The Philadelphia Flyers played their worst period in weeks to start this game in Madison Square Garden, and when you couple a mediocre-at-best performance with a red hot Igor Shesterkin, the New York Rangers won handily in a game with significant implications in the wild card race.Owen Tippett opened the scoring, directing a puck off his skate on the rush for a 1-0 lead, but it was all Rangers after that.Bill, Charlie & Steve break down the loss, and what it means for the Flyers playoff chances and the upcoming schedule.
Elizabeth and Lewis reunite to bring you all the latest fantasy news and strategy, such as how our siblings would fare if called on to fill our roles like Owen Sillinger did for bro Cole. Then it's onto news including coverage of the postponed CGY/LAK game and defensive injuries piling up in MIN and putting some strain on Gustavsson's performance. Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan's wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD's hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson's rollercoaster in light of Chychrun's production. Elan also chimes in on Jordan Staal. In this week's episode, we break down Igor Shesterkin's shiny new 8 year by $11.5 million contract, and what it means for the New York Rangers going forward. We discuss comments made on social media that goalies don't deserve big contracts, and why we disagree with them. Finally, we evaluate the goaltending selections for the 4 Nations Faceoff tournament, and what goalies we feel may have been left out.

Has reality set in on the Detroit Red Wings season? Tune in as we start by discussing Derek Lalonde's squad's two most recent losses, including a late heartbreaker against Brady Tkachuk's Ottawa Senators (including a brutal call on Marco Kasper, Alex DeBrincat scoring against his former squad, Norris beating Husso, & more) (4:25) and a "same old" loss against the Colorado Avalance (including Lucas Raymond's goal off a Dylan Larkin shot & not much else) (16:00). We then get into whether this season is a write-off and Steve Yzerman's Hockeytown team is truly in tank mode for Hagens, Schaefer, Martone, Frondell, or Misa, with players like Kane, Compher, Copp, Tarasenko, and others not performing and only the likes of Larkin, Raymond, DeBrincat, Moritz Seider, and Simon Edvinsson carrying the team (20:40). We then discuss how bad the rest of the Atlantic has been including the Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens, and Ottawa Senators, before discussing whether Sebastian Cossa should get playing time with Alex Lyon and Cam Talbot still out (39:48). Finally, the Jacob Trouba saga ends, how Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings played into the story, Drury escaping the contract and paying Shesterkin, & more (including Luke Richardson being fired) (52:55) before we take your questions & comments in our Overtime segment (1:05:35) - enjoy! Frank and Jason are back with a fresh edition of The DFO Rundown and to kick things off today, they discussed what went down on Friday with the New York Rangers as they made a pair of significant moves. First, they traded their Captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks and managed to get out of his entire contract then just a few hours later, they came to an agreement with franchise goalie Igor Shesterkin, which was the richest contract ever given to a goaltender. With all things considered, was Friday a win for GM Chris Drury? Or is there now pressure to add? The guys discussed that and also talked about why the Ducks wanted to make this move. The other piece of news from late last week was the third coaching change of the regular season. The Chicago Blackhawks fired Luke Richardson after just over two years behind their bench and replaced him with Anders Sorensen. That led to some talk about how the Blackhawks are handling their rebuild and whehter or not they're on track in the Connor Bedard era.Tyler then popped in for Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys a little bit more about the Ducks plans and also how much longer Blackhawks fans will have to wait until they're finally watching their team back in the playoffs. To wrap it up, Jason talked about the Eastern Conference playoff picture as things begin to tighten up. Can the Penguins actually stay in the hunt? Out West, Frank had some questions about the Dallas Stars.1:10 - Rangers trade Trouba11:40 - Shesterkin's record extension21:50 - Blackhawks fire Richardson33:20 - Fill in the Blank41:00 - Eastern playoff picture46:20 - Western playoff picture1:02:10 - Board of Governors previewWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team?
