David Bradley Lim grew up in a comfortable Nor Cal suburb. He excelled at most sports, but he knew that he'd never be able to be competitive beyond high school. So he majored in electrical engineering. But after earning his degree, he dove headfirst into the mortgage lending business. Even though he didn't know an escrow from an equity line, he put in the reps and became a top performer. But one day the savings and loan world collapsed all around him. Still not sure what he wanted to do to earn a living, he explored modeling, ultimately being signed by one of the top agencies. But David realized that, deep inside, he wanted to be an actor. So he threw himself into acting classes, again, putting in the reps and hoping for a lucky break. After being part of Season 2 of Quantico, in 2017 he auditioned to be part of the cast of S.W.A.T., an American police action drama television series, based on the popular 1975 television series and the film adaptation of the same name. He impressed the director and producers so much that they created a recurring member of the team who was Chinese American! The Marketing Corner: Episode 7 with Manny Teran and David Bradley In this episode of The Marketing Corner, host Shawn Campbell dives into a critical topic for every business owner: how staying updated with trends is essential to keeping your business relevant and competitive. Throughout the episode, Manny breaks down why understanding and adapting to current industry trends is no longer optional—it's a necessity. Shawn opens the episode by discussing the fast-paced nature of modern markets and how businesses must evolve to meet changing consumer expectations. He emphasizes that while trends can sometimes seem overwhelming, not paying attention to them can lead to a business falling behind or becoming outdated. From new technologies to shifts in consumer behavior, staying informed about what's happening in your industry helps businesses better serve their customers, remain competitive, and avoid becoming obsolete. One of the key points discussed in the episode is that following trends isn't just about jumping on every new fad but understanding which trends are meaningful for your specific audience. Manny explains that businesses need to be selective, choosing trends that align with their brand's values and goals. He advises business owners to conduct regular market research and customer feedback surveys to get a clear understanding of what their customers want and need. This allows businesses to focus on the trends that matter most to their audience while avoiding the noise. Manny also touches on how new trends can open up growth opportunities. He shares examples of businesses that embraced new technologies, such as automation, artificial intelligence, and digital marketing, and experienced exponential growth. For instance, the rise of social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok has created new marketing channels for businesses to connect with younger audiences, while e-commerce solutions have made it easier than ever for businesses to scale online. The episode transitions into the second major topic: the danger of becoming outdated. We explain that businesses that fail to innovate or adjust to industry changes risk becoming irrelevant. He highlights several cautionary tales of companies that once dominated their industries but eventually collapsed due to their resistance to change. Whether it's technological advancements, consumer preferences, or even competitors adopting more modern strategies, businesses must be proactive in evaluating and updating their operations, products, and services. Manny provides practical tips for how businesses can avoid falling behind. He suggests adopting a forward-thinking mindset and continuously investing in education—whether through workshops, industry conferences, or simply staying informed through podcasts like The Marketing Corner. The Marketing Corner is proudly sponsored by: David Bradley Insurance, Medicare A to Z C Eaton Photography Jamar Jordan, Tax Strategist LaFaye Processing dba MiCamp Last Bridge Media Mark Weiss | Sales Performance Strategies The Link Between a Sports Mindset and Business Success In the world of sports, athletes are conditioned to push past their limits, set ambitious goals, and cultivate a sense of resilience and perseverance. These characteristics are directly transferable to the corporate world. When employees adopt a sports-like mentality, they bring focus, discipline, and a drive to improve every day. In this video, we explore how a sports mindset can transform the workplace and lead to improved performance across all levels of an organization. Think about your favorite athletes. They spend years honing their skills, investing countless hours into practice, facing challenges head-on, and learning from their failures. This constant pursuit of excellence is exactly what successful businesses seek to cultivate in their teams. 1. Setting Goals and Measuring Success In both sports and business, goal-setting is essential. Athletes often set long-term goals, like winning a championship, and break that down into smaller, actionable steps like improving their speed, strength, or technique. Similarly, in business, setting both long-term and short-term goals provides a clear roadmap for success. 2. Building a Team Mentality In sports, teams don't succeed without cooperation, trust, and communication. Even individual sports require strong support systems made up of coaches, trainers, and teammates. This sense of collaboration is critical for businesses that want to foster a positive work culture and keep employees motivated. 3. The Importance of Mental Toughness and Resilience One of the greatest lessons from sports is the importance of mental toughness. Athletes experience setbacks all the time—whether it's losing a game, dealing with injuries, or failing to meet personal expectations. Yet, the best athletes learn how to bounce back quickly, often using failure as fuel for future success. 4. Coaching and Feedback for Continuous Improvement Coaches play a pivotal role in the success of athletes by providing regular feedback, setting expectations, and helping players develop their skills. In the business world, leaders must take on the role of coach, offering consistent feedback and guidance to their employees. 5. Celebrating Wins and Learning from Losses In sports, winning is celebrated, but losing is equally important because it provides an opportunity to learn and improve. A sports mindset encourages individuals to view failure not as a defeat but as a stepping stone toward success. This is a critical lesson for businesses. 6. Developing a Competitive Edge In sports, competition drives athletes to push beyond their limits. Similarly, in business, competition—whether it's with other companies or internal challenges—can be a powerful motivator. When employees adopt a competitive mindset, they strive to outperform, improve their skills, and contribute to the overall success of the business. In our premier episode, we had no other than local Tucson legend, Steve Nunez, along with co-host David Bradley. In this episode, we discuss the importance of video for your social media, personal branding and overcoming adversity as an entrepreneur. The Marketing Corner is proudly sponsored by: David Bradley Insurance, Medicare A to Z C Eaton Photography LaFaye Processing dba MiCamp Last Bridge Media Mark Weiss | Sales Performance Strategies Why Video is a Game-Changer for Social Media In the fast-paced digital landscape, video has emerged as the most engaging and effective form of content on social media. With platforms like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook prioritizing video content, entrepreneurs who harness the power of video are seeing unprecedented growth in their reach and influence. Increased Engagement: Social media algorithms favor video content because it keeps users on the platform longer. Videos are more likely to be shared, commented on, and engaged with, giving your brand more visibility and increasing your chances of going viral. Building a Personal Brand as an Entrepreneur As an entrepreneur, your personal brand is one of your most valuable assets. It's not just about having a logo or a catchy slogan—your personal brand is the reputation you build and the perception others have of you. It's how you differentiate yourself from the competition and establish your unique value proposition. Showcase Your Expertise: Use video to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise in your industry. Create educational content, share insights, and provide value to your audience. This not only positions you as a thought leader but also helps you attract clients, customers, and collaborators who resonate with your brand. Humanize Your Brand: People connect with people, not faceless companies. By putting yourself in front of the camera, you make your brand more relatable and approachable. Share your journey, your challenges, and your successes—let your audience see the person behind the business. Expand Your Reach: Video content can be repurposed across multiple platforms, allowing you to reach different segments of your audience. A single video can be shared on YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook, maximizing your exposure and impact. Overcoming Adversity as an Entrepreneur Every entrepreneur faces challenges on their journey—whether it's financial struggles, market fluctuations, or personal setbacks. However, it's not the adversity itself that defines your success, but how you respond to it. Embrace the Challenges: Understand that adversity is a natural part of the entrepreneurial journey. Instead of fearing it, embrace it as an opportunity for growth and learning. Each challenge you face is a chance to develop new skills, refine your strategies, and become more resilient. Stay Focused on Your Vision: When times get tough, it's easy to lose sight of your goals. However, staying focused on your long-term vision is crucial. Remind yourself why you started your business in the first place and keep that purpose at the forefront of your mind. This will give you the motivation to push through difficult times. Adapt and Pivot: Flexibility is key in overcoming adversity. The ability to adapt your business model, marketing strategies, or even your mindset in response to challenges can make the difference between success and failure. Don't be afraid to pivot when necessary—sometimes, the most successful ventures come from unexpected changes in direction. Use Video to Share Your Journey: Video is not just a tool for marketing—it can also be a powerful way to document and share your entrepreneurial journey. By sharing your struggles and how you've overcome them, you can inspire others and build a deeper connection with your audience. Plus, this transparency can strengthen your personal brand by showing that you are resilient, resourceful, and committed to your vision.

Being a high biller requires a combination of hard work, skills, and strategies. But what does it really take? My special guest, David Bradley, is a 29-year veteran who averaged $750k in annual billings his entire career! In this episode, David shares the strategies and mindset that make him a very effective recruiter! On top of that, David also manages high-volume accounts with a team of 60 headhunters. If you are a recruitment leader like David, you will find insightful takes on how he manages KPIs and how they drive a culture that is geared towards performance. In 2009, David helped start Movement. He is a partner with Movement and has been an instrumental part in helping the firm grow from 3 to 65 plus headhunters over the past 14 years. Movement has 5 brick and mortar offices across the United States. Episode Outline and Highlights [02:29] How David got into the recruiting business. [07:14] Top recruiter secrets & grinding on a 10-5-2 formula. [10:32] Structuring daily activities & time management best practices. [17:52] You need to get three critical pieces of information when speaking with a candidate. [24:26] The foundation of what makes David a successful recruiter. [26:50] Movement's culture and mission. [34:30] Striking the balance when managing your team's KPI. [37:40] Retaining the momentum in 2024 - key to continuous growth and eight-figure billings. [45:20] How Movement's owners play different roles? [52:29] David's future growth plans.   What it Takes to Be a Top Recruiter What does it take to become a top recruiter? It certainly involves grind and hard work. David's 29-year experience provides him with a credible perspective on what it takes to be successful. This also gives him an advantage as a recruitment leader - his capabilities are a testament to how his team has been performing. Below are the critical topics that David and I discussed:   10-5-2 Formula Being cognizant of your time Planning ahead of your phone time Mindset   If you are listening, as a recruiter or recruitment leader, David's insights are inspiring!   The Foundation of Being a Successful Recruiter   Being consistently successful in a long time requires more than hard work. There is something else and David generously shared his secret sauce:   “So I think having that gratitude, understanding that we get to talk to people for a living and have just an incredible life, incredible income opportunity, incredible balance, we can manage our life any way we want it… And I think that fuels getting up in the morning and saying, you know what? This is gonna be another great day. It's gonna be a great year. It's gonna be a great month. Well, if it's not been a great month, next month's gonna be great. So having that sort of mindset, I think, is really, and factor a lot of fun into this.”   This fantastic mindset is an invisible but highly influential factor that determines your success as a recruiter or recruitment business owner. Possessing a positive mindset enables us to navigate the favorable and unfavorable changes we encounter with resilience.   The Keys to Continuous Growth and Eight-Figure BIllings   David shares how Movement produced $20M in billings around 2022-23. It was a great year for them post-Covid, and the systems and frameworks they had at the time enabled them to retain the momentum even when things appear to slow down in 2024. I wanted to pick David's brains on the culture and systems they have in place, given that not many recruiting firms get above 8 figures.    My takeaway is how they emphasise creating and enabling a culture geared towards high performance.  They have annual trips for the top 10% of producers, on top of regular social activities and loyalty bonus programs. They also have annual meetings where they fly everyone in, including their staff's spouses. Doing so contributes to relationship-building and as David said, “an essential part of the culture.”   David also discussed their profit-sharing scheme. What I also loved was his insights on managing KPIs while not micromanaging everything.
