Set a new rhythm for your day and week that supports and sustains where you are now, and what you are creating and managing these next three months, into June Solstice. When you pause at near the equinoxes and solstices, your internal rhythm aligns with the natural rhythm... you gain the power to reset habits that might have been okay in months prior but need a shift. And you gain clarity on how to focus your life force so what you spend your time, energy & money creates what you desire. Power pauses are leadership best practice, a wise way to run your business, organization or team, and I believe a must if you want to stay sustained and sane in a world in which we feel so much pressure to do so much. And then don't have what we need to sustain ourselves. Every year I hold power pauses at this 4 key shifting points, the equinoxes and the solstices, March, June, Sept and Dec - within the Feminine Wisdom Way Wisdom School, some virtually, some weekend retreats and some for companies and organizations in which we do "Cyclical Strategic Planning." I do this because this yearly practice of pausing 4x a year I believe is something most of us where not taught how to do, but when we do it, everything in our life works in better harmony. It's how I run my life, business, partnership, relationships, and grow what is important to me. Each power pause has a different focus and flavor depending on the time of the year. In Feminine Power Time, I can't share with you entire power pause process for March Equinox but I can give you a 40 minute power pause with 4 simple but mighty inquiries - like a mini Harmony Adjustment for your life 1. Look at your sacred work and career - what is in harmony? What is out of harmony? What is calling for your attention? 2. Look at your relationships - what is in harmony? What is out of harmony? What is calling for your attention ? 3. Look at your health, wealth, home - what in harmony? What is out of harmony? What is calling for your attention now? 4. What if you chose to create from a place of joy? What would JOY feel like in you or for you? Bonus. What is ONE habit or pattern in your morning flow that isn't in harmony to keep doing into this next season? RELEASE this. Then what is ONE habit or pattern you can EMBRACE and place into your morning flow this next cycle? We don't give up everything or go militant. At the root of all the over-giving and over-self-reliance and much of the burnout and imbalance we experience is a big old old root ball called "OVER RESPONSIBILITY." We've been imprinted and conditioned by our society and family systems to take OVER Responsibility for the needs of people, projects, and the planet - and we have willingly put way too much on our shoulders and backs, often as an unconscious way to deal with our fear, feelings of being undervalued, and not enough (no matter how outwardly successful things may look). Consider this: What might have been in alignment to take responsibility for or embrace ownership of as your part, may not be in balance now or going forward. Wisdom: The systems (both those you create, and those you work and live within) will take everything you give them, and there will still be more to give. So... until we take a stand of self-advocacy + stop filling the gaps and taking more and more of the burden and responsibility, there is no incentive for anything to change ... in your work, team, family, friends, marriage, projects, even the things you care deeply about on the planet. Many of us operate like banks that give more withdrawls than deposits, resulting in imbalances in our relationships, wellbeing, money, jobs, businesses and projects that lead to undue suffering, struggle, and sacrifice. We OVERgive - time, energy, resources, care, and mindshare -- to projects, people, our passion and our purpose. We UNDERReceive the time, energy, resources, care and mindshare we need and desire. As a result, eventually we burnout, become resentful, get sick and discouraged, or quit. We don't SEE the imbalance or the ways we OVEReffort, work, extend, etc. until we get to the drama, distress or dis-ease. One of the breakthroughs I discovered in all my research around burnout and sustainable success and wellbeing is that we don't have to wait until the extreme imbalance hits our bodies, beings, bank accounts, relationships or brains. We can use the power of Cyclical Living to pause (usually around March Equinox) and take a look around our life, work, relational, & wellbeing design, illuminate the imbalances, and then take simple but significant steps to make shift happen. Wisdom: If you can reveal the specific ways you overgive, you become empowered to shift the imbalances. Which is what we will do together in this Ep 234: Where Are You OVERGiving & UNDERReceiving? (#2 of 3 in Burnout to Balance Series). Where are you: Giving more than is needed? Giving more than is in harmony? Giving more than you can afford to give? Over extending? Over compensating? Over efforting? And then go deeper to reveal... Which OVERgiving imprints are running you, and where are the roots? Then you can make shifts that liberate you from patterns that don't serve anymore. Practices to re-wire the giving/receiving equations & expectations so the exchanges stay in balance vs become imbalanced. I do this survey of the landscape of my life, projects, relationships, purpose and work every year, because every year there is a new insight and something new to work with that supports me to do and see things differently. Self esteem, self confidence, ability to take care of oneself, sovereignty, self sufficient ... these are all good things to possess and embody. Monikers of internal strength. However, when one thing become over-used or valued, or the other side of the spectrum isn't present, things get out of whack, our lives and bodies become imbalanced, and we get stuck in situations and chronic challenges that keep us in survival or stress mode. Consider this: "We have become so self-sufficient as self-empowered humans that we have become overly self-reliant." Most people I encounter suffer from this invisible dis-ease of Over Self Reliance, we feel it but don't have the words to see it, and therefore transform it. We become so used to doing whatever needs doing, we don't pause to consider what help we need to do it. We don't consider if we don't have the resources we need, maybe we shouldn't take it on. We've grown so accoustomed to fight for what we need or just barely scrape by that we've gotten used to making do and doing more ourselves. And honestly, there have been many times you and I have needed support or help, and it just wasn't there. That has been our shared reality. Yet, we are each being invited to shake off the over-self-reliance to find a more balanced exchange ... even if we cannot see how that is possible, yet. Ask yourself: Where may I be operating from over self-reliance? One I may have needed before, but that now, at this phase in my reality, is not serving me? WISDOM: Where you are OVER self-reliant, you are also UNDER supported, UNDER cared for and UNDER connected. As we go into this next cycle, and look ahead at what we desire to create for ourselves, those we care for and influence, and the world, two thing I do know for sure is this: HOW we do this must be done together. It's the design of how we create a different reality, rooted in wholeness, compassion, interconnection, inclusion & sustainability. Our relationships are a big part of both our personal and collective healing & elevation. The time of the lone wolf, hero, guru, star, indivdual leader is done. The time of putting the world on our backs & doing it all on our own, and sacrificing ourselves for our cause, company or just mere survival needs to be complete. As we watch the world around us transform, one thing we want to really open our eyes to is the realm of our Relationships and what I call our "Webs of Connections". So much of our personal and collective transformation and elevation can only happen in relationship ... to other people, and to communities, groups and eco systems of people. Our relationships - the ones we have or the ones we lack - are where we work through our wounds, heal our hearts, return to wholeness, and as result become like agents of elevation in our families, partnerships, teams, communities, companies and the larger world. Our relationships are the how we move out of working in ways that make us sick... how we create a culture in which people are compassionate, collaborative and inclusive... how we create a reality in which people stop making choices from fear and instead open their imagination to see different possibilities where there is enough for all. I am curious ... Do you have the relationships you need now, and to create the next? What are the relationships + webs of connection that will support you to grow, express in your full genius, & be sustained now and in the next? We are now 90 through the 365-day practice challenge I started in January. This episode is a check-in to see how everybody is getting on with it, and if you haven't started it yet, I will go through everything you need to know to get started.
Consider this: You career is your path. Your vocation is your calling. Which means as long as you stay true to yourself, live your design, and stay open to learning and evolving... you will make choices in the jobs you take or don't, the 'vocations' you say yes to, and the organizations and people you choose to work with that are aligned for you. If your career is a path, that means that it will have turns, uphills, downhills, weather systems, and unexpected events. It's not a straight line or a ladder - although the over culture conditions us to believe so. If you are a person who has dared to follow your truth, heart and deeper knowing, you have likely stepped outside of what is deemed normal, smart or successful. Good for you! That is what we do as co-creators who feel empowered vs. cogs who follow the rules or worse sharks who eat others for lunch to get ahead. We are at a threshold and big shift in the evolution of humanity - transformation, changes, uncertainty, structures breaking down - of which we are individually a part of. The wise ones PAUSE to consider where we are NOW and where we want to go NEXT in our careers and the vocations we say yes to. We work with the energy intentionally vs. being worked over by it blindly. That's why we are doing this power pause series on Feminine Power Time - Wisdom for Thriving Now & Creating What's Next. In this episode, #207 (#2 of 3)- we will focus on your Career (path) and Vocation (calling). I will share wisdom on both as well as take you into these 3 inquiries: 3 Co-Creative Inquiries 1. We are meant to work in collaboration, synergy and be supported and sustained as we give our gifts and genius and live well. Self Empowerment.... Be Empowered... Own your Power ... Stand in your power ... these are words that we see and hear alot more these days, but what does embodying our power really mean? What is self-empowerment? What does sovereignty have to do with all of this? How do you know if you are coming from your pure power rooted in wholeness or distorted power rooted in woundedness? How do you reveal where you are giving your power away - leaking power - in subtle but signifcant ways? I've been exploring, researching and teaching self-empowerment as one of the 10 branches of self-love for over a decade. I first heard the word sovereignty in 2006 and it rang through my body like a deep truth I knew in my bones, but didn't have a mental understanding of. Being the wordsmith and wisdom student I am, of course I looked up the current definitions of both - unsatifactory. I started studying power and realized pretty quickly how distorted our cultural concepts and expressions of power are. And I dove deep into where we as humans, especially women and girls, give away our power in unconscious ways. Or express power in distorted ways that actually diminish our influence. Over the years I have created new defintions of power and sovereignty, practices to strengthen both, and ways to reveal where our leaks and strengths lie. For starters - here's the definition of self-empowerment Self-empowerment is choosing to take care of and responsiblity for your life by acting to create the life you really desire, without apology or requiring approval from others. Our human heart needs love to thrive just like our lungs need oxygen to survive. We are taught to be strong, have self esteem and project confidence. We desire to have meaningful ‘relationships’ in both our ‘romantic’ life and ‘friend’ life. But most women I know are lacking the connection, support, intimacy, affection, and acknowledgment they need and desire in both areas of their life. Why? We are weak receivers. It's time for a Power Pause! 4 Inquiries to Ask Yourself To Feel Your Impact, Focus Your Work for the Months Ahead & Reset Imbalances in Work or Relationships Vernal March Equinox is one of the four most powerful times of the year to take a 'power pause' and reset your rhythm, patterns and habits so they support you to create the life, work, relationships you desire to create. It’s also the time to consider HOW to focus your life force, time, and resources in your work, relationships and personal desires. When you pause at this time, your internal rhythm aligns with the natural rhythm... you gain the power to reset habits that might have been okay in months prior but need a shift. And you gain clarity on how to focus your life force so what you spend your time, energy & money creates what you desire. Power pauses are leadership best practice, a wise way to run your business, organization or team, and I believe a must if you want to stay sustained and sane in a world in which we feel so much pressure to do so much. And then don’t have what we need to sustain ourselves. Every year I hold power pauses at this 4 key shifting points, the equinoxes and the solstices, March, June, Sept and Dec - within my Feminine Wisdom Way training, some virtually, some weekend retreats and some for companies and organizations. I do this because this yearly practice of pausing 4x a year I believe is something most of us where not taught how to do, but when we do it, everything in our life works in better harmony. It’s how I run my life, business, partnership, relationships, and grow what is important to me. Each power pause has a different focus and flavor depending on the time of the year. In Feminine Power Time, I can’t share with you entire power pause process for March Equinox but I can give you a 30 minute power pause with 4 simple but mighty inquiries that will : 1. Show you what you have already done this year and how you are making a difference - so you can RECEIVE the rewards of your effort and FEEL the impact you are making. If you don’t stop to acknowledge yourself, you never feel like you are doing enough, your brain does not register this as a reality so you keep pressuring yourself to do more, and you miss receiving the emotional feelings that come with recognizing your impact that fills you up, and gives you fuel for what is to come. 2. Reveal the imbalances in your work, relationships and patterns so you can re-balance the exchange of what you are giving and what you are receiving. Equinox is the time to pause and really take a look at where the exchange between what you are giving to your work, relationships, projects, people, mission, are in harmony and where they are out of harmony. One big way you create overwhelm for yourself is over giving and under receiving. This creates financial stress, health stress, relational stress, all the stuff you don’t want into your life. So you reveal the imbalances and then take empowered action to shift them. 3. Name what you really desire to focus your energy on in your work and your relationships that may not be profitable or productive, but that you know would light you up or would help you create the new reality you desire for yourself. Most people never get to their deeper heart and soul’s desires because their lives are packed too full, they are too busy. Or they feel the stress to make money and so don’t feel they have the space to work on things that are not money making. But in the feminine wisdom way, we believe that we must create space for these projects and relationships that are like deeper callings from our heart and soul that fuel the expression and elevation of our work and life. Bonus. We release a habit or pattern that doesn’t serve us any longer as we go into the next season - we don’t give up everything or go militant. We choose a few things to elevate and release, and also receive pleasure too.
