This story, reported in The Washington Post on May 8, 1896, involved students like Im Byung Goo and Ahn Jung Sik, supported by diplomat Suh Kwang Bum amid Korea's late-19th-century turmoil after the Sino-Japanese War and Queen Min's assassination. The album's 14 tracks draw from influences like trip-hop and old-school hip-hop, produced by Pdogg, Kevin Parker (Tame Impala), Flume, JPEGMAFIA, Mike WiLL Made-It, Ryan Tedder, and Diplo (executive producer on tracks including “Body to Body,” “FYA,” “Like Animals,” “One More Night,” and “Into the Sun”). The concept emphasizes maturity, cultural resilience, connection, distance, and reunion—echoing "Arirang" as Korea's unofficial anthem with over 60 regional variations.Visuals feature the members in formal suits inspired by early 20th-century portraits, mirroring the 1896 students. The promotional campaign, "What Is Your Love Song?", includes interactive installations and billboards in Seoul, New York, London, and Los Angeles.Post-release highlights include the Netflix-livestreamed comeback concert BTS The Comeback Live | ARIRANG on March 21, 2026, at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, plus the 2026 BTS World Tour: ARIRANG launching April 9 in Goyang, South Korea—spanning 82 shows across 34 cities on five continents, with North American stops in Tampa, Las Vegas, Baltimore, Toronto, Chicago, and Los Angeles.Analytic Dreamz analyzes how this comeback bridges BTS's global K-pop dominance with deep Korean heritage, marking a reflective evolution for the group.Tune in for a detailed cultural and musical breakdown of BTS's Arirang era.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/analytic-dreamz-notorious-mass-effect/exclusive-contentPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

2015 veröffentlichte Arirang Prognosen über 2025. Wie wahr haben sich diese behauptet? In dieser Folge nehmen wir sie genauer unter die Lupe!

St Timothy Presbyterian Church

Scripture PassageIsaiah 62:1-5Worship Video Worship Audio Sermon ScriptGod never forsakes you. God never abandons you. God never deserts you. But, even though God never forsakes you, sometimes you feel forsaken, abandoned, and deserted.Even our Lord, Jesus, experienced the feeling of abandonment on the cross. He cried out, my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?St. Paul also experienced the feeling of abandonment. We have become the scum of the earth, the garbage of the world right up to this moment. (1 Corinthians 4:13)That was what Israelites experienced when they lost their home. They experienced the abandonment when they were exiled.Korean people experienced this kind of abandonment when they lost their country. Many of your parents experienced that when they lived under Japanese occupation. They felt abandoned. When you lose everything, you feel forsaken. That was what Palestinians and also Israelites experienced last 15 months. They lost so much. They lost their loved ones. Finally there is a cease-fire agreement with a tinge of uncertainty. We need to pray for them. Also, this is what people in LA experience right now. They lost everything. They lost their homes. Many people do not have an insurance because the insurance company does not accept it because of frequent fire.Feeling of abandonment.(Last Sunday, elder Min told me that her friend lost her house and down the road, her son also lost his house. She gave elder Min money to treat our Wednesday Bible study.)I am sure people in southern Tibet feel the same way after the earthquake.Feeling of abandonment is what we experience in life.Your experiences may not be as dramatic as war, fire, and earthquake, but you experience different kinds of abandonment in your own way. When life is difficult, we feel lost. We feel that nobody really cares. The world is getting more and more selfish and self-centred.Me first has become our philosophy. We used to say me first is not a good attitude. Now it is our way of living. Very different from Jesus' teaching. We don't even know how to feel others' suffering and hardships. As long as nothing happens to me, everything else doesn't matter. When the world becomes selfish and self-centred, what will be the result? We get the feeling of abandonment. People will feel neglected, forsaken, and abandoned. We become an invisible man and woman, like the book invisible man by Ralph Ellison.Ralph Ellison said in the book, I am invisible, understand, simply because people refuse to see me. That is a big reason for us to go to Sioux Valley every year.Indigenous people in this country experienced the greatest abandonment. When their children were taken away against their wish, they felt so abandoned.Children also felt abandoned when they had to leave their homes and their parents and live in a foreign place. We just want to tell them that we care. You are not alone. That was what Gord Downie, the Tragically Hip's frontman wanted to do. He wanted people to remember them. He wanted to tell them that they are not alone. That is why we are starting a new project with Cuba. They were isolated especially because of the US embargo. They were an island isolated from the rest of the world. They are not an island just physically; they are an island politically, economically, and psychologically. We want to go and see what is going on there. Because we care. Also, this year, we want to reach out to Evangel Hall who is doing the work for the homeless people in the city.We used to be heavily involved in the Evangel Hall mission but since Covid, we have lost touch with them. We want to renew our commitment to their work.Homeless people all felt abandoned. We used to go out on Boxing Day with sandwiches and went to homeless people on the street.Feeling of abandonment is probably the worst human emotion. When you are abandoned, you lose hope, joy, and motivation to live. When the Israelites were in exile, they lost the desire to sing. This is well captured in the psalm.By the rivers of Babylon there we sat down and there we weptwhen we remembered Zion.On the willows therewe hung up our harps. For there our captorsasked us for songs, and our tormentors asked for mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion!'How could we sing the Lord's songin a foreign land?If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither!Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth,if I do not remember you,if I do not set Jerusalemabove my highest joy. (Psalm 137:1-6)It captures the feeling of Israelites feeling abandoned in a foreign land.A famous Korean song, Arirang, captures the Han of Korean people.Han is a special Korean word which captures complex emotions of grief, anger, resentment, and regret.Han is what you have when you are abandoned. The word became a very important word for Korean theologians. .If you leave and forsake me, my own,Ere three miles you go, lame you'll have grown. It captures grief, anger, resentment, and everything when you feel abandoned. This song captures Han of Koreans. To Israelites who experienced abandonment, God gave these words. You shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land shall no more be termed Desolate;but you shall be called My Delight Is in Her,and your land Married; for the Lord delights in you,and your land shall be married. (Isaiah 62:4)In the world, you may experience abandonment. You may experience life's tragedies. You may experience rejection and alienation by the powerful evil system. You may experience hurt and pain by your loved ones, by your family, by your friends.Sometimes, you may feel like you are a motherless child. That was what indigenous children in residential schools felt. That was what many black sisters and brother felt in America. That was what many Tibetans felt under Chinese occupation. There are many old people who live in isolation. They feel useless and unwanted. They feel abandoned. But my friends, you are not alone. You will never be alone.God never forsakes you. God never abandons you. God never deserts you.God will lift you up. God will crown you with honor. This is what Isaiah said. You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. (Isaiah 62:3)God will wipe your tears. God will take away your shame.God will restore you. God will bring honor to you.You are like a precious child to God. Will God ever abandon his precious child? No. He won't.You are people of God's promise. You are in God's good hand. When you know this, you will not live any more feeling abandoned by the world.Even though the world may still treat you in that way, you will be strong. You know that you are a precious child of God and God honours you. So, you can handle the abandonment of the world. It's Ok not to be invited to the Inauguration of Trump like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Shou Chew. The post Not Forsaken appeared first on St Timothy Presbyterian Church.

2024 irodalmi Nobel-díjasa a dél-koreai Han Kang lett. Following December 7, 1941, the United States government interned 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry evicted from scattered settlements throughout the West Coast states, yet why was a much larger number concentrated in the Hawaiian Islands war zone not similarly incarcerated? Tom Coffman is a political journalist and leading historian of modern Hawai‘i, author of six books, and director of six documentary films. His latest book is Inclusion: How Hawai‘i Protected Japanese Americans from Mass Internment, Transformed Itself, and Changed America. In making sense of the disparity between Island and mainland, Inclusion unravels the deep history of the U.S. “sabotage psychosis,” the causes of the internment , and the unique set of forces in Hawai‘i that preserved its interracial harmony through the depths of war. Each year the cathedral chooses a theme for inspiration and reflection, and in 2022 our theme is connection. Marking Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, join Dean Malcolm Clemens Young and his wife Heidi Ho - a native Hawaiian - for a conversation with Coffman about how small groups with a common goal and working cooperatively can result in wondrous social change. You can help us bring the arts to life at Grace with a gift today to The Forum. Text "grace" to 76278 or go to gracecathedral.org/givetograce. About INCLUSION “Brilliant and meticulous, Tom Coffman reveals the people and forces that spared territorial Hawai‘i's Japanese populace from mass removal after Pearl Harbor and enabled its sons to serve America gallantly in World War II. The heroes of this true story…were inspired by an idealism and aloha that the world can learn from today. Based on groundbreaking research, Coffman's compelling account gives them recognition that they richly deserve.—Mark Matsunaga, Hawai‘i journalist, and World War II historian About the Guest Tom Coffman is a political reporter and author of six books, including Nation Within, Catch a Wave, Island Edge, and Tadaima! His book in progress is titled Social Justice Work. A decade ago, Gangjeong Village, in southern Jeju Island, was swarmed by local, domestic and international protesters demonstrating against the then-under construction South Korea naval base. Fast forward to present day, and the base has opened. But protests persists in the sleepy fishing village. The bridge that leads into town is a strewn with protest banners and a Catholic shanty erected a decade ago remains and is used for protest masses. Recently local politician Kang Min-sook found herself in controversy when she suggested that this history be "erased" in order to attract tourism to Gangjeong. She quickly apologized. However, her sentiment is that the remaining protests prevent tourism in the town from taking off -- which is one of the base's stated purposes. So, we ask: What should be done with Gangjeong? The pair also discuss recently released statistics about rental car accidents in Jeju. And they are taught an insult from teacher Ju Young Han during Jeju Dialect Corner. They also interview Jamie Lee, the host for Arirang's "Wonders of Jeju" program that airs seven days a week from 10 p.m.-12 a.m. She is also an English-language anchor for KCTV. An Album a Day is my exploration into the Korean music scene. This podcast will cover mainstream, indie and some underground artists within the scene and provide both factual and opinionated commentary. The biggest benefit to sharing my thoughts this way is that it will hopefully expose you to more great music and exploration of your own.Its the middle of winter in North America and the covid-19 pandemic experience is almost a year old in the United States. Through your support of the show -- both through reviews, listenership, and in some cases, financial contributions -- the pandemic bumped A3Day around a bit but didnt end. Thank you! Being the host of this podcast is a true joy for me and a true energy drainer while juggling responsibilities away from this microphone. Therefore, there will be a long break between this season and the next. During this time, I will be participating in guest spots on other shows, mentoring, supporting the development of a brand ambassadorship program within the podcast community, researching and developing episodes for Season 6, and preparing details for the potential return of the podcast festival my team hosted in 2020. Most importantly, Ill be resting. It might not sound like it, based on what I just shared, but know that Ill be basking in rest. We arent finished yet, k-pop fans. First, our final idol group of Season 5, the men of AlphaBat, right after the drop.Youre tuned into An Album a Day. Show start.Hey yall, in 2012 two young men were set to debut as AlphaBAT under an agency called YUB Entertainment. By the time the group made its debut in 2013, one fully departed the scene while the other, Shin Selin, changed his stage name to Iota -- the ninth letter in the Greek alphabet -- and was joined by eight other young men, all named after letters in the Greek alphabet. You would think that he would be the leader since he was an original member, but that belonged to the member who went by Beta. Alpha was reserved for their fandom. Allow me to break down the name of AlphaBATs members, past and present:Ji Ha Yong, aka BetaYoo Yeong Jin aka Epsilon, the older brother of Ricky of boy group Teen TopLee Yeon Woo aka LambdaLee Yong Hun aka KappaKim Jun Su aka GammaKim Sang Hun aka Code, whose name isnt in the Greek alphabet and who almost made his debut with EXOChoi Yeon Soo aka Delta, who almost made his debut with boy group BOYFRIENDLee San Ha aka Fie (Pi)Seol Jun aka Heta, another almost-EXO-memberShin Se Lin aka IotaKim Su Yeob aka Jeta (Zeta), andCho Gyu Min, who went by his first name and left the alphabet aloneThis was during the time when double-digit groups were the way to play, trying to compete with the behemoth that is was? the original EXO lineup, numerically brought to us by the efforts of Super Junior. Well learn more about these groups later down the line. After leaving YUB Entertainment, AlphaBAT made their home at Simtong Entertainment and technically made their debut on November 12, 2013, with a performance of AB City for Arirang: Simply K-pop. Countdown for the first time and just what was the reason for rejecting the Arirang moment? Is it because thats South Koreas premier English-language television network? Who knows, but things went well, apparently. The positive reception sent them into the release of their first studio album, Attention, released February 25, 2014.I remember the debut singles video. I was tickled by the refrain of the English alphabet and overwhelmed by the size of the group. I found them somehow by way of another large boy group called Topp...

While the federal government weighs options on reopening the economy, protests erupt as Americans proclaim "Liberty or Death," arguing that their rights are being infringed upon in the midst of the coronavirus lockdowns. On the heels of last week's startling claim by President Trump--that he had "total authority" as President--many individual states are facing the economic reality of maintaining shutdowns due to coronavirus. However, in light of all the concerns about authority, authoritarianism, and the overreach of government, some are wondering what Martial Law, if it were to occur, would mean for the forthcoming 2020 Election. Meanwhile, as some states hope to reopen sooner rather than later, others are concerned about how the federal government might intervene if they are concerned whether reopening businesses could lead to the spread of more coronavirus cases. In midst of the debate, Americans are now protesting, claiming that state government lockdowns are an infringement on their rights to work, observe religious practices, and other fundamental activities. With America already between a rock and a hard place, even harder truths may await... and something inevitably will have to give. We assess the situation this week on Middle Theory.
