Meeting Jason McKeown was like watching someone quietly change the future of healthcare. I first met him through the Rosenman Innovators program—where his company, Neurovalens, was honored in 2022—and it quickly became clear that his vision goes beyond ordinary medicine. A UK-trained doctor with a PhD in non-invasive neurostimulation, Jason is not only a doctor or a researcher; he's a forward-thinking leader who has spent more than a decade combining brain science with technology to help people manage anxiety, insomnia, and metabolic disorders. As the founder and CEO of Neurovalens, Jason has developed devices like Modius Sleep and Modius Stress. Both devices have received FDA approval and work by using gentle electrical signals to adjust the brainstem—the part of the brain that controls stress and sleep. His journey wasn't easy, though. In our conversation, Jason explained how he balanced working as a doctor in the UK with building a startup until 2017, when he made the big decision to focus entirely on Neurovalens. What began as a project inspired by NASA research at UC San Diego has now grown into a mission to make advanced brain therapies available worldwide. What impressed me most was Jason's determination to challenge the norm. Whether he was sharing how veterans can now access Modius devices through the VA or describing how his team's use of remote clinical trials sped up FDA approvals, his work is all about changing the way patient care is delivered. In this episode, Jason explains the science behind non-invasive neurostimulation, discusses the challenges of growing a medtech startup, and tells how a NASA study on astronauts' metabolism led to his obesity-focused device. He also shares why treating investors as key customers early on was a game changer for him. Listening to him, you'll see there is still so much to learn about the brain—and that we might be closer than ever to unlocking its secrets. Do you have thoughts on this episode or suggestions for future guests? We'd love to hear from you. Email us at hello@rosenmaninstitute.org.
Data centers are complex, high-stakes environments where downtime is not an option. The sheer volume of interconnected systems and components creates a daunting challenge for operators. This is where digital twins shine. Because of this complexity, data centers require a new level of understanding. Digital twins—virtual models fed by real-time DCIM data—can offer a transformative solution. The key is that the Digital Twin is only as good as accurate real-time data. This continuous flow of real-time information allows operators to see the bigger picture, from power usage to equipment health. Imagine a live, digital replica predicting bottlenecks, optimizing cooling, and enabling proactive maintenance. A digital twin can allow your data center to analyze your infrastructure, highlight potential issues, and provide highly accurate details on the impact of proposed changes − viewable as your monitored values change. Watch an ATS or PDU view with the power load that reflects your changing values and plan. Watch a power load peak during a fail-over with your plan changes applied to the real-time data. Power management with digital twin capabilities can simulate the failure of a device or load change and accurately model the effects of that failure, including triggering failure over to redundant partners and cascade failures. With a DCIM solution with digital twin capabilities, you gain insightful reporting that identifies potential risk areas in your infrastructure. For instance, it can flag power distribution gear that represents a single point of failure, which could lead to equipment de-energization and impact customers and SLAs. This proactive approach to risk management is a vital advantage of a DCIM solution with digital twin capabilities. Imagine a planning module based on a digital twin model and its capabilities. It doesn't just show simple details like additional loads but also simulates complex scenarios. For instance, it can predict when a device will fail, reroute load in the virtual model to redundant partners, and show the effect on those devices as well. This comprehensive approach to planning is where a true digital twin adds much more value than a simple load addition or removal. By using real-time DCIM data, digital twins become intelligent partners, ensuring peak performance and a more resilient data center. While the idea of a digital twin for your data center has existed for a long time, operators now can have that digital twin fed by millions of data points per minute inside a full-fledged powerful DCIM. The view of Modius is that anything less makes it just a "Digital Cousin". The company believes its Modius ® OpenData® is the gateway to these next-gen capabilities and is using this podcast to kick off this effort.

HVMN Podcast: Evidence-based Nutrition, Fitness, & Biohacking
Dr. Jason McKeown, CEO of Modius, joins us this week to discuss an interesting area of neurology: How the hypothalamus influences metabolism. He believes that the hypothalamus plays a crucial role in how lean you are, your ability to train harder, your hunger levels, and, ultimately, weight loss. This is why he created the Modius, a headset that sends a low-level electrical pulse to the vestibular nerve, tricking your brain into believing your body is moving. He lost 19 pounds and gained 5 pounds of muscle utilizing the device. Dr. McKeown provides a transparent view of how the cutting-edge technology works within the brain and body, citing specific studies and trials (with NASA-associated data that goes back 50 years), making for an engaging and thoughtful conversation. Here are three discussion points from the conversation: How the vestibular nerve connects with the brain, what it controls, and the methods of stimulating it. How does mimicking movement and tricking the brain result in genuine weight loss? The human studies that have been and is being done on the technology Want to try the Modius Headset for 10% off with a 90-day money back guarantee? In this Episode of our Six Weeks to Fitness podcast, I am joined by Dr. Jason McKeown, CEO of MODIUS Health and Tom Bilyeu, co-founder of the 2014 Inc. 500 company Quest Nutrition and the co-founder and host of Impact Theory. Dr. McKeown and Tom will discuss how MODIUS, a revolutionary new wearable technology, works to help you reduce body weight and gain a lean muscular body. MODIUS, which has been approved by the FDA as a “wellness device”, was developed by Dr. McKeown and other neuroscientists, based in San Diego, California. During the interview, Dr. McKeown explains how MODIUS works by “stimulating the vestibular nerve, which connects to the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is the area of the brain that controls body weight and appetite. Vestibular stimulation has been shown to influence body weight.” In August of 2017, a 2-month fundraising campaign on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo was created to raise $50,000. According to Dr. McKeown, MODIUS is fully funded and did not need the $50,000 but as a way to further promote the product and do a proof of concept by having people purchase and try the product, the crowdfunding campaign was created. The campaign is nearly over and as of this writing; MODIUS has raised approximately 1.5 million dollars, 2995% of its $50,000 fundraising goal. MODIUS is not meant to take the place of proper nutrition and exercise, but to be a catalyst that would encourage people to eat better and exercise. The creators of MODIUS are so confident as to the device’s effectiveness, that they are offering a 100% money back guarantee. If for some reason you lose too much weight or not enough, or if it just doesn’t work for you, you can still get your money back no questions asked. This device has the potential to being one of the greatest breakthroughs in modern history as it relates to weight loss. Tom Bilyeu stated that since he’s been using MODIUS, he has better quality sleep and sleeps about one hour longer, which is another health benefit from using MODIUS. This has been a truly fascinating interview about an amazing product, which can potentially benefit millions and perhaps billions worldwide.
Dr Jason McKeown from MODIUS joins us today to talk about all things fat loss. Dr McKeown along with Dr Paul McGeoch have developed a device that stimulates the vestibular nerve which influences the metabolic signals from the hypothalamus. Very interesting stuff and cutting edge to say the least. We discuss how the device helps to lower the 'set point' people have that makes it hard to lose weight. Why people seem to put the weight back on after a diet and how the device should help with keeping the fat off permanently. We also talk about the crowdfunding that was used to raise the initial development funds and how the goal of $50,000 was soon surpassed and raised $1,400,000+ Check them out https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/modius-get-lean-fitness-health#/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/modiushealth/
Today's episode reveals the breakthrough weight-loss device "Modius," from Neurovalens. This non-invasive wearable headband is helping to reduce body fat and increase wellness through activation of the vestibular nerve. JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP | REVIEW THIS PODCAST Traditionally, wearables have focused on tracking and monitoring. They can tell us things like how many steps we've taken, and the body's heart rate and calorie intake. But this new technology with Modius works by activating the parts of our brain that will dictate how our system holds onto fat. It creates a sensation in the mind of physical activity which will shift our metabolism and help to release excess weight. On this podcast, we talk with Tom Bilyeu, co-founder of Quest Nutrition and host of the "Impact Theory" podcast, along with Dr. Jason Mckeown, CEO of Neurovalens. They explain how combined with proper diet and exercise, Modius may control how the wellness and medical communities approach obesity in the years to come. Listen To Episode 130 As We Uncover: How to control fat loss through vestibular nerve activation Tom's fascination with neuroscience and its impact on wellness Why Tom decided to join forces with Neurovalence Jason's path that led him to study vestibular stimulation with Dr. Ramachandran The meaning behind the name "Modius" How the hypothalamus helps to control our level of body fat Why vestibular stimulation will cause a metabolic shift in our body The changes Tom can notice since wearing the Modius headband How the body uses insulin and leptin to regulate our weight and appetite Jason's health transformation after using Modius and adjusting his lifestyle The cognitive benefits that come from movement and exercise How the vestibular system can impact depression and anxiety The relation between the vagus and vestibular nerves How vestibular stimulation affects our sleep Why the effects of Modius won't lead to a dependency on the device How a gratitude practice can help reduce stress levels Top 3 Takeaways From The Show Weight loss can be challenging for many individuals. Sometimes even with proper diet and exercise, we can still hold onto fat. There is an ideal weight where the brain believes it should keep the body, and this level increases with a sedentary lifestyle and high-calorie diet. Through neurostimulation with the Modius, we can help change this determined set point for our body's fat storage and begin to release weight more easily. Don't be closed-minded to technology empowering human potential. Forward-thinking innovation is no longer a convenience, but a necessity in the wellness world. We must continuously develop our body's intuition to help regulate our health and these new tools and technologies give us an upper-hand in the process. The Modius device isn't the "end all be all" for weight loss, but it's being shown to help us get closer to our goals. We still have to adjust our lifestyle and take steps to increase our physical and emotional wellness if we want to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Find out why the world's top neuroscientists believe this "groundbreaking" device can reduce body fat and change our set points without any changes to diet or exercise. Neurovalens CEO Dr. Jason McKeown (trained under V.S. Ramachandran) has created a groundbreaking technology that uses vestibular stimulation to "biohack" the hypothalamus, the portion of our brain that serves as the control center for the hormones that regulate weight, appetite and body composition. On the show we talk about: Discover how the hypothalamus controls body fat levels and appetite Learn how neurovestibular stimulation works Why our bodies are prepared to store fat than to burn fat (HINT: our ancestors were more likely to starve to death than overeat on a regular basis Can MODIUS really help us lower this "set point"? And do it without changing our diet or exercise? If it’s real, then it can withstand criticism and if it crumbles to criticism it wasn’t real Do they see benefit other than the superficial body fat reduction? And what can they say without upsetting the FDA? If this device works by replicating motion, why not walk or play flag football - something that is actually a motion, rather than stimulating it? (This Jason's ultimate goal, but he sees MODIUS as a bridge for millions.) The paradigm shifting study done by NASA in the 60’s What you build your self-esteem around matters (Tom’s advice) Why it's good to be open to being wrong The Obesity Epidemic in the US has reached an all time high, with every state's population being > 20-25% obese, some states as high as 35-40%. MODIUS may be a life changing tool for millions of people who struggle to reduce fat.
Tom Bilyeu & Dr. Jason McKeown came to the Mind Pump Media Studio to discuss Modius, a device that uses a non-invasive, drug-free method of stimulation to activate the vestibular nerve, indicating to your body that it is physically active & moving its set point for body fat down. There is a lot of science behind it but that doesn't keep Sal, Adam & Justin from having a healthy degree of skepticism and ask probing questions about the safety and long-term effectiveness of the device.
