Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Trevor Dahl over Zoom video! Trevor Dahl of multi-platinum EDM trio Cheat Codes returns with soul-stirring new track, "Best For Me," an orchestral ballad that sees Dahl grapple with forgiveness and acceptance as he ruminates on his ex. "Best For Me" is the third single off of his forthcoming debut EP, After Ours.Earlier this year, Dahl introduced the EP with romantic ballad, "Can I Kiss You" and later revealed "After Ours," the EP's title track that revealed a more rhythmic side of Dahl's repertoire. He also recently collaborated with Josie Dunne on "Stay The Way I Left You", a catchy and charming duet that stole the hearts of listeners. .Before he was collaborating on electro-pop hits with Trippie Redd, Demi Lovato, Liam Payne and Fetty Wap, Trevor Dahl was making music on his own terms. With the rapid rise of Cheat Codes with bandmates Kevin Ford and Matthew Russell, the trio has made it a priority to also focus on their own creative endeavors. Now, going by his surname, Trevor makes music as “Dahl” in a project parallel to Cheat Codes, returning to his solo roots. With a hybrid of current influences from Bazzi and Lauv alongside the lyricism of John Mayer, Dahl proves himself to be a triple threat: a writer, producer, and mixer. Dahl is a rare talent who can truly do it all!We want to hear from you! In 1989, he received a phone call that his sister had been raped. As he held the phone tightly to his ears, he simply could not believe what he was hearing. Mike decided to make a difference. As he researched the issue of sexual assault and dating on college campuses, he constantly heard students complaining that most sexual assault seminars were boring and depressing. Mike knew what needed to be done. With his background in entertainment, he created “Can I Kiss You?” – a fun, interactive, and thought-provoking program that focuses on why “asking first” makes all the difference. Since 1990, Mike has been motivating and igniting change around the world. Today, he is one of the most sought-after speakers, authors, and subject matter experts.  In addition to his speaking and writing, Mike Domitrz founded and is currently the Executive Director of The DATE SAFE Project. Through interactive presentations, creative educational resources, and unique national initiatives, The DATE SAFE Project is committed to being the nation’s leading organization for creating healthier dating environments, a clearer understanding of “consent” and for raising awareness on the many issues surrounding sexual assault.

This episode drops New Year's Eve Eve 2018, so just 2 days until 2019 begins to unfold. This week's Patreon bonus is one of my favorites from this year. We are doing a little New Year's ritual with some really beautiful self-reflective questions, I read two VERY erotic poems (shivers), and we're writing invitations for 2019. Ev'Yan Whitney on Episode 231 3. Dr. Lori Brotto on mindfulness, libido and sex in Episode 227 2. Staci Haines on trauma, healing, and consent in Episode 235 ...and the most shared, commented on, and emailed about episode was... 1. Andy Izenson on transformative justice and masculinity in Episode 221 Now, on to your amazing questions. Curious Vanilla wants to know of any feminist sex toy shops in Canada, so I share my three favorites. Womyns Ware in Vancouver, The Traveling Tickle Trunk in Edmonton, and Come As You Are Co-Op out of Toronto. Happy shopping, Canada! Awkward is dating her friend's sister. The problem? She never told him and now they've been dating for over a year. Plus, her girlfriend recently found out that Awkward had a previous sexual relationship with this guy (the girlfriend's brother) and feels uncomfortable with their continued friendship. What can Awkward do? Anonymous recently learned her neighbor is secretly into crossdressing and being dominated while doing housework. Now he wants Anonymous to be his Domme. He's so eager to come over and clean her house. The problem? She's not a Domme and not really into the whole thing. What the heck should she do? Lookin' 4 Love is desperate to know when will men stop sucking!? She's been hurt by so many men, including the men who seem less toxic and more self aware. Is she doomed? Are there ANY good men out there who aren't steeped in toxic masculinity? She's awesome and wants to find someone awesome to be with. And you know what? Lookin' 4 Love isn't wrong. Privilege is invisible to those who possess it, and it takes a lot of CONSTANT work and checking to begin to unpack it. There are men out there who are doing this work and doing it well, like Imran Siddiquee and his colleague Jonathan MacIntosh of "Pop Culture Detective". Also, Mike Domitrz of "Can I Kiss You?"  Finding rad dudes who are unpacking masculinity and speaking to other men about what they're finding is super important, and the good news there are more and more men doing this work. But hurt is inevitable in love and life, so it's not only about finding really rad men, but also building our own resilience in our own lives for being able to hold that hurt. Finally, I end the show with deep deep gratitude for you, dear listener. It means so much to me that you listen and continue tuning in, so hear my end of the year thoughts. One of the perks of my job is getting a chance to read a lot of books about sex, sexuality, kink, and relationships. Some are terrific, some are OK, but it's always fun to learn new things and take on new perspectives. I recently had a chance to read Mike Domitrz's new book, "Can I Kiss You?" and one of the things that most delighted me was the fact that the book is simple enough for teens to understand it but deep enough to be relevant for folks who have been married for 3 decades - all while being entirely gender neutral. So, this week, Mike and I had a lovely talk about consent, respect, rape, sexual assault, dating, hook-ups, why married folks in 40 year marriages need consent as much as teens dating for the first time, and we even roll around in Donald Trump and Rush Limbaugh. Mike's examples are approachable and realistic - it's clear he has dedicated his life to rewriting the rules we have about dating and consent. And while I have had several consent experts on the show over the years, I have a feeling Mike's approach and perspective will really hit home for a lot of you. ESPECIALLY the parts about interpreting body language incorrectly. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed recording this practical and critical interview. But they move from the dark place into the light by perseverance, love, understanding and curiosity.Of there is a lot of setting goals and taking huge action tooBack in 1989, he has a phone call that changed his life.He had been advised that his sister had been raped. What could he do to help? What could he do to support his sister?Well for two years, he struggled to deal with the rape and the effect it had on his life – both as the brother of a rape victim and as a male. He transferred colleges – so he could be close to home and his sister during the trial. And once back home with his family, he saw the pain, rage and sadness his parents, relatives, and family friends were also going through. The sexual assault of his sister had changed many people’s lives. And it was with this dawning realisation that an assault like this was as much based on lack of understanding of what is the correct way to conduct yourself with someone else, as it was a crime. It was the worlds lack of understanding, or specific training in regards to the the personal right of personal standards that was the problem.Could he change the mind-set of youngster, adults and anyone with a sexual urge to realise that there was a way of interacting with each other that wasn't happening. And over ten years, he worked, talked, discussed, reviewed and developed training to teach the "Can I Kiss You" platform, where he uses humour to break down the barriers of this taboo subject. And now he travels the world bringing his message to the world. As he says ""I do feel the work is a calling. The traveling does not get tiring because I know I'm going somewhere to get the opportunity to open minds and inspire a new way of thinking. I get the wonderful honor and opportunity to plant the seed for them to take care of and nourish."He is an author, speaker, father of four and husband to his beloved wife, and now here ready to join up his dots, so its with great pleasure that I bring onto the show the one and only solopreneur and man on a mission Mike DomitrizLinks:Cover imageClick to view: show page on Awesound
