When Michael and Rob (Varnish Media) set out build this podcast, the alliterative "Michael in the Middle" just had a nice ring to it. Now the phrase has become a working brand and a way of life. As Season 2 begins with Episode 41, Michael takes a look back at some significant excerpts from five of the episodes shared in the last half of the inaugural year. A doctor, a couple of preachers, a couple of singers, a songwriter, and a play-by-play college football announcer each demonstrate a commitment to excellence and a commitment to love. With our world spinning outwardly and away from each other, maybe Diamond Rio had it right again with "we gain a lot of ground when we both give a little... Ain't no road too long when we meet in the middle."

One of the interesting things about doing something for a long time is the subtle changes that happen in focus and style, how something begins rough and wobley and smoothes out under pressure and time to be gentler with a strong unique and singular identity. In this episode, I speak with several seasoned songwriters, musicians and artists who all share this in their stories about their work and process. We feature interviews and performances by Emily Herring, Daniel Thomas Phipps, and Todd Deathrage, along with conversations with artists Allison Geneser and Lindsey Dickson. We also have a special tribute to Joe Burks.Plus, stay tuned for events happening in 78644 from June 30-July 14th.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/78644/exclusive-content

God Can Defend Himself. We're called to love, not win arguments.
Leave it to Christy and AT to tie it in with a 90s country song! But it's the truth: "Ain't no road too long when we meet in the middle." Both of today's guests give us different sides of the same coin -- the next generation entering the workforce! College students (aka Gen Z) are entering the workforce, and just like their predecessors (aka the Millennials, Gen Xers, and Boomers), their expectations are unique! Hear from New Memphis intern, Logan Waters, on his college experience, building connections, and getting comfortable being uncomfortable. Then, Shelly Gilmore of Peer Power stops by to share their mentoring model creating impact + shifts she's seeing in HR as Gen Z re-writes the script on what's possible.

Today I am sharing a discussion I had with my friend and collaborator Toby Davis. Toby is the host of the podcast “Truth in Dialogue with Toby Davis” and is a volunteer for the UnityNow! podcast, a project with which I'm also involved. For UnityNow!, Toby is one of our two team leads and is also one of the hosts in our host rotation. UnityNow! is a podcast that, as you'll hear soon, is all about the Unity movement. Started in July of 2020, the Unity movement was a last-minute attempt to get a liberal and conservative on the ballot for the 2020 presidential election, running as team. The movement, started by evolutionary biologist Bret Weinstein, was created to bring better representation back into American politics. Essentially, it was an attempt to bring people together in a country where people seem to be dividing at an alarming rate. The plan for 2020 didn't work, but our efforts continue. This bringing together of the political left and right is why I wanted to have Toby on this show. Toby is on the right, I am on the left and in this episode, I think we do a great job of meeting in the middle. I think that's all that really needs to be said as preview. I hope you enjoy this conversation and find it useful.Truth in Dialogue with Toby Davis: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMep_kMwucKSMdL2vV87odgToby Davis on Twitter: https://twitter.com/TobyD54Articles of Unity website: https://articlesofunity.orgUnityNow! Has there ever been such a generation gap as the one we're experiencing today? Let's face it; not all old people are crusty and boring just as not all young people are snowflakes and entitled. The vibrancy, the energy and the potential of the youth is intoxicating. Unfortunately, some older people have forgotten this and need the youth to remind them of what they've lost sight of. The youth seeks the answers (wisdom) that older people seem to have created through a lifetime of experience. Having an open dialogue of communication between the generations could only serve to bring a greater sense of community which seemingly leads to a life worth living.
