La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
Delivered by Worley Pamilaran from Saint John Bosco Church in Archdiocese of Jakarta, Indonesia. Acts of the Apostles 12: 1-11; Rs psalm 34: 2-3.4-5.6-7.8-9; 2 Timothy 4: 6-8.17-18; Matthew 16: 13-19. TWO CHURCH DOOR HINGES Our meditation today has the theme: Two Church Door Hinges. There was a parish priest who was visiting his people far in the highlands, far from the local parish Church. He found in one of the mission stations a church door that was almost dislodged from where it hung. The main reason was because the two door hinges had already broken. If the two hinges dislodged completely, then the church door could no longer function as it should be. The priest spoke with the person in charge of the local station to immediately install new hinges and the church door would function again. The church cannot be left open because wild animals can enter and cause damages in it. But there were no shops in the village to buy the new hinges. If they had to buy, they must go to a city that takes about two days. However, the priest found in his bag two hinges already used. The two hinges were then attached to the church door, even though they were not uniform and not compatible with the church door. If we view and understand our Church from the spiritual perspective, which is the Poeple of God, we can describe two profiles who were the foundation of the Church, namely St. Peter and St Paul, with the two hinges of the church's door we have just illustrated. Since this holy Church was founded, these two apostles had played a very important role in making the Church's door to function properly. The assignment they received from Jesus Christ truly made them witnesses of the faith in God that was so genuine. Saints Peter and Paul had pioneered to us a genuine and dedicated faith to our Lord Jesus Christ. Peter was the key figure who united, strengthened and rooted our faith in Christ. His recognition of Jesus Christ is for us the very foundational faith professed on which the faith of the Church is recognized. Paul was a missionary and an inclusive man of the Church, which in essence gives us the value of universality of the Church. He testified that he had carried out that missionary duty to the ends of the earth, to the limits of this world. So the faith testimony of the two apostles to the end of their lives through their martyrdom in Rome, inspiresour Church a lifetime dedication and commitment to Christ to the end of her long journey of faith. We must also be able to follow the example of these two great apostles. Let's give our two thumbs up for Saints Peter and Paul, two thumbs up for each of us and all of us, all of which we always proud of. Let's pray. In the name of the Father ... O merciful and generous Lord, look upon us Your sons and daughters who learn from the example of Saints Peter and Paul about the precious commitment and dedication to You and the Church. May we be faithful in our faith to the limit that You want us to reach out. Glory to the Father ... There are consequneces for rebelling against God's will for His people. All of Israel, except Judah and Benjamin, rebelled against the rigthful king over them and went their own way. They suffered grave consequnces as a result. We will too if we do the same thing.

La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
Delivered by Father Peter Tukan, SDB from Salesian Don Bosco Gerak in Labuan Bajo, Diocese of Ruteng, Indonesia. Acts of the Apostles 4: 32-27; Rs psalm 93: 1ab.1c.5; John 3: 7-15 ONE HEART ONE SOUL Our meditation today has the theme: One Heart One Soul. The Italian expression of this sentence is "un solo cuore, una sola anima" or in Bahasa Indonesia usually said in two words "sehati sejiwa". The Acts of the Apostles in the first reading today tells us about the first Christian gatherings, as they committed themselves to follow Christ and one principle that bound them together as the Church or the Poeple of God, was the spirit of one heart one soul. An example for this can better explain about the spirit of one heart one soul of the early Church. People and families not from the circle of the apostles of Jesus put their belongings together under one management of the community. This manner served the creation of justice and equallity for all members of the Church. Meanwhile, the apostles themselves took responsibility in the teaching and preaching the Gospel, and building up spiritual bonding among the faithful. The immediate outcome of this was that the community and the Church became a lovely home for everyone. Each took care of one's neighbor so that the shortcomings would be avoided and the holiness was well preserved. This is the spirit of one heart one soul, and it indeed strengthens unity in the community. In other words, the spirit of one heart one soul reflects the virtue of balance. The heart represents a physical or biological part of the human body. So if we say we are of the same heart, it means that we have a concrete unity of different people, regardless of various categories such as young, old, fat, thin, black, white, short and other physical features. Different cultural backgrounds, races, languages, nations and so on indicate the real world where Jesus Christ directed His mission. To fulfill the will of the Father, He unites all people under the power of His Kingdom in the form of Christian fellowhip, and eventually to provide them salvation. The soul signifies life and consciousness that exist in the heart. The soul is the center of all human feelings and emotions. Energy of life and enthusiasm come out from the human soul. Without this element of soul, human heart and body are lifeless, no enthusiasm, and dead. So if we say we are one soul, it means that we have unity shared among brothers, sisters, friends with the same feelings, emotions, passion, and spiritual energy. When people from the same village and culture feel their similarities, when husband and wife experience the same emotions, or if the wife is treated unfairly by others and the husband's reaction followed, and there are many more examples, can give us assurance that one soul is so vital for living in the family and the community. So one heart one soul really speaks about the life of faith that needs balance of physical and spiritual elements. To Nicodemus, Jesus assured him that the Son of God sent from above, from the Father, is definitely full of Spirit. Only when people of the world accept, acknowledge and believe in Him, the physical reality of the faith in the world comes to complete it. This is in order to realize God's will to perfect our world. One heart one soul is a very real sign of our faith. Let's pray. In the name of the Father ... O Lord Jesus Christ, make our characteristic of one heart one soul becomes a reality in our lives at all times. Glory to the Father to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... In the name of the Father ... --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/media-la-porta/message
On this episode, we're going to answer a few questions from podcasters. We will cover income from ads, giving up on a dud podcast, what time is the best time to publish, and if you should have a co-host. SPONSORS FOR INCOME How soon is too soon to reach out to potential sponsors? My podcast is still young and I'm only getting about 200 downloads a week between YouTube and podcast platforms. -Landon THE CEILING If you have listened to Podcast Talent Coach for any length of time, you know I am not a fan of sponsors on your podcast. But, let me give you some facts and data to back that up. First, people are fleeing traditional media to escape the crazy, long commercial breaks. Radio has typically reached most of the population in the United States. In 1998, radio reached over 95% of Americans over the age of 12 each week. In 2011, that reach was down a bit to 93%. According to Neilsen Media Research, in 2020, that percentage dropped to 83%. The audience is getting fragmented. How many ads can you possibly include on your podcast. I listen to Marketing with Brendon Burchard. He has 3 or 4 minutes at the beginning, a few more in the middle and 3 or 4 again at the end. I skip them all. Even if he sells 12 commercials in his show, there is still a ceiling on the revenue he can generate. Why would you cap your revenue. But, that isn't even the most compelling reason to avoid ads and sponsors. CPM MINIMIZES YOUR INCOME This is the wrong strategy, because it is a race to the bottom for the cheapest rate. According to Influencer Marketing Hub, when it comes to podcast advertising, there are different ways that the pricing can be structured. Most commonly, it will be a fixed rate or calculated using the cost-per-mille (MEE-luh). CPM is cost per mille or cost per 1,000 listeners. According to AdvertiseCast.com, here are the average rates based on orders within AdvertiseCast's marketplace. Please note these are marketplace averages. As of today, 30-second CPM is $18. 60-second ad CPM is $25. According to Inside Radio, the average podcast CPM dropped 12% in January, 2023. This was not due to seasonality. This was down 12% compared to a year earlier. THE BETTER PATH Instead of wasting your time and spinning your wheels trying to find sponsors to pay you a few dollars for your ad, sell your own products or services. You could also look for affiliate relationships to generate money. Are you sick of not making the money your deserve? Did you launch a podcast hoping it would increase your influence, but heard nothing but crickets? Are you frustrated spending a lot of time, energy and money trying to get noticed with very little to show for it? You're not alone. The sad news is that most podcast journeys end before they ever get started. Many shows fade away by the 7th episode. In fact, studies show over 50% of all podcasts have stopped publishing new episodes. These stats definitely don't support your intentions to grow your reach, generate leads and enroll new clients!! I get it. Here's the secret, it's not what you know. It's who knows you. You won't get known using information alone. Artificial Intelligence now owns information. It's distrupting everything, and it's growing at lighting speed. It's your influence that will create your impact. And your impact creates your income … simply by BEING Authentically You. Need some advice (for context I have a very small podcast audiance like average 20 regular listeners) I'm about 19 episodes in and I just have a feeling the show may be a dud. My question isn't really about growth. I'm wondering what you do to get past the thoughts of just scrapping a show and starting fresh. -Michael Why are you doing the podcast? If you are trying to attract clients and generate income, focus on quality over quantity. Do you enjoy doing the podcast? If so, keep your head down and do the work for the first year. You can evaluate at that point. What are you doing to actively attract new listeners? You can't simply post on social media and email your list. Those people are already aware of your show. Find new audiences and invite them to the show. With 19 episodes, I imagine the show hasn't even had 5 months to build an audience. Your audience only grows with dedicated focus. Give it time, and build relationships. WHAT TIME? What time do you usually publish your podcast? I have a show 2-3 times per week and I generally have it scheduled to publish right after midnite (12:05am each time). I'm thinking that I'd probably be better off publising in the early morning (6 or 7am EST) -Patrick The time of day doesn't matter. One of the strengths podcasting enjoys is being on demand. Poeple listen when it is most convenient for them. Your podcast isn't like a television show that succeeds because it airs Thursdays at 8pm rather than Saturdays at 9pm. It is more important to be consistent. Be there at the same time every week. I listen to my favorite podcast every Saturday while I'm working around the house. He publishes that show on Fridays. I have no idea what time it is released on Fridays. And it doesn't matter. Changing the time won't get me to listen on Friday. My days is Saturday. Don't worry about the time. Just be consistent. Develop a habit in your audience. ALONE OR CO-HOST I've been going through a lot of back-and-forth about whether to do a podcast alone or have a co-host (or just have invited guests). I recorded myself this week just to see what it sounded like and it felt a little dry to have it just be me talking on the subject. Just wondering how you ultimately made a decision about this. -Rebecca One great thing about podcasting is flexibility. It is your show. If you want to change mid-stream, change. There are no rules that say if you do a solo show it must always be a solo show. Experiement with a few styles. Try a solo show. Bring in a co-host to see how it feels. Interview a few people to see if you like it. After 50 or 60 episodes, you'll get into a rhythm and discover which you like best. This podcast was a solo show for the first 275 episodes. It was then that I decided to start interviewing people. When you are doing a solo show, talk directly to your ideal listener. Have a conversation with that person. When you talk to your listener, it will give your show more energy and connect with your audience. You won't sound so flat. Don't feel like you are locked into one style or format. Change when you're ready to change. Above all, don't let it hold you back. If you don't have a mentor who can take your hand and walk you every step of the way, go to www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/apply, click the button and apply to have a chat with me. We will develop your plan and see how I can help and support you to achieve your podcast goals.

A word for the Poeple of God
Kyiv awoke to bombs, explosion and the sour smell of retaliation. Putin had spent his 70th birthday weekend watching his precious road bridge that linked Crimea to mainland Russia blown to pieces. And today was his fightback. Revenge served just two days cold. 75 missiles launched at targets across Ukraine. Poeple on their way to work. Parks, children's playgrounds all the seemingly pointless target of Putin's anger. In this episode I discuss the common reason why most people bounce back to where they started after spending weeks losing body fat. A very common theme in the world of fat loss is that people tend to follow a strategy that they can't keep up with. Poeple make temporary changes to reach a specfic health goal. I also drift off into the mentality you are going to need to actually make your life better. We need to stop blaming our environment, and start taking responsibilty.

Three more R's from Romans for 2022 “There's more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we're hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we're never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can't round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!” Romans 5:3-5 MSG What does it mean to shout when you are in trouble, well I've been reading the book the 1619 project and I'm the middle of the first chapter I was introduced to a Black historian I have never heard of and he was know for framing a period of time from 1877–1901. His name was Rayford W Logan and he came up with the term the The nadir of American race relations was the period in African-American history and the history of the United States from the end of Reconstruction in 1877 through the early 20th century, when racism in the country was more open and pronounced than it had been during any other period in the nation's history. During this period, African Americans lost many of the civil rights which they had gained during Reconstruction. Anti-black violence, lynchings, segregation, legal racial discrimination, and expressions of white supremacy all increased. I think this is important because it seems like we might be experiencing a similar back lash following the presidency of Barack Obama. Last January was not a mistake, the numbers of death in the African American community was not a coincidence and the fact that the rich got richer during Covid-19 and the poor got buried is not simple miscalculation. This current fight for voters rights and and living wages is not just a Hamilton jump shot in the air, American is differently facing a second Great Nadir. The question becomes what are we going to do about it, as the words oldest Poeple and the Sankofa team in play what becomes our role in society in general and as Africans in particular. I would like to suggest that the answer is in the word of God and I would like,to particularly point out the text in Romans 5. “Thus the wisdom of God, celebrated in Old Testament (see Prov. 8:2231) and New Testament (see Matt. 11:2527; I Cor. 1:1831; Rom. 11:3336) and identified by Jesus with God's Spirit (see John 16:1215) is expounded in this passage from Romans. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rev-hooker/support
