Update: After a round of steroids from my doctor, I think this 30+ days of cough is finally behind me. Old time radio oracles take center stage in this week's mysteries. First, Jeff Regan tries to protect a mind reader who's been marked for death. Jack Webb stars in "The House by the Sea" (originally aired on CBS on November 4, 1948). Then, Randy Stone comes to the aid of a carnival mentalist driven mad by a mysterious question. Frank Lovejoy stars in the Night Beat episode known as "Mentallo, the Mental Marvel" (originally aired on NBC on May 1, 1950). Finally, Ronald Colman stars in one of my favorite Suspense episodes as a nightclub psychic who discovers his act isn't a fake anymore. We'll hear "A Vision of Death" (originally aired on CBS on March 8, 1951).
Episode 13 aired May 1, 1950. Let's listen to Frank Lovejoy as Randy Stone, night beat reporter for the Chicago Star, as his nightly wanderings through the city find him at a summer carnival and the unexpected goings-on involving “Mentallo, the Mental Marvel".

Don't Cry For Me Latveria Hello, and welcome to episode 253 of The Fantasticast. Each week, Steve Lacey and Andy Leyland guide you through every issue, guest-appearance and cameo of The Fantastic Four. This week, we're delving into the realms of the 1970s conspiracy thriller, as a technical wizard, a mesmeric master, and a mind-controlled zombie cyborg from an alternate future ripped from his own time come together to try and assassinate President Jimmy Carter at the moment of his inauguration. Yes, it's our coverage of Marvel Two-in-One #27 - Day Of The Demolisher! Marv Wolfman, Ron Wilson, and Pablo Marcos come together to put the Fantastic Four (and friends) against The Fixer, Mentallo, and Deathlok the Demolisher. We also get to experience a naked inauguration, and ask the all-important question: Who's crapper? Deathlok or Cyborg Superman? The Logistics of SHIELD Pizza Hello, and welcome to episode 251 of The Fantasticast. Each week, Steve Lacey and Andy Leyland guide you through every issue, guest-appearance and cameo of The Fantastic Four. This week, we're tackling two mighty Marvel tales. In the first, Marvel Two-in-One #26, a pizza date with Nick Fury turns into a fight against a mesmeric master and a future Thunderbolt for Ben Grimm. Mentallo and The Fixer are back, the world will never be the same again, and neither will a certain refugee from Earth-7484. Then we're off into Earth-774 to revisit the history of The Incredible Hulk in What If? #2 - What If The Hulk Had The Brain Of Bruce Banner? This questions leads to the permanent cure of Ben Grimm, the abandonment of mutant rights, and the non-destruction of Earth, proving that the series just doesn't know its own tropes. It is all about the firsts. This is the first episode of 3rd Degree Byrne for 2017. And Tim Elliott and Brian Hughes want to bring you a year of firsts. So, every episode of 3rd Degree Byrne proper (throwing in the “proper” there allows us to have those side episodes that break the theme if need be.) that we put out will be a “first” of sorts. Most will be obvious what kind of first they are, while others, not so much. Our latest episode is about the first issue of John Byrnes Superman series. Superman, Volume 2, Number 1. There are a number of firsts here as well: The first Byrne/Austin pairing at DC! The first Post-Crisis appearance of Metallo! The first “date” between Lois and Clark! The first post-crisis appearance of Lex Luthors bald head! And the first post-crisis use of the term “Kryptonite”. Yes, there are a lot of firsts here. So the question is: Who is going to be the first Byrneout to provide us feedback?Feedback for this show can be sent to: gottagetbyrned@gmail.com3rd Degree Byrne is proud to be part of the TwoTrueFreaks Internet Radio Network http://twotruefreaks.com/main.php Two True Freaks! is a proud member of BOTH the Comics Podcast Network(http://www.comicspodcasts.com/) and the League of Comic Book Podcasts(http://www.comicbooknoise.com/league/)!! On this episode Andy and Derek turn their critical sites on the work of Grant Morrison. Joining them in the discussion is Marc Singer, the author of Grant Morrison: Combining the Worlds of Contemporary Comics. Although much of the talk revolves around Morrison's non-superhero work - e.g., The Invisibles, The Filth, Seaguy, Flex Mentallo, We3, Sebastian O, The Mystery Play, and Happy! - Derek, Andy, and Marc bring into their discussion titles such as Arkham Asylum, Batman Gothic, Final Crisis, JLA, New X-Men, and Morrison's recent run on Action Comics. So whether you are a diehard superhero fan, or your tastes run more to alternative or non-mainstream comics, you'll definitely find this an episode worth listening to.
