En el programa El Remate de La Diez Capital Radio, Jordi Losa, director de la Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Icod de los Vinos, compartió la satisfacción y el orgullo que supone para el centro haber sido distinguido con la “Cepa de Honor” otorgada por el Centro de Iniciativas Turísticas de Icod de los Vinos. Durante la entrevista, Losa resaltó que este reconocimiento no solo pone en valor la labor educativa que desarrolla la EOI desde hace décadas, sino también su implicación activa en la vida cultural y social del municipio. Explicó que la escuela se ha convertido en un punto de encuentro para personas de todas las edades interesadas en aprender idiomas y abrirse nuevas oportunidades, tanto laborales como personales, y destacó que el premio es un estímulo para seguir fortaleciendo la oferta formativa y ampliando proyectos que conecten la enseñanza de idiomas con la identidad local y con el desarrollo del territorio. Losa también subrayó la estrecha relación entre la EOI y la comunidad de Icod de los Vinos, señalando que la escuela, además de su función académica, participa regularmente en iniciativas culturales, actividades municipales y propuestas que fomentan el intercambio lingüístico y la integración social. En su intervención, agradeció al CIT la distinción y la dedicación que mantiene hacia la promoción del municipio, así como a todo el equipo docente y al alumnado, cuyo compromiso ha permitido que la institución se consolide como un referente educativo en la comarca. La entrevista concluyó con una invitación abierta a seguir apostando por la formación en idiomas como herramienta clave para el futuro y como puente entre Icod de los Vinos y el mundo.

Una investigación, realizada por un equipo internacional de expertos, que analizaron los datos de 86.149 personas de 27 países europeos encontraron una relación entre hablar varios idiomas y una edad biológica y mental más joven. En concreto, hablar más de un idioma no solo facilita la comunicación intercultural, también fortalece las funciones cognitivas que se debilitan naturalmente con el paso de los años. El multilingüismo protege al cerebro contra el envejecimiento acelerado, tanto a nivel cognitivo como funcional.
