Is any of this you?  You've always secretly known deep within you that you're destined for much bigger stuff? Maybe you want to make it to the top in your career or your industry? Perhaps you've harboured an ambition to have your own business and want to make it a reality? Maybe you want to get your business to a whole new level and achieve financial freedom? Or maybe it's some other big dream you have?  It's hard and frustrating at times isn't it? Knowing inside you're made for bigger stuff when there are people around you who laugh at you or discourage you. Maybe they call you a dreamer and you should make do with your lot.    My guest on this episode of mojo matters has always known inside him he's made for big stuff and he actually makes it happen. And I really admire that about him because even though I know he says people have wanted to deter him in the past, he just has this utter self belief and confidence and doesn't let the naysayers get in his way.  Up until he was in his late teens, Chris Taylor was destined to become a professional cricketer and then an injury killed his dream.  He had to two options. Wallow. Or keep making other big stuff happen.  With little prior experience and just inbuilt self belief and confidence, Chris has started and scaled several businesses. She had a high flying corporate career but had been forced out of a job she loved.  Her partner told her their relationship was over. Within the space of 10 days, she lost her job, her home, her relationship and the ready-made family that had filled the void left by her inability to conceive her own children.  A brush with suicide followed.  She realised she'd lived a life of shame and blame.  This was a catalyst to go on her own journey with self discovery to become a happier, more confident, self-compassionate and unapologetic version of herself.  In this episode, Carolyn shares her story, redefines what it means to be selfish and gives you her 'How to process' to 'de-twat your life'. I'm joined on this episode by the legend that is Janet Murry – a content marketing expert, podcaster and key note speaker around the world who has built a six figure business using the strategies she teaches to others to help them build online audiences.  But we're not talking content marketing particularly on the show.  I wanted to talk to Janet because quite frankly she's a big inspiration.  What she probably wasn't aware of was that it was Janet who helped me take one of my first steps to innovate my business when the pandemic hit because I listened to her brilliant podcast – it was an episode about how to grow your Instagram account it was this that helped me get on Instagram and start innovating my business.  And it was also an email that she sent which really helped me re-frame things and take action because I'd been struggling as a business owner at the time the pandemic hit – I'd lost all of my business and also I felt like it would be an inappropriate time to sell. But Janet's email came at the right time and helped me see this differently as she was talking about not being embarrassed about this.  But people out there might think that this success comes easy – but it's not all been plain sailing for Janet and I know for a fact that she works incredibly hard. And along the way there have been challenges.   In this episode we talk about  - How she went from journalist in the national press to successful business owner - How does she juggle running a really busy business with being a mum and how does she stay productive and motivated? - How to be more courageous and confident  - Insights into Janet's recent ADHD diagnosis, how it typically presents in women and how this can be both a curse and a blessing plus strategies she puts in place which she says gives her ways to cope  Connect with Janet: https://www.instagram.com/janmurrayuk/ https://www.janetmurray.co.uk/ Janet references Dr Ned Hallowell Book ADHD 2.0  https://drhallowell.com/read/books-by-ned/ Listen to Janet's Podcast Courageous Content  https://open.spotify.com/episode/6DKF7fvFmguKW12PNg3GBn?si=9f3140e2dccd4b3d https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/why-i-trolled-my-troll-and-dont-regret-a-thing/id1569783857?i=1000527084498 Connect with Jo Britton https://www.instagram.com/jobritton.mojo/ Receive my e-newsletter - weekly insights to put into action from the world of neuroscience to improve your personal performance without holding back and burning out email my jo@pacedevelopment.co.uk

In this episode I talk to Katie McCann a family lawyer and barrister because as we've been navigating through this pandemic, it's been affecting many of our core relationships.  And the  Charity Citizen's Advice has been reporting spikes in searches for online advice on ending a relationship plus many law firms have been reporting over a 100% increase in enquiries over the last 6-10 months.  There's also been a similar pattern around the world – particularly in countries where there's been some of the strictest lockdowns such as China.  Katie is founder of family law firm Lowry Legal. She specialises in helping separating couples on their journey from separation to the next phase of their lives.  She believes in treating her clients as whole people and understands that their divorce is only one phase in their lives. Helping clients emerge on the other side as stronger people is Katie's mission.  And she is turning the perception of the legal profession on its head because she believes that the legal profession can be stuffy and lawyers unapproachable.  This is certainly not the case with Katie.  So on this episode of mojo matters we explore family matters particularly in light of the impact that the pandemic has been having and get some practical guidance from Katie on what to do if you're in a challenging and emotional family situation right now.  And also Katie is massive inspiration in other ways too because Katie has a condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which affects her muscles, joints and ligaments.  She promised herself long ago that she would not let this beat her and sought to build up her strength as much as she could with resistance training!  This turned into a love of the body building sport, and she is currently on course to competing in her first bikini show in 2022.   We talk about the strategies Katie has for living with this condition.

I’m a tiger!  So do they really work? According to my amazing guest Carla Collins, they do. They’ve been such a powerful mojo fuelling tool that she now has a brilliant business Love up Love you which produces the most amazing scented affirmation candles – I say this with 100% certainty because I have Carla’s wonderful affirmation candles and as someone who has an obsession with candles, I can honestly say they’re the best I’ve ever bought.  Now Carla says she was inspired to create the business following her own journey of self-discovery which has taken her from Bondi Beach to London. And along the way she has discovered how positive affirmations lead to self-acceptance, self love and ultimately greater joy in life.  Because Carla says she got off to a bit of a rocky start in life and that family dynamics meant that home for her as a child didn’t feel like a particularly safe or nurturing place to be. She was also born with a physical disability that made her an easy target for bullies and she felt different, unsure of herself and not worthy of her place in the world. A great episode to harness the power of affirmations and change your life. Follow Carla Collins on Instagram @loveup_loveyouFollow Jo Britton on Instagrame @jobritton.mojoBelieve and Achieve - become a mojo member http:/bit.ly/mojo2021

Even writing things on her to do list that she’d already done just so she could cross it off… Now Em thinks that may sound crazy but actually there’s some really good evidence from the world of neuroscience and neurobiology of the power of ticking stuff off your list as means of sustaining your motivation and getting a shot of the reward chemical dopamine.  So back to Emma and her journaling, she says when she went from employed to self-employed she felt lost with no routine or structure and journaled her way out of it and it was a game changer.  Little did she know that was November 2019 and covid and lockdown was around the corner with people working from home and experiencing huge routine changes.  And so she felt she had an obligation to print her journal and share it with others to help them.   And it’s been helping so many people since. You can connect with Emma on Instagram @emmadeaker and find her Em-powered Journal. You can connect with me on Instagram @jobritton.mojo or join my Mojo Membership http://bit.ly/mojo2021

The one with Lisa Wimberger and how being struck by lightning on her 15th birthday profoundly shaped her life.  Because for the years to follow she experienced seizures that would 'take her out'.  Her heart would stop, her brain would shut off and she would experience cyanosis (when you turn blue).   Lisa says her body was in effect 'playing dead.' She was told there was nothing that could be done about her seizures and her flatlining. But she was given a name for this and a cause - stress.   Not accepting nothing could be done, and saying that she'd grown up rising to overcome anyone who told her she couldn't do something, she dedicated herself to researching neuroscience and the practice of self-directed neuroplasticity.  And she combined this with her meditation practice.  This led her to create the truly unique practice of Neurosculpting® which she used to heal herself.  She's never had a seizure since.  It's now a practice that has been helping so many people -  from those in law enforcement through to leaders in organisations - to release the grip of stress, trauma and negative thought patterns. And is helping others to create the beliefs and stories which inspire us to achieve what we want and deserve in our daily lives.  This episode is timed for the launch of Neurosculpting® in the UK, as I become the UK's first certified Neurosculpting® facilitator to help people through and recover from the stress of the pandemic.  And to enable you to live a mojo filled life with greater health, wealth and happiness.  In this episode Lisa shares her remarkable story, the neuroscience,  how Neurosculpting® works and how it can be applied to help you navigate daily life with less stress, overwhelm and with more confidence.

This is the one where it's Betwixmas, chrimbo limbo whatever you might call it - that time between Christmas and New Year - you’ve no clue what day of the week it is, you’re maybe still eating left overs and chocolate for breakfast Maybe you’re back at work, maybe you’ve been endlessly flicking through Netflix or perhaps you’re feeling like you've not much motivation to do anything. And even on a normal year without all of these restrictions and tiers, this period can feel like a bit of a slump can’t it?   So this episode maybe just gives you a bit of something to think about and be ok about how you may be feeling at the moment.  Because I’ve been catching up with people over the last couple of days, and a common theme in conversation has come up.  The events of 2020 have been making them reflect even more than usual about life, work, business, family, health and so on.     And some have told me that they’re feeling like they’re in a bit of no-man’s land and a bit directionless, they want to make changes to their life but they don't know what kind.  And some said they're feeling a built guilty about not feeling grateful for what they have or are dreading the New Year. So in this episode, I just want to address these points in case you relate to any of these too and share with you some stuff that may help.
