Meet Melanie (Germany). Back in 2015, Esmat (Iran) came to Germany as a refugee, and that's when their story started. But the real special part of their love story began a few years later when she found out she was going to be a mom. That's when things really took off! Over the last few years, they've faced and overcome a bunch of challenges together. One big challenge was dealing with stereotypes and people making assumptions about them. Almost every couple from different cultures goes through this – dealing with not-so-nice comments about where they're from or how they look. Melanie, though, she's super open on social media. She shares her ups and downs and how she handles the negativity. As time passed, she became really confident in herself. With the strong trust between her and Esmat, and the happy life they've built, those mean comments? They don't bother her anymore. Instead of letting it get to her, she decided to take a stand in her own cool way – with lots of humor! It's like she turned those bad vibes into something good. And honestly, that's pretty darn awesome and inspiring. During a heartfelt conversation, Mahmood earnestly tried to convince the Sheik while Brune remained in the dark, unaware of the unfolding drama for two long hours. Following this unforeseen twist, their journey to bridge the distance between them was not an easy one. They made the bold decision to move to Oman, hoping to pave the way for Mahmood's eventual relocation to France. It proved to be a challenging process that took several months to sort out all the necessary arrangements. We'll explore how they navigated through these hurdles and the incredible efforts they put in to reach where they stand today. You won't want to miss out on this inspiring tale of love, perseverance, and the triumph of the human spirit! Meet Brune (France) and Mahmood (Yemen). They met through an app during COVID, randomly connecting around the world. Their calls piled up, and they fell for each other. But when they tried to see each other for the first time, it was not easy at all: Yemen's war and cultural differences made it tricky. And adding to this Brune's family was accepting, but Mahmood's mom was hesitant. Eventually, they met in Oman, a dangerous journey through war zones. Nowadays, Yemen is divided between the north and south, and crossing borders is risky. But Brune and Mahmood braved it all. Listen to their full story and how they have managed all those hurdles. In this podcast episode, Julie, a French woman living in Singapore, and Sykes, a Filipino living in Manila, share their story of how they met in the Philippines. Julie was in Manila for an internship when she met Sykes at a co-working space where they both worked. They started as friends, bonding over cultural experiences like visiting churches during Holy Week. They discovered differences in dating customs between the French and Filipino cultures, where the French tend to transition from friendship to a relationship more quickly. Despite knowing that their time together would be limited due to Julie's departure, they decided to pursue a long-distance relationship, believing in their eventual reunion. However, they had no idea it would take 3.5 years for them to see each other again. In their conversation, Sykes and Julie discuss the contrasting work ethic, societal expectations, and lifestyle in the Philippines and France. The Philippines has a competitive and grinding mindset influenced by American culture, with an emphasis on fighting for rights and opportunities. On the other hand, France values work-life balance and enjoyment. They also touch on the challenges they face due to visa restrictions and the difficulties of finding employment in Singapore. Looking to the future, they share their plans of living together and exploring opportunities in Spain to obtain dual citizenship. Their ultimate goal is to solidify their commitment to each other over the next five years.
