Die Planungen laufen auf Hochtouren: King Charles III. von England feiert am 14.November seinen 75. Geburtstag. -- BRITPOD - England at its Best - wird präsentiert von Romance TV. Iona, from a farm in Muirkirk always loved the farm as a kid but as a youngster probably didn't see it in her future! As she left school her intention was to go into physiotherapy but a last minute change of mind realised who she liked about that potential job was the paediatric side and therefore changed her field of study to primary teaching. Iona completed her degree at the Dumfries campus of University of Glasgow and flew off to New Zealand for a short break. On her return she saw a job opening at Dumfries House in Cumnock and now heads up a team as part of the Farming and Rural Skills team there! Iona tells her story which is fuelled by a strong passion for telling the story of farming to the future of the nation. Great chat with food, farming and...swans of all things! You'll have to listen to why! Enjoy
Episode 96 - Jim & Pat's Glasgow West End Chat Pat chats with Jeane Freeman OBE We are thrilled to have Jeane Freeman OBE, former politician and SNP member, as our guest on the Podcast. Jeane is truly one of the good people in this world. You will know her best from the daily Covid briefings - at the height of the pandemic - as she put her heart and soul into trying to keep us all safe. Jeane's political journey began in 2016 when she secured the constituency seat of Carrick, Cumnock, and Doon Valley, becoming an MSP. By 2018, she had earned her place in the Scottish Cabinet. Hailing from South Ayrshire, Jeane was raised in a working-class family that supported trade unions and the Labour party. Her passion for helping others was evident early on when, in 1979, she became the first woman to chair the National Union of Students in Scotland. Even before her role as an MSP, Jeane had already accumulated a wealth of experience as a dedicated political activist. I hope you enjoy Pat's chat with Jeane Freeman. Special guest Jeane Freeman joins this episode. Jeane served as Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport from 2018 to 2021. She was SNP MSP for the Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley constituency from 2016 to 2021. Calum, Geoff and Andy question her on the relationship between the Greens and the SNP and whether The Bute House agreement is clear enough. Jeane also reflects on her days as Health Secretary during the Covid pandemic. She tells us about her biggest regret as Health Secretary as well as how she reflects on the pandemic and, crucially, what she believes does - and does not - need to be done to reform the NHS in Scotland. She also considers the tone of the political debate in Scotland, both in the SNP leadership contest and in wider politics, too. She wants the SNP to act like "grown-ups" and that it is no bad thing that there is disagreement within the party. She says it is "healthy and potentially constructive." In this episode, Katie Derham finds out how being involved in making music can give people the confidence they need to have a better and brighter future. We've heard from players in The People's Orchestra and from choir members in one of their many show choirs in previous episodes, but the team behind the inspirational community orchestra in the West Midlands don't only create opportunities for people who want to play an instrument or sing. They create employment opportunities for non-musicians too. Katie speaks to behind-the-scenes staff and people they've helped back into work.Streetwise Opera is all about giving people recovering from homelessness the chance to get their lives back on track through the power of opera. TONY McINALLY was the manager in waiting as a player who's won most things he can in the dugout. Now he's trying to take Cumnock back to where they belong. A win at Darvel last weekend showed just what he's building at Townhead Park. Tony joins us on the show this week and in the first of two parts we look back at his stellar career as a gaffer. He tells us why he was once accused of being a coal thief – and we look back at his successful spell at Shotts Bon Accord which ended with a year-long ban for a first offence. He explains why he thinks the league setup is better now than it was back then despite his dislike for this season's relegation scenario. There's also his near five-year reign at Pollok, the benefits of cutting his teeth in management away from the spotlight and his little book of players to keep an eye on. There's Tayport head of communications Pete McEleny's roundup of the scores from across the country. Plus there's yet another new feature as former Vale of Clyde manager Mark MacKay gives us his standout performance in The Best of the West. It's all here as we go Down The Divisions. Acclaimed as one of the world's great living composers, Sir James MacMillan last appeared on All Things Considered when he was in Cardiff rehearsing for the premiere of a work he'd written for Welsh National Opera. Fourteen years later, his reputation has not diminished. His new work, 'When Soft Voices Die' was premiered in the opening night of the Proms last month. His percussion concerto 'Veni, Veni Emmanuel' has now had more than 500 performances around the world, and his 'Stabat Mater' was streamed from the Sistine Chapel in Rome. And there's a steady stream of work for orchestras, choirs and soloists heard extensively at international music festivals, including an annual event he launched in the former coalmining community of Cumnock in Ayrshire, where he was brought up. It was also there that his deep commitment to the Roman Catholic faith was nurtured. Roy Jenkins interviews Sir James about his life, work and deep Catholic faith.

In Episode 37 of the Business Leaders Breakfast Sam is joined by Hamish Munro, Founder and Director of Pairtree. Hamish is a fifth generation farmer from Cumnock and has always been interested in technology and innovation. In 1999, he positioned the cattle enterprise to supply beef to the European chilled beef market. This included the installation of a laptop and RFID scanner within the Cattle yards and incorporating (the now National Livestock Id Scheme) RFID Life Time tracking tags. In 2018, Hamish was asked by NSW DPI to assist in finalising the Farm Decision Technology project run between two research sites in Orange and Molong. Hamish than initiated a new business called Pairtree Intelligence and applied for the NSWDPI GATE program to refine the offering of what Pairtree really was and how to take it to market. In 2019, Pairtree was successful in applying to the largest and longest running Agtech accelerator in Melbourne, SproutX, which also provided some pre-seed capital to the business. Pairtree now has over 80 national integration partners that can supply data to the Pairtree platform and start to make the daily operations for farmers more streamlined and more productive. WE'VE had matchday two of the West of Scotland League – and it's Darvel and Clydebank flying high at the top of the Premier Division with maximum points. In another season Shots Bon Accord might have been battling it out with them in the top flight too. But instead they're one of 15 clubs now looking on from the outside after choosing to sit out a season without fans. The Bonny had hopes of winning promotion from the West Juniors Championship last season. But the early finish to the campaign because of the pandemic saw them narrowly miss out. Their boss John McKeown joins us on the show this week. We'll get his views on the situation they've found themselves in – and look at how he'll handle things at Hannah Park between now and next season. Plus we'll look back at a lower league playing and managerial career which started out at Ipswich as a kid. We'll hear how hard it was when a hip injury ended his playing days at the age of just 27 and the transition into the dugout at Wishaw. There's his first training session as Cumnock boss, when just seven players turned up, and why he feared the sack after losing 6-0 to Auchinleck just a few days later. Plus John reveals one of the few times he cried as a boss. We'll also discuss the impact of former Lanark chairman and Juniors chief Tam Anderson, who sadly passed away on Saturday. It's all here as we go Down The Divisions. Apologies for the poorer sound quality this week. If you have any comments we'd love to hear from you. As is standard when we have a guest on we get him to pick a best eleven of players he played with. There are also funny stories in terms of away trips and pranks in the dressing room. The podcast concludes with a review of some of the weekend action and some slowfire questions for Robert. Tweet us @sffpodcast Facebook - Scottish Football Forums Instagram - sffpodcast

It's a red and white podcast this week as Krys misses out. The two John's are in fine and dandy mood as December is going so well for Aberdeen. The December fixture list has seen plenty of football played in the Premiership. At the top, there are four points separating the top four. Dundee are the Christmas turkey's as they are at the bottom. We apologise for going on about Aberdeen a bit too much but they are the form team this month. Celtic are at the top and looking like the title favourites they are. Rangers are up in second thanks to the goals of Morelos. The lower leagues remained much the same at the top with the exception of the lead changing hands in the Championship. Arbroath finally lost their unbeaten start to the season in the top of the table clash in League One. The guys cover the Highland and Lowland leagues as 2018 comes to a close. John B lets us know the Scottish Christmas eleven which has a couple of entries from director of podcasting Craig. The Auchinleck Talbot and Cumnock game is discussed as the home team won a seven goal thriller. To all our listeners, have a great Christmas and we'll hopefully have one more podcast before 2019. Sir James MacMillan is a Scottish composer and conductor. He's one of Britain's most successful living classical composers, with his percussion concerto, Veni Veni Emmanuel, receiving more than 600 performances since its premiere in 1992. He draws inspiration from both the spiritual and the secular: many of his works draw on his Roman Catholic faith, while his passion for Celtic football club provided the initial spark for a piano concerto. James MacMillan grew up in Cumnock, East Ayrshire, traditionally a mining centre. His father was a carpenter, and his grandfather a coal miner. He learned the trumpet and played in brass bands, whilst realising at a very young age that he wanted to make music his life. When he first picked up a recorder at school, and realised that he could change the pitch by putting different fingers over the holes, he says a light went on and he knew that he wanted to write music as well as play it.Presenter: Kirsty Young Producer: Sarah Taylor.
