Happy New Year!True Believers!Connect with me here: https://www.unexplainedinc.comThe Law Of Attraction....a polarizing subject for many!In this edition of The Great Escape...you will find out that this concept is fact and not fiction...however...it is being widely misused and misunderstood.I came to this conclusion after I read a book and took the 10 week journey that accompanied with it known as The Presence Process by Michael Brown. I am in no way affiliated with the author nor receive kickbacks or sponsorship...but applying this book and journey properly could solve a lot of your internal issues...I will kindly put the Amazon link here: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=the+presence+process+michael+brown&crid=30ABQIEBIA7TC&sprefix=the+presence+process%2Caps%2C127&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_1_20Within this reading I learned what many 'celebrity' and 'trendy' people associated with LOA are not telling you...likely in order to 'invest' in their programs and materials to make a fortune off your back while you are likely still not getting the truth on these concepts. Hunting Discomfort (ft. Sterling Hawkins)Shifting our perspectives on stress and setbacksOPENING QUOTE:“It's about surrounding yourself with people that are going to support your growth, that are more committed to your vision than your feelings.”—Sterling HawkinsGUEST BIO:Sterling Hawkins is the author of Hunting Discomfort, a chart-topping new book about breaking the status quo no matter what. Sterling believes we can all unlock incredible potential within ourselves, and he's on a mission to support people, businesses, and communities and help them reach their potential regardless of circumstances. From a multibillion dollar startup to collapse, then coming back to launch before investing in and helping grow over 50 companies, Sterling brings his experience to some of the largest organizations on the planet and stages around the globe. His perspectives can be found in publications such as Inc., Fast Company, the New York Times, and Forbes.Show Links:WebsiteYouTubeInstagramFacebookLinkedInTwitterCORE TOPICS + DETAILS:[6:18] - Every Day, No Matter WhatThe art and science of setting intentionsWhether small or large, you should set a goal to do something that brings you closer to your goal every single day. It might be five minutes of focused work or five hours of intense attention. But whatever your goal, you should make some amount of progress greater than zero every day. It builds confidence and courage within yourself, not to mention that it builds momentum towards your goals.[33:37] - “Don't Say ‘Surrender'”Moving past the stigma of surrenderingSterling is often told that he should stop using the word ‘surrender' in his talks and writings. He's told that surrendering means to give up, but the truth is that surrendering means accepting things as they are and as they're not. It's synonymous with acceptance, and we can't truly change anything until we accept it.[36:41] - From Head to HeartChanging where we spend our internal timeMany of us spend most of our lives in our heads— where the reasons, excuses, and circumstances live. Our approach to life becomes circumstantial and dependent on the world. But when you spend more time in your heart, you step out of reasons and excuses and find the courage to commit to transformation. You get over fear, over-analysis, and resistance and begin pursuing your passions.[40:16] - The Finite and the UltimateLessons from a German-American theologianPhilosopher Paul Tillich believes there are two primary focuses that human beings give their attention to— the finite and the ultimate. Finite concerns are things like paying rent, earning money, reaching business goals. Ultimate concerns are things like love, joy, peace, and happiness. These can never be taken away from you. When we remember that, all of our finite concerns become less concerning.RESOURCES:[0:54] Chasing Discomfort[12:55] A Servant to Servants, by Robert Frost[42:50] The Presence Process, by Michael BrownFollow Sterling:WebsiteYouTubeInstagramFacebookLinkedInTwitterFollow Paul:Keynote Speaking WebsitePlaymakers PodcastThe Power of Playing OffenseLinkedInFacebookTwitterInstagramYoutubeSHOW PARTNER:The WHY InstituteAre you ready to find your ‘why'? Hello beauties and welcome back to the This is Really Happening Podcast. In episode 7 I dive into all things patience. So, do you feel that you're a patient person naturally or is this maybe something that you have needed to work on? For myself, it's been a long work in progress of self-inquiry, and trial and error. It's one that has taken me years to embody and is an ongoing practice. The good news is, if you've struggled with patience and/or a temper, there IS hope, and it comes through self-introspection and radical presence. I discuss my journey to reclaiming my patience in terms of learning astrology, the discovering the chakra system through my yogic studies along with breathwork and one of my favorite books, The Presence Process. As always, I keep it authentic, real and raw and, touch on patience during the awakening process, as a parent, as a child, and beyond.  The episode closes with a manipura chakra guided meditation from Anodea Judith's book, Wheels of Life. Thanks for tuning in. I am sending you lots love. xx, Amy Links to Check Out The Presence Process by Michael Brown Wheels of Light by Anodea Judith Connect with Me Clear Channel Activation

Andrew Sumner welcomes actor & author Evangeline Lilly (Lost, The Hobbit, Ant-Man and The Wasp, South of Heaven) back to Hard Agree for the fifth episode of her seven-part podcast mini-series: Evangeline Lilly's Library of the Soul. In this instalment, The Presence Process, Evangeline & Andrew discuss Evangeline's fourth book selection – The Presence Process by Michael Brown - and the circumstances Evangeline found herself in when she first encountered Brown's work. As usual, their conversation takes place across a significant divide: Evangeline is a passionate spiritualist and believer - and Andrew is a passionate agnostic and skeptic. Evangeline's sanctuaries are churches, temples and the forest, while Andrew's are comic books, movies and jazz. Where, exactly, this conversation will lead is what these seven episodes are all about. Jared Robin, Co-Founder of RevGenius, a sales community with over 12,000 active members, joins Ashleigh and Ollie to talk about how his sales and mental health journies overlap and how he made it out from rock bottom.SHOW NOTESHis Sales Journey-After leaving school, Jared realized he wanted to be in a customer-facing role. So, he started his first sales position.-However, he left after only three months. On a surface level, because he hated cold-calling. And, on a deeper level, because he wasn't getting the validation he needed.-He joined FedEx and ascended the company ladder but didn't feel challenged. So, he left to join the startup world.Rock Bottom-Making the transition from FedEx to SaaS was difficult on many levels. He didn't believe in the product he had to sell. He had taken a pay cut to pursue this. And, he was in a relationship that wasn't working.-While he was able to shrug these doubts and anxieties off for a while, they still surfaced. And, he began waking up at 2:30 in the morning with his heart racing.-This was something he couldn't ignore. With the help of his dad, he started therapy and was introduced to the book The Presence Process by Michael Brown.-Though his therapist was phenomenal, he ultimately realized there was nothing she or anyone else could do to solve his problem. He had to embark on a solo journey.Common Self-Care Mistakes-Jared emphasizes the difference between motion and movement. Motion is the surface-level mental or physical activity that people do to try and solve problems. While movement requires diving deep emotionally, attempting to understand reactions that have been there for years.Managing Triggers-Managing triggers is about integrating fears and acknowledging your perceptions of the world. Attempt to understand the way you react to events and how they make you feel. His Journey and RevGenius-The values of giving and community had always been prevalent in his life, and empathy was lacking in sales. So, he combines these in RevGenius, creating a space where people can go when work or the world isn't treating them well.Resources-The Presence Process by Michael Brown-Gap Selling by Keenan-Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss-NAMI-MHA-ADAA-SAMHSA-Suicide Prevention LifelineSend in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/othersideofsales/messageSupport this podcast: https://anchor.fm/othersideofsales/support

Rethink the Drink BOOM!

We all know there are people who do not have a problem with addiction and there are some of us who do. And most of us have been touched directly or indirectly by this. I took that recent Sunday morning and my hangover as a gentle warning, a sign from God or Universe, or the One or whatever you want to call Her or Him or It. As if to say, There is this thing you are ignoring, I invite you to listen. This time I will tell you softly, with only a hangover and lost Sunday. But next time may be different. I have seen the writing on the wall and I am paying attention. Are you? I asked myself and I ask you now, Does alcohol interfere with the way you want to move through life? Do you feel rested and open-hearted the morning after a night out? Or do you feel irritable, cloudy, and maybe even a little depressed? Do you agree, as Michael Brown said in his wonderful book The Presence Process (a book which changed my life) that Alcohol and drugs sedate authenticity? Maybe, for you, alcohol is not a problem. Or maybe it is. I want to greet each day, as much as possible, with loving-kindness and an open heart. I want to live my truth, which is that I am (as we all are), as Ram Dass says, “Loving Awareness”. Alcohol, for me, interferes with that. With so much information floating around out there in the spiritual world about how to manifest abundance and, in the secular world about how to attain your goals, it's difficult to consider such concepts as staying in the moment. Michael Brown, our guest today, helps us bridge the gaps. Author of two books we'll be talking about today, “The Presence Process” and “Alchemy of the Heart,” as well as a DVD entitled “Awakening to Innocence / Inner Sense,” Michael can teach us all how to both release the imprinting of our childhood and begin to experience the now of authenticity. In Michael's own words “The Presence Process is not about changing who or what we are. This is impossible. Instead, it is about releasing our attachment to our manufactured identity so that we may gently return to an awareness of our authentic Presence.” Who are you, really? Come listen to Michael and explore the inner terrain of yourself.

Recently our team had tons of complex deadlines where they were doing work that was new to them. New challenges, new people to collaborate with, new aspects of the project that they couldn’t control. These are the situations where you truly want to have a more creative team.In this case, however, we weren’t experiencing the benefits of creativity. Instead, it was stressful. And even though my team is great at navigating stress, they went into Critter State (fight, flight, freeze). As the number of new aspects reached overload, several parts of their brain were compromised. Cell signaling was out of whack. Mistakes were made, details dropped, and then I got into Critter State too. Uh oh. Epic mess now.Why can’t we be in a high state of creativity AND navigate tons of growth and change? Must they be mutually exclusive?Proof That We Can Create CreativityHuman beings have 100 billion neurons available in our brains. Yet only about 15% are activated. How do we gain access to more neurons? Would increased access make us more creative? Would this access give us a more creative team?We need to be creative to solve problems, to have insights, and to adapt and adjust. Those are all the skills we want access to turbulent times. This is where some Harvard research comes in. From it we learn that even a tiny bit of mindfulness training can boost creative output. To explore this idea further, they conducted a study with a midsize U.S.-base d real estate firm to examine whether a mindfulness training program could influence a team’s creativity.Side note: let’s remember that mindfulness essentially means awareness. It means paying attention first to oneself and being present to oneself. (This includes how you’re feeling, what you’re noticing inside yourself and outside yourself.)Mindfulness Can Build a More Creative TeamIn the study I reference above, they created 2 teams of 5 people each: a meditating group and a control group. They then gave both groups a creative task: to brainstorm as many unusual uses for a brick as they could think of. Next they administered a 10-minute mindfulness exercise, and then asked them to continue brainstorming the creative task. They found that 7 out of 10 people increased the number of creative ideas after only 10 minutes of meditationOver time, they found that the meditating group was 121% more able to build on the ideas of othersThey found the meditating team was more innovative overall, better at problem solving, have more cognitive flexibility, and moreI’ve covered the physiological benefits (increased cell density in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus, decreased cell density in the amygdala, etc) of mindfulness in the past. So those explain some of the “how” that we gain access to more neurons. Next, let’s look at how to bring this into your culture.Let’s Bring This Down To EarthHow do we create a culture that supports creativity? How do we build more creative teams? Here’s what our clients find:Ensure your organization’s values and purpose support the importance of having insights, stepping back, approaching problems with fresh eyesStart meetings with a presence practice (see below)Offer a meditation room or at a minimum a “quiet zone” where people can do a 10 minute meditation whenever they wantPresence PracticeThanks to the Hoffman Institute for the basic outline of this process. My organization, SmartTribes Institute, has made some modifications to boost effectiveness in the business world.Start each meeting with the following Presence Process to foster safety, belonging, mattering:“Stand up tall and feel your feet on the floor. Feel your full height, stretching from the bottom of your feet to the top of your head. Truly feel your energy and solidity. Feel your dignity, and feel how present you are, right here and now.”“Next feel your full width, the width of your feet, legs, torso, arms, chest, head. Feel the amount of space you occupy on the planet. You’re supposed to be here. We’re all so glad you’re here with us.”“Next feel your depth, feel from the front of your torso through the back of it. Feel where you are, and your purpose in life. Feel your commitment to yourself, your loved ones, your colleagues, your organization. Really feel the difference you are making in the lives of the people you interact with.”“Thanks for being present with us all today. Your being here matters. Your being part of this tribe matters. (Look at each person for a second to establish connection). Ok, let’s start the meeting.”The Net-NetMindfulness—even 10 minutes of it—boosts creativity in the majority of people.More creative teams means better and faster problem solving, cognitive flexibility, collaboration, innovation.More of the above equals a happier team using more of their brain capacity. What will you do today to boost creativity of your team?Resources Mentioned:Emotion wheel: https://smarttribesinstitute.com/emotion-wheel/Reframing infographics: https://smarttribesinstitute.com/reframing/ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

If you want to truly experience joy then you must be willing to experience sadness. Do you think this is true?   On this edition of the Sex, Money, and Food Podcast, our guest is Michele PW joins us to talk about feeling ALL of the feelings and why doing so is what ultimately allows us to experience the highest forms of love and joy and peace. You’ll hear Michele share why we don’t need to suppress our fear, anger, sadness or grief and how to actually feel those feelings without acting on them. Listen in for that and more on episode 101 of The Sex, Money and Food podcast!   More About This Show   Michele PW is someone who knows about emotions. She is the best-selling author of the Love-based copywriting books and she produces the podcast, Love-based Money. Her books and her podcast focus on using positive emotions in copywriting and in personal finance, but at the core of her teachings she shows people how to embrace all of their emotions.   Today we began by talking about why people are afraid of feeling fear-based emotions like anger, grief, shame, guilt, anxiety, and worry. In fact Michele says people are so afraid of those emotions that they tamp down ALL their emotions. It’s a cultural thing: we’ve been conditioned to hide our vulnerability and our fears.   Along the way we have forgotten that all of our emotions have an important purpose. They are warning signs for us to pay attention to, like anger which means our boundaries are being pushed. When we feel sadness and grief it means something we loved is over.   Even fear, shame and guilt all have their own purpose; fear shows us that sometimes there is really something to be afraid of in that dark corner we can’t see, shame and guilt are there to help us live in a community and among our tribe. At our core we are tribal beings and want to be with our people.   Our society has become so focused on our intellectual side that we’ve lost touch with the importance of our emotions. And that's why people are so uncomfortable when someone is expressing a fear-based emotion like sadness or grief. If someone is crying people will grab a tissue and tell them it's going to be okay, even if they don't know it's going to be okay.   People do so because the crying is making them uncomfortable. What most of us don’t realize is that the person’s discomfort with grief or sadness then puts pressure on the person experssing their grief or sadness to stop expressing those emotions, to stop feeling and stop crying. So even if someone want to show their sadness, they cannot because other people aren’t okay with it.   Which led me to ask her how we can sit with our own emotions, feel them and be okay with them. Michele had several pieces of advice, the first being to stop and breathe. Rather than posting a rant on social media when you feel triggered, instead just stop and breathe while allowing the emotions to swirl inside of you. Eventually you’ll find they will pass and you will come out the other side.   Michele also recommends following a book called The Presence Process by Michael Brown. It's a ten week program with specific breathing techniques and tools he guides you to use through each of the ten weeks. On today’s show Michele explains the breathing technique in the book, why it helps us become present and the emotions-related reason why we actively avoid being present in our lives.   We also discuss looking at your shadow, and how to have a relationship with your shadow. She gives specific examples including what our relationship with money says about our shadow and what to do if you are really worried about your finances. Chronic pain, tightness and less flexibility may be caused by the life force being blocked within the spine and meningeal system (sheath that surrounds the spinal cord). Zen Benefiel joins the "Are You Being Present?" podcast as a guest host with Paul Kerzner.  Zen is an author, minister, facilitator and "possibilities coagulator" who has years of experience working within the mindfulness arena. The title of this podcast is "What's Your Presence Process?"  Learning and working on presence requires a fluid methodology that is developed and improved throughout life.   Both Zen and Paul delve into a deep discussion where they explore their own perspectives and perceptions of the present moment.  During the podcast Zen discusses how he grew up as empathic and having to learn how to be present and navigate the world without taking on other people's feelings.  He shared the need to find a place that he could differentiate himself as there was a tendency to take on emotions that weren't his own.  There are many people who are also empathic that will find this part of the podcast useful and relatable.   One interesting subject that Zen and Paul explore was communication and the effect is has on being present.  Often times there is a considerable amount of projection taking place and this can be due to the fact that people will hear different things based on their own subjective interpretations.  Having clarity, speaking with intention and being open is a key component of a successful presence process. The Presence Projects thanks Zen for joining the podcast and looks forward to having him return soon for a follow up.  If you'd like to learn more or contact Zen Benefiel please visit his website: http://zenbenefiel.com/

Staying present is one of the hardest things we must learn to do if we are to integrate body, mind and soul. As David Ord, our guest for today puts it, “A lot of us have moments when we are present, but we can't sustain it throughout our workday and time with our family. We either drift into thought or we become emotionally reactive to something that upsets us.” Sustaining that presence is what Michael Brown's book The Presence Process is all about. And David is coming today to talk to us about that process, since Michael cannot be here. David is Michael's editor as the Editorial Director of Namaste Publishing Company and an author in his own right. Both from his own work and from the work of editing Michael's work, he can speak very clearly to the process of integration that occurs as a result of this presence process. If you have difficulty staying present—tune in—you'll be glad you did.

Drs. Murphy and Sklar, a psychiatrist and a physiatrist, inquire into the nature of pain, The Presence Process, and the nature of "reality." Dr. Sklar just finished The Presence Process for the nth time. Dr. Murphy, a veteran Presence Processor who has completed The Presence Process n-x times, speaks gratefully of not being finished by The Presence Process. (If you start the Process, finish it, is a good rule of thumb.) The theory starting the Process without finishing it is unpleasant would get support from such notables as psychiatrist, Carl Jung. The emotional "matter" repressed in the unconscious, that is responsible for our symptoms in life, is constantly striving to reach the surface. This is because the body, mind, heart, and soul are self-healing and self-regulating. What the soul can embrace, the soul can release (heal.) The Process facilitates this resolution (distinct from relief which is ultimately fatal.) If you invite material up and then don’t face it and embrace it; life will bring you circumstances that evoke the emotion you are running from (much more unpleasant in the outer world than in the inner world.) Wherever you go; there “it” is. Until you face “it,” embrace “it,” digest “it,” and integrate “it,” it will persist. First life whispers; then it yells. It’s an interesting conversation at least. Some may be liberated from years of pain. It’s possible.
