In this episode, I talked about the Fall Fest our school just held last Friday. It's an annual event that strengthens the connection between the school and the community, featuring entertainment, food trucks, and performances. Our school's Fall Fest was led by the upper school student government, with all high school students participating. The funds raised will support various high school activities, including prom. This year's Fall Fest was especially lively, with the campus filled with joy. I volunteered at the "Enchanted Courtyard" and went to the gym afterward, making for a very fulfilling day. The event not only helped students develop organizational skills but also fostered responsibility and problem-solving abilities. Thank you for listening!发短信给我! On episode 257 of The AwardsWatch Podcast, Editor-In-Chief Erik Anderson, Executive Editor Ryan McQuade and Associate Editor Sophia Ciminello talk about some of our favorite (and not so favorite) films we saw at 62nd New York Film Festival and then look at them through the lens of the pending Oscar race. Kicking things off we start with The Brutalist, Brady Corbet's sprawling epic about a Hungarian architect, played by Adrien Brody, who emigrates to the United States post-World War II. Corbet won the Best Director award at the Venice Film Festival. You can read Sophia's review of that film here. Next we go into the Venice Golden Lion winner for Best Film, Pedro Almodóvar's The Room Next Door, starring Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore, the director's first major festival top film win. Ryan's review of the maestro's festival favorite can be found here. The conversation here, about older directors creating films now that stand up against their best early work, moves to what we felt as a far less successful version of that, Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis (read Ryan's review here) but then we're back to the festival high of Luca Guadagnino's Queer, his adaptation of the 1985 William S. Burroughs short novel starring Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, a drug-induced story of gay love and longing set among the lives of American expats in Mexico City in the late 1940s. You can read my review of Queer here. We also venture into some quick talk of other films we saw and loved at the festival, including Mike Leigh's Hard Truths and David Siegel and Scott McGehee's The Friend, starring the biggest attention getter of the fest, Bing the great Dane. From there we look at how looks at these films have shaped or changed our earlier Oscar predictions, what's out in front, what is falling off and the complete unknown entities coming up that could change race completely. You can listen to The AwardsWatch Podcast wherever you stream podcasts, from iTunes, iHeartRadio, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music and more. This podcast runs 1h16m. We will be back in two weeks to discuss AFI FEST and update our Oscar predictions. Till then, let's get into it. Welcome back to AstroPod_Cast's weekly astrology report! We are a week into Libra Season as the Autumn Equinox occurred on September 22nd when the Virgo Sun ushered in cooler days, whereby opening the oceans to Hurricane season until the end of November. Hurricane Helene rode in on the 29th degree of the Cancer Moon as it opposed Pluto in Capricorn. This powerful cosmic message of release brought about massive destruction to the landscape as we know it. As the Leo Moon prepares to leave on Sunday, it will also bring dire flooding as it leaves to enter Virgo where clean up and assisting in healing/rebuilding will begin. By October 2nd, the New Super Libra Moon partial Eclipse will occur as a Ring of Fire lighting up our inner selves to deep dive into the fire to release the old that is dragging you down in dust! The water trine of Venus in Scorpio, Mars in Cancer, and Saturn in Pisces gather to support our inner growth with compassion and empathy for the self. Actions begin to align with the mind in order to heal the soul. By March of 2025, the cosmic shifts will bring opportunities to help with intuitive communication helping to align our lives with purpose. The summer has been a slow time for meditation and family values in preparation for the outer world 's chaotic negative violent tendencies. The South/North Nodes will leave Libra/Aries axis beginning next year and head into Virgo/Pisces axis for two years. This new moon is the last in Libra for 9/10 years making it extra important to get the messaging correct as this is a Cardinal Air sign of peace. Prepare for the new moon this Wednesday through planting intentions that will bear fruit at the Libra Full Moon in six months. Every month theres a new and full moon, but the Super Eclipses occurring now are more powerful than the average full moon due to its proximity to the Earth! The oceans can feel the pull of the Super Moon as it pulls on the tides and our emotions. Collectively we are all up leveling our minds and bodies. However, we must release the old ways of interacting with each other in order to progress the human race into the future. As long as the goal is war and murder, we will not evolve into a more rational species. Thank you for your continued support to my loyal supporters. Consultations will open in January for astrology and gardening consultations!! I will have more infomation as the time approaches with payment information. Stay tuned! See you all next week as the end of the year will be an F1 series of races at top speed where you only have yourself to depend on steering this work of the Industrial Revolution into a new reality of clean energy!!!!

Imagery plays a crucial role in filmmaking, shaping how a story visually unfolds. This element must be integrated into the scriptwriting process, rather than being left for production. With fall film festivals in full swing, indie filmmakers are not only focused on storytelling but also on the challenges of navigating the competitive market and selling their films. A strong visual narrative can make all the difference when it comes to standing out and securing distribution deals. Director Niclas Larsson's feature film Mother, Couch! brings an intriguing mix of surrealism and family drama to the screen. Premiering at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, this film stars Ewan McGregor and explores the strange dynamic of a mother refusing to leave a couch in a furniture store. Its unique visual storytelling and offbeat premise are sure to leave an impression.   In today's episode, No Film School's GG Hawkins speaks with Jason Hellerman and Niclas Larsson to discuss: Why memorable imagery in scripts is key to creating impactful films The challenges of today's film festival market and indie acquisitions Niclas Larsson's unique creative process and his “Storm Book” How the physical layout of Mother, Couch! plays a critical role in the story's themes Why sticking to your gut and vision is essential in the post-production process   Memorable Quotes: "Imagery is something that should go hand in hand with filmmaking." [1:55]  "We're missing images right from the core. We're relying too much on cinematographers or directors to find them later." [5:08] "If you can master the short form, if you can really pay attention to every single second of what you're doing and the importance of every second." [24:23] "Everything we do in scene one to nine needs to be confused, it needs to resemble or picture, convey confusion and displacement." [30:12] "You make movies for other people—the real people. A singular vision is supposed to be criticized." [01:04:37] "The level of filmmaking has declined and is declining rapidly. And we need to stay strong, giving an adult audience bang for their buck, because that's our job." It's the Friday news roundup! Lawmakers in Washington have been up in arms — about the possibility of a shutdown, yes — but also the state of John Fetterman's shorts; Pennsylvania's favorite amphibian, the snot otter, is getting some official state love on local cars; and if you've ever wanted to buy 100 single air pods, the county airport auction is just for you.  We're lucky to have socially conscious journalist and media consultant Natalie Bencivenga on mic today. She's also the newest City Cast contributor! Welcome, Natalie! You can hear her very own show every Saturday at 2 p.m. on KDKA-AM. We love to cite our sources! Lawmakers voted to create an official dress code last week, aimed primarily at Pennsylvania Democrat John Fetterman, who regularly wears hoodies and gym shorts to the U.S. Senate floor.  Forty-six Republican senators (all but three) sent a letter to Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer demanding he reverse the change. Politico reported the code was dubbed the SHORTS Act, or “Show Our Respect To the Senate.” During shutdowns, federal employees can't get paid. The Trib's Ryan Deto reported there are about 19,000 federal employees in the Pgh region, and WHYY found 1.9 million Pennsylvanians would lose access to SNAP benefits. Fetterman's online store is now doing pre-orders for “I vote in this hoodie” apparel, printed by Commonwealth Press. Note: Proceeds go to his campaign, so only buy it if you want to support his cause. The state just released its new specialty license plate options, and the newest includes the eastern hellbender, Pennsylvania's official state amphibian. If you want to know more about how vanity and other special license plates work in Pennsylvania, we did a crossover podcast with City Cast Philly about them awhile back. It's so fun — it takes $85 to apply for one, and there are a LOT of ways and reasons the state can deny you. Highly recommend! This is the weekend for the county's annual airport auction. The full list of sale items includes a ton of cars, electronics, and even designer items like bags and coats. Pittsburgh Magazine shared some additional history on finds of previous years. If you're heading to Fall Fest on Bigham Street, check out other Mount Washington recommendations in newsletter editor Francesca Dabecco's neighborhood guide.
