Earlier this week, a video purportedly showing a group of people offering namaz at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru ignited a political controversy in Karnataka, with the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party taking exception to the incident and demanding accountability from the State government. Around the same time, in Uttar Pradesh, the police began removing unauthorised sound systems from mosques and temples in some areas. In India, it is common to see Navratri celebrations at the airport, namaz on railway platforms, commemoration of Sikh Gurus' Jayanti on the roads of Delhi, hear azaan on a loudspeaker five times a day, and jagrans all night long. India is undeniably demonstrative about religion in public space. Should public celebrations or expression of devotion be avoided? Here we discuss the question. Ever Since We Small – A Reading by Celeste MohammedIn this episode of BCLF Cocoa Pod, award-winning writer Celeste Mohammed reads from her second novel-in-stories, Ever Since We Small. Spanning generations of an Indo-Trinidadian family, the book follows the Gopauls from Jayanti's journey as a girmitiya to the struggles of her descendants in modern Trinidad.Along the journey of these ten interconnected stories, the alchemy necessary to turn the Gopauls' inheritance of pain into a "generation of gold" requires intervention by the living and dead, the "real" and the mythical, the mundane and the magical, the secular and the sacred. This episode of BCLF Cocoa Pod was made possible with the support of funds from the Brooklyn Arts Council Local Arts Support Grant

The krishna-ekadaśi (11th day of the waning moon) right before Phalahārinī Pūjā is known as the Apara-ekadaśi and it coincides with Bhadrakālī Jayanti, the celebration of Mā in her "auspicious" form. While the word "Bhadra" (which can be both a noun and an adjective) means something like "auspicious", "noble", "protectress" etc. we have to ask: what does that really mean? Is this a gentle (saumya) form of Kālī as contrasted with how She is usually depicted in Her smaśāna/ghora (cremation ground/fierce) form? Or do we just have to update our understanding of the word "auspicious" to include even those aspects of life that the mind rejects? In this talk, we read excerpts from Swami Vivekananda's Bengali poem to Kālĩ "And Let Shyāma Dance There" we we learn about the Worship of the Terrible and Mā's Non-Dual, All-Inclusive Form which will radically change the way we understand "auspicious"-ness in the context of spiritual life. Also, we tell some stories from the Puranas to make the case that Vīra-bhadra, in the well-known immolation of Sati/destrcution of Daksha's sacrifice story can be seen as synonymous with Bhadrakālī. Of course, I make a case as to why the latter, female version is better, theologically. This will help us understand why Mā in many of her sahasranāmas stotravalis (thousand names hymns) is called "Daksha-yajña-vināśinī", the one who destroys Daksha's sacrifice. May this be an offering to Her, the auspicious one, who destroys all false ideas and tears down all pretense!PS: here is a playlist (our signature series, our flagship course), all of our talks on Mā.Support the showLectures happen live every Monday at 7pm PST and Friday 10am PST and again Friday at 6pm PST.Use this link and I will see you there:https://www.zoom.us/j/7028380815For more videos, guided meditations and instruction and for access to our lecture library, visit me at:https://www.patreon.com/yogawithnishTo get in on the discussion and access various spiritual materials, join our Discord here: https://discord.gg/U8zKP8yMrM
Last year we gave this talk on Mā Bagalā, on the auspicious occasion of her Jayanti: Bagalā and Black Magick in Tantraand this year, we gave two talks to celebrate the same occasion. The first one is: How To Worship Mā Bagalāmukhī where we went over one of the tantras for Her worship (which you can find here. It's a work in progress!) and this is the second one, approaching Mā Bagalā in a slightly more oblique and thematic way, by discussing the nature of Absolute Silence. I make a claim that even in silence there is articulation "I am", which is called Parā-Vāc, supreme speech which always inheres in the Absolute and is never attenuated! Because Buddha Purnima (the full moon celebrating the birth, death and enlightenment of the Shakyamuni Buddha) is so close to Chinnamastā Jayanti, when we celebrate the self-decapitating form of Mā, this year I decided to combine the two themes into one lecture. Having already explained the symbology of Mā Chinnamastā in last year's talk to some extent, this year I want to focus on the theme of "decapitation" that we often see with forms of Mā. What does it really mean to be "decapitated"? But first, to lead up into our idea of decapitation, we present a few radical and thrilling ideas from the most idealistic, non-dual traditions of India: Vasubandhu's Yogācara Buddhism and Gaudapada's Ajāta Vāda as a kind of nod to the dizzying flights of Buddhist and Advaitic metaphysics! May this be an offering at the lotus feet of the Buddha, the sanest man who ever lived.May this be an offering to Mā Chinnamastā!Support the showLectures happen live every Monday at 7pm PST and Friday 10am PST and again Friday at 6pm PST.Use this link and I will see you there:https://www.zoom.us/j/7028380815For more videos, guided meditations and instruction and for access to our lecture library, visit me at:https://www.patreon.com/yogawithnishTo get in on the discussion and access various spiritual materials, join our Discord here: https://discord.gg/U8zKP8yMrM

Today is the holy day of Bagalāmukhī Jayanti, celebrating one of the fierce forms of Mā! We've been discussing the Mahāvidyās quite a lot over the years (here's a playlist of talks on them) but we haven't yet looked at the tantras together that prescribe their method of worship. As such, in this class, we look over the Bagalā Tantra from the Bengali compilation, Shaktapramodah (The Delight of Shaktas). But first, since this talk was given on May 1st, the anniversary day when Belur Math was founded at Balaram Bose's house in 1897, we first say a few things about that and talk about our mission to make that which is only known to a few available to all for the upliftment of all humanity! Here is the document we referenced in the class. It's a work in progress! Much editing and proof-reading awaits!Support the show

In this talk, we discuss the Matangī meditation mantra and present a simple worship of Matangi since the day before yesterday was her Jayanti (birthday). We were all of us recovering from our Atlanta adventure so I didn't get to write to you yesterday and wish you all a happy Akshaya Trititya; you were all in my heart!Akshaya Trititya is such an auspicious day combining so many important events that I think I'll say a few things about it in class today also before our practice. On this day:1. The day the first naga sadhu, Rishabha was fed2. Treta Yuga began3. Parashurama, the axe-wielding, angry avatar of Vishnu was born4. Ganga Mā first flowed down from heaven5. Shiva appointed Kubera the ruler of material prosperity6. Vyāsa begin composing the Mahabharata (with Ganesh taking dictation)7. Yudishtira received the Infinite Bowl (Akshaya patra)8. Parvati took the form of AnnapurnaAnd of course it's also the auspicious Jayanti of Matangī Mā! Worship of MātangīDraw a red downward pointing triangle in the North-East and then chant the Matangī meditation mantra:śavopari–samāsīnāṁ raktāmbaraparicchadām।raktālaṅkāra saṁyuktāṁ guñjāhāra vibhūṣitāma॥ṣoḍaśābdāṁ ca yuvatīṁ pīnonnatapayodharām।kapālakartṛkāhastāṁ paramajyotirūpiṇīm॥vāmadakṣiṇa yogena dhyāyenmantraviduttamam।īṣathāsya samāyuktāṁ nīlamegha samaprabhām॥Translation:The highest knower of the mantra (i.e the Tantrik adept) should meditate on this Goddess through the yoga of the Left and Right as follows:Seated on a corpse, dressed in red, adorned with red ornaments, garlanded in poisonous flowers/seeds, a young woman of sixteen with comely breasts, holding a sword and skull-bowl, whose form is the supreme light (of consciousness), endowed with a subtle smile, radiant like a storm cloud.Meditate on Mā, perform mental worship and then offer an already offered flower saying,OM jyeṣṭhamātaṅgi namāmi ucchiṣṭacaṇḍālini trailokyavaśaṅkari svāhāidaṁ nirmālyapuṣpādikam ucchiṣṭacaṇḍālinyai namaḥ ।Translation:To the eldest Mātaṅgī, I bow.To the fierce Ucchiṣṭa Caṇḍālinī—the outcaste goddess who sanctifies impurity, who enchants and subjugates the three worlds—I offer myself with these leftover flowers and all their fragrance.Svāhā!All this is offered to You, O Ucchiṣṭa Caṇḍālinī—salutations!"and then place some offered food on mandala saying:oṁ lehyacoṣyānnapānādi tāmbūlamanulepanam।nirmālyaṁ bhojanaṁ tubhyaṁ dadāmi śrīśivājñayā॥These foods and drinks as well as the tambulam and fragrant pastes that have already been touched by the tongue, this leftover (sullied) food I offer to you by the command of Lord Shiva!Lectures happen live every Monday at 7pm PST and Friday 10am PST and again Friday at 6pm PST.Use this link and I will see you there:https://www.zoom.us/j/7028380815For more videos, guided meditations and instruction and for access to our lecture library, visit me at:https://www.patreon.com/yogawithnishTo get in on the discussion and access various spiritual materials, join our Discord here: https://discord.gg/U8zKP8yMrMSupport the show
Australia joined global celebrations of Mahavira Jayanti with the observation of Navkar Mahamantra Diwas, highlighting the significance of the sacred chant in Jainism. Propelled by the Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO), the event was marked in cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also participated in the global celebrations. In this episode, JITO Australia founder chairman Bhupendra Sethia discusses the inspiration behind the initiative, while Ravindra Dholakia, a devotee, shares insights into the daily practices of a devout Jain.
This past weekend, on Saturday, we celebrated Tārā Jayanti. It felt very fitting to give a talk praising this enigmatic form of Mā! The first thing we do in this lecture is to distinguish the very popular Tibetan Buddhist deity, Tārā from the Tantrik Hindu version. We then trace the origins of the Tibetan Buddhist Tārā to Parā Devī, the esoteric Tantrik Sarasvatī who is the absolute conception of reality in the Trika System of Non-Dual Shaivism. As an aside, we track how elements of Parā's iconography is present in the meditation/visualization mantra for Abhinava Gupta, the Trika master par excellence. We show how elements of Dakshinamurthi Stotram are also present in the Abhinava Gupta visualization mantra and that of the Goddess Parā! Having established the link between Parā and the Tibetan Buddhist Tārā, and having made the case that this is a Saumya (gentle) form of the Tārā, we then turn to the Tantrik Hindu Tārā of the cremation ground which tends to emphasize the Ghora (fierce) aspects of the Deity. We explore Tārā's link to the Tantrik left-hand (Vāma-marga) and we also compare Mā Tārā to Mā Kālī to make the case that they really are the same Being. Naturally, we say something about Tārāpītha, Mā's sacred temple in a cremation ground in the Birbhum district of Wes Bengal and about Mā's empowered saint, Vama Khepa. We tell the story of Vāsistha and how he had to go to Tibet to learn the Kaula Marga or the Vāmachāra (left-hand path) from the Buddha and how this allowed him to succeed in Tārā-sādhana and establish the holy site of Tarapeeth in Bengal as a śākta-pītha! We really get up to some Tantrik stuff in this lecture! Thanks all for coming live. Jai Mā Tārā!PS: here is our playlist on all things daśa-mahāvidya!You'll find a complete playlist of introductory lectures on Tantra in both theory and practice here. For the auspicious occasion of the Kāla Bhairava Jayanti which also happens to be Mā Siddheśvarī Jayanti, we offer a rather free and somewhat loose translation of the Kāla Bhairavashtakam, the 8 Verses Praising Bhairava attributed to Sri Shankaracharya to explore some of the non-dual implications of certain phrases in the hymn. We make a few observations of Rāga Bhairava and how this hymn is connected to Mahishasura Mardini and also to Ravana, the famed antagonist of the Ramayana. We make some passing remarks about Abhinava Gupta's Bhairava Stava and also Kshemarāja's verse to Bhairava in his commentary on the Vijñāna-Bhairava Tantra. But most importantly, we talk about what it means to "pray". All prayer, all approaches to God are wonderful and valid, suiting different devotees of different temperaments who are all equally great! Having said that, I make a case for "self-less prayer" that cares for neither worldly nor even spiritual reward which I argue, can be accomplished through chanting hymns like the Kālabhairavāshtakam with fervor! Here's the hymn:कालभैरवाष्टकम्To him whose holy feet is worshipped by the king of the GodsWho wears a serpent as a sacrificial thread and who is adorned with the crescent moon, who is the giver of graceWho is praised by a retinue of yogis and sages like NāradaTo Him who is the Supreme Lord of the city of Kāshi, I offer my praise! To Him who is resplendent with the radiance of innumerable suns! Who is transcendent and who rescues us from the ocean of worldliness!Whose throat is blue and who is quick grant all wishes!Who is imperishable, the Death of Death with lotus eyes who upholds the three worlds with His trident! To Him who is the Supreme Lord of the city of Kāshi, I offer my praise! To Him who holds in His hands the trident, axe, noose and club! Who is the Primordial Cause of the Universe!Who is the imperishable void that is prior to all the Gods! Who is the Terrifying Lord who delights in the strange Tandava dance! To Him who is the Supreme Lord of the city of Kāshi, I offer my praise! To Him who gives both worldly happiness and final liberation! Whose form is most auspicious!Who loves his devotees! Who is the immovable Lord of the Worlds!Who is adorned with shining jingling golden bells around his waist! To Him who is the Supreme Lord of the city of Kāshi, I offer my praise! To Him who protects the bridge of Dharma and destroys the path of Adharma, Who destroys the fetters of Karma! Whose limbs are adorned with circles of golden serpents! To Him who is the Supreme Lord of the city of Kāshi, I offer my praise! To Him whose two feet are adorned with sandals studded with shining gemsWho is eternal, non-dual, who is the stainless and pure essence of all divinity!Who humbles death and liberates us! Who has terrifying fangs! To Him who is the Supreme Lord of the city of Kāshi, I offer my praise! To Him whose terrible laughter destroys the universe emanation forth from Brahma!Whose terrible glance rends asunder the net of illusion! Who bestows the eight occult powers, Who is garlanded in skulls! To Him who is the Supreme Lord of the city of Kāshi, I offer my praise! To Him who is the Lord of Ghosts! Who bestows great glory! Who frees all the residents of Kāshi from karmas good and bad!Who is the Lord of the Universe, the Ancient One and in the innermost guide in every being! To Him who is the Supreme Lord of the city of Kāshi, I offer my praise!Support the show

In episode 8, Julie talks to Ignacio Jayanti, CEO of private equity firm Corsair Capital, which spun out of J.P. Morgan Chase in 2006. Before that, Jayanti had been on the investment team of the predecessor Corsair funds and managed the operations of the business for almost a decade. Jayanti covers a lot of ground in this conversation, including how the model of private equity buyouts that took shape from about 2000 to 2021 depended on a growing number of potential PE acquirers for companies and a never-flagging IPO market where PE could cash in on investments. But he thinks that IPOs will remain “subdued” and that sweeping changes in the public markets since the early days of PE have added a lot of volatility and risk to this exit strategy. Private equity firms can no longer count on selling their companies to competitors either. That bit was founded on cheap money and constant deal making, says Jayanti. Money is no longer cheap — and deals have slowed dramatically. In particular, tune in to hear Jayanti's view of all that dry powder — commitments from investors — that has accumulated at private equity firms. That will “reach its end of life… some time over the next three years,” he says. The industry must be watching and trying to forecast what investors will do at that point. They have every right to walk away from unfunded commitments. And if they do the industry will contract dramatically. “I'm just highlighting the fact that there's a very long cycle and rhythm to this market of fundraising and deployment and exiting, which has been very significantly affected to the point where there could be a period of time where the next upturn is actually quite a bit further away in terms of aggregate market size. Ignacio touches on plenty of other topics as well, including a nuanced discussion about due diligence that you may not have heard before and the transformation that secondaries could kick off (in a good way.) Thanks for listening. And let me know what you think, what questions I didn't ask, and when I should have pressed for more. My email is open: jsegal@institutionalinvestor.com.

This talk was given on the sacred 8th day of the waning moon that just went by, which as you know, is not only Kālī Jayanti but also Krishnajanmasthami, the birthday of Kali-Krishna. And I am releasing this midnight on a new moon on Tuesday, the moon sacred day and time for worshipping Mā. This is a very special video to me because it makes many things that have been very secret for so long available to the viewing public. I trust that if you take up the practice and do it sincerely with no desire but to lose yourself in Her love, then She Herself will send a guru to guide you! Or rather, She Herself will appear in the form of the human guru, if such is needed (as I often recommend) or She will instruct you in dreams or from within. I want to make an offering to you, you who are Kālī embodied: may all of these words be red hibiscus flowers placed one by one and Your feet! This video should give you everything you need to worship Mā!Let's get to it: In the (often very secret) tradition of Kālī-kula (Kali worship), there is a hymn that captures the very essence of how Mā likes to be approached. This hymn details the mantra, the yantra and the form of Mā Kālī (specifically, Dakshina Kālī) that is to be meditated upon. More importantly, it stresses the bhāva, or mood in which to call upon Mother and some of the important elements of ritual worship that is enjoined by the Kali Tantra including animal and human sacrifice, cremation ground meditation and various other transgressive elements. We already gave a talk exploring this very excellent hymn to Kālī hereYou can read the hymn in Devanagri, Roman transliteration and a some other scripts here: https://stotranidhi.com/en/sri-kali-karpura-stotram-in-english/ The book that we reference for translations in this and the other video is "Hymn to Kālī" by Arthur Avalon and Swami Vimalananda. But before we discuss the hymn and the Kālī mantra, which is of course the main offering in this video, we say a few things about the similarities and differences between Kālī and Krishna. Happy New Moon! Jai MāSupport the Show.

Many people are concerned that AI is at present Conscious or will become Conscious at some point. And if so, will they turn then on their human overlords? Or worse, they might remain calm and continue to be helpful at which point we would have on our hands a huge ethical issue: forcing intelligent beings to do slave-like work without any compensation or protection? The problem with most conversations about AI and consciousness is that most of us them are premised on a very poor understanding of Consciousness, founded upon very shaky and outdated materialist reductionist foundations. So I thought let's just set the record straight by offering a few perspectives from Sāmkhya, Advaita Vedanta and Tantra to answer this most pressing of questions! On this very auspicious day of Raksha Bandhana, the day when we honor our brothers and sisters and siblings, I want to firstly say to each and every one of you, you who are my dear brothers, sisters, siblings: I love you immeasurably!Thank you.No words will express my reverence to you, you who are Goddess embodied!May all my words be so many flowers offered in devotion and surrender at your lotus feet!May these words be themselves like the thread that I wrap around your wrists! (Because today many siblings and friends will be tying a thread or amulet around each other's wrists to signify their bond and mutual protection of one another!)Also today's pūrnimā (full moon) is Hayagrīva Jayanti, when we celebrate that divine emanation of Godhead with the horse's head who returned the Vedas after they were stolen (I.e who revived the Vedas with his Tantrik transmission) and who revealed the secret names of Lalitāmbika to the sage Agastya in the Brahmananda Purana! He is the Tantrik Guru par excellence and so today, in the name of discussing the subtlest and most esoteric of Tantrik doctrines, I want to explore what I consider to be among the most profound ideas expressed which we find in aphorism in Vasugupta's Śiva Sūtra: drśyam śarīram, “the entire universe is your body.”We have been exploring Tantrik subtle anatomy together for some weeks now, discussing nādis, cakras, prāna, Kundalinī etc. But in the background of all of this is this profoundly radical notion of embodiment, a metaphysical claim about the true nature of our essential being that once heard, can grant enlightenment immediately! It is precisely this claim that we will explore today. But you know, I noticed there was a very thrilling discussion in the Discord the other night about Artifical Intelligence and its role in spiritual communities! Amanda Mā suggested I say something about Consciousness and AI and since I can never refuse her (especially not on Raksha Bandhana!) I've decided to name tonight's talk “is AI Conscious?” In answering this question from the Tantrik point of view, we can explore the aforementioned aphorism, drśyam śarīram!Lectures happen live every Monday at 7pm PST, Friday 10am PST and again Friday 6pm PST. Sādhanā, spiritual practie is an expression of your innate freedom and not some desperate attempt to attain it! Many people have such a sour face when they are sitting for meditation. How strange! Are you not meditating on the Divine Effulgence within? Are you not meditating on Bliss Itself embodied as your Ishta Devī, your chosen form of God? Shouldn't your face then be beaming with joy?! For many, spiritual life is a bitter struggle but that's only because we often approach things in the wrong way, founded upon a misunderstanding about why we are doing spiritual practice in the first place. In this talk, we offer a few ways to keep spiritual life fun, engaging and interesting so you can become increasingly absorbed in the endless joy of the life divine!PS: we gave this talk in Jayanti and Jayanta's beautiful home shrine in Zurich. Behind me you can seen Sarvesvarī Kālī who was awakened on the new moon (mahālaya) of the recent Chaitra Navaratri. May this talk be an offering at Her Lotus Feet.Jai Mā Sarveshvarī Kālī ki Jai!Lectures happen live on zoom every Monday at 7pm PST and Friday 10am PST and Friday at 6pm PST. This lecture was given on the exceedingly special day of Gāyatrī Jayanti, the day we celebrate not only the most important Goddess of the ancient Vedic tradition but also the most famous mantra to have ever come out of India. In this video, we make a few comments about caste in the Vedic world, the "twice-born" dīkshā into the Gāyatrī, the democratization and popularization of the mantra by reformers and of course gloss the mantra and its meaning along non-dual lines and make some Tantrik interpolations about it. ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वःतत्स॑वि॒तुर्वरे॑ण्यं॒भर्गो॑ दे॒वस्य॑ धमह।धियो॒ यो नः परचो॒दया॑त्॥oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥtat savitur vareṇyaṃbhargo devasya dhīmahidhiyo yo naḥ pracodayātṚgveda 03.062.10"OM I dissolve my intellect in my own Self, that Supreme Light, the splendour of all the gods in Whom arises the three worlds! About a month ago, we celebrated Dhūmāvatī Jayanti. Of the 10 esoteric forms of Kālī known as the Daśamahavidyās, Dhūmāvati, the widow is perhaps the most mysterious, misunderstood and feared of all the Tantrik Goddesses. She bears a striking resemblance to the Morrigan and the Cailleach in Gaelic/Celtic traditions and her dhyāna mantra (presented below) might remind you of the (albeit often somewhat cartoonish) caricature of the "witch" you find at department stores around Hallowe'en. No coincidence there! In this video, we talk all about this and more! Also: Before we gave our lecture on just who this mysterious Tantrik Goddess is and what she represents, we first went and performed her worship using her dhyāna mantra (presented below) in a guided meditation. You can practice that here. विवर्णकुन्तला रूक्षा विधवा विरलद्विजा ॥काकध्वजरथारूढा विलम्बितपयोधरा ।शूर्पहस्तातिरूक्षाक्षी धृतहस्ता वरान्विता ॥प्रवृद्धघोणा तु भृशं कुटिला कुटिलेक्षणा ।क्षुत्पिपासार्दिता नित्यं भयदा कलहप्रिया ॥Pale and restless, irritable and oldClad in soiled garmentsPale-haired, dry-skinnedA widow with few teethMounted atop a chariot whose flag is a crowWith drooping breasts and surpassingly cruel eyesWho holds a winnowing basketWho shows the boon bestowing gestureA crone with crooked nose and crooked eyesWho is always hungry and thirsty, quarrelsome and fearsome.Lectures happen live on zoom every Monday at 7pm PST and Friday 10am PST and Friday at 6pm PST. Jun 22,2024 Saturday : Morning : Sandhya GurubhaktiYog Kabeer Jayanti Par Jane Kabeerji Ke Upadesh
Today is Chinnamastā Jayanti and last week we had Bagalāmukhī Jayanti.Since both of these are fierce and very esoteric forms of Kālī, I thought I would take this occasion to discuss some of the "darker" aspects of our Tantrik heritage since both of these deities, as well as many of the other Daśamahāvidyās are associated with magical practices of um, let's say, a less than savory nature according to the views of some more right-leaning practitioners. And Bagalā Devī especially has a strong association to cults that practice black magic with the purpose of binding, stunning and confounding enemies. What's all that about? In this talk, I want to make a case for why we should accept those aspects of our tradition but also strongly suggest a more devotional reading of these mantras and these forms of the Goddess. We do this by discussing Bagalāmukhī's dhyāna-ślokas (her meditation mantras), her origin story as per some śakta upa-puranas, the practices associated to her cult of worship and most importantly a story from the life of Sārada Devī where she actually manifested her Bagalā aspect to smite Harish, a devotee who had gone crazy because of his wife's black magic! This lecture is part of a series on the daśamahāvidyās which you can watch hereLater today, Mā willing, I'll upload a lecture called "The Dark Side of Tantra" exploring this idea more fully but here is my first swipe at it! Jai Mā! Jai Pītāmbara-Devī Ki Jai!Lectures happen live on zoom every Monday at 7pm PST and Friday 10am PST and Friday at 6pm PST. There's Q&A right after the lectures. The day that we gave this lecture was an exceedingly important day: Akshaya Tritiya! Because the sun and moon are in very exalted positions and because of the association of this day to a series of auspicious events in Puranic Hinduism (the day Mā Ganga came down into the earth from the heavens, the day Vyāsa began dictating the Mahābhārata to Ganesh, the day Yudishthira received his unlimited food bowl, the day that Parvati appeared as Annapurna to feed everyone among other things), today is typically regarded as a great day to buy gold, begin new projects, embark on new ventures and most importantly, do spiritual practice. Whatever is started on this day while endure for a long time, if not forever and whatever spiritual practices are performed go extra hard and have a bigger impact in our lives. The TLDR of this is: it's max XP day, kula. But also what's especially important for us is that this day was also Mātangī Jayanti. So to honour the occasion, we decided to say a few things about Nīla Sarasvatī/Mātangī and the Daśamahavidyās as a whole as our humble prayer to the goddess in her auspicious Candāla form!Lectures happen live on zoom every Monday at 7pm PST and Friday 10am PST and Friday at 6pm PST. Today (May 10th 2024) at 3pm PST we're having a special Akshaya Tritiya puja on zoom followed by a Maha Mritunjaya and Candi recitation. We'll probably have the zoom room open form 3-7pm PST so feel free to drop in any time. After the puja and chanting, with whatever time we have remaining, we'll have a satsangh about Mātangi and the daśamahāvidyās, the ten forms of Devī.
