Today I'm excited to have the opportunity to have Maru on again as we dived into her time going to both Fanime and Anime Expo which took place in May and July respectively. Throughout our chat, we dive more into Maru's gaming obsessions which extend through her outfits she wore such as the Dancer class from FF14, Jessie in booty shorts from FF7 Remake, Mature Tifa and so many others. From practically selling me on trying Elden Ring at some point to even having heartfelt chats about being a full time content creator. I mull over my thoughts about changing my own stream schedule again and seeing if I really enjoy it enough to pursue it harder as well. We even go into what makes Maru decide on future projects at this point and how she wants to challenge herself with each new build

Welcome to Pub Chat! These episodes are for us to have a more free-form way to discuss listener questions, shorter subjects, as well as magical happenings, musings, and other sundry. Our question of the week is about being cursed or hexed. A common question online in the pagan community is about people who think they've been cursed, or aren't sure if they have been. We discuss some simple ways to tell if you have cursed or hexed. In Story Time, we talk about the origin of the popular phrase “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.” It's an interesting story, and the phrase has inspired many practitioners since it was written a little over 100 years ago. We've been quite busy lately, with lots of changes in our personal lives and big projects coming up. We discuss briefly what's going on with us, and share some exciting news about hosting a panel at a convention!
Welcome back to Lady Blerds Sings the Blues with ya girls Sometimes V and Kylie Toosmart! We are two fabulous fat femme queer Queens giving our fresh takes on the world around us. This week's episode we break away from our traditional layout and just have a good ole gab fest! Fanime 2021 was lit! Lady Blerds had a virtual panel called "Representation Matters" where we discussed what it's like being a blerd or poc watching Anime and not seeing ourselves in a positive light, but also about the improvements that have happened over time and how we can maintain this positive trajectory. Whew, what a sentence! Tune in to hear all about how we cope with the struggles of adulthood in a capitalist heteronormative society whilst being Black and a woman. Of course we couldn't get away with not having some sort of Blerd update so if you want to hear us laugh and cry about some weeb ish we got you covered. Last but never least we discuss some of the topics that literally have us singing the blues, among those being the case of Ryan Le-Nguyen, an Asian man in Michigan whose bail was set at a lowly $10,000 after he shot 6 year old Coby Daniel for retrieving his bike from his yard after Ryan chased him with a sledgehammer for playing in the area. The community rallied and his bail was adjusted to 100k. We discuss some tragedies that hit closer to home, SJPD's muder of Demetrius Stanley, and what we can do to help. Thank you for listening to Lady Blerds Sing the Blues, we appreciate each and ever one of you! You can find us on Spotify, Apple pods, & our original home Soundcloud. Well you are about to find out in this weeks Black History Segment! Sometimes V spills the tea about Cynthia Kao's short "Groundhog Day For A Black Man" and the subsequent award winning Netflix film that failed to recognize her work as source material. Evan’s not flying back to New Jersey for AnimeNEXT, but he did attend FanimeCon 2014 in San Jose, CA. In this podcast, recorded on the fourth and final day of Fanime, Evan sits down with his Crunchyroll coworkers and arch-frenemies, Victoria Holden (a.k.a. SailorBee) and Danika Harrod (a.k.a. DarlingDaniChan) and cosplay photographer Ben Lam to talk about the con. Topics include Kill la Kill cosplay, Anime Hell, anime triathlons, and the “flipping off Evan” meme. This podcast was recorded in a hotel lobby, so the audio has a lot of background noise. Sorry! Show notes, links, and comments after the break. DIRECT DOWNLOAD – RSS Feed – iTunes – Send us Feedback! – More episodes (Runtime: 1 hour, 13 minutes) Opening/Ending Song: “Kill Me” by Lame Drivers Our guests: Danika Harrod, Victoria Holden, and Ben Lam Everyone but Ben works at Crunchyroll, the anime and Asian drama streaming website. The “Flipping off Evan” meme is a thing that Danika started on Twitter for no good reason. Former Ani-Gamers blogger Elliot Page started a Tumblr compiling the best shots. Evan ran/participated in four panels: Introducing Studio Trigger (slightly updated version of the “‘Trigger’ Warning” Genericon panel), The Beautiful Backgrounds of Anime, The Changing Faces of Anime, and the Crunchyroll Industry Panel. Victoria/Danika’s cosplays: Elf/Sorceress (Dragon’s Crown), Utena/Maou (Revolutionary Girl Utena/Maoyu), Griffith/Guts (Berserk) Panels Evan went to: Takami Akai (Gainax char. designer) Q&A, Noir (Gainax marketing) Q&A, Anime & Manga for Parents (run by Gilles Poitras), Anime Hell (this one is from Ryan Gavigan), Most Hilarious Bootlegs (run by Heidi Kemps), and History of Sports Anime/Manga (run by Tom Langston) Kill la Kill was the most popular show for cosplay at Fanime. Watch it right now on Crunchyroll, Netflix, or Daisuki. We don’t have photos from the con up yet, but we’ll link them here once they’re online.
