In this episode, we dive into the wildly absurd world of "Kung Pow: Enter the Fist," a film that flips the traditional martial arts genre on its head. Directed by and starring Steve Oedekerk, this 2002 comedy uses a unique blend of old footage and new scenes to create a parody that's as bizarre as it is hilarious. We'll explore how the film mocks the tropes of 1970s kung fu movies with its deliberately poor dubbing, over-the-top characters, and ludicrous plot twists. Join us as we discuss the film's comedic approach, its polarizing reception, and why "Kung Pow" has earned a cult following for its unapologetic dive into cinematic silliness. Whether you're a fan of martial arts movies, parodies, or just love a good laugh, this episode promises a fun and insightful look at a film that dares to be different.
In this episode we recap what we did over the week. We then talk about the Park Fire which has engulfed nearly 7,000 more acres with on 30 percent containment. We then talk local music as Kevlar P.I. and K. Pizzle as they drop "Kung Pow 3." We conclude the podcast talking the 2024 Olympics. Be sure to support all your local businesses, artists, and podcasts. Have a blazing week!

We're back at you with one of the strangest things we've covered so far (and that's saying something), from the mind of Kung Pow's Steve Oedekerk we have High Strung, a Bill Hicks style rant film where Jim Carrey plays the Grim Reaper. You think that sounds entertaining? Well you're wrong, its not. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We didn't 100% just redo the movie, but close--a banger banged so hard Dylan konked out! lol

David and Justus take a trip to Hong Kong on a quest to study the ancient art of kung fu movies, starting their journey with Wilson Yip's Ip Man. Along the way, they will face many trials and foes, including Jeffrey Dahmer's taste in horror movies, the merciless vengeance of Lorraine Bobbitt, David's unavoidable impulse to quote Kung Pow! Enter the Fist, Donnie Yen's insane punch combos, a Japanese colonel who just can't help but shoot every character that minorly inconveniences him and — most challenging of all— the worst movie kid they've encountered so far. Can our heroes survive this gauntlet and become grandmasters? Step into the arena and find out this week on the Greatest Movie Ever Made! Ip Man (2008) is directed by Wilson Yip and stars Donnie Yen, Simon Yam, Lynn Hung, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi and Lam Ka-tung. Music: “Fractals” by Kyle Casey and White Bat Audio
Big announcement this week, as the podcast was named the Best Movie and Comic Podcast of 2023 by New World Report; while it's just a ploy to get money out of websites and podcast, we'll ride it as far as we can go with it. We talk about Jay's trip to see Tech N9ne, Hollywood Undead, and King ISO, Daredevil: Born Again news, Invincible news, Star Wars rumors, and the announcement that Sting is retiring from wrestling. We then hit on the news items from NYCC, including new Ultimate Comics from Marvel, the return of Elseworld books from DC, and poop on the floor. We finish with homework, including the Last Starfighter, Mission Impossible, Kung Pow, Spectre, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Meg 1 and 2, The Woods, The Magic Order, X-Men, Justice Society of America, and a final talk about All Of The Marvels. This week's featured beers were Third Wheel Brewing's Hip Hop Shuffle Vol 7 and Shortleaf Brewing's No Wake West Coast IPA. This week's featured song was "Carousel" from For Closure. You can find them at: Instagram | Facebook The intro music was The Mad Dog Remix of The Other Side by the Red Hot Chili Peppers; it was created by Madelyn Tierney. Check us out at our website and on social media.

This week, we review the 2002 martial arts comedy spoof, "Kung Pow! Enter the Fist." Writer, director, and star, Steve Oedekerk inserts himself, his computer-generated super tongue, a few other characters, and an out-of-sync voice track, into the action or the 1976 kung-fu classic (I assume), "Savage Killers," also known as "Tiger & Crane Fists." This is the movie mentioned several times by Dave T. & Todd as being the comedy that exhausted them from laughing, twice before when they were younger. This was the big experiment. Did it hold up, two decades later? And, what did Dave S. & Andruw think about it, seeing it for the first time? This is also the first time the four co-hosts have watched a movie together since "Black Widow" in the theater last summer. - Which co-host recommended this movie to drug-users (*but* did *not* endorse drug use itself)? - Which character's traits annoyed one co-host? - What bodily function did one co-host use to categorize this movie? - Was cinematography pronounced correctly this week? - Which TV show did one co-host compare this movie to? - Which co-host defended the character development that occurred in the movie? - What was the deal with Tonguey? - And, how many corny jokes did the four co-hosts cram into 44 seconds in the 2nd half of the episode. Listen now for the answers to these and other moo-ving questions. Grab your trusty dog, critter nunchucks, mystical pyramids, and dairy pail, as we experience the KICK! PUNCH! COW!...of "Kung Pow!" Thanks for joining our weekly show where we talk about all of the random films our listeners suggest for us! This week's movie is the 2002 film Kung Pow!!! It's a spoof of the 1976 Hong Kong karate flick "Savage Killers". 'A rough-around-the-edges martial arts master seeks revenge for his parent's death.' Be sure to check out our website for pictures, videos, and timestamps that we reference in the episode. Join Jeremiah and Luke as they fight their way through this incredibly bad (or good?) kung fu spoof: Kung Pow! Enter the Fist!
Kung Pow!! The movie that is a parody unto itself. The brainchild of Steve Oedekerk (Ace Ventura, Cowboys Vs. Aliens and more!) brings us this odd creation that he wrote, directed and starred in. Also, you get a Song of the Week brought to you by Stephen Christian (lead singer of Anberlin) whose Album "Wildfires" is available everywhere! Join Producer Phil and Jack as they talk Kung Pow: Enter the Fist! Only on The Horrible Movie Podcast!
