The eight-month initiative will equip these second-stage, women-owned businesses with resources to overcome diverse challenges and scale their operations. Women-owned businesses are a vital part of Michigan's economy, representing 43.2% of the state's 902,131 small businesses—higher than the national average. Detroit, in particular, was ranked as the top U.S. metropolitan area for growth in women-owned businesses. “The launch of the Women's Entrepreneurial Fellowship is an exciting step toward ensuring that second-stage, women-owned businesses receive the targeted support they need to thrive, said Brian Calley, SBAM President & CEO. “This program will provide invaluable resources, from mentorship and business certifications to networking opportunities and access to capital, helping these entrepreneurs overcome the unique challenges they face.” Qualifying businesses have more than one employee in addition to the owner, have been in operation for at least two years, and generate a minimum of $500,000 in annual revenue. Here are the businesses that were selected for the inaugural cohort: ● Eagle Specialties, LLC ● Elderly Instruments ● Fido & Stitch ● Groovy Donuts ● Jungle Jane Promotions ● Marshall Holding ● Neuco Furniture & Upholstery ● Pioneer Machine and Technology, Inc ● The Betty Brigade ● Winsome Travel Design ● Wolverine Pickleball Recent data underscores the need for the support provided by this new program. Only 10% of women business owners report securing a small business loan, and women-owned businesses receive just 2.2% of all venture capital funding in the U.S. Operationally, 59% struggle with hiring and retaining qualified staff, while 80% face difficulties dealing with increased costs. "Women-owned businesses in Michigan confront a multitude of challenges that hinder their growth potential," said Kim Bode, Program Director. "From financial constraints to operational difficulties, our fellowship is designed to address these issues comprehensively." Cara had a pregnancy where she experienced constant nausea and wanting to vomit. As a result, she didn't have much confidence in herself to birth her baby and was considering an elective caesarean. After completing the ‘Transform Your Birth,' course, she had a complete shift in her thinking, and started to entertain the idea that she could give birth to her baby. Liam also started to realise the important role he could play and they both did the practices together. Her labour started with waters breaking, and ended in a very efficient and quick labour. On this episode of #LatinosOutLoud, Rachel chats virtually with Playwright Kristoffer Diaz, who is the noble pen behind the Grammy and Tony award-winning Broadway show, Hell's Kitchen. Diaz is the book writer for the Broadway hit which tells a story loosely based on Alicia Keys' life and incorporates some of her biggest hits. Rachel got the chance to see the show, and the two speak about key moments in the musical, the unity felt among the theatre audience and how both feel the same sense of fulfillment as college Professors, as Kristoffer teaches play writing at NYU and Rachel teaches podcasting at CUNY Brooklyn College. The playwright, screenwriter, and educator gained national acclaim in 2010, when his play The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity was produced in Chicago and New York and then named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama. His work has been developed and performed at the Goodman Theatre, Dallas Theater Center, Geffen Playhouse, Second Stage, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and New York Shakespeare Festival's Delacorte Theater. He adapted Rent for television and wrote for the Netflix series GLOW. His newest play, Reggie Hoops, is about a female executive in the NBA. Greg Germann is an actor known for his work in film, television and on Broadway where he starred with Mark Rylance in BOEING BOEING. He was a member of Circle Repertory Company and Ensemble Studio Theatre and has performed at Playwrights Horizons, The Public Theatre, La Mama, Second Stage among others. Created roles in Stephen Sondheim's Assassins, Steve Martin's Meteor Shower, Only You, Found A Peanut and many more. He has also appeared in numerous films including TALEDEGA NIGHTS, FRIENDS WITH MONEY, CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, SWEET NOVEMBER, QUARANTINED, ONCE AROUND, among others. Greg is best known for the many characters he has created on the small screen, including Tom Koracick on GREY'S ANATOMY and Richard Fish on ALLY McBEAL, as well as House of Lies, Once Upon a Time and many more.  During the war in Afghanistan Greg traveled there twice as a goodwill ambassador, visiting thousands of troops from Kandahar to Kabul along with dozens of Forward Operating Bases (F.O.B's) across the country. Over the weekend, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel was entering the “second stage” of the war with Hamas. Since then, the Israeli Defense Forces knocked out communication for people living in Gaza for two days, intensified their airstrikes, and started a sustained ground incursion by sending tanks and infantry into northern Gaza.The escalation has intensified international calls for a ceasefire. Meanwhile, In Israel, families of those taken hostage by Hamas are calling on the Israeli government to bring back their loved ones.In today's episode, we bring you voices of those surviving inside the Israel-Hamas war and how things have changed in this new phase of the conflict. However, there has been persistent controversy about what defines a prolonged 2nd stage of labor.
