Kim tells Ket about Cube (1997) starring Nicole de Boer and David Hewlett. Welp. They've discovered a new space they hate. You guessed it! Cube space… or whatever the eff this is. So go suck on a button, would ya!? This was a real Schrodinger's belly button if you know what I mean. (And how could you?) Most importantly, we'll learn if Ket will live or die in Cube.Dir. Mackenzie (Macky) Donaldson is a Toronto and Los Angeles based director, producer and writer. She recently finished producing her first feature documentary, Citizen Bio (see the trailer), about biohackers aka citizen-driven biomedical research. It premiere's on Showtime October 30th. She is actively involved in The Producer Pledge and Impact. Macky and I talk about the importance of getting more minorities and people of color telling their stories in the film industry, the microchip that's been inserted in her hand, emulating her father and being aware of death in everyday life, her daily routines and work as a producer, what to do when at a crossroads, the importance of saying yes to everything early in your career, how she's now trying to focus in her 30's, the pressure and balance of biological clocks and wanting children, and how to ask for what you want. Find Macky as @mackiegd on Twitter and Instagram. Recently released, Mackenzie just finished producing the first season of Snowpiercer for TNT/HBO Max, also available on Netflix. Named “One to Watch” by Playback’s Top 5 in 2015 and a 2016 TIFF Emerging Canadian Filmmaker, Mackenzie is most well known for her work producing the critically acclaimed; Emmy, Peabody and CSA award-winning; and Golden Globe nominated show Orphan Black. Mackenzie executively produced the award-winning digital series Whatever, Linda, which she is now adapting into an hour long TV drama for Bell Media, through her production company The Donaldson Company. It will be Executively Produced by her producing partner Graeme Manson. She released her first feature film, and directorial debut, The Definites - here's the trailer - in 2017 through Mongrel Media and Turn Key Films. She has directed and produce multiple other short films - too many to put here! Photo cred: Daniel Hewett Interested in more episodes about female filmmakers? In this episode, we present a conversation with RZA, hip-hop producer, director and leader of legendary group, The Wu-Tang Clan.Born Robert Diggs, RZA was inspired by kung fu classics at a young age, and he and his fellow Clan members would later incorporate them into their iconic debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang, and since then RZA has, while remaining loyal to hip-hop, moved into the film world. Reviews: Genius #1, Howtoons (Re)Ignition #1, Usagi Yojimbo Senso #1 Jimmy planned on having the podcast wife Erica on to co-host but due to a work commitment (on his part) he had to go solo. Next week there shall be a co-host! He discusses the demise of The Podcast Arena at New York Comic Con this year and mourns/gives tribute to one of his idols Robin Williams. Jimmy sat in the roundtables for the hit BBC America show Orphan Black and chatted with stars and producers Tatiana Maslany, Jordan Gavaris, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Ari Millen, Dylan Bruce, Kristian Bruun, Graeme Manson, and John Fawcet. The roundtables were brief as they had to rush off to their panel but we got some good questions in. Apologies for the annoying/unprofessional reporter from HGTV whom manipulated the tables with her inane questions and often interrupted talent to chat with them. Besides that, and while brief, we still managed to get some exciting news about the upcoming season! Jimmy also chatted with amazing cartoonist Gene Luen Yang about his new graphic novel The Shadow Hero and some of his awesome past comic work. News includes: a new Batman comic called Gotham by Midnight coming from Ray Fawkes/Ben Templesmith, Disney theme parks will add more Star Wars and Kyle Maclachlan joins Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Leave your iTunes comments! 5 stars and nothing but love! Thanks for listening!
