijk door de ernst van het onderwerp. Een debat dat vooraf werd aangekondigd als een debat van moddergooien, werd juist door die modder toch een heel verhelderend debat. Hier gaat de analogie met moddergooien dus mank.Het onderwerp? De normalisering van geweld in politiek en maatschappij. Om het geweld van de eigen achterban toch iets milder te beoordelen dan dat van de tegenstander, waren er heel wat jij-bakken nodig. En al die bakken waren tot het randje gevuld met, toch weer, modder. Ondertussen botst de regering met de vakbonden over bezuinigingen op WW- en WIA-uitkeringen. De versnelde verhoging van de pensioenleeftijd is van tafel. De bijbehorende bezuiniging nog niet, oordelen de bonden naar het lezen van een brief van het kabinet. En dus gooien zij de deur dicht voor verdere gesprekken. Premier Jetten ziet dat de deur altijd open staat. Verder kort over de parlementaire enquêtecommissie Corona die van start gegaan is. Over de aanstaande stikstofplannen. En waarom het verstandig is dat Leendert razendsnel een nieuwe smartwatch heeft gekocht. Wil je reageren? Het kabinet-Jetten worstelt met zijn ambities. Het wil de rijksbegroting en de sociale zekerheid voor de lange termijn houdbaar maken. Daartoe wil het met vakbonden en werkgevers brede overeenstemming bereiken en met de uitkomst daarvan ook in het parlement voldeonde steun verwerven voor het beleid van de minderheidscoalitie van D66, VVD en CDA. Maar het wantrouwen is groot. Na een ultimatum van de vakbeweging, inhoudelijk gesteund door de werkgevers, kwam het kabinet deze week terug op de bezuinigingsplannen. Jaap Jansen en PG Kroeger verkennen hoe de eerste beschietingen de posities van betrokken partijen markeren. Dat is extra boeiend omdat bijna alle sleutelspelers nieuw zijn in hun rol. Zij kunnen zichzelf en elkaar - opvallend genoeg buiten de SER om - tegenover het minderheidskabinet plaatsen en zich als een solidair front opstellen, dat de eerder gesloten sociaal akkoorden verdedigt. Daarmee kunnen zij bovendien de coalitie onder druk zetten en uiteen spelen, omdat bijvoorbeeld D66 erg hecht aan een ambitieus sociaaleconomisch hervormingsbeleid en het CDA als vanouds aan het bereiken van sociale consensus rond grote maatschappelijke uitdagingen. Het kabinet zette daarom deze week in een uitvoerige brief ‘de eerste stap om het inhoudelijk gesprek te starten’. Rob Jetten onderstreept de wens te komen tot ‘een pact om ons land nog beter te laten werken’. Een benadering die dus veel verder reikt dan een zoektocht naar consensus over ingrepen in AOW, WW en WIA. Centrale doelstelling is een ‘ontslagvrije samenleving’ waarin iedereen zich ‘van werk naar werk’ kan ontplooien. Blokkades voor zo'n inhoudelijk gesprek haalt Jetten daarom nu van tafel. En daarmee zijn die polderchefs zelf weer aan zet. Deze benadering sluit direct aan op de voorzet voor een ‘breed akkoord, liefst vóór Prinsjesdag’, zoals de nieuwe VNO-NCW voorzitter Coen van Oostrom bij zijn aantreden lanceerde. En bij de ultimatum- eisen van de nieuwe vakbondsvoorzitters Hans Spekman (FNV), Hans van den Heuvel (CNV) en Nic van Holstein (Vakcentrale voor Professionals). Die zijn overigens niet meteen gerustgesteld. Zij vragen om ‘opheldering’ over de nieuwe koers in de kabinetsbrief. En in de Tweede Kamer houden mogelijke supporters voor zo'n pact – voorop Jesse Klaver van PRO – eveneens de kaarten tegen de borst. Zo ontstaat dan een gesprek over gesprekken. De vraag daarbij is of Jetten zélf een eensgezinde coalitie heeft, die ook echt de rust in de polder wil herstellen om Nederland economisch sterker te maken. Bij alternatieven rond de AOW houden de sociale partners hun kruit droog, omdat volgens hen de houdbaarheid ervan niet in het geding zou zijn. Alle reden bij zo'n ‘opheldering’ eerst consensus te bereiken over feiten en scenario's. Zo zijn de analyses van Rekenkamer-president Pieter Duisenberg over het beperkte zicht van Sociale Zaken op de ontwikkelingen bij de WIA dan meteen van belang, evenals de constatering dat het bestaande stelsel van fiscale regelingen tientallen miljarden aan investeringsruimte blokkeert. Hoewel het kabinet de verhoging van de AOW-leeftijd nu definitief schrapt, zijn de bezuinigingen op de WW en WIA vooralsnog alleen bevroren. Toen de struiken voor de deur van de noodopvang in Loosdrecht nog fier overeind stonden liep een aanzienlijk deel van Tweede Kamer over van het begrip voor de zorgen van de demonstrerende Loosdrechtenaar. Toen de fik in het struikgewas ging en vervolgens de brandweer werd tegengehouden was dat begrip op. Leendert vraagt zich af of dat niet wat laat was. Het angstbeeld dat bestaat rond de asielopvang is precies dat: een angstbeeld. En voor wat betreft het verwijt dat de politiek niet luistert, sluit hij zich graag aan bij CDA-leider Bontenbal. Het feit dat de burger niet altijd krijgt wat hij of zij wil betekent niet dat er niet geluisterd wordt. Je zin niet krijgen hoort er gewoon bij in de democratie. En dan het ultimatum van de bonden. Er komen stakingen als de bezuiniging op de WIA, de WW en de AOW doorgaan zoals ze in het coalitieakkoord staan. De lasten komen veel te eenzijdig terechte bij de (hard)werkende Nederlander. Minister Vijlbrief van Sociale Zaken belooft een antwoord binnen twee weken. Pro nam in de kamer meteen de gelegenheid te baat om de lasten wat meer richting de huizenbezitter te verschuiven. Schrap de verruiming van de hypotheekrenteaftrek, aldus de partij in een motie. Onbestaanbaar, aldus het VVD-deel van het kabinet, dat verbiedt het coalitieakkoord. Hoewel de rest van het minderheidskabinet het met oppositie eens was. Een dag later stond de hypotheekrenteaftrek alweer op de agenda. De afspraak uit 2001 was om aflossingsvrije hypotheken maar 30 jaar recht op hypotheekrenteaftrek te geven. Waarop natuurlijk iedereen na alle 'life-events' die het leven zoal te bieden heeft, de tel is kwijt geraakt. Zelfs de Belastingdienst weet niet hoe lang u de hypotheekrente heeft afgetrokken. Alle belastinggegevens gaan na een tijd door de shredder. Complex. Begrijp je het nog? Een groep ambtenaren adviseerde de knoop door te hakken door het coalitieakkoord open te breken. Uit nieuw onderzoek van de Kamer van Koophandel onder 750 ondernemers blijkt dat slechts een derde zich actief voorbereidt op grote verstoringen zoals cyberaanvallen of langdurige stroomuitval. Ondernemersadviseur Christiaan Hazelaar van de KvK ziet dat ondernemers risico’s wel herkennen, maar het opstellen van een noodplan en gezamenlijke maatregelen, bijvoorbeeld op industrieterreinen, vaak geen prioriteit geven. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.” James‬ ‭1‬:‭13‬-‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬Comes from within and from the enemy → aims to pull us away from God → exposes weakness.Testing (Genesis 22:1):“Some time later God tested Abraham. At one point in time not too long ago, Weight Watchers was the legacy name in weight loss treatment. Armed with an endorsement from board member Oprah Winfrey, everything was turning up Weight Watchers – until it wasn't.. Usurped by powerful weight loss drugs manufactured by Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk – along with ascendant telehealth firms like Ro, Hims & Hers, and Noom – Weight Watchers went into significant decline.  Ultimately, even Oprah left the company and donated her shares.  In May 2025, Weight Watchers filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in order to eliminate around $1.5 billion in debt. It emerged from bankruptcy in July and now has its sights set on repositioning itself as a key player in the GLP-1 age. But what is Weight Watchers' function in 2026?  This week, managing editor Jack O'Brien is joined by Scott Honken, PharmD, chief commercial officer at Weight Watchers, for an update on the company's current standing in the GLP-1 landscape, where it's been and where it's going.
