Outdoor education is what Brett lives for! She is the program director for the Outdoor Education program at Future School of Fort Smith in Arkansas. The small school is a non-profit, public, charter school. Her program focuses on removing barriers of entry to the outdoors for 10-12th grade students from low income or otherwise unstable backgrounds. A large percentage of her students are BIPOC and/or LGBT+. Most of our her students have never set foot in a natural area despite living in the natural state. As you know, one of the largest barriers of entry is cost, so we completely remove that. Our program is completely free for our kids. They get equipment, qualified instruction, and transportation to all of our activities. Her school has a three pronged approach to Outdoor Education. They start our program off by zeroing in and developing communication and leadership skills, then blend Outdoor Recreation activities with classroom lessons about public lands, ethics, and natural resources. In the classroom they focus hard on public land management and administration, legislation going on around public lands, Leave No Trace Ethics, and stewardship. They also have a unit on how the Outdoor Industry is a driving force in economics and what kinds of jobs are available in the industry.Support the show (https://www.herbrotherhood.com)

The European Union has given Belgium until late on Monday to overcome opposition to a free trade deal with Canada from its French-speaking region or a summit to sign the pact that could boost both economies is off, EU sources said on Sunday. "I think it's impossible. We've decided to return home. I'm really, really sad. Truly." — Freeland. "Roll up your sleeves and don't leave." — Conservative trade critic Gerry Ritz to Freeland. A new season of Canada's Worst Driver on Discovery and the new series Tougher Than It Looks? begins tonight at 10 p.m. Host Andrew Younghusband joins the show. A University of Ottawa professor is speaking out against a flashy, hard-to-ignore fundraising campaign by Toronto's Hospital for Sick Kids that uses "war as a metaphor" for the experience of living with a disease. Michael Orsini, a professor in the school of political studies, recently co-authored an editorial that calls out the hospital's new four-part "VS" ad campaign, which depicts patients and former patients literally fighting back — as boxers, wrestlers and soldiers — against the illnesses they're facing. Lori Davison joins the show to explain further. Times they are a-changin' — and diapers need changing, too. With more fathers shouldering a greater share of the child-care load, a London men's group is lobbying local businesses to make diaper duty easier for dads. Dad Club London, a support network for fathers, created a petition asking family-friendly establishments to install change tables in men's washrooms. Earlier this month, the United States passed a law requiring all public federal buildings, such as courthouses and post offices, to include baby stations in bathrooms for both sexes. Brett Roberts, a member of Dad Club London joins the show and gives his thoughts.
Typically actors and musicians looking for some income insurance will develop a couple of flexible skills like waiting tables or bar tending that will get them through the leaner times. Today s Happy Hour guests have a couple of diffrent takes on that concept. Olga is a blues musician, singer songwriter, stunt woman, actor, and violinist who pads her showbiz income by reading romance novels for audio book company Audible and conducting weddings for sky divers and people getting hitched at the wedding chapel in the French Quarter. Brett Roberts makes movies. In his down time has been a cop and currently makes training films for Louisiana lawyers who apparently need continuing education to remind them not to steal off of the clients. Yes, this is absolutely true. These days you can t apparently fall back on shooting or acting in porn. Kay Charbonnet doesn t have much down time. She spends most days hanging out on Magazine Street near the epicenter of destruction where she has a store, called appropriately Kay s, where she sells "dope sh t" and has little time to read which is why she listens to Audible books.
