When Ford refreshes an icon like the Explorer, we pay attention. The 2025 Explorer Active arrives as the sixth generation of this staple American SUV, refined with subtle but meaningful updates that enhance the driving experience without sacrificing what loyal fans love about the model.Behind the wheel of this Chicago-assembled standard SUV, we immediately noticed the responsive 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine delivering 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque through a smooth 10-speed automatic transmission. The wide power band provides confident acceleration when merging or passing, while returning a respectable 21.5 MPG over our 451-mile test drive. With a towing capacity of 5,300 pounds, it balances everyday drivability with weekend adventure capabilities. The Explorer's interior shows Ford's commitment to modern technology and comfort. The cockpit features a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster paired with an all-new 13.2-inch touchscreen housing infotainment, navigation, and vehicle controls. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come standard, with USB-C ports available for all three rows. Our test model's six-passenger configuration included bucket seats in both first and second rows, with a compact third row best suited for children or smaller adults. At $48,520 as tested, the Explorer positions itself slightly above competitors like the Kia Telluride, Mazda CX-90, and Hyundai Palisade, betting that its blend of technology, power, and refinement justifies the premium. Whether you're considering an SUV upgrade or simply curious about what's new in the segment, the Explorer demonstrates how an established model can continue to evolve while maintaining its core appeal. Experience the difference yourself with a test drive at your local Ford dealership.Be sure to subscribe for more In Wheel Time Car Talk! The Lupe' Tortilla RestaurantsLupe Tortilla in Katy, Texas Gulf Coast Auto ShieldPaint protection, tint, and more!Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. From why every lead deserves your best to the eternal debate of captive vs. independent, Patrick offers a balanced and insightful take. They talk numbers, client education, consistency, and why sometimes value beats price—even if it's about a Hyundai Palisade. Tune in for a real, practical, and powerful conversation for producers looking to level up.
Straight from the Trader Joe's parking lot, Kelly and Lizz are ready to break down the trauma from that experience. Why is it that Trader Joe's always picks locations with the worst parking lots? It made Lizz break into a sweat, which was luckily controlled by non-natural deodorant. She's giving up all-natural deodorant and she isn't afraid to talk about it. Kelly has Driveway Dumps that includes the Instagram account she is currently obsessed with - @theloseitlog. But they also must talk about the TikToker that lost a ton of weight and her fans are not happy about it. Does she deserve all the hate? Speaking of a healthy lifestyle, Kelly's garage workouts are going great! Oh, and she caught a little baby fever. Will it pass? It's time for Kelly and Lizz to talk about something that has the whole internet buzzing - the 2026 Hyundai Palisade redesign! Now that we have a full look at it, what are Kelly and Lizz's thoughts? Could this be an early contender for the Car Mom Car of the Year? Plus, their predictions on what the new Kia Telluride might look like and Kelly's next tester car. Lizz went for her first facial post baby, something she used to enjoy immensely. So why did she find herself now hating the experience? Speaking of self-care, Kelly is looking into getting an at-home spray tanner so Tyler can give her a spray tan when she needs one. But can he be trusted when he spent $70 on a mani and pedi for their daughter? Finally in Ditch the Drive-Thru, Lizz shares the chicken sandwich she created for the family based on the Italian chicken marinade Kelly brought up a couple weeks ago. Yes, they do eat chicken sometimes!
The 2025 Lucid Gravity marks a major step for Lucid Motors as it enters the hotly competitive luxury electric SUV market. With a bold aerodynamic design, three-row practicality, and up to 828 horsepower, the Gravity aims to combine performance and family-friendly utility in a premium package. By doing so, it seeks to upset the luxury SUV applecart as it rockets to the top of the pack. This past week, host Jack Nerad was one of a select few journalists to drive and road test the Gravity for the first time. During his stint behind the wheel, he sampled the Gravity's dynamic split personality. At once, it is a highly competent performance vehicle and a fully utilitarian SUV that can tow, haul and convey seven adults at a rate few are accustomed to. Powered by dual motors producing up to 828 horsepower and 909 lb-ft of torque, the Gravity can accelerate to 60 mph in a claimed 3.4 seconds. Its air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and adjustable ride height make it a surprisingly agile and adaptable vehicle, particularly given its 6,048-pound curb weight, while a Terrain Mode and 6,000-pound towing capacity further expand its versatility. But is it a vehicle you'd want to live with day-to-day, given the elevated level of several of its rivals? Nerad will offer his views. In our other road test, co-host Chris Teague takes one of the nation's most popular plug-in hybrid vehicles through its paces as winter turns to spring in Maine. As unlikely as it might seem, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe is among the best sellers among the much-misunderstood roster of PHEVs. Its credentials are strong, but, again, is it a wise choice given its premium price over other Wranglers? Teague and Nerad will weigh in. When it comes to family vehicles, the Hyundai Palisade has gained a reputation as a thinking person's choice. Now, Hyundai has just introduced the all-new 2026 version, and Nerad went behind the scenes for an exclusive interview with Hyundai Product Planning Manager Melvyn Bautista to take a deep dive into the vehicle. It is both Easter week and New York Auto Show week, so we have a lot of news from each. Easter in Moab, Utah, is one of the biggest off-road gatherings of the year, and Jeep and Ford are there showing off concept vehicles. We have the details. Several new models have been introduced in and around the New York show, and we'll tell you about cool vehicles from Kia, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz and Audi in this episode. Used car buyers might be in for a price shock in the next few weeks, and it has nothing to do with tariffs. We'll tell you more and, of course, we'll have the latest auto tariff news for you too. Austin Nerad 2007-2025Our beloved dog, Austin, went to heaven this week. We miss him so. Hello and welcome fellow sketch-bookers. Ryan Sketch here and if you feel like things are looking a little different around here...they are. Anchor.fm, now part of Spotify, has partnered with Riverside to provide our media recording and publishing. I am still learning the ins and outs of it so each week should get a little better. Oddly enough, it uses AI in a way that I am actually OK with and that is to help identify "segments" or topic changes within the video. Pretty cool! It also creates a very accurate transcript for each individual person. Which I guess would help if you are deaf. Anywho, this weeks episode was pretty fun to record. Even behind the scenes we were laughing hysterically and just having a good time deciding which topics to discuss. If you are new to SBA, we discuss basically anything that was designed. Videogames, movies, cars, toys, tech etc. We will try to add more variety with each new episode so, stay tuned! This week, we discuss the following: - 2025 Detroit Auto Show aka NAIAS. Our predictions of what we will see, and what we wont see. - JaGUar's (thats not a typo either and i did not have a seizure whilst typing that) Vision Concept. Wow, uh, you'll have to listen to our review. - 2026 Honda Passport Trailsport (thats a lot of sport, but honda figured out basic, casual off-roading better than Ford, GM, Jeep, Nissan and Mazda) - 2026 Hyundai Palisade. Whoa...this is budget luxury at its finest! - Another round of Nikki's Useless Information - Nintendo R4 concept (and its Scion predecessor) - A videogame about a "genetically-altered Samurai T-Rex and his delinquent son, exploring a post-apocalyptic Tokyo, Japan" . That sounds insane but SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! P.s. This episode is labled explicit but thats purely because of some colorful language from my crew and I. Whoops. Youve been warned. Lastly, we are in NO WAY sponsored by the following: Lego, Nintendo, Jeep, JaGUar (yupp, still looks baD), Hyundai, Honda, Monster and Redbull, Dodge, or Samsung and Apple. We just happen to like their stuff.
What if turbocharged engines aren't built to last? We tackle this intriguing question as we dissect the 2025 Mazda CX-90, especially the 3.3 Turbo S Premium Plus model. Marvel at its sleek design, from its conservative front grille to the alluring chrome accents, but don't miss our candid take on its less-than-stellar infotainment system. With a robust 340 horsepower under the hood, this SUV doesn't skimp on power, but how does it stack up against rivals like the Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, and Toyota Grand Highlander? We also sprinkle in a fascinating historical tidbit about a 1938 Mercedes-Benz that hit a jaw-dropping 269 miles per hour, adding a touch of nostalgia to our automotive exploration.Join us as we shift gears to examine a luxury SUV powered by a formidable 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. This vehicle makes a bold statement with 450 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, redefining the move away from traditional V8 engines. We dive into its nine-speed automatic transmission and impressive 8,500-pound towing capacity, alongside its electronic air suspension for a ride that defines comfort. With starting prices at $82,450, and as tested for $107,215, we'll help you weigh its value against competitors like the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Cadillac Escalade. This episode is packed with insights for anyone on the hunt for a high-end SUV that doesn't compromise on luxury or power.Be sure to subscribe for more In Wheel Time Car Talk! The Lupe' Tortilla RestaurantsLupe Tortilla in Katy, Texas Gulf Coast Auto ShieldPaint protection, tint, and more!ProAm Auto AccessoriesProAm Auto Accessories: "THE" place to go to find exclusive and hard to find parts and accessories!Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. We recently purchased a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse LT AWD for testing. In this episode, we share our first impressions of the four-cylinder turbo engine, infotainment usability, and whether the Traverse works as a family hauler compared to the Kia Telluride, Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, and Hyundai Palisade. And, with recent hurricanes hitting the U.S., we discuss whether a flooded electric vehicle is more prone to becoming a fire hazard and if there are specific steps an owner should take to break in a hybrid car, truck, or SUV. Toyota's fourth-generation Highlander builds on almost two decades of momentum, and growing interest in the crossover space. This latest Highlander launched in 2019 and spun off a Grand Highlander variant that's slightly larger to meet continued demand. Pivoting to four-cylinder power, this Highlander packs a 2.4-liter turbocharged I4 that feeds 265 hp through an eight-speed automatic. That power travels through the front wheels or an all-wheel-drive system. It's hard for other automakers to ignore the hot-selling crossovers, and Hyundai jumped into the ring with its three-row Palisade. This three-row family hauler sports a 3.8-liter V6 under the hood that pushes 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque to the front or all four wheels by way of an eight-speed automatic transmission. On this episode of Talking Cars with the Boss, Wesley Wren, and Natalie Neff chat about two darlings of the midsize crossover space. The pair share their experiences with the Highlander and Palisade, and discuss the growing demand for large, three-row crossovers. Closing the show, the pair break down which of these family haulers they'd like to add to their driveway.

[As hosts Jack Nerad and Chris Teague take Labor Day weekend off, this is the repeat of a popular episode that originally aired in July. Jack and Chris will be back with an all-new episode next week.] While many claim the future is electric, statistics indicate the present day is ICE. Further evidence of that came this week with reports that inventories of newly introduced electric vehicles are piling up on dealer lots and in manufacturer inventories. While this is a cloud for many in the industry, it might represent a silver lining for all those who have been hankering for an electric vehicle, but either couldn't find one at all or were unwilling to pay well beyond the suggested list price to get one. So this could be an excellent time to buy a Ford F-150 Lightning pickup truck, a Ford Mustang Mach-E crossover, a Kia EV6 small utility, a Lucid Air luxury sedan, or a Cadillac Lyriq SUV, among many others. While, according to Experian data, EV registrations rose 68 percent in the January-to-May timeframe, some vehicles that were in short supply last year are much more available right now. EVs have risen from four percent market share in 2022 to seven percent share now, but the influx of new electric models could be flooding the marketplace with more choices than carbuyers can process. How do Americans feel about electric cars? A lot of people have opinions, but J.D. Power has data from real consumers. And our special guest this week, Stewart Stropp, executive director of EV intelligence at J.D. Power will tell all about it in his interview with Host Jack Nerad. In the road test segment, Host Jack Nerad will evaluate the pluses and minuses of the Infiniti QX80 full-size luxury SUV. The QX80 isn't the freshest vehicle in the segment, but it checks most of the boxes a luxury SUV needs to check. And compared to others in the class, it could be an excellent buy. Co-Host Chris Teague will test another three-row SUV this week, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The likable midsize crossover SUV has been a popular choice since its introduction as a 2021 model, and it's even better for 2023. Self-driving cars have always seemed to be about 10 years away, but we might be getting closer if the National Highway Traffic Administration rules favorably on a request from General Motors. The Detroit-based automaker has asked to be allowed to test its self-driving technology on public roads, and now it is waiting for an answer. NHTSA says that a ruling might be forthcoming soon, and we'll have the details. Fans of big SUVs — and that's most Americans — will be happy to learn that Volvo has just introduced a battery-electric three-row, seven-seat vehicle. We'll give you the details on the 2024 Volvo EX90 later in this segment. All that and much, much more will be there for you in this edition of America on the Road. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, YourTestDriver.com, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com
As the name implies, the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander is, well, grander than Highlander classic. There's more room, crisper design and with the Hybrid MAX powertrain, significantly more oomph. There's seating for up to 8, and for the first time, adults are okay to ride in the wayback. All that and the price premium is easy to swallow. Its strong competition to Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave, Nissan Pathfinder and Volkswagen Atlas. Tom Voelk travels to the Big Island of Hawaii to check out all three powertrains.

On this edition of Cruise Control with Fred Staab and Les Jackson The midsize pickup truck segment continues to get even hotter... Last week Ford revealed its new Ranger and this week it was Toyota's Turn with its all new Tacoma including its available hybrid drivetrain and Factory build overlanding Trailhunter edition. What's slowing down production of Alphas Tonale crossover? It has something to do with plumbing. Heard it on the AM Radio.... Bi partisanship abounds as lawmakers on both sides of the aisle say auto manufactures could not eliminate AM reception in new Electric vehicles. Plus shareholders ask Ford's CEO what about quality? And We'll have an At the Wheel review of the Hyundai Palisade when we get rolling on Cruise Control. Watch Cruise Control live every Saturday at 10 AM Eastern. When you've got over 300 episodes under your belt, you get the chance to see how things have changed in the industry, and this week at the Unnamed Automotive Podcast, the guys are applying a bit of hindsight to the cars they've been testing. First up Benjamin grabs the keys to the new 2023 Hyundai Palisade, and wonders if the industry has caught up to the standard set by the three-row back when it launched in 2019. Or is Hyundai just sitting back and waiting for its rivals to arrive? While discussing the latest updates to the crossover, Sami and Benjamin also reminisce about what the world was like when the SUV first dropped, whether things are any better in this segment, and shout out a few ideas about what automakers are following in Hyundai's footprints.
