But let's be real, saving for retirement isn't as realistic in the beginning of growing a business, when priorities are making a living and paying bills. However, a few years in when you're able to start saving for your future, many business owners get stumped on what that even looks like. Helen Ngo, CEO and founder of Capital Benchmark Partners has over a decade of experience in investment management and running her own financial planning firm. She has unlocked the key to financial freedom that most people get wrong. She's an expert in personal finance and helping women create more wealth for themselves. In this episode, Helen walks us through how to prepare for retirement through these 3 main steps: Assess your cash flow and personal budget to project how much you actually need to save for retirement Evaluate your current tax situation and determine what type of retirement plan you need to implement Consider your current cash flow and potential investments to determine what can actually be put aside for retirement As a business owner retirement looks totally different than working in a corporate 9-5 job where you have a 401k set up for you. “Great things are, by their very nature, unique and unconventional. Therefore, to achieve them, we must go against the herd mentality. And to do that is scary.” -Mark Manson Are you ready to be misunderstood? This is 1 of the 15 questions I ask you to answer, to help nail down your entrepreneurial endeavor. Because it’s a question I get, and a frustration I hear, so often: “I really want to start a business, but I’m multi-passionate, and it’s so hard to choose from allll of the different business interests and ideas I have!” If this sounds like you, you're in the right place. And this episode could very literally change the trajectory of your life. That might sound dramatic, but it’s actually exactly what happened to me. Asking myself some of these questions back in 2012 was pivotal. The light bulb went off, and I launched my first business a year later. So in this episode, you’ll ask yourself 15 important questions to help you hone in on the entrepreneurial endeavor that’s right for you. And even better, I turned these questions into journal prompts that you can download for free to really spend time exploring what your next step should be. Yeah, I’ve got you covered! This episode is extra special to me for a few reasons: These were the questions that brought me to entrepreneurship, changing my life forever. This is a question I get a lot from entrepreneurs-to-be or those wondering if a side hustle or passion project can actually be a viable business that’s worth leaving their 9-5 I see a lot of entrepreneurs get this wrong by trying to do waayyyyyy too much with limited resources, and therefore never really having their business take flight. The saying “follow your passion” can be really misleading and unsustainable. I explain why in the episode. There’s just so much goodness packed into this one! Get it in yo life.
