First home buyers and low- to middle-income earners will be happy with recent changes to the Help to Buy scheme, making the financial burden of taking out a mortgage that little bit easier. This was the topic of discussion in this latest episode of Broker Daily Uncut, with Jack Campbell and Alex Whitlock. Also discussed was the recent payroll tax inquiry held at NSW Parliament. The outcome is up in the air but still has brokers heated as the implications could be severe for the industry.
The NSW Parliament hosted Holi celebrations, organised by the Consulate General of India in Sydney in partnership with the Australia India Business Council (AIBC) and the NSW Parliamentary Friends of India. The event, which brought together parliamentarians and business leaders, discussed how cultural understanding is crucial in addressing community-specific challenges and driving innovative trade solutions. Such celebrations not only strengthen India-Australia ties but also contribute to deeper economic collaboration.

You will hear:A 16 year old girl tearful about the cruel future we are creating. A 90 year old woman who kayaked out fpour times into the shipping lanes and was disappointed that the police just kept towing her back.Sunday began with a Maori climate warrior taking us up a notch with the haka.Julie Fraser a unionist from Darwin speaks about a shift in priorities from subsidising coal exports, to supporting the care sector in all its forms. Zack Schofield the media spokesperson from Rising Tide deftly handled "gotcha" questions from the media asserting that surely an industry that ruins a safe climate for future generation is criminal. Two intrepid knitting nanas who have locked themselves on to logging machinery because saving the forests is climate action, tell us a circus story. It features Barnaby Joyce, Tanya Plibersek and Anthony Albanese with a tiny wind turbine and a giant submarine stuffed down his pants. As in all circus acts there is a tight rope and in this case "the tightrope of our future" is navigated by a two year old child, her mother and grandmother. Bev Smiles from Mudgee Coal Alert speaks about how coal mine expansions will endanger the underground water resource. Bob Brown once called Bev a true patriot and a national treasure as she keeps up the battle against the mining giants. Here she is speaking to NSW Parliament.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxXNePCX3EcIf you are inspired by these voices and would like to get involved : https://www.risingtide.org.au/
Independent Jacqui Scruby is set to become the first teal MP in the NSW parliament, with the candidate on track to snatch the Sydney Northern Beaches seat of Pittwater. It is being projected Ms Scruby will win after a 6 per cent swing against Liberal candidate Georgia Ryburn in the traditionally blue-ribbon electorate. However, the Liberals formed better in the other two Super Saturday ‘by-election' contests, retaining the seats of Hornsby and Epping. Meanwhile, ACT Labor leader Andrew Barr has won his third election as chief minister and will again govern in coalition with the Greens. In this episode I discuss the great outcome we were able to achieve in NSW Parliament yesterday.
GUEST OVERVIEW: Bao Huynh is a Research Fellow at the Monash University Centre for Youth Policy and Education Practice. GUEST OVERVIEW: The Hon. (Rod) Rodney John Roberts, MLC is Deputy President and Chair of Committees Independent Member of the Legislative Council, NSW Parliament
GUEST 1 OVERVIEW: Amber Pedersen's family's multigenerational lifestyle property is located in Yarrabin near Mudgee, NSW. Amber became aware of Ark Energy (Korea Zinc)'s Burrendong Wind Farm proposal, which includes several 250m high turbines towering up to 670m above the level of their house. The proposal also involves conservation-zoned land and koala habitat—Burrendong is an Aboriginal word for koala. Initially, Amber and her neighbors started Burrendong SOS (Save Our Surroundings) through local letterbox drops, which now comprises over 70 landowners, residents, and farmers, representing over 200 family members. Amber discovered that their property is within the 20,000 sq km Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone, forcing families, farmers, and animals to live within a "modern-day power station" without their knowledge or consent. She joined forces with and became co-secretary of Central West REZist Inc. With several active wind energy proposals and a hydro dam battery proposal on drought-prone land surrounding their property—mostly proposed by foreign-owned multinationals—Amber has taken further action. She helps unite community groups across Australia as an active member of the National Rational Energy Network, holding protests in Tamworth, Sydney, Canberra, and recently at the Dee Why Energy & Environment Forum. GUEST 2 OVERVIEW: Hon Mark Banasiak MLC, a former teacher, was elected to NSW Parliament in 2019, representing the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party. Mark is also the Chair of the Federation of Hunting Clubs, which is one of the peak bodies representing the Shooters and hunting clubs in New South Wales.

Tonight, the campfire crew are joined by Roy Butler MP, member for Barwon in the NSW Parliament. With a patch covering over 44% of the State, Roy spends most of his time cross crossing the district to meet with constituents about the issues, challenges and opportunities affecting Barwon. Around the campfire the guys cover off on a wide range of topics from politics, the supposed extinction of kangaroos, the genius of rewilding dairy cattle, hunting, shooting, rifle and gun collections. Though for Mark there is a whole lot of reminiscing about road tripping with the family through far west New South Wales…

Amanda Penrose Hart is an artist, represented by King Street Gallery, Sydney, Phillp Bacon in Brisbane and Yallingup Gallery in WA. Thanks for talking to us and for the wonderful lunch at your place! 'Brisbane born artist Amanda Penrose Hart is predominantly a landscape painter. Penrose Hart graduated from Queensland College of Art in 1983 with a Diploma of Fine Art, and then again from Griffith University in 1991, with a Bachelor of Visual Arts.Travelling, and en plein air practice is intrinsic to Amanda's work; she extrapolates the significance of a place through her work. Dr Andrew Frost suggests she evokes a familiarity with landscapes unseen, by connecting the audiences personal experience with her interpretations of (to date) Australian and European landscapes.Penrose Hart has featured in numerous selective group exhibitions, more often than not following artist trip's or artist-run projects such as Your Friend the Enemy, and Salient (both commemorative exhibitions of the Great War), and River on the Brink: Inside the Murray Darling Basin, which aimed to raise awareness for the impacts of drought and climate change in Australia.Amanda won the Gallipoli Art Prize in 2017 and the Clayton Utz Award in 2019. Amanda has also been a finalist in the Tattersalls Landscape Prize, Kings School Art Prize, the Salon des Refusés and NSW Parliament en Plein air, as well as the Portia Geach Memorial Award, the Kedumba Drawing Award, Muswellbrook Art Prize, and the Kilgour Art Prize.' - Amandas website

*Content Warning: This episode of Doin' Time contains graphic audio images and descriptions of Aboriginal and Torres-Strait Islander people who have died, and of deaths in custody. This is the second part of the TJ Hickey commemoration, where Marisa begins the program by giving background on continued attempts by NSW police to weaken and subdue TJ's family, with claims that his death was merely an accident. She sends a message of support and strength. Before reporting on last week's rally, however, Marisa starts by interviewing Paddy Gibson, Anti-Racist Activist based in Sydney. He discusses the February 6 sentencing of the Neo-Nazi extremist who plead guilty to his part in attacking Paddy's suburban home 2021 — 2 years with a nonparole period of 18 months. Paddy gives background to why he has been a target of harrassment, facism in general, and also far-reaching issues in regards to homeless first nations people attacked and harrassed in NSW. For the second part of the program, Marisa is joined by Raul Bassi from the Indigenous Social Justice Association (ISJA) Sydney, who attended the rally on Feb 14, for the 19th anniversary of TJ Hickey's passing. He provides background for the rally, and the injustice of the racist system where, despite the petiton with 14,000 signatures presented to NSW Parliament for a full independent inquiry into TJ's death, it was determined that police were never responsible, and there was no appropriate outcome or inquest. He gives listeners a report on this year's rally, comparing and contrasting it with previous anniversary rallies, and how to keep important issues active, with plans for TJ's memorial plaque and more. The struggle continues.

However, the government and opposition ignored their pleas and voted against a disallowance motion to their harsh new anti protest laws.No wonder then that non violent disruptive action seems to be the only way to stop our system fuelling more climate disruption. We interview some of the Blockade Australia people who have come from all over the country to Sydney, where colonisation began and where the extractive and destructive system is most clearly seen. One person, whose own life has been disrupted by the Lismore floods, Mali, said as a man swore and shouted at her, and she was locked into a car blocking a tunnel, "To this man I would say I stand with you. It is for you, it is for your family that we do this. It's for everyone, people we love, that we take this stand. It is for all of us that we need our life support systems."Meanwhile climate events are disrupting the traffic, with flooded roads and landslides on rail tracks. What would it take for the parliament to send its hellicopters and dog squads to arrest the real climate criminals? To charge them with disrupting the traffic. To charge them with the massive costs they are inflicting on our homes and crops. To connect their profitable coal oil and gas export, their landclearing and their global supply chains with the over heated oceans turbo charging the flooding rains?Blockadia is making this thinkable, when will it be possible?https://theconversation.com/blockadia-helped-cancel-the-keystone-xl-pipeline-and-could-change-mainstream-environmentalism-155276We talk to the blockaders and to Sue Higginson lawyer and member of NSW Parliament. You can read Sue's full speech in parliament (above) As there were so few MPs in the room and they can not have been moved by her words we are broadcasting it to a larger audience. As a Zenadeth Kes man from the Torres Strait he knows the real effects of our continued inaction. It was an energetic and ardent meeting strongly connecting the profits made from fossil fuels with the devastation caused to people. #People before profits. In Sydney's Daily Telegraph for 25th March The IPA's Dr Bella D'Abrera called the strike "Outrageous"....." The National curriculum not only tells children that it's wrong to question climate change but it also wants to turn them into left wing activists"....... "It's a damning indictment of our education system that children genuinely believe that Australian Government policy will make a difference to the world's climate".We also briefly hear from the court case Juliana v United States featured in the film "Youth V Gov. Renknowned Environmental lawyer Gus Speth says " This huge failure to rise to the moment, I think it's the greatest dereliction of civic duty in the history of the republic". Take note Sussan Ley. As I send this programme to community radio 3cr and Skid Row, a second huge emergency has been declared in the Northern Rivers of NSW, Lismore region. Instead of our show on the latest IPCC report, we are broadcasting, with permission, a brilliant interview which really takes you there.Sue Higginson, former head of the EDO is also a Lismore local and farmer. She is deeply aware of the connections between this devastation and the ongoing permits for coal oil and gas which turbo charge it. She tells about the heroism of this community which has a strong tradition of looking after each other. Sue comments on the DUTY ofCARE court case brought by young people against the minister for the environment. Now Sue is going to the NSW Parliament to transform the laws.
