The next Mitsubishi Triton (called the L200 in other markets) will look like a Triton, but it will be a Nissan Navara under the skin. The Navarafication of Triton is a disaster for Mitsubishi (and Triton aficionados - of which I am one) and in fact the Tritonification of Navara is a far superior concept with nothing but upside for Navara (not to mention Triton) - but never underestimate the gross stupidity of large organisations. Joseph then talks about more rumours surrounding the Toyota GT86 gen2. Mitch then briefly talks about Nissan reportedly putting a twin-turbo V6 in the next-gen Zed car. The Triton is number three 4x4 ute in the country behind the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger, but is ahead of the Holden Colorado. Since the Triton began production 40 years ago they’ve managed to sell 4.7 million units. It’s a profound automotive success any way you carve that figure. The first thing about Triton is its nice, tractable 2.4-lite turbo diesel engine Pricing and features make the Triton worth a good look, as does the long warranty and extended service interval. I get complaints about plenty of utes, from owners getting hung out to dry - typically Rangers and Colorados. Triton is the exact opposite. The few complaints I've had over Triton in the past few years were mainly dealers behaving badly - once they were made aware, Mitsubishi Motors resolved them pretty quickly.

We're back for episode 73! This week starts off the rails immediately, with our return special guest Ben asking us what our favourite car-themed movies are, which insights some lively discussion about car movies. After 11 minutes, we finally move onto some news. We start off with a bit of news about Volkswagen's passenger vehicles no longer having manuals, including their performance range. We then talk about HSV's second go at the Colorado; the HSV Sportscat R. The Sportscat R features some red decals, pumped guards and hood, but no performance improvements.
