This was the perfect conversation to have just days before Christmas. We spoke with Beth and Dan Duffy, whose love story began on campus in 1978. Dan, a member of the Cornell hockey team, and Beth, known for her warmth and wide circle of friends, created lifelong connections during their time on campus. Their love story started as freshmen, took a pause, and then started again 20 years later when they got married.Together, they've created the "Christmas Tree of Kindness," a project that encourages people to add ornaments to a paper tree for every kind deed they do, spreading positivity and connection during the holiday season. It started as a family tradition and was then embraced by their church and their town, and now people all over the world. They've written the inspiring book The Christmas Tree That Changed the World (by Cookie Claus, we will tell you why), and developed an app to make kindness the great global connector and soon a year-round habit. You will love their story of building a movement that's transforming families, schools, and communities. If you have not seen Art of Words, we live in Philadelphia and Dan is in our area and his artwork is one of those pieces where all those creations everybody has seen. It's almost always viral about 3 to 4 times a year, he's always putting out really great work. What's so amazing about Art of Words is that nobody can look at it and come away unchanged. And here is why: because his artwork is designed with some of the most historic, whether it's scenes from history, whether its sports specifically baseball, legends stadiums, skylines, you name it. As you look at the artwork, and as you look literally as close as you can look, every part of it the design is made of words, hands - Art of Words. And so what we're gonna do throughout this podcast is we're gonna try to create a very visual experience where I can get some of those artworks and as we're talking, I'm gonna try do some overlays and have some things move over top. I was so so excited to bring this to you.
This week, what we're throwing down on the Table is fun discussion with Dan Duffy who is known throughout the Philly sports community for his “word art.” Dan joined us to discuss his business, Art of Words (artofwords.com), and the impacts he's had on the Philly sports community and beyond. It was a great discussion! But first, we reflected on the recent NHL All-Star Game as it may have been Claude Giroux's last representing the Flyers. (approx. 8:20)Then we dove into some Senior Bowl talk. There was a lot of talent on display and prospects that can certainly help bolster this Eagles team in the future. (approx. 14:05)From there, we had a discussion about how well the Sixers, in general, have been playing given how they're lacking in certain areas on the court. They're certainly fighting every step of the way this season overall. (approx. 22:45)We also discussed what are we going to do with our summers when Major League Baseball flushes this 2022 season down the toilet. (approx. 31:40)What we threw down on the Table was a great discussion with Dan Duffy from Art of Words as he continues to generate amazing pieces of word art for Philly sports fans and sports fans from other cities as well. Those of us in real estate must use adapt and evolve in our use of technology in order to remain relevant and serve our clients. How can we best cater to the needs of high-profile clients? In what ways can we leverage technology to help us? How can we innovate our practices to meet the needs of our business? In this episode, CEO of United Real Estate Holdings LLC, Dan Duffy, shares how he uses a combination of technology and internal evaluation to lead a successful real estate corporation. The winning solution is when you innovate from the inside as opposed to coming from the outside. –Dan Duffy Takeaways + Tactics We need to determine who our buyer is and create our sale around that persona. It is impossible to market a property that ticks the boxes for everyone, cater to those who would be most likely to be attracted to it. We must make clients aware of all their options from the get-go. This can help build trust and show that we’re working with their best interest in mind. Auctioning services can be valuable to both clients and agents. Clients can bring their asset to the market at a certain time, clear it, and convert it into cash. Also, agents can significantly impact their transaction value. On this episode, we discuss some of the businesses that operate under the United Real Estate Group. Dan Duffy explains how and why these sections of the company came to be, and how they have positively impacted the success of the business. We also shared insights on: The shift from a seller’s market to a buyer’s market How strategy is moving towards technology in real estate How to manage high profile clients Our role in real estate is to understand and cater to the needs of our clients. This can be achieved in numerous ways, most importantly by being transparent about options with clients, utilizing tools like technology to our advantage, and being aware of our buyer’s persona so that we can effectively make targeted sales. When we develop from the inside while considering the current market and climate, we become geared for success in our industry. Guest bio Dan Duffy is the CEO of United Real Estate Holdings LLC (Group), a real estate services and franchise holding company operating multiple businesses under its "United" trade name. Dan spent nearly 20 years focused on serving clients in a number of senior executive positions. Most recently he served as the President and CEO of a two-time Microsoft Global Partner of the Year and Largest Global Microsoft Business Solutions Partner, with over 25 offices on three continents serving 12,000 clients in 48 countries.
