Chasing Tone - Guitar Podcast About Gear, Effects, Amps and Tone
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 497 of the Chasing Tone Podcast!Brian's recorded a new theme tune for the show and the guys are excited to share it with everyone before looking at some artificial unintelligence developments. Richard is not impressed with the underlying robotic signature or something. Whatever. He also tries to add some structure to the show with a special feature and it falls a little flat. Maybe. What do you do with an LED with three legs? Richard needs some DIY advice and attempts to guess the weight of one of his co-hosts before coming up with a new product that frustrates Brian to the point of complete exasperation. This turns into a conversation about expensive cables and Brian has an idea. Gibson have launched some new amplifiers and at first glance the guys love the authenticity of them, but upon deeper delving, they discover some marketing quirks. It quickly degenerates into a mass of confusion which we can only assume is caused by Gibson absentmindedly forgetting to send the guys an amp to test. Brian and Richard had a sneak preview of the new Andy Wood album and tell us all about it. Foolish proclamations, Giant stereos, Eight Blakes, Distortion cables, Horsekicking contest, Seasoned salt...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Brian's new online courses are here:http://www.guitarpedalcourse.comAwesome Merch and DIY mods:https://modyourownpedal.com/collections/booksFind us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.comSupport the show

In an exciting development for Pokémon fans worldwide, The Pokémon Company, in collaboration with Yomiuri Land Co. and The Yomiuri Shimbun, has announced the creation of a new theme park within Yomiuriland, Tokyo's largest amusement park. This joint venture, named PokePark KANTO LLC, aims to bring a unique Pokémon experience to life in a natural setting. PokéPark Kanto is conceptualized as a place where visitors can immerse themselves in the Pokémon universe, surrounded by lush nature and various interactive events. This initiative aligns with the Pokémon brand's long-standing association with exploration and adventure in the natural world. The choice of 'Kanto' in the name is a tribute to the first Pokémon video games, "Pokémon Red" and "Pokémon Green," which were set in a fictional area named the Kanto region. This connection is further strengthened by Yomiuriland's location in the real Kanto region of Japan. This is not the first time Yomiuriland and The Pokémon Company have joined forces. Their previous collaboration, Pokémon WONDER, was a nature-focused outdoor adventure that allowed visitors to search for Pokémon in the park's natural landscape. While specific details about PokéPark Kanto's features are still under wraps, it's expected to build upon the success of Pokémon WONDER. Fans can anticipate a blend of nature and Pokémon-themed attractions, possibly including interactive experiences and events that celebrate the rich history and culture of Pokémon. PokéPark Kanto represents a significant step in bringing the Pokémon world to life, offering a unique blend of nature and fantasy. As details unfold, excitement among the Pokémon community is sure to grow, promising a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors of all ages. NEW MONTH. NEW THEME. OLD DESCRIPTOR. Last Wednesday, we dropped the first of our Failed Franchise movie episodes for December Jonah Hex for your fine Patreon folks. THE OVERWHELMING BURDEN OF PUTTING FOOD ON THE TABLE AND A ROOF OVER ONE'S HEAD DOESN'T END THE INSTANT THE DEALS ARE RATIFIED. IT COULD BE MONTHS BEFORE PRODUCTIONS GET UP TO SPEED AGAIN. THAT LEADS RIGHT INTO THE INDUSTRY'S USUAL WINTER/HOLIDAY HIATUS. WILL THAT BE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR? WHO KNOWS. BUT EVEN IF THEY WORK THROUGH THAT USUAL BREAK, MANY FAMILIES ARE GOING TO NEED ASSISTANCE. THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN HELP. NEW MONTH. NEW THEME. IT'S FAILED FRANCHISES. (OR LUMPS OF COAL IN YOUR STOCKING IF YOU'RE THE STUDIO EXECS THAT GREELIT THESE TITLES IN HOPES OF RAKING IN THAT PROVERBIAL IP CASH. We're starting off this month right with a movie neither of us had seen due to bad word of mouth, which we have both come to find these claims were unfounded. IT'S 2010's JONAH HEX with Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, Michael Fassbender, Wes Bentley, WIll Arnett, Lance Reddick, and John Malkovich. From IMDB: The U.S. military makes a scarred bounty hunter with warrants on his own head an offer he cannot refuse: in exchange for his freedom, he must stop a terrorist who is ready to unleash Hell on Earth. ENJOY! YES. SAG-AFTRA HAVE FINALLY JOINED THE WGA, AND HAS COME TO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE AMPTP. IT'S BEEN A VERY LONG AND UPHILL BATTLE FOR NOT JUST THE MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES OF BOTH UNIONS, IT HAS ALSO CAUSED A GREAT DEAL OF HARDSHIP FOR THE REST OF THE INDUSTRY'S PROFESSIONALS AND THEIR FAMILIES. BUT ALL ISN'T BACK TO NORMAL AND WON'T BE FOR SOME TIME. THESE WORKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE GOING TO BE STRUGGLING WHILE THE INDUSTRY STARTS REMEMBERING HOW TO WORK. THE OVERWHELMING BURDEN OF PUTTING FOOD ON THE TABLE AND A ROOF OVER ONE'S HEAD DOESN'T END WHEN THE DEALS ARE MADE OR EVEN RATIFIED. THE INDUSTRY'S USUAL HIATUS/SHUTDOWN IN DECEMBER IS MOST LIKELY GOING TO EXTEND ANY KIND OF BREAK FROM "NORMALCY" IN THE FREQUENCY OF WORK. IT COULD EVEN BE MONTHS INTO 2024 BEFORE PRODUCTIONS GET UP TO SPEED AGAIN. BUT EVEN IF THEY WORK THROUGH THAT USUAL "HOLIDAY HIATUS", FOR MANY FAMILIES THEY ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO NEED ASSISTANCE, EVEN IF THEY RETURN TO WORK. THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN HELP. NEW MONTH. NEW THEME. We're pumped for September's theme as we dive into some films that truly embody the nature of “the asshole”. ASSHOLES ON FILM is what we're slipping into and we're starting off with a movie chock full of assholes. Brimming with asshole cunts. We're discussing Martin McDonagh's worthy 2008 debut film “In Bruges” starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. Two hitmen are ordered to go to Bruge, Belgium and they're not sure why. One is enjoying the town and the other hates it. It's violent as hell and quite funny. Check it out first of you're curious. We're starting off ASSHOLES ON FILM with a gauntlet. A gauntlet of…assholes. I don't know. They pay me to type out these episode descriptions for them. The only thing is, I'm not allowed to type them at home. I have to go to this warehouse in North Nashville. There's a desk with an old laptop on it and only one working overhead lamp. Sometimes you hear what sounds like someone just outside hitting the ground with a chain. I'm not great at it but it's easy money. It pays my tv and streaming bill. This month we will study the Proverbs that talk about the power of our tongue. The tongue has the power to bring life or death, and the impact it has on those around us is tremendous! Today I discuss Proverbs 12:18 “The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” The Key Reflection Questions are: 1. Are your words giving life to the people around you? Do you encourage, build up, and restore? 2. What reckless words do you find yourself saying, if any, and think about where those words are stemming from? Is there bitterness, envy, anger, or sadness that you may need to tend to that is simmering? 3. Think about how you can intentionally bring healing into the lives of your family, friends, and people you don't know well? Think about this in terms of interacting with strangers; how can you be a peacemaker instead of a peacebreaker? 4. Think about the verse, Can both fresh water and saltwater flow from the same spring? We know this can not happen, but do you find this happening in your life? Are you praising God and cursing man? Thank you for listening! Let's be peacemakers in a world of peacebreakers! Universal is building its newest theme park in Frisco, on a piece of land that is part of a 2,500-acre development that will include the PGA of America headquarters, two golf courses, a campus of the University of North Texas, and thousands of homes. But how did Universal decide on a suburb 30 minutes north of Dallas for its new micro-park? Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney tells Baylee Friday, Universal came to the city with the idea. University of Texas at Dallas associate professor of public and nonprofit management James Harrington says the park is another example of the northern expansion of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and theme park expert and journalist Carly Caramanna explains that micro-parks are part of a new trend in the industry.
