NASCAR and its team owners, with two notable exceptions, have come to an agreement on the extensions of team charters, with an announcement on the extensions coming in advance of the opening of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs last weekend. The two exceptions – 23XI Racing, co-owned by Michael Jordan and NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin, and Front Row Motorsports, owned by restaurant operator Bob Jenkins – are taking different approaches to where they want to see things go from here. Jenkins has not commented on why he didn't sign; 23XI, through Jordan and Hamlin, has been outspoken on why, citing terms that the team doesn't think are favorable for the long-term.

Rusty and Mike talk about their love of King of the Hill and what you can expect from this episode-by-episode podcast. In this extra Friday episode, they talk about some minor reoccurring characters in King of the Hill. Monsignor Martinez (voiced by Mike Judge) – The Monsignor is a gun-toting priest antihero on the show-within-the-show called Los Dias y Las Noches de Monsignor Martinez, a favorite of many of the principal characters. Clips of his program are often inserted into episodes as part of a running gag. In one of the episodes, Hank mentions that Martinez is an undercover cop. The clips of his episodes which appear on the series usually feature him just about to kill one of his nemeses while solemnly uttering his catchphrase, "Vaya con Dios"; often preceding a melodramatic explosion. In the 8th-season episode "Flirting with the Master," the actor who plays Martinez invites Peggy to Mexico City to tutor his children, and she mistakes his interest for romantic passion. A live-action pilot was filmed featuring the character, but never aired because FOX didn't think it would have been a good idea to have a show about a Catholic priest shooting people. Lane Pratley (voiced by Dwight Yoakam in the first appearance, Dave Thomas in later appearances) – Lane is a sleazy car dealer who owns "Pratley Ford" and "Pratley Hyundai," and as he says, "I got my eye on Pratley Cadillac—my daddy ain't doing so good." Mark Buckley (voiced by David Herman) – Buckley was the slacker boyfriend of Luanne. He was killed in a propane explosion by his own negligence while working at Mega-Lo Mart in the second season finale, having dragged a propane tank by the valve instead of its handles resulting in leak. Officer Brown (voiced by Fred Willard) – Officer Brown is a local police officer in Arlen who is not averse to tampering with evidence and taking bribes from illegal food operations, as explained in episodes 20 and 11 (respectively) of season 12. Jack (voiced by Brian Doyle-Murray) – Jack is Hank's mentally unstable barber. Eventually, his distress affects his ability to style hair, causing Hank great embarrassment. Jack was almost forced out of business when a trendy salon named Hottyz opened across the street, but he was able to secure Luanne and Bill's services after Hottyz fired them when they learned Bill was not the homosexual hairstylist he'd been posing as. Eustace Miller (voiced by David Herman) – Eustace is a wimpy, mustachioed patent lawyer and father of Bobby's classmate Randy. Bob Jenkins (voiced by Henry Gibson) – Bob is a veteran reporter for The Arlen Bystander and is Peggy's main rival there. His left eye was scraped out of his skull because he had a brain tumor, leading him to wear an eye patch. When Peggy thinks the "Waffle House beat" is beneath her, Bob takes it over and breaks the story of Dale as "The Smoking Bandit." In "Bystand Me" (his debut episode), he tells Peggy that whenever he gets writer's block, he hires a prostitute. Miss Kremzer (voiced by Jennifer Coolidge) – The teacher at the beauty school Luanne went to. She is very condescending towards Luanne in her first appearance. After Hank's speech that gets Kremzer to change her grade for Luanne, she acts sympathetic along with the other students, but is right back to her previously displayed bad attitude in subsequent episodes. Sharona Johnson (voiced by Dawnn Lewis) – A girl that goes to the same beauty school that Luanne went to, Sharona is hardworking and intelligent but is also very arrogant and puts down Luanne constantly. Chris Sizemore (voiced by Chris Elliott) – A real estate agent that Peggy once worked for after she wrote a scathing article about him in the Bystander for which she was consequently fired. Gary Kasner (voiced by Carl Reiner) – An elderly Jewish man who serves as Tilly Hill's new love interest following her separation from Cotton. Learn more about your ad choices. The morning of Wednesday, July 20th, 1864, broke warm, promising another sultry summer day. It would spawn the first offensive action for the new Southern Commander, John Bell Hood and his gray forces as he took over the defense of Atlanta for the Confederate States of America in the fourth summer of the war. What began as a golden opportunity to repel Northern General William Tecumseh Sherman and his blue legions from the gates of the Gate City, as Atlanta has been called, became a day of missed chances, broken dreams, and for a number of the Rebel leaders' soldiers, a grave. The Battle of Peach Tree Creek marked the beginning of the end for the Confederacy, for it turned the page from the patient defense displayed by General Joseph E. Johnston to the bold offense called upon by his replacement, General John Bell Hood. Until this point in The Georgia Campaign, the Southern Army had fought primarily in the defensive, from behind earthworks, forcing Sherman to either assault fortified lines, or go around them in flanking moves. At Peach Tree Creek, the roles would be reversed for the first time, as Confederates charged Union lines. On March 9th, author Bob Jenkins was note that Peach Tree Creek marked the beginning of the end for the Deep South and the Confederacy. Peach Tree Creek would be the first in a series of defeats and set-backs from which the South would not recover. Before Peach Tree Creek, there remained some semblance of hope for victory and Southern Independence. After Peach Tree Creek and the defeats at Decatur and Ezra Church which quickly followed, there could be no more hope of a military win by the Confederacy. After Peach Tree Creek, and its companion battles for Atlanta, the clear-hearing Southerner could hear the death throws of the Confederacy. Robert D. (Bob) Jenkins is an attorney, practicing in Dalton, Georgia. A life-long Civil War enthusiast, Bob has given numerous battlefield tours and lectures on the Atlanta Campaign. His first book, The Battle of Peach Tree Creek, Hood's First Sortie, was published in 2013 by Mercer University Press. His second book, To the Gates of Atlanta, covered the 1864 Atlanta Campaign from Kennesaw Mountain to Peach Tree Creek.
