In this talk, we discuss the Matangī meditation mantra and present a simple worship of Matangi since the day before yesterday was her Jayanti (birthday). We were all of us recovering from our Atlanta adventure so I didn't get to write to you yesterday and wish you all a happy Akshaya Trititya; you were all in my heart!Akshaya Trititya is such an auspicious day combining so many important events that I think I'll say a few things about it in class today also before our practice. On this day:1. The day the first naga sadhu, Rishabha was fed2. Treta Yuga began3. Parashurama, the axe-wielding, angry avatar of Vishnu was born4. Ganga Mā first flowed down from heaven5. Shiva appointed Kubera the ruler of material prosperity6. Vyāsa begin composing the Mahabharata (with Ganesh taking dictation)7. Yudishtira received the Infinite Bowl (Akshaya patra)8. Parvati took the form of AnnapurnaAnd of course it's also the auspicious Jayanti of Matangī Mā! Worship of MātangīDraw a red downward pointing triangle in the North-East and then chant the Matangī meditation mantra:śavopari–samāsīnāṁ raktāmbaraparicchadām।raktālaṅkāra saṁyuktāṁ guñjāhāra vibhūṣitāma॥ṣoḍaśābdāṁ ca yuvatīṁ pīnonnatapayodharām।kapālakartṛkāhastāṁ paramajyotirūpiṇīm॥vāmadakṣiṇa yogena dhyāyenmantraviduttamam।īṣathāsya samāyuktāṁ nīlamegha samaprabhām॥Translation:The highest knower of the mantra (i.e the Tantrik adept) should meditate on this Goddess through the yoga of the Left and Right as follows:Seated on a corpse, dressed in red, adorned with red ornaments, garlanded in poisonous flowers/seeds, a young woman of sixteen with comely breasts, holding a sword and skull-bowl, whose form is the supreme light (of consciousness), endowed with a subtle smile, radiant like a storm cloud.Meditate on Mā, perform mental worship and then offer an already offered flower saying,OM jyeṣṭhamātaṅgi namāmi ucchiṣṭacaṇḍālini trailokyavaśaṅkari svāhāidaṁ nirmālyapuṣpādikam ucchiṣṭacaṇḍālinyai namaḥ ।Translation:To the eldest Mātaṅgī, I bow.To the fierce Ucchiṣṭa Caṇḍālinī—the outcaste goddess who sanctifies impurity, who enchants and subjugates the three worlds—I offer myself with these leftover flowers and all their fragrance.Svāhā!All this is offered to You, O Ucchiṣṭa Caṇḍālinī—salutations!"and then place some offered food on mandala saying:oṁ lehyacoṣyānnapānādi tāmbūlamanulepanam।nirmālyaṁ bhojanaṁ tubhyaṁ dadāmi śrīśivājñayā॥These foods and drinks as well as the tambulam and fragrant pastes that have already been touched by the tongue, this leftover (sullied) food I offer to you by the command of Lord Shiva!Lectures happen live every Monday at 7pm PST and Friday 10am PST and again Friday at 6pm PST.Use this link and I will see you there:https://www.zoom.us/j/7028380815For more videos, guided meditations and instruction and for access to our lecture library, visit me at:https://www.patreon.com/yogawithnishTo get in on the discussion and access various spiritual materials, join our Discord here: https://discord.gg/U8zKP8yMrMSupport the show

This week's episode guest is Tova Olsson who has been teaching yoga and meditation for nearly 20 years. She holds a MA in religious studies from the University of Gothenburg and is specialised in yogic and tantric traditions. She teaches the philosophy section of several yoga teacher trainings and is appreciated for her skills in storytelling and her ability to explain philosophical ideas in an approachable, embodied and humorous ways. She is currently working on her PhD at Umeå University in Sweden, researching the construction of gender in contemporary, European tantra. In this episode we speak about the Dasa Mahavidyas, the ten tantric wisdom goddesses, which Tova has an online course about. Dasa Maha Vidya means "Ten Great Wisdoms", depicted in classical tantric tradition as a group of, to say the least, macabre goddesses. Some of them, such as Kali and Tara, are quite well known, others, like Bagalamukhi and Matangi, are more obscure. But they all represent both stages of cosmic evolution and human spiritual development. Therefore, they can be called wisdom plateaus, cosmic forces as well as the faces of kundalini. For those interested in understanding nondual tantric philosophy, cosmology and the more esoteric aspects of the Shakta (goddess) tradition, her course offers an opportunity you don't want to miss! I decided to turn my pain into purpose. I started to share my faith on social media. I had numerous messages tell me that my faith and perseverance helped strengthen their own faith. My relationship and love for my Savior grew in ways that I don't think would have if I hadn't been suffering the way that I was. This pain wasn't something my closest loved ones could even begin to understand, but Jesus could. He knew.

Welcome back to the Record Report! This week, we're going overseas to hear a rebel's sound. We're talking about British artist M.I.A.'s 2013 Matangi to be exact. M.I.A's career was at a very weird period in the later part of the Blog Era. While the artist's diverse array of sound helped contribute to the early rise of international influence in the 2000s, her success also made her a target for controversy. Fortunately, Matangi was both a daring response to her criticism while still also managing to get people of different backgrounds to the dancefloor. In this episode, we choose our top three tracks, we talk about M.I.A's diverse musical connections to Hip Hop (maybe Baltimore Club Music), and talk how she's contributed to the rise of music across the globe in the modern era of music. Vance also talks about seeing Matangi up close at U Street Music Hall back when it first dropped in 2013. we also talk about what we're listening to, and horrorcore from a Brotha with a wild name. This week on the podcast Mikki speaks to Michelle Matangi, health and lifestyle coach and health coach in Taranaki, about her transformation of mind, body and attitude and how she uses what she has learned over the last 15 years to help other peopleMichelle shares how she found herself turning to food as a way to distract herself from things in her life that were uncomfortable or difficult to deal with, and how discovering Mark Sisson and Primal eating (a version of paleo) helped begin her path to ditching the dieting mentality and focused on nourishing herself - and it was a long (is a long) journey! She realised that it wasn't food or diet that would ultimately help her but actually she needed to be able to know herself and be kind to myself. She realises that people cannot live to their full potential when limited to other peoples rules and we chat about the resources she has used to help guide her over the last two decades which in turn she uses with her clients.https://www.michellematangi.com/https://www.instagram.com/michellematangi/Contact Mikki:https://mikkiwilliden.com/https://www.facebook.com/mikkiwillidennutritionhttps://www.instagram.com/mikkiwilliden/https://linktr.ee/mikkiwillidenSave 20% on all NuZest Products with the code MIKKI20 at www.nuzest.co.nzSave 30% on Hoka One One with the code TEAMMIKKI at www.Hoka.co.nz

On this episode of the podcast, I talk to Matangi, the resident "aunty" here on the podcast, and a first-generation Indian-American herself. Matangi was born in India, but she moved to the United States when she was five, and grew up all over the country from Memphis to Chico. Matangi details her experience growing up in a hyper-traditional household, the clash between the cultures, her rebellions, and most of all why she hates the term aunty. I have always wondered how South Asians have changed through the ages, and through this conversation, there is a lot of commonalities but quite a crazy amount of differences. On Christmas Day, a documentary film on the city of San Bernardino called Berdoo will premiere on YouTube. The film is the creation of Executive Producer Nishita Matangi, a graduate of Loma Linda University’s School of Public Health. She saw the need to tell the story of a resilient community working to help its youth overcome barriers to simply attending school. Matangi is originally from Northern California and said she first learned about San Bernardino when she made the decision to move there for graduate school. “I obviously Googled it and when I Googled it, you can imagine the things that came up," said Matangi. She saw headlines saying the city was the most unsafe place in California to live and other startling stats. During her program, a research project on the city’s school district continued to build on that negative narrative. She learned that nearly 18 percent of students chronically miss school. That’s higher than rates seen at the state and national level. “So with

Ruben and RyLee have been married for 7 years and have 3 beautiful girls ages 5 and under. Through navigating career choices, becoming new parents, four moves, and a baby being life flighted, RyLee has also dealt with chronic eczema from head to toe. With three tiny girls that depend on her during the day, life seemed suddenly unmanageable. Spending money on doctors appointments, treatments and answers to no avail, their marriage has been stretched and challenged. Ultimately, even though they are still in the depths of searching for answers regarding RyLee’s health, this trial has brought them closer as they continue to navigate this journey together.

Malakai Matangi's story is proof we can overcome anything. From a life of drugs, prison, and believing he was not good enough, Malakai now is on the best spiritual journey of his life. He shares how God changed his heart while being locked up in solitary confinement. He has been clean now for over 3 1/2 years and making a difference. You will be touch by his story and realize it's never too late to change for the better. #malakaipower #overcome #addiction #clean #love #spirit #God #sober #miracle #beliefcast #tsinspires
Have you ever followed your gut and regretted it? Or have you only regretted not following your gut? Following my gut feeling lead me to Michelle. We had never met and I had never looked into her journey but amongst multiple conversations with different friends and acquaintances I had a gravitation towards getting in contact with Michelle and get her to share her journey. Outer body experiences, the trapping feeling of traffic and a family history of mental health issues are the just the tip - there is a great big story here and Michelle doesn’t hold back. The power of unpacking your traumas is real in here. Michelle even offers an insight into meditation and how it can be a game changer to ones life.

Meet Jesal and Rochard. We are the Transatlantic Rebels. Follow us on our NEW Twitter: https://twitter.com/PodcastRebels Find us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TransatlanticRebels Episode 100 - awoohoo, we made it! - takes us back 9 months or so, as we finally get the opportunity to talk about the fascinating documentary "Matangi/Maya/M.I.A." (and it's safe to say we're both big fans). The circularity of this being our 100th show is particularly meaningful, considering we kicked off the Transatlantic Rebels Podcast by talking about all of Maya's albums! Let us know what you thought about this one - was it a fair representation of her story thus far by Steve Loveridge? @JesalTV is from the UK, and Rochard is from America. We like to talk in depth about albums, films, TV shows and books. @RochardScott has a background in TV, acting, writing and many other areas of art creation. That's it for festival season this year gang. Boy are we covering a whole bunch we got Jack Black in The Insufferable Groo, alpha predators that are also soft in Wolves Unleashed, paper planes with MATANGI MAYA M.I.A., gender equality directed by a man in This Changes Everything, the fucked up shit of The Cleaners.
In the wake of winning the Sundance Film Festival, MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. follows the extraordinary life of famous artist M.I.A. Jack, Paul and Zanoobia from Surge Factual and Culture discuss and review this documentary, lending their thoughts to the themes expressed throughout.
We have another minisode! Our lovely colleague Rosie recently interviewed the maker of new documentary MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A, Steve Loveridge. The film is an intimate look at the pop star who refuses to fit the mould and conform to stereotypes. Steve is a long term friend of M.I.A’s, and put together an outstanding piece of documentary film which also features extensive footage made by M.I.A herself, both in the UK and in Sri Lanka. The Cinema For All podcast is proud to be supported by the BFI, awarding funds from the National Lottery. HOSTS: Jaq Chell and Abi Standish GUESTS: Steve Loveridge PRODUCER: Jay Platt Thanks for listening! Please subscribe and rate and review our podcast – it really helps other listeners find us!
Drawn from a cache of personal video recordings from the past 22 years, director Steve Loveridge’s Sundance award winning MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. is a startlingly personal profile of the critically acclaimed artist, chronicling her remarkable journey from refugee immigrant to pop star. She began as Matangi. Daughter of the founder of Sri Lanka’s armed Tamil resistance, she hid from the government in the face of a vicious and bloody civil war. When her family fled to the UK, she became Maya, a precocious and creative immigrant teenager in London. Finally, the world met her as M.I.A. when she emerged on the global stage, having created a mashup, cut-and-paste identity that pulled from every corner of her journey along the way; a sonic sketchbook that blended Tamil politics, art school punk, hip-hop beats and the unwavering, ultra-confident voice of a burgeoning multicultural youth. Never one to compromise on her vision, Maya kept her camera rolling throughout. MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. provides unparalleled, intimate access to the artist in her battles with the music industry and mainstream media as her success and fame explodes, becoming one of the most recognizable, outspoken and provocative voices in music today. Director Steve Loveridge joins us to talk about his long-time friendship with https://www.miadocumentary.com/

LINKS MENTIONED IN EPISODE 108 - We’re LISTENER-SUPPORTED: - - - - - RELATED PODCAST: - - - - - - - - SECRET HEADLINE: - - - - HOMEMADE FULL FAT YOGURT by Dennis Bird I have heard Jimmy remark on numerous occasions on how hard it is to find full fat yogurt. I have a simple recipe for yogurt that can be as full fat as you want it to be. 1. Take 4 to 6 cups of whole milk (highest quality you can buy) 2. If you want a fuller fat recipe, substitute one cup or more of the milk with heavy cream 3. Heat the milk/cream to 180 degrees, stirring constantly and take off the burner. 4. Cool the mixture to 110 degrees then add 1/2 to 1 cup of room temperature unsweetened yogurt and mix. 5. poor the mixture into a glass or plastic container and seal with a lid. 6. Place the container in a water bath in a slow cooker with a programable temp guage set for 110 degrees. (if you don't have this type of slow cooker, I've heard you can turn on the light in your oven and set your yogurt inside and that will be about 110.) 7. Let it sit for 10 to 12 hours. Once the yogurt is solid you can put it in the fridge. 8. If you want a thicker yogurt, strain out the whey water using 4 layers of cheese cloth. I've done this recipe many times and it's amazing how easy it is and how good the yogurt is. I once did a batch with 4 cups of whole milk to 2 cups heavy cream. Once I strained it, it was a thick as cream cheese!
