Forget about all those uncool Xmas tunes you hear in the malls - we've got the good stuff for this Holiday season! The first present for you is "Mr. Scrooge" by England's GREATEST 60S girl group, The Orchids (2:16). If Georgina Oliver isn't in your 60s British Music Icons Advent Calendar - then one listen to this, and she will be! Great backing from Pamela Jarman & Valerie Jones. John Lennon gets coal in his stocking for puttin' 'em down on TV in '63. The next carol is by the legendary Sonics! They "Don't Believe In Christmas", maybe because John Lennon was The Grinch (32:13). A pinch from Chuck Berry, but who cares!! Man, Christmas sounds rough on the mean streets of Tacoma, Washington! Back to The Beatles - remember who's better than them? The Monkees, who do an ace version of Macca's "Wonderful Christmastime" (1:06:39). This one is sweet as a candy cane. Another legend comes down the chimney for Song 4 - Bob Dylan klezmers it up with his interdenominational "Must Be Santa" (1:53:59). Xmas is a great excuse to get drunk for a month - so enjoy it! Gather round the brazier and Ho Ho Ho!!!

W/C 20th December 2021 As it turns out there isn't a shortage of Turkeys. If anything it's a buyers market as far as turkeys this Christmas, judging by the fact that pretty much all of the fresh turkeys in the supermarket were already reduced at 07:15 when I popped along for my bread, milk & veg. It's amazing the impact the stories about shortages a couple of months ago have had. Because we have either (collectively) embraced frozen turkeys this year, or we have decided to give something else a bash instead, and head off potential disappointment. Maybe then, given the apparent power the mainstream media clearly has, they could perhaps put some effort into holding the real turkeys to account and give us all the prospect of kinder, fairer and altogether more grown-up Christmas to look forward to next year. Stay safe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8qE6WQmNus (Must Be Santa - Bob Dylan) https://www.instagram.com/ashortstories (Instagram) https://www.twitter.com/ashortstories (Twitter) https://www.facebook.com/ashortstoriespodcast/ (Facebook) Support this podcast
The Sue Morgan Podcast Episode 65 - It Must Be Santa 251221 by Random audio from UK broadcaster Ian Watko Watkins
In this Rant/Rave episode, Conor and Caroline are sharing their yuletide thoughts on two of Disney's depictions of Santa: 2019's Noelle and 1994's The Santa Clause. Is Caroline right to put Noelle on the naughty list for not being good enough as the first female Santa? And did Conor check his list twice when he claims that Tim Allen's Christmas classic gives us the best addition to Santa lore? Welcome to Hang the Holly. This is an inside look into the latest episode of the Celtic Christmas Podcast. Today, I'm gonna tell you about The Irish Rovers. But first... the second 2020 episode of the Celtic Christmas Podcast is now online. It's called The Holly and The Ivy. It features Christmas music from The Irish Rovers, Steel Clover, Matthew Young, Emish, Spencer & Beane, Laura MacKenzie, Cantus Lunaris, The Jig Is Up!, Andrew D. Huber, Rosmerta, Haggis Rampant, A Shamrock in Kudzu, Sarah Marie Mullen, The Selkie Girls, The Gothard Sisters. If you want to enjoy an hour of Celtic Christmas music, rate the show. Then subscribe to the podcast at CelticChristmasPodcast.com. Let's get on with the show. Hailing all the way back to Toronto in the 1960s, The Irish Rovers are a well-regarded Irish band that have had the honor of being named the “Folk Group of the Year” in Canada, appeared on TV shows in the U.S., and even hosted their own show on the CBC in the 1970s. Known for their Irish folk music—and their longevity—this band has produced more than 45 albums that people have enjoyed throughout the world, many times over. If you're searching for a good batch of Irish Christmas tunes, this Canadian band delivers a number of different collections to choose from. Piano for Christmas Time is a wonderful album of instrumental holiday music. The blend of songs is perfect for holiday dinners or tree trimming, or whenever you are looking to add a bit of Irish flavor to the mood of the day. This 10-track collection finishes off with a fun Christmas Eve medley, blending favorites like "Jingle Bells", "Frosty the Snowman", and "Here Comes Santa Claus" together to help get everyone in a festive mood. Merry Merry Time of Year is another collection of Christmas music that provides 15 lovelies to round out any holiday collection, such as “Christ the King” and “Must Be Santa”. Also available—and a great choice if you're in the mood to kick back and watch a concert--be sure to try out their DVD, “The Irish Rovers Christmas”, which showcases the band (and guests!) at Chatham Ontario's historic Capitol Theatre, playing live. Not only will you hear great music, but the 2+ hours that were recorded also feature some sneak-peeks behind the scenes and other cool extras. Those searching for a recognizable list of Christmas classics—Irish style—would do well to invest in “The Irish Rovers Songs of Christmas”, which kicks out some tried-and-true favorites. Included on this album are tracks like “Away in a Manger”, “We Three Kings”, and “Silent Night”, among others. And don't miss the band's fun take on “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer”, which makes you want to sing right along with them! There's something to be said for bands like The Irish Rovers, who have stood the test of time. Groups like this have truly developed a sound that is all their own. Playing together for so many years results in a seamless blending of musicianship, and the band is filled to the brim with Irish energy and enthusiasm. Whether you're looking to round out a collection of Christmas music or want to share some Celtic-style tunes with friends or family as a gift, these albums make a terrific pick. To get a taste of this band's take on holiday music, you can now listen to show #56: The Holly and The Ivy. The show is free to enjoy, as usual. However, it is supported by the generosity of Celtic music fans like you over on Patreon. You can subscribe at CelticChristmasPodcast.com . Nollaig shona daoibh.
Every musical artist comes up against a few musical mountains to climb. Perhaps the highest, good tidingest mountain of them all is the Christmas album. Elvis did one. Bing Crosby and the Jackson Five too. And so did Bob Dylan, 2009's Christmas in the Heart. “Must Be Santa” was the single. Now what exactly was that all about? This show is a part of Pantheon Podcasts.

We here at Bowie vs. Dylan bet you thought you could just skip past the storytelling parts of this special VH1 Storytellers podcast and get to, like, the music, man. Well, too bad for you, because VH1 Records (still a thing, sure) demanded that we list all of the tracks on this episode as containing both the story AND the telling, but also whatever song comes after. Lot of story, a lot of telling, precious little music is how they roll. Also, podcasts don't have much music in them, man. Podcasts are by their very nature a spoken word medium, because of the 1st amendment. Ever heard of it? And, music is extremely challenging to license for podcasts, especially ones with 40 listeners who are just dying to get shouted out on air for sending us emails at bowievsdylan@gmail.com. Finally, its expensive, dang, we here at Bowie vs. Dylan tried to call Bowie's and Dylan's management about using just a little taste of that sweet non-spoken word manna from heaven they call music, but- SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNTTTTTTTTTAAAAAAAAAAA! Just arrived in our hearts, got to go, enjoy this Christmas in July episode of Bowie vs. Dylan.

How do we follow an episode of two fun, charming, wonderful songs by legendary musicians? By reviewing and ranking two weird, dull, mystifying songs by legendary musicians, of course! RJ and Ian try to decipher the how and why of Tom Petty's "Christmas All Over Again" and struggle to understand anything at all about Bob Dylan's "Must Be Santa". Tonight's show, with special guest host Karen Pighin, is all about Bob Dylan: the man, the myth, the legend. We included some interesting covers of Dylan tunes and a couple of phone calls. Paul Norton of CiTR's "Code Blue" talked about Bob Dylan fandom, and then Carl Finch of Brave Combo chatted about the backstory of Dylan covering "Must Be Santa". Apologies for the technical difficulties at show's beginning - it does get better! :) Thanks so much for tuning in and for supporting CiTR.cheers, valfolkoasis@gmail.com
