Well, it's been a minute, but our podcast is back! Welcome to episode 51 of our Plenty for Everyone podcast. In this episode, try to catch you up on our everything that's happened since episode 50 this past fall. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating our 10th anniversary – to say that our time since then has been full is a huge understatement. One of our most important personal and professional accomplishments has been publishing our new book, Leading with Light: Choosing Conscious Leadership When You're Ready For More, in March 2024. What a whirlwind journey! It's been both gratifying and surreal to hear from so many readers about the book and see its message spread. As of this posting, we've sold copies of the book in nine different countries, a reach we never dared dream about. We've been blown away by the texts, posts, and messages from people sharing photos of themselves reading the book. So cool! With the book launch came the chance to be on a number of other podcasts, so while we haven't released a new episode of Plenty for Everyone in a while, we've been on a dozen other podcasts. We spend a bit of time detailing the interviews we've done and what it has been like to be on a podcast book tour. And finally, a few weeks ago, we held a book launch event in Marshall, Michigan, organized by our friend and client, Derek Allen of Starr Commonwealth. Thanks to Derek's wonderful efforts, the event brought together a passionate community of nearly fifty conscious leaders eager to engage with the book's message and one another. We were touched by this wonderful community and the chance to watch peer-to-peer learning and connection in person. There's a whole lot more in the episode, too, as we preview what's next for us in 2025, including the debut of Lighthouse, our new virtual group coaching program. We hope you still have Plenty for Everyone in your podcast feed, and we're glad to be back!
We are proud to name as this week's Rick and Cutter Show Weenie of the week...
In a world full of fear and trauma, there are people like Derek Allen and organizations like Starr Commonwealth who are actively trying to make the world a better place by supporting, educating and building resilience in children, families and communities. They are leading with courage to create positive experiences for them to flourish. In this episode, you'll hear about the beautiful work and programs of Starr Commonwealth under the leadership of Derek (Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Starr)… and the impact that they are making. This conversation left me with hope for the future of this world, despite the fear and hate that so greatly currently exists. My hope is that it leaves you with the same. Today I am joined by Derek Allen, the singer and guitarist of Lower Automation, a high energy math core band from Chicago. Lower Automation are about to release their self titled debut full length on Zegema Beach on July 12th. Recorded in a five day stretch during the summer of 2020, the album is a blistering and nerve-racking listen. Allen and I have crossed paths a few times in both the Chicago and while Lower Automation were on tour a few years back, so I was delighted to finally have him on the podcast to talk about his early interest in industrial music, why he's attracted to rhythmic complexity, his unique approach to vocals and much more. https://lowerautomation.bandcamp.com/ https://lamniformes.bandcamp.com/
Listen in as Bob Barker interviews Derek Allen, AGC of Wisconsin General Counsel, to discuss project bidding, jobsite picketing and other legal issues facing contactors.
What is purpose, really? And, how do we find it? In this episode, we talk with two of our treasured clients, Elizabeth Carey and Derek Allen of Starr Commonwealth, about finding purpose – and using that purpose as an anchor for your organization in turbulent times. It's a wonderful conversation for anyone working in a purpose-driven business – or working to create one.

A very colorful and melodic Thursday crossword, with rebuses containing Green, Yellow, Black, and White, all parts of song titles. There were oldies -- like 32A. 1966 hit by the Rolling Stones, PAINTITBLACK, 61A, 1966 hit by the Beatles, YELLOWSUBMARINE, and much more modern fare, like 38D, 2017 hit by Cardi B, BODAKYELLOW. Jean worked expeditiously through the puzzle, while Mike, despite momentarily confusing JOHNDEERE with JOHNDENVER, and KODAK with BODAK, managed to turn in a very snappy 24m25s time. A nice puzzle by Derek Allen, we give it a 5 squares on the JAMCR scale.
Episode 68: Derek Allen -A "Must Listen" Episode- Hailing from Alabama, hence the nickname "Bama", Derek Allen embodies the true essence of a Chukar Hunter- being an Adventure-Seeker. As I have said before, "The more time you spend in Chukar Country, the higher likelihood something will happen". That being said, I wrote a story called "6 Ways to Die in Chukar Country", never expecting anyone to completely connect with all the topics discussed. Well, the most astonishing of all: The Mountain Lion encounter. Follow along as Derek shares the story of his close encounter with a couple Mountain Lions and his paralyzing fear of snakes. Also, and the most interesting, is his fly-in Chukar Hunt into Idaho's Frank Church Wilderness. While covering all these great stories, we also discuss gear, dogs and lots of other great "nuggets of knowledge" The Upchukar Podcast Proudly Partners with: Project Upland, Chukar Chasers, Lathrop and Sons boots, Mtn Ops and First Lite
