Jake Friend Interview
On this week's edition of ‘All Ball' we reflect on the incredible career of Sydney Roosters legend Jake Friend. We discuss his rocky start to his career with the Roosters, before his incredible development as a player and leader. Friend a three time premiership winner is regarded as one of the best modern day dummy halves and was unfortunate to not play more representative football. Trent Robinson evolved his offence most years and Jake's ability to adapt and help guide his team around the park was a weekly occurrence. It was a shame that his career ended prematurely but he was incredibly successful and build and unforgettable legacy at the Bondi club. In ‘the Match' we pair up two club legends from the New Zealand Warriors- Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Manu Vatuvei. RTS had an impressive start to his career for the Sydney Roosters before moving home to the Warriors and establishing himself as one of the games best players. Dominating at fullback, RTS also showed incredible leadership moving into a captaincy role and helping to guide the Warriors through some challenging times. Despite his defection to rugby union, he still remains one of the clubs best ever players. While for Vatuvei, he inspired a generation of young kiwi players to strive to play rugby league and put fear in the opposition. Manu now finds himself in a challenging situation post career but will be remembered as a fierce rugby league player. And to round out the show in 'Rapid Fire', we focus in on the Gold Coast Titans, as we ask the hard hitting questions including the improvements and repairs they need to make to turn their season around. Where to now for the Titans?~ Dan, Micki & Coz
3x NRL Premiership winner with the Sydney Roosters, Jake Friend joined the boys to preview their finsls clash with Manly tonight, his retirement and memories of that famous 2013 Grand Final win.

On this weeks episode of Roosters Radio, we sit down with Roosters enforcer Victor 'The Inflictor' Radley.Victor shares his excitement of returning this week after suspension, his opinion on his tackling style and what he has been up to in his spare time.Radley also talks about his learnings from both Boyd Cordner and Jake Friend, his own role in the leadership group and his excitement towards our young Roosters squad. We also hear from a special guest about the re-signing of Toops and Lindsay, along with NRLW star Jess Sergis.
Jake Friend (born 1 February 1990) is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played as a hooker. He spent his entire first-grade career, spanning 2008 to 2021, with the Sydney Roosters in the NRL; at the time of his retirement, he was the club's co-captain. Friend won three premierships with the Roosters,in 2013, 2018 and 2019. Internationally, Friend represented Australia in a Test in 2016. Friend also represented the Prime Minister's XIII, World All Stars and Queensland. With the latter, he won the 2020 State of Origin series, playing in all three games, in what would be the final full season of his playing career. Jake is actions over words, he has said on many occasions that he'd rather his playing speak for him. I've witnessed it countless times as he walks the halls of Roosters HQ, people are better because he is there, his presence commands respect. He is first and foremost a friend, brother, husband and father, who played Rugby League. Enjoy!
Trent Robinson is the coach of the Sydney Roosters NRL Club. ‘Robbo’, as he’s known, has taken the club to win three Premierships and is the longest-serving coach in the Roosters’ history. His achievements and ability to bring together and build strong teams put him in competition as one of the game’s greatest contemporary coaches. Ahead of the 2021 NRL Season, Trent sits down with Mark on the coach for a Straight Talk that dives into ‘Robbo's background and upbringing, how Trent brings in thoughtfulness to the dressing room, and how he balances it with action and winning games. It’s a rare insight into one of Australia’s best coaching minds.' Follow Mark Bouris on Instagram, LinkedIn & YouTube. Want to grow your business and stay ahead of the pack? The career of Roosters Club Legend - Jake Friend will be celebrated tonight after announcing his retirement from the NRL following a nasty head knock in Round One of the 2021 season. He'll be publicly acknowledged in front of family and friends with a guard of honour that'll be by his teammates one last time before the Roosters go toe to toe with the Broncos. Mitchell Aubusson who ran out with Friend on a number of occasions joined the Continuous Call Team to reflect on the Club legends stellar career. He says “tonight's a great opportunity to salute one of the Roosters best in my opinion - it's one of the biggest nights of the year for the club.” Speaking on Friends' contribution over the years, Aubusson told the boys “he is a born leader”. “He always wins the fitness in pre-season and leads the rest of the team with his preparation”. The Queensland representative had some struggles along the way but Aubusson says “he's come through the other side which not many footballers have been through” Friend is ready for life after Footy with his own Cafe and Plumbing business setup but it's believed he'll still be involved with the Tricolours in some capacity. Aubusson thinks the Roosters would be crazy to let someone go that has done so much for the Club with his experience, something which the young guys will be able to learn from. The Roosters veteran says he's “excited” to see young gun Joseph Suaalii make his debut for the Club tonight. “He's earned his spot and I have no doubt he will perform tonight” Aubusson says of the 17 year old teen sensation. “Joseph has been around the group for quite a well now - but now he's got his opportunity.” You can hear the Continuous Call Team cover all the action from the SCG tonight in what will be a historic occasion for the Sydney Roosters.
