If you've ever hit a money milestone and felt… weird about it? Guilty? Like you shouldn't talk about it? Or like you need to “earn it harder”? This episode is for you. So many women feel guilt when money starts to flow — not because they're ungrateful, but because they've been taught (often unconsciously) that having more than others is unsafe, unkind, or “too much.” Today we're unpacking: ✨ What really causes money guilt — and why it shows up even after success We break down the hidden beliefs formed in childhood, culture, family systems, and early career environments that tell women to “stay small” financially. ✨ The identity conflict between your old self and your wealthy self Your nervous system only tolerates what feels familiar. When money grows, identity must expand too. ✨ How guilt leads to undercharging, over-giving, and emotional overspending You'll hear the patterns that keep women stuck in a cycle of earning → shrinking → earning → shrinking. ✨ The shift from guilt to gratitude, and from shame to stewardship I'll walk you through practical mindset reframes to help you feel safe receiving, having, and holding more money. There's money earned with integrity, and there's money made through exploitation, manipulation, or outright unethical behavior. From Wall Street schemes to corporate landlords charging grieving families thousands after a loved one dies, the difference between good and bad money couldn't be clearer. True capitalism and freedom only work when guided by morality and ethical guardrails. Without them, we justify anything—and the cost comes due later.
In 2021, a neatly dressed man in his 60s walks into a Sydney Police Station. He looks like a regular guy. But police are stunned - this isn’t just any man. It’s Darko Desic. A fugitive who escaped from Grafton Prison with a hacksaw and bolt cutters three decades earlier. A man who was a prolific weed grower. A man who lived in hiding for 30 years - right under the noses of the police. How did he do it? How did he evade capture for so long? And why, after all that time, did he finally give himself up? That’s what journalist Tim Elliot set out to uncover in the latest season of LiSTNR’s documentary series, Secrets We Keep. If you’re hooked and want more, click here to go straight to episode 2. I just have a conversation with myself and I try to understand the Ho-Chunk definitions of "Good Money" and "Bad Money". Apparently there is a difference and I'm just not sure what the difference is. I laud our unofficial partnership with Diane Hendricks as we pursue the same goal, "A Better Beloit". Though the Ho-Chunk Nation and Diane Hendricks are on opposites ends of the political spectrum, it's wonderful to see that as adults, we can put those differences aside and work for the common good. Rummor has it that we are folding our Section 17 and replacing it with a Section 16. Good for us. Everybody was tired of that 12 Clans and I'm sure, happy to see it go. Still, I would have liked to see it stay with new leadership, and not just Ho-Chunk or Waaksik leadership.

Ever feel like you're earning good money but somehow have nothing to show for it? You're not alone! This episode dives into the five reasons why this might be happening and how to start flipping the script. From systems and goals to managing impulse spending and resisting the PTA's surprise volleyball fundraiser, we've got practical tips and relatable laughs to help you take control of your finances. Key Takeaways: Reason #1: No System Money without a system is like laundry without a schedule—chaos! It's not just about a budget but a budget system. Reason #2: Not Paying Attention Ignoring your bank account doesn't make problems disappear. It's time to take a guilt-free, honest look at your spending. Reason #3: No Goals Without clear goals, money just slips away. Rediscover your “why” to stay motivated. Reason #4: Letting Others Decide Stop being reactive. Whether it's kids, coworkers, or subscription services—take back control. Practice saying “no” or “not right now” (we share some creative ways to do it!). Reason #5: Spending Without a Purpose Spending is fine—but let's make it intentional. Separate spending accounts can help reduce the overwhelm and prevent accidental overspending. Homework: Print out your bank statement for one month (avoid holiday months for more accuracy). Grab your highlighters, categorize your spending, and find your biggest money leaks. This step helps you build a realistic and clear budget moving forward. Fun Moment: Shana shared her favorite no-fail strategy for handling her kids' impulse asks: “Go ask your dad!” Vanessa chimed in with her Amazon “save for later” folder that rivals most people's retirement accounts.
