The Mandalorian: How to Foster Internal Cohesion for B2B Marketing Success

Imagine your marketing team working on a project with clear guidelines. They know what their end goal is. Everyone's executing their role, communicating seamlessly, and meeting deadlines. The result? Marketing perfection. This could be you, after you listen to this. We've all experienced the frustration of working on a project where expectations and roles aren't clear. Some people put in more effort than others, work is sloppy, deadlines are missed. There's an imbalance that makes getting any work done nearly impossible. But there's a magic that happens when you foster a culture of communication, trust, and cohesion; working together as one. And through this culture, you can power amazing results. On this episode of Remarkable, we're getting in the groove with the help of Webby Honoree and Global Executive Content Marketing Lead at VMware, Yadin Porter de León. Together, we're exploring how to foster internal cohesion for B2B marketing success and taking lessons from The Mandalorian. So you can take your marketing team by the hands and say, ‘This is the way.”About The MandalorianThe Mandalorian is a Star Wars TV series that launched in 2019. It's created and executive produced by Jon Favreau, who we know on Remarkable for also directing and executive producing Iron Man. Jon Favreau partnered with Lucas Film and Disney for the production of the series. It's considered a space western and is the first live action TV series in the franchise. It stars Pedro Pascal as the main character, Din Djarin. And the show premiered on Disney+ on November 12, 2019. It's now in its third season with a fourth in development. The Mandalorian takes place after The Return of the Jedi and the fall of the Galactic Empire. Din Djarin is a lone bounty hunter who's hired by Imperial Forces to go get the child Grogu aka Baby Yoda. Instead, Din Djarin ends up going on the run to protect Grogu and reunite Grogu with his kind. What B2B Companies Can Learn From The Mandalorian: Align across the C-suite about your strategic go-to-market strategy. Once leadership agrees on the strategy, messaging, channels, and target customers, they can direct the rest of the company. But Yadin says it's not just about creating a doc or a presentation. It's about building relationships, gaining trust, and getting buy-in from people. He says, “That agreement takes a lot of work. It takes a lot of alignment across so many different stakeholders and interests. And then once you have that, you have everyone who's bought into it able to move in the same direction.”Give your marketing team guardrails and the end goal, and then let them decide how they get to the finished product. You've got a brilliant team of marketers at your service, so trust their ingenuity. Give them the autonomy to use their creativity and problem solving skills to achieve the end result you're looking for. Ian says, “The idea of ‘This is the way,' this is our marketing strategy, allows people to be very creative within those left and right limits." And Yadin adds, "Don't tell them how to do it, but tell them what the vision and the outcome is and then see what amazing things they create.”Quotes*”The mantra of, ‘This is the way' demonstrates the way in which multiple different people can follow the same path and produce great results, and create great value when they don't have to be born in the same area or be brought up in the same way.” - Yadin Porter de Léon“That mantra applied to B2B marketing can be extremely powerful if you have messaging and branding consistency. Where you go to market in the same way across all of your geos, across all your departments, across all of your business units instead of having all these weird, crazy, fragmented things that may seem cool at the time, but not actually showing up in the market in a way that will actually tell a consistent story.” - Yadin Porter de Léon“There are bad things too. Like, you can get stuck, lost in cookie pulling and retargeting and brand ads and all the things we've always done the same way. And so ‘This is the way' means basically, you know, get on board, or else,” - Yadin Porter de Léon*”Create a vision and then inspire those people who want to be creative to be creative, because now they have the guardrails. Don't tell them how to do it, but tell them what the vision and the outcome is and then see what amazing things they create.” - Yadin Porter de LéonTime Stamps[1:40] Get to know Yadin Porter de Léon, Global Executive Content Marketing Lead at VMware[2:19] Tell me more about The Mandalorian[8:52] What's the story behind how The Mandalorian was made?[12:11] What are the core truths behind the Mandalorian?[14:58] How can “This is the way” be applied to B2B marketing?[17:52] Learn more about OneVMware[18:18] What role does leadership play in establishing internal alignment[19:44] Tell me more about the podcast CIO Exchange [28:52] How to bring your brand to market in a way that will resonate with your audienceLinksWatch “The Mandalorian”Connect with Yadin on LinkedInLearn more about VMwareAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. Chapter 7 of Star Wars: Heir to the Empire (1991) (EU: 9 ABY) by Timothy Zahn. The Story So FarThe New Republic and what is left of the Imperial Forces are at a turning point in their struggle for galactic control. While both sides are struggling economically, the New Republic is having trouble establishing itself politically, and the Imperial Remnants are hunting for opportunities to turn the tide. Captain Pallaeon accompanies Grand Admiral Thrawn, the last surviving Warlord appointed by Emperor Palpatine, to a storehouse of technology they hope will aid their war effort. Along with new cloaking shield technology, they ally themselves with a Dark Jedi clone, Joruus C'Baoth, promising him Leia Organa Solo's unborn twins. During the course of their diplomatic mission and while separated from Luke Skywalker, Leia and Han Solo fall prey to an ambush in the bustling markets of Bimmisaari. Chapter 7Luke frees himself from an ambush in the Bim Tower and races to rescue Leia and Han in the marketplace. Safely aboard the Millennium Falcon, Han makes the jump to lightspeed. It seems that one of the Bims was paid off to lead the protagonists into the trap but have no other information about their assailants. Leia wants to resume negotiations, but Han first wants to rendezvous with tactical support before returning. After pressure from Luke and Han, Leia agrees that she needs to start lightsaber training sooner than later. LinksStar Wars: Heir to the Empire - Part One (fixed!) by DarthAngelus - YouTubeHolodrama | WookieepediaFrank Castle (Marvel Database) is not William Castle (IMDb)Lightyear Theory: "The Movie" Andy Saw That Inspired Him To Want A Buzz Toy Wasn't A Kid's Movie : r/FanTheories Share and SupportShare this episode (cross platform link)Discuss this chapter on Discord, YouTube, or RedditSupport us on PatreonOur WebsiteRelease DocumentTranscriptHosts' ThoughtsLuke: “Let's talk this out.” Also Luke: “There's no particular reason why any of you has to be hurt.”What would a lightsaber do against the spray?I like how clumsiness and chance play into the action“Some sort of bizarre gift wrapping”It's so cool to see Luke being so observant in combat and his precise use of telekinesis“Snap-hiss.” The key onomatopoeia for Luke's lightsaber ignitionWho was operating the Falcon's swivel gun?“I am not a committee.” GIVE LEIA A LIGHTSABERHas Leia exhibited any traits similar to Anakin? The word Bimm has lost all meaningCan C-3P0 duck? Can't believe they were attacked and are expected to just come back downSupport the Show.

When you think of a Hutt, it's likely you tend to imagine a slobbish, greedy, slug like creature that can barely move. They get their violent natured underlings to do their dirty work for them. Well, not so much for this Hutt. Avid Jedi artefact collector and crime lord Graccus The Hutt, equipped with 8 cybernetic legs, took on the battles himself. And that's what he did on the day Imperial Forces invaded Graccus's gladiatorial arena on the Hutt homeplanet of Nar Shaddaa. Just a few weeks after the Destruction of the first Death Star, Luke Skywalker had journeyed there in search of finding a pilot to take him to Coruscant. Before he could find one, the local leader Grachus the Hutt found him, imprisoned him, and forced him to fight in his arena for entertainment. But Vader soon discovered Luke was there, and sent a squadron to retrieve him. Gracchus, in order to keep his place as leader in the criminal hive of Nar Shadaa, was forced to fight. Battlefield historian Pete Smith joins Adam to discuss 1918 as victory was not apparent for the Allies as the beginning of 1918. The fierce fighting of previous years had cost the AIF dearly in the numbers of men killed, wounded or permanently injured. Harsh lessons had been learned as both sides of the War came to terms with the new technologies and strategies being used. The German Spring Offensive pushed the Allies to their limits and led to changes in the command structure which sought to better co-ordinate their efforts. The One Hundred Days Offensive finally broke the German Army's resolve and ensured victory for the Allies.   Presenter: Adam Blum Guest: Pete Smith - Battlefield guide for Mat Mclachlan Battlefield Tours Editor: Kyle Watkins For more great episodes visit TrueBlueHistory.com or Subscribe to our Youtube channel TrueBlueHistory, join our Facebook page TrueBlueHistory, follow us on Instagram and twitter @TrueBlueHistory. The Western Front in 1917 was a place of grim statistics and bitter fighting for the AIF. The Allied and the German armies were locked in a fierce struggle for supremacy which saw both sides suffer heavy casualty losses. While some of the battles that occurred during this year are well known by Australians, others have been slower to achieve widespread recognition. At home, the true cost of the War was becoming painfully clear. By the end of 1917, despite the bravery and sacrifice of the troops, victory still appeared to be a distant possibility. What if BB8 was running from the Imperial Forces who in this Silly and Funny Thing are basically a bumbling slapstick act? Silly and Funny Things are our family's bed time stories. Each boy (Miles and Ari) gets to pick a word that will show up in the story. The stories aren't edited (who has time for that) and they include everything from chit-chat to us reprimanding our kids - a very immersive experience. The only other thing you need to know is that the boys' have a baby brother nicknamed Shmuley and he is a baby genius.

REGIONAL(S) REPORT(S)! I know I say this a lot, and you might think it's hyperbolic, but seriously friends. My brain. It broke. This is a longer episode, but that's because Lucas Davidson marched into town with his Imperial Forces of Darkness to deliver reports on his regional season, INCLUDING THREE REGIONAL WINS. I know. It's insane. Lucas breaks down Vader, eJets, & Co. He talks about his original iteration of the list (with Rule By Fear) and chronicles the evolution to the current flavor de jour (Unshakeable with Parting Blow et al.). It is amazing.  IF YOU ARE RUNNING EMPIRE YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE. IF YOU ARE RUNNING AGAINST EMPIRE YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE. History would call this time the Iron Blockade. The Emperor has been assassinated -- And proof has been provided by Grand Admiral Thrawn. The regional governors fight for the scraps that remain. In the Greater Javin Area, in the Anoat Sector, hangs a planet called Nethoin. Official communications for everyone but the Empire are blocked. The people are starting to get anxious, they've begun hoarding the essentials as store shelves quickly become barren. Gang activity and smugglers are becoming brazen with alarming swiftness, as businesses and private citizens alike begin to turn to grey areas of the law in order to get food, clean water, and life-saving medications that have all but disappeared. Things are escalating quickly, and now Governor Adelhard is dead. Imperial Forces now look to Grand Admiral Thrawn who assumes command. Which is where the Terrible Warriors come in.
