"Ya so, it's a security guard job at an abandoned arcade where the ghosts of dead children possess animatronics and murder said security guards. When can you start?" A community... paralyzed by... what, we're not sure. Why haven't they condemned this place? That one patrol cop sure seems to know a lot about the missing children case and about the murdered security guards. Funny how they never investigate the place where they were murdered. Oh well. It's that time of year again — Matthew Lillard's birthday!!! We knew we had to celebrate our spooky king in style, and we had just the movie to help us do it. A long-awaited adaptation of a much-beloved video game franchise, Five Nights at Freddy's (2023) made quite the stir when it hit theaters last fall. We don't know about you, but our social media feeds were flooded with fan cams of Matty Lilly, Josh Hutcherson, and the whole Freddy Fazbear crew. It felt like we were singing fan songs and ~whistling~ along for weeks after we first saw it, but there's more to discuss than just the fandom response. ~Join us for a bite~ as we throw our favorite guy a birthday party at the coolest abandoned spot in town. Five Nights at Freddy's movie review and franchise history! This week on the Soul Forge we talk about everything to do with Five Nights at Freddy's (FNaF). We just saw the movie on opening night. Our initial thoughts and reactions, fresh from the theatre are here for you to enjoy. Also on this episode, we have a brief recap of the last week in our lives. Shawn and Leah have been cooking. When they went to Disney World, they tried the cheeseburger spring rolls. They were delicious but expensive. After finding the recipe, they made their own version. This version was exquisite, and may be better than the official product. Additionally, they have been watching more Keeping Up Appearances and Blake's 7. You can hear their thoughts on this episode. And finally, Shawn continues his quest to modify and repaint Hot Wheels. Five Nights at Freddy's (FNaF) is a video game series and media franchise created by Scott Cawthon. The first video game was released on August 8, 2014, and the resultant series has since gained worldwide popularity. The main series consists of nine video games taking place in locations connected to a fictional family pizza restaurant franchise named "Freddy Fazbear's Pizza", after its mascot, the animatronic bear Freddy Fazbear. In most games, the player assumes the role of a night-time employee, who must utilize tools such as security cameras, lights, doors, and vents to defend themselves against animatronic characters who inhabit the locations and become mobile and hostile at night. The series' lore is gradually revealed through voice recordings, minigames, and Easter eggs featured throughout the games. The FNaF movie is directed by Emma Tammi, who co-wrote the screenplay with Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback, from a story by Cawthon, Chris Lee Hill, and Tyler MacIntyre. The film stars Josh Hutcherson as a troubled security guard who accepts a night-time job at an abandoned restaurant. He discovers its four animatronic mascots are alive and kill anyone that is still there after midnight. Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Mary Stuart Masterson and Matthew Lillard appear in supporting roles. This week's podcast promo: Cigar Nerds

In preparation for a full review of Season 2 of “You” on Netflix, we’re revisiting the first season. The thriller “You” combines excellent writing with a cast of talented actors, and it became popular very quickly because of its unique premise and engaging plot. The entertaining story is told primarily via the perspective of the controlling, manipulative Joe Goldberg, played by Penn Badgley, which gives viewers an ultimately skewed perspective of Guinevere Beck, played by Elizabeth Lail. In this podcast episode, we’re covering our analyses of the first five episodes of the first season. Thank you for everyone who requested we cover this series. Stream Fiends is a podcast dissecting TV shows on streaming sites, such as Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime (or anything else that broke college students can afford). Stream Fiends is an extension of Eastern Illinois University’s The Daily Eastern News Podcasts. In this prequel episode of season 3 of Stream Fiends, Logan Raschke, DEN managing editor/senior journalism major, and Elizabeth Taylor, DEN campus reporter/freshman journalism major, analyze episodes 1 through 5 of “You” from its first season.
Not too long after we shot actress Elizabeth Lail for a fashion story and on location in very very cold new york city, we got cozy at our HQ to record this podcast. Eloquent + fully present...talented, beautiful, and smart Elizabeth embodies all the qualities of a big star. She’s an actors actor, and, well, just a wonderful person. She’s rapidly built a loyal fan base, due to the cult following of Netflix series You and her character on the series, Beck. And so we decided on this podcast to include some truly terrific questions from those very fans. We discuss her reverence for her craft, what to expect from You Season 2, her character, Leah, in beautiful indie film Unintended, and what it’s like to work on the set of a horror film. We talk her commitment to sustainability, her footwear of choice, her favorite books on acting, recommendations for what to catch on broadway, how she preps her skin before shooting, her idea of a perfect date night, and more. Listen in to hear the answers to all of your fan questions!

Melissa Benoist got her break when she was cast as a female lead in the William McKinley High School storyline on Glee when most of the Fox dramedy’s original stars saw their characters either move to New York or leave the show. Based on the characters from DC Comics, the project, from Warner Bros. TV and studio-based Berlanti Prods., centers on Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Written by Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler, the project went through an extensive casting process, with several young actresses testing for the lead. Benoist had been consistently in the mix, first alongside Claire Holt and more recently considered along with Elizabeth Lail. Benoist, repped by UTA, Anonymous Content and Frankfurt, Kurnit, Klein & Setz, has a supporting role in the feature Whiplash, which is nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. She will next be seen in the film The Longest Ride, opposite Britt Robertson and Scott Eastwood.
