A friendly reminder to all the women out there with applicable body parts...get your regular doctor checkups! My mother died when she was just 63 years old, from cervical cancer. Cervical cancer can be very treatable with a very high survival rate if caught early. My mother most definitely did not get hers caught early. She died 4 weeks after being diagnosed.Likely she had been brewing this cancer for many years, ignoring symptoms, and probably in denial. She may also have had anxiety about going to the gynecologist as many of us do.In Episode 071 of the Cafe Grit podcast, I talk about my mom's experience and how I have tempered my "white coat anxiety" with mindset work. When you're done watching or listening...go set up your yearly check up!Thank you so much for checking out The Cafe Grit Podcast! My name is Beth Anne Campbell...I am a career coach and author of "Where The Hell Is My Bacon?" and "From BLAH to BADASS - The No-Bullsh*t Guide To Channeling Your Leadership GRIT!"My experiences from these books and over two decades in the corporate and consulting world inspired me to create the Café Grit podcast. This is a place where we can have real conversations about finding your mojo, channeling your inner bad@ss, and claiming your voice in the world, whatever that means to you. I'm still trying to figure out what makes my heart sing in life and career. If you are too, grab a cuppa moxie, and let's figure it out together. Here is how you can get in touch with me. I'd love to hear from you!
If you are doing any sort of mindset or manifestation work, doing an Ideal Day (or Dream Day) exercise might be just what you need.Very simply, your Ideal Day is a detailed account of an average day in your life, as imagined after you have achieved your dreams. It starts the minute you wake up in the morning and continues until you go to sleep at night, and includes as much detail as you can muster - what you see, hear, smell, taste, and feel (including emotional feels). In this episode of Cafe Grit, I talk about the Ideal Day activity and give some tips on how to level up and incorporate your goals or building a new habit into the exercise.
Please note, there is some high-level discussion about child abuse (including sexual abuse) in this episode. The Broken Spoke is the true story of one man's determination to confront his childhood demons and finally free himself from his past.Mike Wesolowski grew up in a home filled with every type of pain. The only way he knew how to cope with the daily torture was through self-destructive behaviors, compartmentalization, and substance abuse. After decades of coming to terms with the shame and guilt of what he endured, he was finally able to confront his past and conquer his addiction. Talk about GRIT! Wow. His healing journey has been amazing and I--Beth Campbell--am proud to call him my uncle. In episode 070 of the Cafe Grit Podcast, I sit down with Mike to talk about his book The Broken Spoke. His honesty, vulnerability, and authenticity will blow you away. Please visit The Broken Spoke (book) Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/thebrokenspokebook for updates.Thank you Mike for opening up and being In The GRIT Seat!
After being mind-blown by a mindset masterclass, I continue working on being my best self. In this episode, I talk a bit about the evolution of my choice of business (career coach and mentor)."Career Coach" is broad and deep and I didn't realize right away that I couldn't focus on it all. It was only when I had a conversation with one of my besties that the lightbulb went off.I needed to find my niche.Sometimes the right person says something in the right way and it clicks.
"Cosmic Strategies" is a place where women with a leadership mentality go to evolve. Chills!I sat down with Stella Scott to talk about her new mobile app Cosmic Strategies. It's a unique community that combines astrology and finding fulfillment with women's history and some kickass courses.I did a whole Cafe Grit episode on Stella's Classy Vintage Mastery course and how it changed my whole relationship with clothing (Episode 066).What I love so much about Stella is that she has such a passion for life! She is a walking, talking, living, breathing example of "You're never too old!" (I hope she won't mind me telling you that she recently turned 65!)I have a new mantra: WWSD (What Would Stella Do?) - answer, there isn't much she CAN'T do!Thank you Stella for being In the GRIT Seat and sharing your excitement. If you'd like to get in touch with Stella, here are her links:Website: https://stellascott.com/CS-WebbLinkedIn: https://stellascott.com/QueenCoachFacebook: https://stellascott.com/FacebookInstagram https://stellascott.com/Instagram
The biggest obstacle for me not achieving my goals, not fulfilling my dreams, not taking the next step in my career desires...is me.100%.I have been falling into complacency, blaming everything under the sun for my lack of progress, and generally feeling afraid to take a chance.I have been putting out an energy that is indifferent, afraid, self-critical...and it has been coming right back to me.Recently I completed a week-long masterclass that was all about business mindset (DM me for info, I am glad to share).I had a big WHOA moment on day 1. By Day 3 of 5, I was brainstorming a career coaching business. By the end of the week, I believed I could accomplish ANYTHING!So I am jumping into it! I have no formal plan, no fancy masterclass website, just an attitude of "I can do this!"If you think it and believe it...you can have it, do it, be it!
Have you ever thought about the impact of your clothing on the environment? When Stella Scott told me she was starting a course centered around vintage/second-hand clothing, I was excited! Before this class, I considered myself "fashion-impaired." But really, I was just lost in how to dress and look good without feeling like my mom.(No offense, Mom...you were beautiful...just not me.)The timing was perfect, as I was pondering my new life as a FORMER corporate queen and figuring out what was next in my career. And this program was truly amazing in helping me explore my sense of style. But it was oh so much more!I had never thought about the impact of my "instant gratification/disposable stuff" mentality when it came to clothing.(Oh, we US Americans are the GODS of "stuff.")I am always looking for ways to improve my negative impact on the earth and the environment, and paying attention to what I wear and how I take care of my attire is a great way to do that! Please follow Stella (she also has some amazing content on sleep) and look out for Classy Vintage Mastery if she runs it again. Worth every penny, every minute. Here is Stella's Contact Info:https://www.linkedin.com/in/stellascott-thequeencoach/https://www.instagram.com/cosmic_strategies/Hello, I am Beth Anne Campbell - author of "Where The H*** Is My Bacon?" and "From BLAH to BADA$$" - two books about leadership from a woman who survived corporate madness for 23 years. Failure, discomfort, and vulnerability are all ways that we grow. So why do some people struggle with all three? In Episode 065 of the Cafe Grit podcast, I talk again with my good friend Mike Goggin about failure. We dive into several questions around what seems to be an increasing trend of younger folks being challenged with things like discomfort and change. Why is failure and learning from our mistakes important? How does inexperience with failure and discomfort impact us in our early careers?
In episode 064 of the Cafe Grit podcast, I ponder blankets, birdfeeders, and how I was able to watch the most frightening movies by myself in the dark when I was just ten years old.
When people bring pain or suffering into your life, sometimes it is hard to let go. We want justice, revenge, retaliation...but we rarely get it. Sometimes that feeling stays with us far too long. In episode 062 of The Cafe Grit podcast, I talk about a time when I needed to let go of some negative energy after I was let go from my job. If you are struggling to release feelings of resentment, maybe this episode will help. ⭐️ Have you ever had trouble letting go of negative feelings toward someone for something they did to you?If you need a deeper dive, reach out, and let's set up a time to chat. The first call is always free.
I remember a time when I loved my job. It's been a long time.In episode 061 of the Cafe Grit Podcast, I sit down with my honorary cohost Mike Goggin to talk about early careers. When you were young, what did you wish you could be when you grew up? Are you anywhere close? What is your favorite early job?Check out the full Cafe Grit episodes on your favorite streaming platforms, and on the toob of you for the video version!
Have you ever thought about your own chronic stress? I mean REALLY thought about it?In episode 060 of the Cafe Grit podcast, I sat down with my good friend Mike Goggin to talk about some of the ways we have experienced chronic stress - particularly work stress - in our lives.Since being released from the golden handcuffs of big corporations and consulting, I am just now realizing how bad it was. If anyone out there is experiencing chronic stress and doesn't know how to deal with it, send me a DM and maybe I can help.Meanwhile, tell me about chronic stress you have experienced, whether from the workplace or other. How did you deal with it?For more corporate BS breakdown, check out my books, available on Amazon now:Where The Hell Is My Bacon? How is it that I have lived in my lovely city for three years yet I haven't made any close friends in my local area?In episode 059 of The Cafe Grit Podcast, I explore this dilemma of mine and reveal how I am working to overcome it.I have lots of friends outside of my current home base. So how did I meet THEM?✅ Work! One advantage of getting back to the office (for those who want to) is meeting a lot of people.✅ School! Friends from college, friends from high school - there are always a few who are your people.✅ Through other friends! I have a few close friends that I met through others.✅ Family! Goes without saying...siblings, cousins, bonus aunts, so many awesome friends. But alas, my current situation is not conducive to meeting people under the above circumstances.↳ I have been a remote worker for over 7 years.↳ I am no longer in school.↳ My friends' friends are not local.↳ My family members are spread across the country.Never fear! I am learning to think outside of the box on the friend front! How did you meet your closest friends? Check out Cafe Grit if you've got the hankering for purpose, a taste for fulfillment, and you're tired of living the rat race.
Do you feel a compulsion to have a creative outlet? In Episode 057 of the Cafe Grit Podcast, I sat down with my good friend Mike Goggin to talk about creativity.Since I was a child I have had a strong drive to create things that are beautiful or funny or have some emotional impact on myself or others.I followed that creative urge when I learned to sew on an old-fashioned treadle machine at age 8.I started writing poems, essays, and short stories around the same time.I macraméd, I crocheted, I painted, I made jewelry out of metal and clay; I scrapbooked and made holiday cards and cross-stitched.Now I write, podcast, and create fun things in more advanced apps like Canva.Mike has a similar story and he shares much of that in this episode. What drives our creativity? Is everyone moved by creative works? What keeps us from moving forward in our endeavors?Check out the full episode and let me know what you think!
Chronic stress is breaking me. Literally...it's breaking my teeth and my bone.Just had a long overdue dental consult and wow, what a few years can do to the molars. It's been a while since I had the old pearly (off) whites cleaned.↳ Moving.↳ Pandemic.↳ Waitlists. So I wasn't anticipating the best of consults.I was sure I had at least one cavity and lord knows what else. I brush and floss religiously but I could feel the tartar building up. Grit, and not the good kind. But I had no cavities. The tartar was actually not that bad.The real shocker was the damage being caused by my teeth clenching. Yep, I've worn a night guard since 2007.But even with a nighttime guard, I was somehow finding a way for those molars to find each other. In Episode 056 of The Cafe Grit Podcast, I talk about my history with chronic stress, how toxic workplaces contributed to that, and the overall impact it has had on my teeth. The good news is, my stress levels have plummeted recently and I have a fantastic new dentist. Have you experienced chronic stress? How did it manifest in your body? Any teeth grinders or clenchers out there?
When I was a child, my mother would NOT do my dirty work for me.
"Have you LOST your ever-loving MIND?"Sometimes having GRIT means having patience, and nowhere is this more true for me than in raising my Labrador retriever Moxie. In Episode 054 of the Cafe Grit Podcast, I talk about some day-to-day grit and how my aptly named pup-dog keeps me on my toes. She tests me, oh she does. Like when we are on our daily walk and she puts things in her mouth at warp speed and refuses to let them go.Unripe apples. Acorns. Rotten bits. Clumps of...not sure what. When she finds THE PRECIOUS! she will not let go. I have had to literally pry dead things from her little Labrador mouth. One time she got a little too protective and growled at me when I tried to get her to "Drop it." What the actual....???Oh no you did NOT! You do NOT snarl at Mommy! I nearly lost my shirt right there on Windemere Drive."Have you LOST your ever-loving MIND?" I know she can't understand me. But I asked her anyway.I summoned all the grit I had to resist tying her to the signpost and leaving her there while I walked it off. (Of course, I would NEVER do that! She's my baby girl and I LOVE HER SO MUCH!)GRIT is patience and I found the patience.Check out this episode to hear more and also catch a little tale about motherhood GRIT.Who tests your GRIT the most in your life? Let me know in the comments!
Three weeks PTO for a Vice President position? Or, conversely, unlimited PTO for all (does it really work)? In Episode 053 of the Cafe Grit podcast, I talk about my experience with vacation time over the years and what I'm seeing in current job postings. How much paid time off do you get in your traditional (non-entrepreneurial job)? When I started my first professional job in 2000 I got 3 weeks paid time off. Sixteen years later, when I left for another opportunity, I was a couple of years away from having 6 weeks per year. Then I took that opportunity and my PTO dropped to 4 weeks per year. Seven years later it was still 4 weeks per year. Now, as I look for a new position, I am seeing more and more upper management or even executive positions offering 15 days. While I'm sure in some cases that is negotiable, it's clear at least in the United States that we do not (generally speaking) value personal time off work. Some companies (including the one I was recently laid off from) don't have a separate sick time bucket. They make you use your personal time off if you get sick.Yikes. Check out the full episode and then let me know your experience with paid/personal time off. Fair or not fair?
Have you ever felt like something was going a bit wonky at work...and then you got laid off? I recently had my position eliminated from a consulting firm and in Episode 052 of the Cafe Grit Podcast, I talk about all the red flags I experienced in the preceding months. I also give some tips for anyone who feels their dismissal might be imminent.Losing your job is never easy, but it's a little less horrible if you know it is coming. You at least have time to prepare. Knowing ahead may not prevent the deed but it can help you be a step ahead of the powers that be.
In Episode 051 I talk about getting the call where I was laid off and what happened afterward. We talk team notifications, severance packages, what was said on the call, and how it went for the next few days.
In episode 050 I talk about getting laid off for the first time in 23 years of my professional career and the horror of applying for unemployment benefits in the USA.
"I am willing to deal with the ramifications of being my full self."I heard this quote in a short random video from Gary Vaynerchuk. He was being asked why he swore so much.I have this quote on my vision board because it resonated with me so much (especially being one who drops the...erm...occasional F-bomb).The concept of being one's full self also struck me when I was listening to one of Mel Robbins' audiobooks "Kick A$$." The gist was if you bring your full self to the table - you are transparent, honest, you don't filter or hide who you are - and someone else doesn't accept you, then it's on them.Let's repeat that for those who didn't quite ingest this: It's on them.If you hold back, sugar-coat, hide parts of yourself, or otherwise don't express your needs, wants, feelings, etc...then you bear some of the responsibility for how people perceive you or the outcome of a situation. In episode 049 of The Cafe Grit Podcast, I explore the concept of bringing and being my full self after a recent situation where I had to get uncomfortable.Do you feel like you bring your full self to the table? Why or why not? What do you think that means, "be your full self?"
"How does your cluttered desk serve you?" I was asked this question recently by one of my coaches, Karen Chappell.(Look her up if you want to live a pain-free life...she is a-MAZ-ing!)I was talking with Karen about minimalism after re-watching a Netflix documentary called "Minimalism: Less is Now" based on the book "The Minimalists" by Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus. The idea of living a more intentional life with less useless clutter (in my house, in my head, in my technology) appeals to me very much.I was telling Karen that I have a lot of clutter and it does weigh on me. So she asked me, "How does your cluttered desk serve you?"Because we don't do things over and over again without there being some payoff for us--even for things that maybe aren't healthy or in our best interests.I did have some thoughts on that. Check out the latest episode of Cafe Grit (048, info below) and find out how my cluttered desk serves me. PS: My desk is no longer cluttered and in the podcast I reveal how it got all cleaned up, with Karen's help!
Oh, did I have a good laugh when a friend messaged me recently and asked me how I "do it all."
Getting a person's name right (and correctly pronounced) is important. In episode 046 of the Café Grit podcast, I talk about some of the name faux pas I've experienced (or been responsible for) over the years. I also give some tips on how we can make sure that we are giving and receiving a preferred name.
In Episode 045 of the Café Grit podcast, I welcome my good friend, former colleague, and long-time corporate survivor Jerry Gray into the GRIT seat!Jerry and I dive into the deep end of annual performance reviews. Who knew there was so much to learn? Jerry got me thinking about a few things and his insight as a leader and long-time member of the corporate club. He had some great advice!(Don't worry...I remain ever the skeptic...but Jerry did get me thinking!)We touched on ratings, merits, performance improvement plans, and we shared some of our own stories about annual reviews. I also talk about why I hate performance reviews.Check out Episode 045 of the Café Grit Podcast and then go look up Jerry's alter ego, singer/songwriter/musician on youtube @JakeGrayAmericanPoet (but only if you love good music). https://www.jake-gray.com/
This episode is dedicated to my former coworkers, who are living the ultimate corporate bullshit scenario. I talk about what they are going through and how once again, horrible leadership is at the heart of their stress and unhappiness. In 2020 I published a book about a really horrible time that I and hundreds of my colleagues endured at a big company (which I no longer work for, thank baby Jesus). The book is called "Where The Hell Is My Bacon?" but it should have been called "Where The Hell Is My Good Leadership?" Because that's what it was really about. Shitty leaders. Those were the hardest years I have endured in my corporate life and I couldn't imagine anything worse. And I'm sure most of my coworkers felt the same. But things did get worse for them.
Our bad habits benefit us.Yes, it's true. Those things we do over and over and over again serve us in some way. Otherwise, we wouldn't do them.Smoking, drinking, eating junk food, cheating on exams, not exercising, social media scrolling for hours...all of these things give us something in return. In the latest Café Grit podcast, I explore some revelations I have recently had about myself and reasons why I continue to make unhealthy decisions even though I know they are not good for me.You know what they say...what doesn't k1ll you makes you stronger!Do you have a bad habit that you seem unable to kick? Have you ever thought that it might in some way be benefitting you (crazy as that sounds)?
In Episode 041 of the Cafe Grit podcast, I talk about the time I scheduled a consult with an OB/GYN (to get information on managing menopause symptoms) and unexpectedly found myself in the Silver Stirrups with my naughty bits hanging out getting a precautionary ultrasound on my c00ch.Boy, did I have to channel my grit to get this procedure done! I mean, I didn't even wear my good panties.I also talk a bit about the fear of doctors and what some of us experience when we step into the exam room. And women, if you are overdue for your hoo-hah exam (especially if you have risks or a family history like I do), please find the courage and time to get yourself to your doctor!
It's been a minute since I recorded an episode of Cafe Grit. Over a year, in fact. I have a lot of reasons for stepping away from the podcast and I cover them in this return episode 040.But the passion for speaking out and leaning in and for helping others find their voice (whatever that means to them) has never left. It feels like the right time to step back into GRIT, so here we go. Welcome to Café Grit...the place to go when you've got the hankering for purpose, a taste for fulfillment, and you're tired of living the rat race.
In this episode I talk with my health, weight loss, and transformation coach Gillian Davies! I have been working with Gillian for about a year as of this recording and I'm thrilled to have her In The GRIT Seat! Gillian gave up her corporate life and now helps people like myself to transform their lives. I can't say enough good things about her and how she has helped me mind, body, and spirit. Check her out on LinkedIn or on Facebook (she has an awesome support group). Links below.https://www.linkedin.com/in/gilliandaviescoach/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/weightlossinmenopausewithgilliandavies
This is part 2 of the story of how I lost 70 lbs and found my mojo. In this episode, I talk about where I started from, what I did, and what changed on this journey. Hint: It isn't just about the scale or dress size. I also talk about reaching out for help from Gillian Davies, health and fitness coach extraordinaire.
Cafe Grit is all about grit and it takes a lot of grit to make the decision to prioritize yourself. That's what I did in early 2022. In S3E02, I start off a 3-part series talking about my journey to wellness, which started with a mindset change. We must make ourselves the number one in our lives, in order to be our best for others. In the past 10 months I've lost 70 lbs with the help of a health and fitness coach. In this episode I talk about where I was a year ago and what led up to me making the call to prioritize myself and get help.
Do you ever go back and think about your childhood to try and understand who you are today? In this episode, I reminisce about my mother and how she made me take responsibility for my decisions when I was a child. No helicopter parenting here! The older I get, the more I see my late mother in a different light, and I have come to appreciate some things that I resented in my youth. I know some of you have complicated relationships with your parents, I'd love to hear your feedback!
In this episode, I talk about a recent setback with my health journey and how it impacted me. Am I a bad person? Why is it so hard to move on? Is this what GRIT is really about? Take a listen and then ask yourself how you handle life's failures and setbacks. Do you let it derail you or do you put your adult panties on and move forward?
When we get older, it will be really hard to learn things. When we age, it's harder and harder (damn near impossible) to lose weight. The older we get, the lonelier we get. I'm too old to start new adventures, I should have done that when I was young. These are just a few of the myths about aging that I grew up with. I'll bet you have some too.Do you know what I think of these? Bullsh*t. You don't get weaker with age...you develop more GRIT. That's why I did S2E12 of the Café Grit Podcast about The GRIT of Aging. It's time to crush those myths! So many of you who have made AMAZING things happen in your life after the age of 35...45...55...70! Let's celebrate this!
In this episode, we explore the reasons for employee burnout. Is it the responsibility of the company? The managers and leaders? Or the employee themselves? The answer might surprise you. If you are burned out at work, overwhelmed, engulfed in chaos...then this is the episode for you.
In this episode I talk about boundaries at work and how important it is to set and honor them to prioritize ourselves. I give an example of a recent work revelation I had that prompted the need for me to set boundaries.
In this episode of In The GRIT Seat, I sit down to talk with Jay Stansfield - author, artist, illustrator, entrepreneur, musician, songwriter, singer, IT technician, (takes a deep breath), and one of the most creative people I have ever met. He takes us through his GRIT journey from the child of hippies to IT tech in the school system to author and illustrator of the Squibbles coloring books and Meet The Squibbles children's book. Do yourself a favor and follow Jay on Instagram and LInkedIn, and go look up his awesome song "Poor Little Pineapple" on Youtube. Brilliant!
In this short episode I reminisce to some early days of GRIT when I came in dead last at a couple events at my school's Field Day. Grit isn't always about being in-your-face tenacious. Sometimes it's about being patient and just practicing.
In this episode of Café Grit: In the GRIT Seat, I sit down with book coach Shelley Wilson. Or, Wonder Woman, as I like to call her. Multi-genre author, camper van adventurer, Supernatural lover, and all-around super fun person to talk to. Who knew she loved vampires and Vikings too? I loved talking to Shelley and I know you will too! Don't forget to look her up on social media and check out her amazing book portfolio!
In this episode of Café Grit: In The GRIT Seat, I welcome licensed psychologist Gabriela Encina. Gabriela supports international women (and a few men!), helping with their confidence & well-being, improving their relationships & prioritizing themselves. She's also super fun and a bright spirit and I know you're going to love her. She blew me away with her GRIT story and her insight into human emotions. Check her out at www.gabriela-encina.com or on Instagram as @gabriela.encina.psychologist .
I know you're going to love this episode with the Unsquasher Extraordinaire Trisha Lewis! Trisha is the author of "The Mystery of the Squashed Self" and the host of the "Make It Real" podcast. As if that isn't enough, she is also an actor, communication coach, and one of the most real people I have ever met. In this episode, we talk about Trisha's book, get some insight into the evolution of her humor, and hear a bit about her background. Don't forget to check out Trisha's website for more of her great personality and links to her social media (which are all super-fun, she is a MUST FOLLOW!). TrishaLewis.com is the place to go.
I've been on a break for a while but ready to get back. This episode talks a bit about why I stepped away and what we have coming for Cafe Grit from this point on. There will still be the calling out o' corporate bullshit, never fear! But I also want to focus on the positive. Always embrace your grit and never quit!
This is one for the ladies. Many of us are starkly aware of our femaleness in the workplace. We are frequently the only woman in meetings; we sense that someone is talking to us differently than they talk to your male counterparts. Gender bias in the workplace is alive and well, and now it comes in more subtle forms that can be difficult to deal with. When someone pinches your boob, it's an obvious violation that you can take to HR. When someone talks to you differently, maybe more patronizing or condescending than the men you work with, it's a lot trickier. In this episode, I talk about some things I've experienced being a woman in the corporate world. Do any of them sound familiar?
Welcome to the first guest episode of Cafe Grit with Visibility Coach Heidi Medina! Heidi Badass of the House Medina, First of Her Name, the Fucksayer, Queen of the Coaches, Khaleesi of the Great Visibility Sea, Giver of Permissions, Empress of Entrepreneurs, and Mother of Chickens.Heidi is the owner of Talk To Heidi and a kickass coach, copywriter, and champion of all things that will get you VISIBLE in your business. Heidi and I talk about a plethora of fun things, including her first business (as a child), how she got into coaching, her superpower of helping people get Visible online, and how she is in large part responsible for the existence of this very podcast. Give it a listen and then go look up Heidi on LinkedIn and Facebook. You won't regret it.
Do you work in an environment where you feel safe making a mistake? S2E06 is about screwing up at work and doing so without being punished or thrown under the bus. I talk about one of my first corporate screw-ups and how it shaped my reaction to one of my team member's mistakes 15 years later when I was a manager. I also talk about why that is important and how I feel about dicks who play the blame game to save face.
Feeling the effects of nearly a year of covid, multitasking, and just plain too much shit going on, I'm just going to wing it today with some thoughts on keeping it all together. We have a lot of stress in our lives and it's okay to feel that. It's okay to be in a place where you haven't yet found your voice, where you haven't stood up to the asshats, and where you haven't yet found fulfillment. It is okay. We are human. Grit is about moving forward even when we fail, even when we feel like crap. So don't beat yourself up about anything. Just keep looking forward.
