Ever wondered what Formula One racing and career websites have in common? More than you might think, according to Bryan Adams, CEO and founder of Happydance, who recently joined Bill Banham on the HRchat Show to discuss an innovative new campaign that's bringing F1-inspired competition to the talent acquisition space. The "Careers Site Grand Prix" pits career websites against each other, measuring their performance in speed, accessibility, and SEO – creating an F1-style leaderboard complete with weekly podiums and seasonal champions. This timing perfectly aligns with Formula One's 75th anniversary celebrations and the iconic Silverstone Grand Prix.Bryan, a two-time bestselling author with 20 years in employer branding and a past guest on our sister show, the People and Performance Podcast, shared a startling statistic that frames the entire conversation: for every second past three seconds that your career website takes to load, you lose 10% of your audience. "You're not up against other career websites," Adams explains. "You're up against Amazon and Netflix, TikTok and Instagram" – platforms that have dramatically reduced our patience for digital experiences. The parallels between F1 and talent acquisition run deep. Just as racing teams seek marginal gains through precise optimization and teamwork, organizations must optimize their career sites across multiple dimensions – load speed, accessibility, mobile responsiveness, and personalization – to create winning candidate experiences. As more candidates browse and apply for jobs on mobile devices, meeting them where they are becomes increasingly critical. What's refreshing about Bryan's approach is his emphasis that creating high-performing career sites isn't just about having Fortune 100-level resources. It's about getting fundamentals right, measuring what matters, and using data to drive continuous improvement, much like successful F1 teams. When asked which F1 team Happydance resembles, Bryan bypassed the obvious powerhouses to identify with teams that "are constantly punching above their weight, constantly relying on ingenuity, creativity, teamwork, new innovation."Want to see how your organization's career site measures up? Send us a textBridget Dobyan, Executive Director of the Hearing Industries Association (HIA), joins us to share her remarkable journey from childhood hearing loss to becoming a powerful advocate for hearing health policy. Diagnosed with cholesteatoma at age 8, she experienced sudden hearing loss at 11 when the condition severely damaged the bones in her middle ear. But rather than letting this define her limitations, Bridget used it as a foundation for understanding the issues she'd later address as a leader in hearing healthcare policy. We explore the fascinating differences between traditional hearing aids, cochlear implants, and bone-anchored devices, while dispelling outdated perceptions about hearing technology. Today's hearing devices are sleek, sophisticated, and Bluetooth-enabled—a far cry from the "beige bananas" many still picture. Yet despite technological advances, hearing health remains severely undertreated, with millions of Americans neglecting annual hearing evaluations. The conversation shifts to HIA's groundbreaking "Hear Well" campaign, which has generated over $23 million in earned media through positive, stigma-busting messaging. For Better Hearing Month this May, they're launching "Happy Dance 2.0," offering hearing professionals free, downloadable assets to spark vital conversations about hearing health.Whether you're a hearing care professional looking for practice resources, someone experiencing hearing difficulties, or simply interested in protecting your hearing health, this episode offers valuable insights into how addressing hearing loss connects directly to overall wellbeing, professional success, and quality of life. Does your EVP attract potential employees or push them away? Is it a bad thing if it DOES repell people? You want your EVP to help you attract the RIGHT people. EVP was the focus of a fantastic conversation with Bryan Adams of Happy Dance. Not Bryan Adams the singer of course. Our Bryan recently left the role of CEO of Ph.Creative which is an Employer Brand agency. He has written a few books - the most relevant of which is 'Give and Get: Repel the Many and Compel the Few'. He has consulted to the likes of Apple and many others so he knows what he is talking about. We had a fantastic conversation during which I was actually surprised (the video below). And delighted. These are some of the insights that delighted me and hopefully will delight you: ‼️ EVPs should be authentic - AND aspirational??

For this episode, David is joined by Bryan Adams, the founder of PH Creative and his new company Happy Dance. He is recognized as an expert in developing an employer brand that attracts the most talented people. David and Bryan discuss how to design and shape the right culture for your business and the type of workers it needs. To explore how to get unstuck on your mission, put your purpose into practice and convert your ideas into impact book a discovery call with David here https://calendly.com/david-peoplewithpurpose/30min KEY TAKEAWAYS Be clear about your employer brand. Ignore the noise, design, shape and nurture a culture that works for your business. To attract people who are a genuinely good fit. Be 100% honest about what your employees can expect. There's no such thing as a good or bad culture. There's just a good or bad match for an individual. Hire people who want what you offer. Connect the macro purpose of the organization with the personal purpose of the individual. Embrace and work with the fact that the best people will learn from you and move on after a few years. A small business with a more compelling story and better culture can easily outcompete much bigger companies and attract the best people. Your employer brand needs to continually evolve. Be honest about where your culture is now and aspirational when it comes to developing it for the future. BEST MOMENTS ‘People are the only competitive advantage left in business.' ‘Connecting what a business needs and what a person (employee) wants, that's the magic.' ‘Every organization has an employer brand, whether they know it or not.' Employer Brand: "Ultimately, it's about reverse engineering. What does the business need? And getting to the point of ‘Now we understand that, how do we tell a story and talk about the strength, benefits, and opportunities balance with the harsh realities adversities to craft a proposition that's both authentic and compelling.'" I had a fantastic conversation with Bryan Adams, founder and former CEO of ph-creative and founder and CEO of HappyDance - a platform that means business when it comes to candidate experience. He has consulted to brands such as Apple and Nike and knows what he's talking about. It would be difficult to consolidate what I learned but here's a few things: $ You can do it on a budget. If you're autthentic and compelling you've won with respect to your employer brand.

So right now, today, as I'm sitting here, I am filled with gratitude as we celebrate this incredible achievement. And actually, I'd like to give the tributes and a shout out to my children, Ife and Kiki, they were the ones who suggested that I start a YouTube video, I mean a YouTube channel, so that there could be a video version of the podcast, and this was when they were ages 8 and 10 respectively. How are writers portrayed in fiction? The Word Docs (or, as they're inexplicably calling themselves, the Warlock, the Wizard and the Witch) are investigating the magic of storytelling as depicted in popular culture. From Fforde to Ginsberg, and Ginsberg to King, there is a tradition of romanticising authors and their work. Amy is into it... Sean really, really isn't. Bassil breaks down and shares who has the legal upper hand and who wins in the court of public opinion. Then we explain Mikayla's lash drama and discuss if she broke any disclosure laws. Lastly, CBD seems to be laid to rest as a "buzzy ingredient" as both Lord Jones and Happy Dance shut down last Friday. Karoli Hindriks, an Estonian entrepreneur, has made a major pivot in her business that has proven to be a game-changer for her company, Jobbatical. In 2018, the company was recognized by Forbes as one of Europe's 10 most exciting technology SMEs. However, as Karoli noticed that the biggest problem for her clients in international hiring was not the hiring process but getting people into the country, she decided to take an incredible leap of faith. Karoli decided to focus on automating the immigration and relocation process, providing businesses with a way to retain talent amidst a growing global skills shortage. Her new business model, which removes the friction of labour mobility, became more critical than ever in 2022 as worker priorities continue to shift in favor of borderless working in the wake of the pandemic. As a result, business has been booming for Jobbatical, with 8x ARR growth in the past 12 months alone. Karoli's entrepreneurial spirit began early, founding her first company at 16 and becoming the youngest inventor in Estonia to have a registered patent. By the age of 23, she became the youngest-ever CEO at MTV. In 2021, she gave a talk at TED@Monterey, becoming the first person from Estonia to ever speak on the main TED stage in the US. Karoli's TEDtalk, "Why Passport Needs an Upgrade," has been translated into twelve languages. In 2020, the EU Council named her one of 8 most inspiring women in Europe, and this year EU-Startups named her one of the 50 most influential women in the European startup and VC space for the seventh year running. Karoli shares her story, Jobbatical's journey, the importance of hiring beyond borders, why being resilient in business is critical for success, and her famous Happy Dance in Times Square. Welcome to the second full week of October during a five Saturday month as we talk about a near-total recall of every Rivian vehicle produced this year. We also talk about Tesla's latest strategy to skirt state franchise laws, as well as a “happy dance” little moment for Toyota President Akio ToyodaRivian recalls just about every vehicle they've made this year, and unlike Tesla's last recall, this can't be fixed over the air. I want to reiterate that this is extremely rare, but it does reinforce why we are acting with such urgency and caution.”You can view Rivans recall page hereTesla is throttling down on its plans to build its sales and service centers on tribal land in New Mexico to exploit a gap in the state's automotive franchise laws. There's much more to an architecture firm then just designing spaces. Fawley Bryant takes this to heart by creating a culture internally that then permeates every project it's a part of. In this episode of the Campus Rec Magazine podcast, Rico Francis, the president and co-founder of Peake Media, sits down with Stu Henderson, a partner and the director of design at Fawley Bryant Architecture. They chat about how Henderson came into the world of architecture. Plus, they dive into the unique aspects of Fawley Bryant, the importance of team and culture, and what the future will hold.
