Welcome to another episode of the Media Boat Podcast. We start by waking up Green Day, now that September has ended, where Billy Joe Armstrong has some choice words for Las Vegas. Next, PlayStation Network went down, leading to flashbacks of the last time this happened in 2011. Later, Disney is consolidating yet another media department as it continues on the road to eliminating 7,000 jobs. We wrap it all up with California Governor signing into law some key legislation on digital gaming, AI likeness, and image use after death. We also have thoughts on Lady Gaga, Challengers, and I Saw The TV Glow. All this and more on this weeks episode of the Media Boat Podcast.
In 2004, Green Day were in a bit of an existential crisis. It had been a decade since Dookie went Diamond in the US and platinum around the world and their appearance at Woodstock 94 helped propel them to one of the biggest bands of their generation. And while big hits and successful tours followed throughout the 90s, I can understand that it's hard to find things to rebel against when your rich and famous. Their 2000 album Warning didn't light the world on fire and then their next attempt at a new album was scuttled once the master tapes were stolen. It would have been easy for Green Day to call it day at that point. However, Billy Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool decided to create a concept album that points out the lies and perils associated with chasing the American Dream against the backdrop of a neo-conservative government leading us into wars without justification. It follows the story of a young man from suburbia who wants out but finds that his dream of the big city is fraught with peril. And through all his trials and tribulations he manages to find love and the realization that maybe all wasn't so bad back in his hometown. But just because it's a concept album doesn't mean it's without radio friendly hits as it boasts chart toppers like Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Wake Me Up When September Ends, and The Wolf's favorite - Holiday. They have prog-like nine minute epics with different pieces which would rival those of YES and incredibly brilliant lyrics from Billy Joe against some of the best riffs of the era. No matter your side of the political spectrum, American Idiot will grab you sonically and then pull you in with intelligent lyrics that reflected what America was becoming and warning about things we see coming to pass today. It's an amazing album from a time when rock bands weren't given much press but Green Day still managed to not only make their masterpiece but have it celebrated all over the world. As we mentioned last episode, this one is our final one for the year, and we start it off on a really damn depressing and horrible note by getting into SCOTUS' overturning of Roe v. Wade and some celebrity responses including ones from Lizzo, Tiffany Haddish, Howard Stern, Billy Joe Armstrong, and Pink. From there, […]
Billy Joe Armstrong, the true American Idiot, is now claiming that he will renounce his American citizenship and move to London after SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade. The guys open discussing this, which leads into the clip of Marjorie Taylor Greene going off on a British reporter about mass stabbings in the UK. They then shift into a discussion about the creepy Tesla humanoid robots that will be coming out soon and how these will be used to replace menial tasks within the workforce. The second half opens with Dave's Tiktok where the guys explore videos about a massive motorcycle traffic jam, a fascinating large ant colony that was cemented, dinosaurs dancing in Portland, John Stamos being EXTRA fidgety on stage, and a BADASS Water Car that everyone should own. They close the show discussing Ghislaine Maxwell being moved to suicide watch and her impending sentencing. Buckcherry's Billy Rowe is the guest on today's podcast. In addition to his recent work in Buckcherry, Billy played rhythm and slide guitar in Jetboy, one of the pioneer acts of the incredible scene that spawned Guns N'Roses and Poison. Bad timing and plain bad luck meant that despite major label albums, Jetboy never scaled the heights of their peers. But stadium rock's loss is the guitar player's gain. After decades as a touring musician and tech, Billy Rowe had shredded guitars and rebuilt them over and over. Recognizing that he had plenty to offer the world of guitar making, Billy launched Rock N Roll Relics in 2005, driven by a passion to hand-build nothing less than all-round amazing guitars. His guitars are seen around the necks of Green Day's Billy Joe Armstrong, Gilby Clarke (Guns N Roses), Rick Nielsen (Cheap Trick), and Bruce Kulick, just to name a few.Check out Buckcherry on Tour next year in 2022: https://buckcherry.com/tour/Rock N Roll Relics Guitars: http://www.rocknrollrelics.net/Don't forget to take your good time with you!
The Rider is a series of podcast and video interviews that get the gritty details from some of rock and roll's greatest. From the process of bringing an album to life, to the gigs, the parties and everything in between. Fans want to know the hard work that goes into bringing entertainment to the masses and how the rock stars manage it all. This podcast is an ode to the rider: the thing that gets musicians through the grind of a tour and the punishing schedule of late nights and red eye flights. Whether it's their favourite brand of whiskey, or sweet, mellow tunes to get an artist in the zone. Most of all, The Rider gives true fans access to the raw, unfiltered experience of loving rock and roll. Listeners will feel like they're knocking one back at the Rainbow Bar and Grill on Sunset Strip. Becko has been rocking on the airwaves since 1997. This podcast is his tribute to decades of interviewing rock and roll superstars from Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Angus Young, Gene Simmons, Billy Joe Armstrong, Kevin Parker and Mike Shinoda. His most recent stint with Triple M in Sydney, Australia over 13 years saw Becko conduct a number of exceptional interviews, including heading backstage in Santiago, Chile to interview Iron Maiden for the start of their Legacy of the Beast tour in 2019. (Remember when we could travel?) These interviews have struck a chord with listeners getting write ups in Rolling Stone, NME and local music press. These are interviews that gets people talking, gets the listeners plugged in and sheds new light on fan favourites.
This has been quite a palaver to get this episode out, after two days of wifi problems I finally managed to get it out so apologies for that. Episode 38 of season 4 aired on 23 Sept 2021 at 19h00 on rebel Rock Radio. It was quite different due to the unusual amount of South African music from unsigned acts. We kicked off with The Clash by accident when Thin Lizzy 'Suicide' didn't load and I had to act fast with 'Clash City Rockers'. From there on it was an hour of classic rock with Motörhead, Ozzy, Van Halen, Bowie, AX7 and Rammstein.I spent a bit of time discussing how Dan Patlansky is not only one of the most talented guitarists on the planet but has also contributed to SA music more than most through his guitar clinics which have inspired many amateurs to get stuck in and start getting their music out there. Two such artists, Roan Ash and Roland Suttie are examples of this and were featured next. We also took a listen to Dean Smith and his track 'Freedom Fighter' under the Deanangersmith monicker. Dean is a SA Metal legend having been a mainstay of bands such as Odyssey, Ragnärok, Brothering, and Mouthful of Flies, he is absolutely prolific and deserves more recognition. He also doesn't give a fuck what you think and that is what makes him so endearing :-) We checked out another track from Mark Biagio and The Fismits and then got stuck into the brand new Stranglers album called Dark Matters. I was extremely complimentary and made it clear once again just how much I love The Stranglers. We did a bit of anger management with Fokofpolisiekar 'Angs Aanval' and Hatebreed with Black Flags 'Thirsty and Miserable. All in all, it was one of my most enjoyable shows. Hope you dig it. Artists featured: The Clash, Thin Lizzy, Mason Hill, Rammstein, Rob Zombie, Blue Öyster Cult, David Bowie Motörhead, Night Ranger, Ozzy Osbourne, Van Halen, Avenged Sevenfold, Tyr, Deanangersmith, The Fismits, the Pretty Reckless, Samantha Fish, Dan Patlansky, Roan Ash, Roland Suttie, ACDC, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Cinderella, Bon Jovi, California Breed, Gojira, Marilyn Manson, The Stranglers, Seether, Dirty Honey, Airbourne, Fokofpolisiekar, Hatebreed, Mark Knopfler, Foo Fighters, The Gaslight Anthem, Billy Joe Armstrong
With 75 million albums sold worldwide, Green Day is one of the best-selling artists of all time. In 34 years, the band went from being California teens in a punk rock band to Hall of Fame inductees in 2015. As of this year, Green Day continues to sell out arenas and stadiums with the Hella Mega Tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy (the latter inducted Green Day into the Hall, btw). When talking about Billy Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool, their fan base is practically split when discussing what their best album is. It's always a different answer every time. But this week, BC will be counting down their discography (including last year's "Father of All Motherf**kers") from worst to best. Where does your favorite rank? Tune in to find out! NOTE: My voice is going to sound a little weird on the 2nd half. I got sick during recording and took a couple days off to recover. Sorry for the weird vocals here. Welcome to Season 4, Episode 14 of The Story of Rock and Roll Radio Show. The show went live at 19h00 on 8 April 2021. We started with The Answer and a lame joke and ended with Mind Assault, a ridiculously good SA Metal outfit whose new album The Cult of Conflict is very worthwhile checking out. In between that we heard some really great blues courtesy of Gary Moore, Dan Patlansky, and Roy Buchanan before switching to a healthy dose of 80's Metal from Skid Row, Night Ranger and Ratt. I am currently reading Nothing But a Good Time: The Uncensored History of '80s Hard Rock by Tom Beaujour & Richard Bienstock so, you can expect plenty more 80's metal over the next couple of weeks. We checked out Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, as we always do and there is also some ACDC, Metallica, Thin Lizzy, and Black Sabbath buried in here. We dumbed down for Bloodhound Gang's ' Ballad of Chasey Lain' and Danko Jones and then slowed down for a while with 'Plaza' by Cold Chisel, Ian Moss demonstrating once again what a brilliant guitarist he is. We stayed slow for a ballad by LA Guns and then went to SA's finest in the form of Johnathan Martin with 'Highway to the Sun'. As always it was a jol, hope you enjoy it. Artists featured: The Answer, the Four Horsemen, Thin Lizzy, Live, Gary Moore, Karen Zoid feat. Dan Patlansky, Black Sabbath, Axel Rudi Pell, Roy Buchanan, Thunder, Ratt, Night Ranger, Skid Row, Bloodhound Gang, Billy Joe Armstrong, Slipknot, Probot, ACDC, Nazareth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ruff Majik, Danko Jones, Sixx AM, Mötley Crüe, Stiff Little Fingers, The Smiths, Foo Fighters, Smith / Kotzen, Greta Van Fleet, Cold Chisel, LA Guns, Johnathan Martin, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Mr Big, Kiss, ZZ Top, Metallica, Mind Assault
The Toronto-based powerhouse, Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs have been tearing up stages across North America with the likes of Fidlar, The Dirty Nil, Frank Turner and Billy Joe Armstrong's The Longshot, to name a few. “Real One” is the band's third full length album, and while the first two were already great, this is simply better – the band have all matured as musicians, the sound is fuller, richer and they managed to capture that live energy you get from them at any of their shows. Sam and I talk about all kinds of stuff including band's DnD sessions, which you can catch every Wednesday at 7pm EST on twitch (their handle is @coffeyandlungs). We also talk about the new record, and how they managed to achieve the sound they did and finally because he's from Toronto, we chat about some of his favourite spots in the city. In this weeks episode, I sit down and chat with recording artist out of Hollywood, California, one half of the "Swamp Gang" Wild The Coyote! Funny little story about this guest, I actually met him while I was at a Yelawolf concert in London, Ontario back in 2019! Him and BADD Wolf opened up for him while on his Canadian leg of the tour! Wild the Coyote used to be apart of a hard rock band, before embarking on a solo career! He is such a humbled and down to earth dude, who would give the shirt off his back to anyone! We talk about his love for music starting at such a young age, growing up in wine country in California! His real love for music really started when Green Days Dookie album came out back in the early 90s! He really wanted to be like Billy Joe Armstrong! He is now a very successful solo artist with many great songs in his library! My most favourite to date is Old Man! Credit submithub.com for the below words Wild the Coyote is a folk-rock musician who blurs the lines of genres and reimagines traditional forms of performance and storytelling. From the small country town of Templeton on California's central coast, his influences range from country legend Johnny Cash, Puddles Pity Party, & Yelawolf. In Summer 2017 he debuted new single and video for “The Boondocks,” from upcoming EP “The Phantom and the Black Crow,” which will showcase his newest blend of sounds including country, trip hop, and blues. Wild the Coyote's live show is a captivating experience full of Wild West inspired antics and gloom. In 2016, he sold out venues such as the world-renowned Viper Room on the Sunset Strip, and held multiple residencies, most recently at Hollywood's famous Hotel Cafe. Catalyzed by his 2016 release of "The Man on Top of the Hill" and "The Hollow Woods" featured on his Pandora station and YouTube channel, Wild the Coyote has garnered a loyal following in LA and beyond, as well as a significant online fan base. Marks is a country/rocker who writes and records autobiographical songs Canadian born star and former hockey player, and soon-to-be licensed pilot, Cory Marks launched his rise to fame with his crossover success with the track, “Outlaws & Outsiders," featuring country music icon Travis Tritt, Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch, and Mick Mars of Mötley Crüe. Shortly after its release, the song became a global hit, with over 21 million streams worldwide. It trended globally on the Shazam discovery charts, ranking among the greatest songs of all genres - including songs by Black Eyed Peas, Billy Joe Armstrong, and G-Eazy - illustrating the appeal of country rock music that transcends beyond genre lines. Full of autobiographical storytelling, guitar-driven anthems, drinking songs, and breakup ballads, Cory Marks' songs are rooted in the influence of his hometown, where he grew up surrounded by the salt-of-the-earth residents of North Bay, Ontario. The rising star and his new music have already earned placements in film. “Outlaws & Outsiders” is included in the Sno Babies movie soundtrack, a powerful film that deals with the topic of substance use disorder in the places you would least expect – middle-class suburbia. Marks' song, “Blame It on The Double,” will appear on another soundtrack, Better Noise Films release, horror spectacular, The Retaliators. Marks recently released his rendition of The Tractor's popular '90s holiday hit, “Jingle My Bells.” Marks chats with Buddy Iahn about his debut album Who I Am, the success of "Outlaws & Outsiders," and what's ahead. What does Let Her Go sound like when it's sung by Billy Joe Armstrong? What does a young girl's un-rosined violin sound like mid-recital? What will Elijah and Scotty do when all of their food is suddenly stolen? The answers to all these questions, and questions you didn't even know you had on this episode of Bad Improv!
Born on the day that OJ ran from the cops, taking her first steps on a tour bus in Helsinki, and getting her college recommendation letter from Gene Simmons, it was clearly in the cards that Frankie Clarke - daughter of Honest AF host, Daniella Clarke and guitarist, Gilby Clarke - was bound for a life of adventure! As a child she toured with her parents out on the road during Guns 'N Roses' heyday, and currently fronts the hard rockin' band, "Frankie & The Studs," a band with a mix of dirty Converse, messy black hair, slender hips and big kohl eyes. Frankie toured with Billy Joe Armstrong's side project, Longshot, and just signed with a new label! Check out the band's new video here.

Mixing country music with the hard-hitting stomp of rock & roll, Cory Marks makes his debut on Better Noise Music with his debut album, WHO I AM, out now.Guests on WHO I AM were inspired to work with Marks by his amazing spirit, in addition to his talent. Lzzy Hale, frontwoman of the band HALESTORM, who features on stand out duet track, Out In The Rain, offered her thoughts on Marks. “What inspired me to be featured on “Out In The Rain” was really Cory’s heart, you could really hear that he was speaking from his truth and you could just feel the pain and the purgatory of whatever was happening to him at the time that inspired him to write that song,” says Hale. “And my favourite part of the whole song is this conversation that Cory and I are having. It’s such a realistic look at love and a couple’s journey together. My favourite part is that you can’t really tell no matter how many times you listen to it. Are they breaking up? Are they getting back together? Are they just weathering the storm? I think you should decide.”The album was produced by award winning Kevin Churko (Five Finger Death Punch, Shania Twain, Ozzy Osbourne) and his son, Juno Award-winning producer, songwriter and engineer Kane Churko (Papa Roach, Skillet). All together the album consists of 13 songs, including smash hit, Outlaws & Outsiders and other fan-friendly tracks like Blame It On The Double, Devil’s Grin, Better Off, and the latest single Drive – telling stories of heartbreak, hell-raising, and everything in between.“I’m really excited to finally have this record out! WHO I AM tells stories of the last 5 years of my life,” says Marks. “The good, the bad and the ugly. The highs and lows of life and I think everyone is going to relate to at least one song on this album. It’s a mix of rock, country and a bit of metal. I like to think of it as if Ozzy Osborne, Merle Haggard and Eric Church created an album it would sound like this. There’s nothing out there both in country or rock like this and I’m really proud of that. I hope to steer country music in a whole new direction with this project, turn it up and enjoy!”The global hit Outlaws & Outsiders, is the song that Billboard Magazine called “the 2019 hit that couldn’t be confined” and Country and Rock fans agree. It hit the top 10 at Rock radio in US, top 12 in Canada, and is currently #5 at Rock radio in Germany, trending globally on the Shazam discovery charts ranking among the greatest songs of all genres - including songs by Black Eyed Peas, Billy Joe Armstrong and G-Easy - illustrating the appeal of Country Rock music that transcends beyond genre lines. It has over 12 million streams and over 20 million video views, globally, and was also included in the SNO BABIES movie soundtrack, a powerful film that deals with the topic of substance use disorder in the places you would least expect – middle class suburbia. From it's breathtaking design to its innovative construction, there's an aesthetic and comfortable quality that is unmatched by other guitars. Find out why everyone from Billy Joe Armstrong to Keith Richards plays the Gibson Hummingbird. This entire episode is dedicated to talking about the Gibson Hummingbird. I want to celebrate one of the most eye-catching guitars and talk about alternatives that still hold up to the Gibson Hummingbird. To start this Hummingbird themed episode, I want to talk about the TOP 5 reasons why you should at least consider playing a Gibson Hummingbird. Reason #1: All current Gibson Acoustics are made right here in Bozeman, MT Now, I'm currently living in Bozeman, so there's a little bit of a bias, but I still think this is significant. The Bozeman factory has a very high standard for production, especially when making as many guitars as they do! Supporting the local economy and builders/technicians in my community is always a plus. Be sure to watch the episode to see the inside look at Gibson's Bozeman factory! Reason #2: Gibson's flagship square-shouldered dreadnought is the Gibson Hummingbird Before 1960, there wasn't a Gibson square-shouldered dreadnought that was mass-produced. Martin seemed to dominate the market prior to 1960, but when the Gibson Hummingbird came out, it changed the market forever. Differing from Martin's square-shouldered models, the Gibson Hummingbird had pizzazz and a completely different aesthetic look that has captured the hearts of guitarists for the last 50 years. When you pick up a Gibson Hummingbird, you're holding history...and I think that can't be ignored. Reason #3: Aesthetics Trifecta After talking about the square-shouldered design, I realized that the Gibson Hummingbird really captures an aesthetic trifecta. What do I mean by that? The first thing that makes the Gibson Hummingbird a beautiful and balanced guitar in its looks is the split parallelogram inlays on the neck. The contrast between the classic, rigid lines of the inlay on the smooth rosewood neck is just awesome to look at. The second notable visual quality on the Gibson Hummingbird is the cherry burst top. The color of the Hummingbird's top is unmistakable, copies widely, and is absolutely gorgeous. The third quality that completes the trifecta is finely engraved pickguard. There's a little bit of a hippy-vibe, a country-vibe, and a nod to the beauty of the natural world. There are very few guitars that are so clean, classic, and iconic. Reason #4: Comfort You might have heard about the scale length of the Gibson Hummingbird, but if not, just now that this guitar is incredibly comfortable and suitable for players of all sizes. The first thing that makes the Gibson Hummingbird is the scale length. The scale length is 24 3/4 inches as opposed to 25 1/2 inches on other dreadnoughts. The Gibson Hummingbird also a very slim nut-width. This allows the string spacing to be smaller, accomodating small hands and fingers. The final thing that makes playing the Gibson Hummingbird incredibly comfortable to play is a slim, tapered neck profile. For a guitarist with smaller hands that wants the sound of a big-bodied dreadnought, you can't go wrong with the Hummingbird. Reason #5: The Birth of a Gibson Series Think of the Gibson Hummingbird as the lead domino in a trend of Gibson guitars. To me, the Hummingbird kicked off Gibson's dedication to birds. It all started in 1960 with the Gibson Hummingbird. From there, we move to the Gibson Dove. After that, there was the Gibson Doves in Flight, the artistic take on the Gibson Dove. After that, we moved to the Gibson Firebird acoustic with phoenix engravings. Then, we move to the Eric Church Hummingbird model. And that's just the acoustic guitars dedicated to birds! There's a lot more that I talk about on this special episode of Acoustic Tuesday dedicated to the Gibson Hummingbird, so be sure to watch the full video or catch the show notes on acousticlife.tv today! ★ Request your invite to Tony's Acoustic Challenge today: https://tonypolecastro.com/al-request-invite/?ref=INVITE&src=AL ★ All show notes and links: https://acousticlife.tv/at134 ★ Get the show: https://tonypolecastro.com/get-acoustic-tuesday

Yesterday was October 1st which meant the meme about waking up Billy Joe Armstrong from Green Day was everywhere! But is it worse than the Justin Timberlake ‘It’s Gonna be May’ meme? McCall wants to make more wreaths to decorate for Halloween, but none of the front of her house is done, so can she put it up or will it look trashy? Risk is exhilarating, but it can go too far. A cell phone without a screen protector? That’s living life on the edge! And don’t get AJ started on the lack of door locking in Utah! How do you live your life on the edge for the Debate At 8? AJ & McCall came up with their own conspiracy theories when they were both logged out of Facebook everywhere, but it turns out it was hack. Even more disappointing, our Facebook passwords just aren’t worth that much.

Billy Joe Armstrong. Flotteste mand med eyeliner siden 1988. OG forsanger i Green Day. FeedBack w. Wes Nyle. EP31. Political Skews. 11.12.12This past election has me reminiscing of who I was in my teens. Certainly who I am now is shaped by the music I’m listening to currently. But how much of my views were shaped by artists when I was showing up late to class and smoking cigarettes in the parking lot of my high school. In my early twenties I had good friends of mine tell me that I helped shaped who they were, their style, the music they listened to, political opinions. And I’m sure that’s true because I’m amazing in almost every way. But was it all me? Or were my beliefs molded by artists like Justin Sane of Anti-Flag, and Tim Armstrong of Rancid, then simply regurgitated while sitting in technical theatre class learning nothing.I didn’t come from any type of hardship. Not like the musicians I respected and emulated. I grew up with a dad who taught Government, and Economics and a Mom who remarried a Pharmacist. There was nothing left to be desired, materially. But there is something inside a teen, a fire that can’t be explained or quenched. When I had the time I would spend too much of it at a second hand music shop, being molded the guy that worked there. I can’t remember all the music he introduced me to but I do remember one day before I left he, convinced me I needed to hear Plastic Surgery Disasters by the Dead Kennedy’s. I took it home and sat in front of my stereo, wondering what kind of cruel joke was this that the older guy I trusted with my musical development was playing on me. Jello Biafra’s chipmunk voice blasted my eardrums as I waited for the real singer to jump in at any time. Later on, the lyrics meant more and I thought about who I was and if I was going to turn out like the adults in my life. The track Halloween started me on this path of dress and attitude. I was going to be whoever I wanted to be. As long as I looked and acted like my heroes.I remember going to Wal-Mart and buying a navy blue sweat shirt. I cut it down the middle and buttoned it up with safety pins so I could look like Billy Joe Armstrong in the Green Day poster I had hanging in my room. I cut my hair and spiked it like Matthew Lillard in SLC Punk minus the blue hair die because, well you know, my parents weren’t having that. I learned all the quotes from I Blow Mind’s For A Living: Jellow Biafra’s spoken word, and read it in speech class for an A. I listened to Rage Against the Machine when I skipped class and drove to Chick-Fil-A with my buddy. This was before they were raging against their own machine. I was convinced I was changing the world. There was no question that I completely understood what these bands were fighting for. So I fought with my dad, the high school government teacher about how a socialist society could be great, and how anarchy was a peaceful alternative to democracy. I told everyone to vote for Ralph Nader. And never saw the contradiction in any of it.The summer I graduated I turned eighteen and fought with my dad about not wanting to send in my selective service card. I wasn’t going to potentially be forced to fight for a fascist régime I didn’t believe in. Eventually I sent it in, because I wasn’t going to move to Canada as an alternative either. It’s too cold. Along with that the election was happening and I should have been rushing out to register to vote but, at this point I was to interested in all the other things I could do that were slightly more exciting and debaucherous. By the next election season I was more apathetic to the internal conflicts of the US and instead wanted to make art, write, and listen to others interpretation of the world. The closest I ever came to voting was when someone signed me up to vote under the Green Party while I was walking into Eeyore's Birthday while living in Austin. It wasn’t at that moment but I did later understand that I didn’t know anything about America, or how any of the systems work. Nor did I care. I didn’t vote that year and George W. Bush won his second term. This podcast isn’t a statement. The anti-establishment, anarchist me died when I turned eighteen for some reason. Did big brother win? Or did the thrill of making a difference with my voice die when I turned the appropriate age? Like knowing you can stay up as late as you want once you have your own apartment. I’m not sure. But recently as I listen to the music that shape my teenage mind I feel like maybe I’m more like those heroes than ever before. I embrace my apathy. The more I listen to the cries of that slightly older generation, the more I think that maybe they weren’t trying to warn me of what was happening to me now. But who me and my friends would become if we chased these impossible pursuits, or tried to perpetuate these futile mottos.Turns out all these songs I believed were political… All these songs about the government’s manipulative tendencies… were really just a squeal for understanding from our pears. Well if that’s the case I understand. I understand that frustration of an artist isn’t something an elected official can cure better than a ripping guitar solo and loving fans that admit they are in the same boat.Solidarity – RancidRotten Future – Anti-FlagAnarchy In the U.K. – Sex PistolsHalloween – the Dead Kennedy’sSLC Punk – Look Like A Bum SpeechNo Pride – Green DayTake the Power Back – Rage Against the MachineDie For Oil Suckers – Jello BiafraAmerican Jesus – BadOpen Your Eyes – GoldfingerMotto – Less Than JakePride – No Use For a NameI’m So Bored With The U.S.A. – The Clash
