She's successful, impressive, accomplished… and secretly miserable. If that hits a little too close to home, this episode is for you. Hilary is calling out the high-achieving hamster wheel that so many women are stuck on—working their asses off, racking up accolades, and still feeling like something's missing. Sound familiar? That's because you've been chasing a version of success that was never meant to satisfy you, just the people clapping from the sidelines. In this episode, Hilary breaks down the real reason success isn't scratching the itch—and why being self-centered (yes, self-centered) is the antidote. Not the selfish kind. The sane, grounded, peaceful, fulfilled kind. Episode Highlights: The lie high-achieving women are sold (and why it keeps you stuck) How to recognize when you're chasing validation instead of real joy The myth of “I'll be happy when...” and how to break it 3 real steps to start living life on your terms—today Episode Breakdown: [00:00] Why High-Achieving Women Still Feel Empty [02:06] How to Break the Burnout Cycle [03:54] Two Choices: Keep Performing or Prioritize Yourself [04:15] What Self-Centered Really Means [05:30] Step 1: Audit Your Life [06:24] Step 2: Redefine Success for You [06:55] Step 3: Start Making Self-Centered Decisions [07:37] Why People Might Not Like the New You (and That's Fine) [08:09] Choose to be happy, NOW. If you're tired of being exhausted, overextended, and secretly questioning if this is all there is—Hilary's here to say: hell no, it's not. It's time to stop chasing and start choosing you. Because you're not too much. You've just been aiming at the wrong finish line. Hit play. It's time for a self-centered glow-up.

Founder and Owner Michelle Thompson is a Legal Coach and operates Resistant Vision Coaching and Consulting, LLC. How Do I Work with Clients? At Resistant Vision, we have three steps to working with clients: Calming your nervous system using the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT/tapping), self-care, and pleasure inventories; Clarifying your goals and paving a path ahead; and Committing to your goals to bring about the life you want. As a coach, I work with lawyers to: Get out of the fight, flight, or freeze - no more feeling held hostage to your bosses and clients; Prioritize your well-being; Reconnect with the amazing ways you wanted to make a mark on the world; and Set a path forward to leaving your mark. As a result, clients have built the professional and personal habits they need to have a sustainable legal career and create the world they want without burnout and exhaustion. The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as tapping, is a simple tool that can clean up the feelings associated with trauma and physical hurts by tapping on acupuncture points while repeating phrases. This is fundamental to lawyers transforming their work lives, so they're not held hostage to work, their family, or the community. This is fundamental to creating pleasure in your life and spreading that pleasure. The four biggest challenges my clients face that undermine overall well-being and productivity are: Reducing Stress by Taking Charge of Your Time: How to Prioritize Yourself for Professional Success and Avoid Burnout; How to Build a Regular, Sustainable, and Long-Term Writing Practice: Writing Without Burnout and Compromised Health, and Writing with Support: Using the Tools of Social Writing to Keep Large Writing Projects Moving Forward. How to Use Billable Hours as a Planning Device to Direct Your Time, Your Focus, Your Priorities, and Your Energy. I give speeches and workshops about these four topics and more and would love to share what I know with your colleagues, department, division, or law firm. The price depends on the audience and location, so to schedule an engagement with you, please complete the form below, and we can connect. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/gobegreat/message

Having a growth mindset, prioritizing strength training, knowing your body type, and practicing regular self-care are the keys to taking control of your life. I'm joined by Dr. Weili Gray, a sleep and lifestyle physician who recently took one of my programs, to talk about the benefits she's seen in her life since adopting my recommended practices. Key Takeaway Prioritize your self-care to improve all areas of your life. What do you do for your health, fitness, and well-being? About Dr. Weili Gray Dr. Weili Gray is a board-certified sleep, integrative, and lifestyle medicine physician who practices in Vermont. She is also a Registered Life Planner and the founder of Dare to Dream Physician, where she offers life planning and hosts a weekly podcast. The Importance of Body Types and Strength Training I've just met Dr. Weili Gray, but honestly, I feel like I've known her for a long time. What I love most about her, and it's evident in this conversation, is how much she values her self-care. She also has a growth mindset which helps her continuously develop herself, her life, and her goals. Dr. Gray says that she never used to prioritize strength training, but now that she does include it in her movement routine, she's seeing the benefits across her life. Not only did she learn about the importance of strength training during my program, but Dr. Gray also learned about different body types! She really stresses how much her knowledge of her own body's needs developed when she started understanding the different body types out there. She also learned that actually making time for exercise is so beneficial to her as an ectomorph, the naturally slender body type. Prioritize Yourself for More Control in Your Life Dr. Gray explains why she prioritizes investing in herself. She says that it makes her a better person all around - she feels she improves in her roles as mom, wife, and physician when she practices self-care and puts her own needs first. When she practices regular self-care, including her four days of exercise, Dr. Gray says she feels more in control of her life. She's less stressed and better equipped to focus on everything she has going on. Dr. Gray also explains how she includes her family in her self-care routine and helps encourage their health and wellness, too. Finally, we talk about the importance of adopting a growth mindset. It's fine to know this stuff in principle, but to actually put it into practice takes dedication and a desire to grow as a person. Have you adopted a growth mindset to improve your life? How often do you include your self-care practices in your routine? What do you do? Let me know what works best for you in the comments on the episode page! In This Episode How strength training is a tool for wellness [4:45] The impact of learning about different body types [6:00] What happens when you make time to exercise [9:00] How investing in yourself impacts your goals and plans [18:00] How practicing self-care helps you feel more in control of your life [19:45] What happens when you include your family in your self-care journey [21:30] The importance of adopting a growth mindset [27:00] Quotes “What I learned and solidified in your program is that running is great, it's good to move your body. Any kind of movement, even walking, as you say. But that's not enough. It doesn't address all the muscle groups. This was my lightbulb moment. This is my new step. I'm going to uplevel myself as an athlete. Not only am I going to be a runner, but I'm also so excited that [strength training] is going to be my goal!” [16:11] “I already feel that I am a better person. I'm a better mom, I'm a better wife, I'm a better physician because I actually feel and prioritize, at least four days a week, my self-care. Really putting that first is so important.” [18:48] “The little things that we do every day add up to how we feel. I want to continue that!” [19:38] “Once you find your why, it's so much easier to make decisions, prioritize your life, design your life in a way that's in full alignment with who you are, what you really want, and why you're on Earth.” [30:28] Resources Mentioned Listen to the Dare to Dream Physician Podcast Find Dr. Weili Gray Online Follow Dr. Weili Gray on Facebook | Instagram | LinkedIn Check out the full episode page here Find Life Coaching for Women Physicians Online Follow Dr. Ali Novitsky on Facebook | Instagram Subscribe to Life Coaching for Women Physicians on Apple Podcasts Podcast production by the team at Counterweight Creative Related Episodes Episode 96: Dr. Shillcutt on Discovering Self-Love Through Boundaries Episode 106: Honoring Your Authentic Body Episode 105: Go All-In On You

According to studies conducted throughout the course of the pandemic, mothers were able to complete ONE hour of work during lockdown, as opposed to their male counterparts, who were able to complete THREE hours of uninterrupted work. New York Time's Bestselling author of Fair Play and now, Find Your Unicorn Space: Reclaim Your Creative Life in a Too Busy World, Eve Rodsky, is working to change society, one partnership at a time by coming up with a new 21st-century solution to an age-old problem: women shouldering 2/3 or more of the unpaid domestic work and childcare for their homes and families. In this episode, The Two Jess(es) sit down with Eve and talk about how WeSTAT has been the Unicorn Space that has saved them, one they didn't even know they needed. Together with Eve, they talk about the unapologetic carving out of sustained time to pursue creative work- and how it is THE way to keep from languishing in the deluge of the daily grind of motherhood life. Meet Eve:Eve Rodsky transformed a “blueberries breakdown” into a catalyst for social change when she applied her Harvard-trained background in organizational management to ask the simple yet profound question: What would happen if we treated our homes as our most important organizations? Her New York Times bestselling book and Reese's Book Club Pick, Fair Play, a gamified life-management system that helps partners rebalance their domestic workload and reimagine their relationship, has elevated the cultural conversation about the value of unpaid labor and care. In her highly anticipated follow-up, Find Your Unicorn Space: Reclaim Your Creative Life in a Too-Busy World, Rodsky explores the cross-section between the science of creativity, productivity, and resilience. Described as the ‘antidote to physical, mental, and emotional burnout,' Rodsky aims to inspire a new narrative around the equality of time and the individual right to personal time choice that influences sustainable and lasting change on a policy level. Rodsky's work is backed by Hello Sunshine—Reese Witherspoon's media company whose mission is to change the narrative for women through storytelling. Rodsky was born and raised by a single mom in New York City and now lives in Los Angeles with her husband Seth and their three children.Love all this free content??? This episode is a continuation of the Prioritize Yourself series.. Today we are talking about.. ugh… physical health! Really?! Who picked this?? Well long story short. You need to decide if you are self-motivated enough to do at home workouts, or maybe you need a change of scenery and get a generalized gym membership. Or if you are like me, you need all of the willpower and will only get it done if you go to a place with an actual class that tells you what to do and when, mixed with a bit of socialization of course. find your inner motivation to just go do it. The biggest factor here with succeeding is time management. Because that’s the best excuse we have for not actually going. give yourself grace Create Yourself Facebook Community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/CreateYourselfPodcast Find more content just like this: sarahfegley.com Become a member for exclusive content: patreon.com/SarahFegley Please Subscribe and Share!
