"Blue Mountain State" is a comedy television series that aired on Spike TV from 2010 to 2011. The show follows Alex Moran (Darin Brooks), a laid-back second string quarterback, as he navigates college life alongside his eccentric teammates. Despite its short run, "Blue Mountain State" developed such a loyal fanbase that they even went as far as to crowd fund a movie continuation called "Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland" in 2016. Featuring a live acoustic performance of their unreleased song, Say When, Neon Bloom join Gregg Tilston and Karim Kanji in studio on this latest edition of Welcome To The Music! Toronto-based garage rock/synth-pop quartet Neon Bloom is a unique blending of musical styles, creative influences and wonderfully diverse personalities. Combining the talents of veteran musicians/recording artists Jen Simpson (lead vocals), bassist/guitarist Fred Yurichuk, guitarist/keyboardist Simon Chow and drummer/keyboardist Chris Romano, Neon Bloom has already staked a claim as one of the most innovative and energetic live bands on the Toronto scene, by invoking their collective experience as live performers, and a dedicated sense of professionalism and passion for their craft. Formed three years ago, the story behind their origin may not seem to be out of the ordinary on first examination. But dig a little deeper and you realize that the back story gives great meaning to so many aspects of the band, from their energetic stage shows, to their overall look and creative aesthetic, their dedication to their craft, and especially Simpson's powerful lyrical creations. More importantly, the story behind the story is why each band member is so committed to one another, and to their collective musical enterprise, and why they approach life and music with such joyful abandon. Chris is currently the head strength and conditioning coach and sports scientist at Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia. We begin by discussing how to effectively develop athletes in a sensible manner and focus on how to utilize differing methods to keep athletes healthy. We examine how to effectively progress programming throughout a year for a variety of sports. We discuss many of the common flaws often observed in adolescent populations when examining their cleans. We discuss the use of various complexes to address issues seen in the clean and how they can contribute to more effective movement and keep athletes healthy. We also discuss the varying methods employed with different athletic populations based around the clean. This is an episode full of great knowledge on the clean as well as overall athletic development. Coach Chris has a book out right now available on amazon that addresses many of the things we discuss on the episode titled The book on cleans and their role in sports performance. If you want even more knowledge on how to effectively implement and progress athletic populations through the clean this book is a no brainer.
