I am a Fulbright Scholar, a member of the US Department of State alumni community, an educator, and a humanitarian. I am passionate about strengthening the capacities of educators and empowering them to create a better, more equitable education system.     Rohingya Refugee Children and Their Future

The Rohingya crisis, one of the world's most dire humanitarian situations, has left countless families displaced and seeking refuge. As of September 2023, a total of 965,467 Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh have been officially registered and provided documentation through collaboration between the Government of Bangladesh and UNHCR.     In a recent UNICEF report (2020), nearly 1 in 4 girls between the ages of 15 and 19 are neither employed nor enrolled in education or training, compared to 1 in 10 boys. Every day, children and adolescents are exposed to gender inequality in their homes and communities - in textbooks, in the media, and among their caregivers. Education, however, has the power to transform lives, and in Malawi - East Africa, education and technology are being harnessed to achieve gender equality and equity in the classroom. I had the privilege of speaking with Malawian educator and Fulbright scholar Ms. Agape Musopole. She has made a significant contribution to the promotion of gender equality in the school system.
