As we close out our series on the oft-forgotten genius of classical music, Franz Liszt, we bid the old maestro a fond farewell. Much like future rockstars would also experience, he would be forced to deal with a psychotic and dangerous stalker, hell-bent on taking him down one way or another. Despite his old age, Franz's popularity as a musician (and with the ladies) continues on, selling out concerts to adoring fans. But his golden years were not always kind to him, as he became more prone to bouts of depression, probably not aided by last remaining daughter, Cosima, who was still committed to the nefarious Richard Wagner. As the number of his medical conditions grew, his mental and physical state would decline, and the once affable charmer would evolve into a stereotypical grumpy old man. But how did it all come to an end? Tune in to part six -- our conclusion episode -- of Franz Liszt to find out! (Ep. 035)
In part five of our series on classical composer, Franz Liszt, we learn about the most tragic part of Franz's life, which compels him to become a clergyman of the Catholic Church. That's right: the infamous ladies-man has decided to become abbé! Does that mean the notorious lothario has to give up his promiscuous lifestyle to appease his faith? Regardless, this sensational news would sweep through Europe and cause a second wave of Lisztomania, filling his concerts to the brim once again! But what about his daughter, Cosima? Turns out, she has fallen into the web of the controversial Richard Wagner, whose influential prejudices would echo through history in unimaginable ways. Tune in for part five of Franz Liszt to learn more! (Ep. 034)

Was heißt Fisch auf Englisch? Sind wir back in the Gastro-Summer of '92? Lernt man genug? Warum treten so wenig junge Menschen handwerkliche Ausbildungsberufe an?
English portrait artist and sculptor, Eleanor Cardozo, is known for her bronze sculptures and the dynamic movement in her work. Eleanor was born in London in 1965, the second of 10 children to Colonel Benedict Cardozo, a Military Attaché in the British Army, and Caroline Cardozo, an artist and musician. Her childhood was subjected to the typical adventures of a military family when her father was posted overseas to Aden, Malaysia, Germany, Malawi, Ghana, Cyprus and Gibraltar. Eleanor's education began at a French school in Ghana, followed by boarding school from ages 8 -18 at St Mary's Convent in Dorset. Her interest in art began as a small child so it was with a degree of inevitability that she chose the City & Guilds School of Art London for Fine Art in Sculpture, followed by the Florence Academy and Cecil Graves School in Italy for portraiture. She says: ”I think because I respected my parents so much and they had very high expectations, pretty much everything we did, whether it was piano or art or academics, they wanted it to be at the highest level.” This episode is more than an interview; it's an intimate portrait of an artist's life, filled with anecdotes that make you laugh, moments that inspire, and revelations that make you ponder the nature of creativity. Eleanor's reflections on her boarding school days, her family's musical legacy, and her spiritual journey add layers to her persona, revealing a woman who is as multifaceted as the sculptures she creates. We hear how being a gymnast and dancer through her teens informed her appreciation for athletic movement. Her love of beauty is evident in her work, which has adorned venues such as the Beau-Rivage Palace hotel in Lausanne, Cirque du Soleil, Harrods in London, Terminal 5 at Heathrow, Westminster Abbey, the Palais Wilson in Geneva to name a few. Her work is primarily commission based but, as she explains, she is also keen to explore other art forms. Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 2:19-22; James 1:12Dinner was ready, and everyone was called to the table. After Dad prayed, Gianna was the first to notice that something was wrong. "These dishes are dirty!" she exclaimed. "Why are they on the table?"Mom gasped as she looked at her plate. "My fault. I told Grandma to use the plates from the dishwasher. I must have forgotten to turn it on last night.""Oh dear!" exclaimed Grandma, who was nearly blind. "They must have been rinsed off and I couldn't see well enough to know they were still dirty. I'm so sorry!" After a good laugh, Gianna and her sister Cosima jumped up to remove the dirty dishes and replace them with clean ones. After reading the passage for family devotions that evening, Dad closed his Bible thoughtfully. "The verses we just read say that we are vessels to be used by God. We all saw how unpleasant it would be to eat out of dirty vessels at dinner tonight, didn't we? We want clean dishes for our food.""That's for sure!" said Cosima."When God says we need to be clean vessels, do you suppose He means we should take a bath?" asked Dad."Well, I've heard a saying about how cleanliness is next to godliness," said Gianna."Is that in the Bible?" asked Cosima.Dad chuckled. "No, it's not. We should keep our bodies clean, of course, but I don't think that's what these verses mean.""I don't think so either," said Mom. "God says we need to have hearts made clean and pure by Jesus and live in a way that shows others His love. I think that's what He's referring to here."Dad nodded. "The apostle Paul told Timothy to flee from evil desires and pursue virtues like faith, love, and peace alongside other believers. We need to do the same thing. As Christians, we need to remind one another to turn from sin and focus on Jesus, who has forgiven our wrongs and washed us clean. As we trust Him to fill us with His peace and love, we become vessels He can use to show others who He is.""We needed clean dishes for dinner tonight," said Grandma. "And the world needs clean vessels to show people the love of Jesus." –Mary Rose PearsonHow About You?Are you a clean vessel that's ready to be used? The only way we can be clean and pure is to trust Jesus to forgive our sins. (To learn more, click the "Good News!" button in the right column of this page or go to www.keysforkids.org/goodnews.) Then, as He works in our hearts, He helps us turn away from sin and share His love with others in the way we live. It is essentially the opposite of the placebo effect, where a person experiences improvements in their condition due to believing in the effectiveness of a treatment, even if it is inert. In the case of the nocebo effect, negative expectations can lead to real physiological or psychological effects, often complicating medical treatments and clinical trials. SynopsisFor a magic golden ring, the dwarf Alberich was willing to renounce love to become master of the world. At least, that's the story in Richard Wagner's four operas The Ring of the Nibelungen, which premiered in 1876 at Wagner's specially constructed theater in Bayreuth, Germany. And for $1 million, Wagner was prepared to renounce not only Bayreuth, but Germany, and settle in America, offering in exchange the premiere and exclusive performance rights to his latest opera, Parsifal. That was the offer Wagner outlined in a letter to his American dentist on today's date in 1880. Wagner's wife, Cosima, recorded in her diary that Wagner seemed obsessed with idea of settling in Minnesota, of all places.Dr. Newell Jenkins dutifully passed the proposal on to wealthy music patrons in the states. But even the most ardent Wagnerians among them said that if his operas couldn't sell in Germany, they wouldn't fare any better on the banks of the Mississippi.Well, Jenkins broke the news that a) the million dollars was not going to materialize, and b) there were such things as mosquitoes and blizzards in Minnesota. Wagner prudently decided to give Germany one more chance.Music Played in Today's ProgramRichard Wagner (1813-1883) Das Rheingold, excerpt; soloists and Bavarian Radio Symphony; Bernard Haitink, cond. My guest is Victoria Cosima an energy influencer/healer trained in face reading (a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine). Through her lifelong passion for beauty she knew there was a missing component in a very skin-deep-only industry. Her work uses the wrinkles and features of the face as a guide to release stuck emotions and energy, connect with pleasure and joy, and awaken spiritually. During our conversation she shares how the differing areas of our face reflect events in our lives and when we experienced them. She also recommends practices and products we can incorporate into our own beauty routines. https://victoriacosima.com/ ---- Work with me Spiritual Life Coaching: https://www.carolmaewhittick.com/her-coaching Your Awakened Voice https://carol-mae-whittick.thinkific.com/courses/your-awakened-voice Connect with me Carol Mae Whittick website: https://www.carolmaewhittick.com/ Carol Mae Whittick Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cazmick/ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Cazmick https://www.facebook.com/carolmaewhittick YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@TheMaeMusia LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/carolmaewhittick/ HER Conversations https://pod.link/1304558894 HER Inspirations https://pod.link/1656101961 Show your support: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/CMWhittick
