"The first reactions are coming in with a few albums of the month and a bunch of great reviews. The reception from from the fans have been stellar. So far, we have released two different kinds of songs from this album; one we released prior to the album announcement called Oxygen which is an obnoxious, dark, brooding, complex song at six minutes and 20 seconds. And then we released the song called Architects of The New Weave, which is four minutes, straight to the point, sing along heavy metal.So in between those two worlds is where this album lives, which I love. That's the cool thing about being in Evergrey. We we can do pretty much whatever we want and fit everything into the Evergrey package."In the full interview, Tom framed the material as a response to current global events and a perceived loss of compassion, citing the single The World is on Fire as especially timely. He explained production goals: deliver immediate songs that reveal layered, cinematic production over repeated listens, and keep the album concise to avoid the expense of a double-vinyl package. Tom also discussed guest vocalist Michael Stanne, chosen because the melody suited his voice, and acknowledged influence from Gothenburg peers including the late Tomas Lindberg. For Thrice drummer Riley Breckenridge, returning to Australia is never just another tour stop, it's a highlight etched deep into the band's history. From their earliest visits alongside Hot Water Music and Alkaline Trio to their most recent run in 2023, Australian audiences have consistently left a lasting impression. “The crowd response blew our minds,” Breckenridge recalls, noting that no matter the venue size, the enthusiasm has never faded.This upcoming tour sees Thrice bringing Horizons West to Australian stages for the first time, a record shaped by reconnection both musically and physically. Unlike Horizons East that was written remotely, West was crafted together in the same room, allowing the band to focus on how songs would translate live. The result, Breckenridge says, is some of their strongest live material in years.That sense of evolution also extends to Thrice's legacy. Phaeton (October 24th) of our third album "Neurogenesis,"Guest appearance from former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian (on the single "Isochron").Phaeton formed in 2017 in the Rocky Mountain resort town of Kimberley, British Columbia. Our drummer Colin had worked with Kevin and Dan and I in separate earlier metal bands and he gathered us all together to create something exciting and unique. Which ended up being all-instrumental progressive metal, akin to Animals As Leaders or Scale The Summit or Intervals, although we draw further influence from artists such as Rush, Mastodon, Gojira, Between the Buried and Me, Devin Townsend, and Dream Theater. We're somewhat insular and work in-house, with Kevin being our recording engineer and producer - our recorded output features crystalline sharpness, but we're a much heavier live act in person. We're currently promoting the imminent release (October 24th) of our third album "Neurogenesis," which features a guest appearance from former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian (on the single "Isochron"). Phaeton have shared the stage with such metal notables as Anciients, Bison, and Beyond Creation, and we make friends wherever we go.
