The Rush Hour Melbourne Catch Up - 105.1 Triple M Melbourne - James Brayshaw and Billy Brownless
Billy has a new nickname for JB, and the All Sports Report starts with Oscar Allen's press conference apologising to his teammates and fans after his meeting with Sam Mitchell. Western Bulldog mature-age recruit Sam Davidson calls in to talk about his astonishing journey to the AFL, then Billy has a talkback topic that might be his worst ever... yet still somehow works. We relive Billy eating curried sausages at the Cremorne, and we've got an update on the Bulgarian soccer team that held a tribute for a dead teammate who wasn't actually dead. Billy's Idiot File is a monster, we're giving away an epic Gather Round prize, and Collingwood legend Peter Daicos calls in ahead of the Pies and Blues tonight. Finally, Billy has two jokes to finish the week.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

For the launch of Episode 1 of Season 3, Climbing the Charts sat down with Sam Davidson, who on June 28, 2023, was announced as Jane Allen's successor as the next CEO of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center (EC). Sam hit the ground running in this high visibility, high impact new role, which he describes on his Linkedin profile as: “Working to make Nashville the most entrepreneurial city in America.” For more than a decade, the EC has connected entrepreneurs with critical resources to create, launch, and grow businesses, and has become a centerpiece of the connective tissue and business ecosystem of Music City. Sam provides us with an overview of the EC's current programs and services, as well as provides some truly fascinating metrics about its impact and successes in a city that now boasts 2 million people and 53,000 businesses. During our conversation with Sam, we learn about his path as a four-time entrepreneur, author of three books, and noted speaker, as well as some of the unique experiences, both business and personal, that have shaped him and the thinking he brings to bear in his new role. Sam also has some incredible insights and advice for would-be entrepreneurs, as well as those trying to scale their businesses. Learn why Sam believes adaptability is the thread that unites the most successful entrepreneurs, and how the single most critical factor for success is “access to a mentor” (that's where the EC comes in). Sam also offers some fascinating insights on the role community plays in personal and business successes, and explains what he means that the height of his success is “directly related to the depth of my community.” We promise you will learn some very interesting things in this inviting conversation, as well as learn more about Sam's vision and future plans for the Nashville EC. Music City was ranked as the 4th best city for starting a business by Inc in 2020, so we still have work to do to achieve Sam's vision of Nashville as the most entrepreneurial city in America!

This week on Off the Cuff with Danny LoPriore, I am sitting with my producer Sam Davidson and together we take questions that you, our audience, want me to answer. Listen as I answer questions on a variety of topics ranging from anxiety and panic attacks to relationships and suicidal thoughts. I talk about my own personal struggles with negative thinking and give relationship advice for couples who are in a similar predicament and seeking a clear way forward. I also talk about the very sensitive topic of suicidal thoughts and what actions to take in order to successfully negotiate with this delicate state of mind. This is one episode you don't want to miss. “I used to be so caught up in being negative that I could paint anything as negative. I became this real negative artist where I could construe and conjure things to be negative. But a lot of it is just taking accountability and telling yourself that you're not going to go that route today and you start with one day trying to be positive throughout the day” Danny – (09:03) “Bad things happen in the back of your mind. You always know that can happen. But when you're already in a negative mindset and bad things happen, it's just like a kind of a recipe for disaster.” Danny – (16:06) “You know, some people have to look out for the best. And then if people aren't willing to put in the effort and try and change for people that they say that they love, that doesn't sit well with me. You have to really put yourself in situations to be uncomfortable if you want a relationship to work.” Danny – (18:01) In This Episode: (01:40) – Danny talks about a recent panic attack. (06:35) – Why some minds only pick up on the negative stuff. (13:34) – Danny's advice to people struggling with mental health issues. (15:13) – Reflecting on his own journey through therapy. (21:28) – On doing standup through anxiety and panic. (24:37) – The difference between being nervous and being anxious. (27:23) – How to tackle early morning anxiety. (32:09) – How to stop overthinking every little thing. (36:01) – Talking about how to react emotionally. (38:35) – Danny's advice on how to deal with suicidal thoughts. As we work through these six questions from our Off the Cuff community, we talk about everything from friendships and imposter syndrome to resentment and romantic relationships. We even learn more about each other in the process. “You just gotta respect your process because it's yours! And don't force it; just kind of go with the flow. If you feel inspired, do some art and figure out what it is that makes you feel inspired and do more of that.” – Sam (10:30) In the spirit of this podcast, we also discuss the importance of prioritizing your mental health in everything: art, family, love, etc. No matter what season of life you're in, it's important to remember that your life is yours to live and that you have a responsibility to yourself and your inner child to prioritize your peace, safety, and happiness! “I'm the main character in my story. I'm a supporting character in other people's stories. I'm an influence in other people's stories. And then I just ain't shit in other people's stories… We all kind of do live our own movie if you really think about it.” – Danny (26:32) In This Episode: (1:37) How to find and attract healthy friendships (5:26) Tips to deal with imposter syndrome in a creative industry (13:14) Moving forward after infidelity in a relationship (18:28) How to exercise empathy to combat resentment (25:00) How to ground yourself in a moment of depersonalization (30:01) The ways we can support our future children's mental health (32:42) Our holiday plans and resolutions for the new year Resources & Links Off The Cuff https://www.offthecuff.fm/ https://www.youtube.com/c/OffTheCuffwithDannyLoPriore https://www.instagram.com/1and1otc/ https://www.instagram.com/dannylopriore/
