Really Interesting Women - the podcastEpisode 131SARAH WILSONSarah is best known for being the founder of the global I Quit Sugar movement, a digital wellness program with 13 award-winning books that sell in 52 countries – which saw millions around the world transform their health. In 2022 she sold the business and gave everything to charity. She is an experienced journalist and broadcaster. She was previously the editor of Cosmopolitan Australia at age 29; host of MasterChef Australia; was a News Corp journalist and columnist; and has hosted ABC's Compass, Ten's The Project and has been a regular panellist and news commentator on Australian, UK and US screens for two decades. Her New York Times bestseller First, We Make the Beast Beautiful is described by bestselling author (The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck) Mark Manson as, “The best book on living with anxiety that I've ever read”, and was featured as the book of the year on NBC's Today Show. It's published in 27 countries. Sarah's most recent title, This One Wild & Precious Life, won the 2021 US Gold Nautilus Prize. She has been ranked in the top 200 most influential authors in the world (two years in a row), and now resides and works most of the year in Paris where she lives and loves a minimalist life. And this all reads like a bit of a career dream. But there have been plenty of nightmares along the way. Our discussion on resilience I found fascinating as well as finding out (to Sarah - and probably all of us in reality), what really matters. All these findings of hers are the result of countless hours of research and interviews and one of the many things I took away from this is the importance of nature. In the grand finale Nat was up against Tasmanian butcher, “Pezza” two very different cooks each with a unique set of strengths. Hi Guys, welcome back to TV Reload. Thank you for clicking or downloading on today's episode with Mimi one of the eliminated contestant on Masterchef Australia for 2024. I had a technical difficultly on Monday and while we could have just left this chat and sent it to the gods… so many people demanded I circle back and that I think has lot to do with Mimi's popularity. Born in Hong Kong, Mimi moved to Sydney aged one, but returned to Hong Kong to live at age 11 for seven years with her beloved grandma - following her parents' divorce. She and brother were raised in humble Hong Kong public housing, her grandma instilling in them the philosophies of being a nurturer, cook and caretaker. Mimi is highly curious cook as an adult and audiences really connected to Mimi's honesty and integrity this season. Her background in teaching is proof that she is woman who enjoys learning and pushing herself. There has been something quite beautiful in what she brought to the Masterchef kitchen. We will unpack the inner monologue that occurs when filming reality TV and what the week has been like since exiting the competition. This is a great opportunity to talk about who Mimi would like to see win the show and I will flip the question in a way on who the favourite judge has been this season We will talk about her student and what the feedback has been like this week. We will dive deep into the thought you can control your edit and I think people will enjoy Mimi's behind the scenes secret that involves some of the pranking that happened this season. There is so much to unpack with Mimi. So sit back and relax as we unpack her time in the Masterchef Australian kitchen. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Hi Guys, welcome back to TV Reload. Thank you for clicking or downloading on today's episode with Harry the most shocking eliminated contestant on Masterchef Australia for 2024. This season finishes up on Tuesday night next week on Network Ten with only a few episodes to go! With fond of memories of helping his Mum and Dad in the kitchen as a kid, Harry really embraced cooking around age 12, influenced by his family of good cooks, and heritage spanning Northern Italian, English and German. Super passionate about sustainably harvesting seafood, Harry has been known to swim for hours in search of crayfish, even in shark-infested waters! He finds it incredibly rewarding to dish up something delicious he has harvested for family and friends, and has a huge respect for fresh produce, not letting anything go to waste. Harry was a popular personality right from the start and I feel like in years to come we will remember his time in the Masterchef kitchen as one of the greats - even though he dropped out a week before the final. We will also unpack the pressure of cooking fish (his skill set) in that final elimination. I call bullshit that he was overwhelmed by the celebrity chef but we will get to the bottom of that. I will ask about getting married in the first few weeks of the show and what his now wife thought of juggling their special day with his filming requirements. We will also discuss personality vs skill in the Masterchef kitchen and he will address his winning edit that fooled most of the viewers. We will even dive-deep into the producers of the show and if they try and sabotage the cooks to control the outcomes… Which is quite hilarious! There is so much to unpack with Harry. So sit back and relax as we unpack his time in the Masterchef Australian kitchen. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Have you ever made a really bad decision? Made a call that you couldn't undo? It's a fear for many, and for others, living with the reality of a ‘roll of the dice' gone wrong, is cause for great sadness, and discomfort. But, there is wisdom in mistakes. And for Poh Ling Yeow, learning to own her bad decisions, meant she could move forward with empathy and acceptance. A skill she's honed through a life of ‘magooing' to her way onto our screens through Master Chef, into our kitchens through cookbooks, and very much into our hearts. (Ref. Mr. Magoo). In fact, the level of maturity Poh is able to bring to so much of her life, is unlike anyone we've ever met before. Links mentioned in this episode.

Hi Guys, welcome back to TV Reload. Thank you for clicking or downloading on today's episode with Darrsh the 17th eliminated contestant on Masterchef Australia. Which is on Network Ten next week changing from Sunday through to Tuesday nights at 7:30. Growing up the only child of Sri Lankan parents, Darrsh's love of food was heavily influenced by his late father, a chef in an Indian restaurant whom Darrsh would watch in the kitchen, in awe. To this day, his Dad remains the biggest influence on how Darrsh approaches life, with passion and creativity, two traits that he brought to the MasterChef Australia competition in spades. Darrsh will unpack everything from ‘the everything cook', to peas and crab shells and what he thinks about potential chefs auditioning for Masterchef. We will also unpack the pressure of the time restraints, the commentary from the gantry and what happens to you when you leave the Masterchef kitchen! Hi Guys, welcome back to TV Reload. Thank you for clicking or downloading on today's episode with Sumeet the 15th eliminated contestant on Masterchef Australia. Which is on Network Ten from Sunday through to Wednesday nights at 7:30. A love of food is in Sumeet blood, embedded deep in her Punjabi culture and engrained in her family upbringing. Growing up in, India, Sumeet has fond memories of her parents throwing parties when she and brother would keenly watch the preparation and planning process. After studying hotel management, Sumeet forged a career in sales, but has always known deep down that food is where she belongs. The kitchen is a meditative space for Sumeet, a stressful day remedied by time spent cooking. I think Australian audiences have fallen in love with her and her sauce. I can imagine her brand being on my shopping list for a long time. Sumeet will unpack everything from bacon and eggs, the pressure to cook within her cultural heritage and why she believes Jean Christopher is her favourite judge. We will also unpack the Masterchef kitchen in of the dynamics between the cast and if there were any jealousy overly competitive contestants this year? There is so much to unpack with Sumeet. So sit back and relax as we unpack her time in the Masterchef Australian kitchen. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to Fabulously Delicious, the French Food Podcast, where we explore the cuisine that laid the foundation for modern cooking. I'm your host, Andrew Prior, enchanté. After competing on MasterChef Australia, I now live in France, sharing my love for French food, meeting local chefs and food producers, and indulging in amazing wines and over 1500 varieties of French cheeses with you, my fabulously delicious audience. Today, we delve into the world of Mariage Frères, one of France's most prestigious tea brands. The company's history dates back to the 17th century when King Louis XIV encouraged exploration for exotic goods. Nicolas and Pierre Mariage's voyages for the royal court laid the groundwork for their family's involvement in the tea trade. In 1854, Henri and Edouard Mariage officially founded Mariage Frères, and for 130 years, the family maintained a wholesale tea business, introducing innovations like the tea-flavored Chocolat des Mandarins. In 1976, the company was sold to Kitti Cha Sangmanee, who opened the first retail tea house in 1983 on Rue du Bourg-Tibourg, Paris. Today, Mariage Frères operates ten tearooms in Paris and additional locations in the UK, Germany, and Japan. They offer over 650 blends of tea, some exclusive to their Parisian stores, and their original tea house includes a museum dedicated to the history of tea. And luckily for us, Melissa is also incredibly eloquent and passionate about beauty, fragrance and wellbeing. Our conversation is one of my favourite types in that we cover so much ground and it is all so interesting and enlightening. From the surprising turn of events in Melissa's career journey to how she handles depression and anxiety to the important lesson she learnt about exercise recently and how she takes herseld out of her comfort zone, there is so much to learn from Melissa. We of course chat about our mutual love for beauty and Melissa talks about her focus on glowing, healthy skin, her favourite style of makeup and what beauty means to her now she is in her 40's.You'll love getting to know Melissa and if you're anything like me, she'll inspire you in a whole host of ways.
As part of #nationalfragranceweek, we could not have been more thrilled to discover that today's guest is an avid listener to our podcast - and that she has time to fit us in. Because, to say the least, Melissa Leong @fooderati is a BUSY woman! Currently hosting Dessert Masters in Australia, former host of MasterChef Australia; in November last year Melissa was asked to moderate an ‘In Conversation With @jamieoliver' evening at a PACKED Sydney Opera House. And when emailing us her notes for this episode, Melissa revealed she was “…still recovering from a week of racing cars (I did a Top Gear hot lap!) and speaking at IWD lunches.”Reading from her talent management bio: “Few in Australia can boast the culinary credentials of Melissa Leong. An accomplished food and travel writer, food media consultant, radio broadcaster, television presenter, MC and cookbook editor, this first-generation Singaporean Australian isn't afraid to eat anything at least once.” We can now add to that by saying she isn't afraid to SMELL anything at least once, either, and we have a mega list of her favourite fragrances to discuss in depth. There were SO many amazing fragrances on Melissa's list, we had to make this a two-part series (Part 2 will be released as a bonus episode on Sunday), but here are the scents discussed in this episode…@isseymiyakeparfums L'Eau D'Issey@calvinklein CK One@clinique Aromatics Elixir / Happy@chloe Chloe@commes.des.garcon 2 / Lucky Scent (discontinued)@tomfordbeauty Black Orchid@officialbyredo Gypsy Water@aesopskincare Marrakech@lelabofragrances Santal 33@rpparfums Oud Delice@carnerbarcelona Black Calamus@trudon Mortel Noir@nassomatto Baraonda/Black Afgano@matierepremiereparfums Encense SuaveDon't miss PART TWO - coming out as a *bonus* episode this Sunday!
