However, there have been some changes and other goings on in my life that are going to cause me to consider a difficult decision going forward. Please listen and try to understand. Grunge Icons, The People's Rock Band, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. These are just few of the descriptions that describe Pearl Jam for over 30 years! Whether it was sticking it to Ticketmaster or opening eyes and ears of listeners to what's going on in their own backyard and beyond, Eddie Vedder and company have lead the charge with no signs of stopping. Even their live shows including their most recent tour (which ended in the US a few weeks ago) have been hailed as religious experiences (and they have the Bootleg Live shows on CD to prove it!) There are many people who will argue when this episode ends this week. But there will be reasons for my placements of their 11 albums. Tune in, call up "Jeremy", finish making that "Wishlist", be nicer to that "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town" and feel happy to be "Alive"! This version of this week's episode is available on most streaming services and includes no song clips. This has been re-uploaded due to technical glitches in the system during recording of my #1 pick (how appropriate! HAHAHA) and has now been rectified. My apologies for any inconveniences. Heading up to Duluth, Minnesota this week with the best band to come out of the area. Since 1993, Low (led by Al Sparhawk) have been one of the most legendary indie rock acts that have had one of the most devoted cult followings ever. Not just in their hometown, but around the world as well. This week, we take a deep dive into the genre known as 'Slowcore' and discuss the eclectic discography that has garnered rave reviews over the years including back-to-back Year End Lists on Pitchfork for their albums "Double Negative" (2018) and "Hey What" (2021). A band that most people tended to let slip under the radar for over 20 years. Yet, they are one of the best bands from the emo genre that tended to focus on the positive than the usual whiny lyrics from that era. Even more so that they reunited in 2019 after what was supposed to be a permanent breakup 5 years prior. The reactions to the reunion tour and the release this year of the EP Silvermine (Their first album of new material since 2014) have shown that Anberlin are FAR from done. Led by Stephen Christian, the Florida based rock band have wowed audiences with their lyrical content, energetic live shows, and phenomenal musicianship that makes one wonder WHY OH WHY are they still not known by the masses!!! This week, I will tackle their discography and rank their albums from worst to best. In addition, I will also give my two cents on the new EP. This is probably one of my deepest dives in not only this genre, but also in my years of being a music nerd and the short history of this podcast. Despite only 9 albums since they started at the end of the 20th century, the band led by Tim McIlrath have cemented their status as one of the best political punk rock acts of all time. This past week, the music industry suffered a big tragedy as Michael Nesmith, who is famous for his time in beloved 60's band The Monkees passed away at the age of 78.  Nesmith was more than just a tall Texan in a wool hat in the world's first boy band.  He was a damn pioneer in the music industry.  He helped his band get complete freedom to record an album where they wrote their own tunes and played their own instruments.  He was also a big name in Country Rock in the early 70s inspiring acts from The Eagles to the Flying Burrito Brothers.  AND he was of the people responsible for the concept of MTV as he created the idea of a 'Video Album' and so many more accomplishments.  This week's SPECIAL episode will tackle all that as well as my ten favorite songs that I feel epitomizes Nesmith's career.  This list not only tackles Monkees tunes that he wrote, but also for his solo career and other high-profile artists during that era.  Join me, B.C., in a very poignant episode as we pay tribute to the one of the most unappreciated songwriters in rock and country history.  RIP Mike Nesmith. Consisting of the driving force that made AtDI great (Vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala and guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez) and a mixture of crazy math-rock guitar riffs, insane drum beats and passionate vocals, The Mars Volta would release only six albums in the 11 years the band had been together. Have you ever put out a product that caused people to decide a cheeseburger was more important? Have you ever been built up by a company just to be publicly assassinated (figuratively speaking, of course) on your next venture? Has anyone responded to your project by sending a video of a chimp urinating in its' own mouth? Well then THIS IS THE EPISODE FOR YOU!!! 2 weeks ago, B.C. ranked the albums Pitchfork rated a perfect 10 score. This week, he counts down the albums that got the rare (but humiliating) distinction of getting the Godawful score of 0.0. You'll NEVER believe the list of artists that got hit with this score. Normally we go worst to best. This time the countdown is from best (least deserving) to worst 0.0 (MOST DESERVED) Confused? So are we! Editor's note: I realize during the Liz Phair segment, the song I was talking about from "Funstyle" was "Bollywood" not "Hollywood". I apologize in advance. Otherwise, enjoy the roasting of these 8 albums! :) Follow the podcast on Instagram @randumb.albumb --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/randumb-albumb/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/randumb-albumb/support

One of the greatest artists to ever personify the genre known as "Heartland Rock", John Mellencamp's career has spanned almost FIVE decades. From his start in 1976 to the mainstream success of "Scarecrow" and Farm Aid in 1985 to a Broadway musical happening this year, you can't ever say he doesn't take things easy. Add some music awards and an induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2008) and you can understand why he's one of the greatest American poets in rock music. What was supposed to be a 2-part episode is now going to be an EXTENDED episode counting down from the worst to best the discography of John Mellencamp (Cougars included. :P). Whether you live in a "Small Town" or not, tune in. BC will have you "R.O.C.K. in the USA" til it "Hurts so Good" by episode's end.
