In this episode, Suge responds to podcast fans who have asked him to go through each person that was a key part of Death Row Records and give his rundown on the good and bad about them. First up, Dr. Dre. Suge talks us back to the early days of meeting Dre when he was signed to Eazy E and Jerry Heller's Ruthless Records. Suge talks about the soundtrack to the movie “Deep Cover,” and how much of an important role it played in getting Death Row off the ground. Suge commends Dre for not running off when the war between Ruthless and Death Row got going. Suge talks about the challenges for many in the music industry that lead a double life and how challenging it was for Suge himself to manage and grow a business in this environment. Suge goes into Dr. Dre's history of beating women, comparing it to the situation with Diddy and Cassie. Suge continues to point out the powers that be at the major record labels and their role in creating and supporting these types of activities. In a special epilogue to this episode, Suge provides a graphic detailing of Dr. Dre's brutal 1991 attack on Fox TV video show host Dee Barnes. Despite gag orders for all parties that came with a legal settlement made at the time, Dr. Dre would later re-hash his violent attack on Ms. Barnes in the Eminem song “Guilty Conscience,” where the Dre and Eminem make fun of what happened. Finally, Suge reveals never-before-heard details he learned from Barnes' husband Ricky Harris shortly before his death in 2016. This episode is sponsored by Earnin. The Manufacturing world is a little rough and tumble. The floors aren't always clean and the conversations may be a little rough too. But what do we know about the manufacturing workforce in America? They are diehard loyal Americans who work hard and sweat hard to make parts, pieces and equipment made right here in the USA. So where does Jesus fit in to the manufacturing world? Dee Barnes is here to tell her story of being the CEO of Evans Tool and Die in Conyers GA and how Jesus changed her life and impacts her manufacturing company every day. Dee is also going to tell us about a very special event she is hosting related to her life before Jesus.Dee Barnes always dreamed of running her family company, Evans Tool & Die and went to school to prepare herself to do just that. Dee dealt with sexual sin – heterosexual and homosexual and one day a friend showed her Romans 1 and it convicted her. God is using her testimony of transformation in amazing ways. She is the first to tell you that God has blessed her through her healing and given her a husband and family as a blessing. Now years later she is back running the family business as CEO while at the same time leading His Wonderful Works. Dee's love for the Lord comes through by her bold approach to running the company. She regularly offers prayer to her employees and ends meetings with prayer, asking God to solve their supply chain issues or anything else they may be dealing with. Dee is a great example of just being bold and trusting the Lord for answers. His Wonderful Works is hosting their event in Atlanta September 11, 2021 and is full of testimonies of believers walking in healing from a variety of sexual sins. https://hiswonderfulworks.com/amazing-love-event/They are offering: For His Wonderful Works – The Amazing Love Event – Free admission for 4 to the Amazing Love Event on Sept 11th. After hip hop icon Dr. Dre brutally assaulted trailblazing emcee and television personality Dee Barnes in 1991, his career continued to skyrocket while she was effectively blacklisted from the entertainment industry. Nearly three decades later, Dre, who has allegedly assaulted several other women in addition to Dee, continues to enjoy a celebrated career in which his heinous misdeeds have become mere footnotes. The combination of racism and patriarchy is the condition of possibility that allows Beats by Dre to be well-known commodities while beatings by Dre remain largely overlooked. As part of their fifth annual event series, Her Dream Deferred: A Week on the Status of Black Women, the African American Policy Forum, in partnership with the Hammer Museum, convened a panel called “Black Women and #MeToo”. Along with Dee, the panel included such leading lights as actor and Times Up WOC activist Rashida Jones, supermodel and Bill Cosby accuser Beverly Johnson, cultural critic Jamilah Lemieux, historian Stephanie E. Jones-Rogers and #MuteRKelly co-founder Kenyette Tisha Barnes. The panel was moderated by AAPF Executive Director and Intersectionality Matters host Kimberlé Crenshaw. The panel uplifted the unsung genealogy of the Me Too movement by acknowledging forerunners like Tarana Burke, who coined the hashtag #MeToo to raise awareness around the question of Black women’s vulnerability to sexual violence, and Anita Hill, who told the world her story about what a Supreme Court nominee had done to her as a young lawyer. Black feminists like bell hooks and Alice Walker were recognized also for laying bare the realities of gender-based violence that impacts Black women. Tune into this profound and pathbreaking episode of Intersectionality Matters for a thorough post-mortem on the powerful insights shared on the panel, as well as a look into what the movement’s path forward might look like. History is written by the winners. Apparently biopics are written by the billionaire as the NWA movie, Straight Outta Compton, produced by Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, minimizes and marginalizes the contributions MC Ren made to the seminal rap group. Despite having writing or co-writing credits on 32 of 43 songs on the most significant NWA/NWA-related albums, the movie treats the Villain in Black like a central casting extra who just happened to be along for the ride ... and free Raiders' gear. And we also look at the reshaping of Dre's image, the blatant omission of any acknowledgement of his violence toward women, and MC Ren's reprehensible response to Dre's most violent assault. 01:13:09 — Dee Barnes
This week on the podcast, vacation is OVER and we're back to review new albums from indie-punks Titus Andronicus, who may be suffering a tragedy most lamentable, and Seattle surf-gaze quartet, La Luz's latest, Weirdo Shrine. But first: N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton is dominating the box office, but seems to have forgot some very important facts – specifically Dr. Dre’s vicious 1991 assault of journalist Dee Barnes. Is this just par for the course for bio-pics and entertainment “icons” or should we expect more from our “heroes” and maybe even ourselves? All this PLUS a new track from Iceland artist Prins Póló on Episode 129 of ChunkyGlasses: The Podcast! On tonight’s special edition of Scottscope Talk Radio, the roundtable will be discussing one of the most controversial aspects of N.W.A’s legacy: Misogyny. With the recently revived media furor over not only the groups but Dr. Dre’s history of domestic violence and assault, it is now pertinent to have a serious discussion about a topic that has been tabled for far too long. Panelist E-Hill will be on hand to offer her many insights on the subject. Throughout the discussion, a number of lingering and uncomfortable questions will be pondered. Should Dr. Dre’s assault on Dee Barnes have been included in ‘Straight Outta Compton’? What does it’s exclusion from the film say about Dr. Dre, N.W.A, and Hip-Hop as a whole? Is Dr. Dre being unfairly persecuted for past crimes? Are the film and its subjects being unfairly singled out for perpetuating a societal ill that has long been an integral part of American popular culture? Are the needs and lives of Black women being ignored so that male rap fans can indulge their ultra-violent anti-hero fantasies without hindrance? Why is America so hesitant to have this discussion?

A prophetic word to the CHURCH. Reminding us to finish the old business that WE might establish the new. A word for those who have "sired" former moves of God.
