SUPPORT US! This is part one of our look back at 2023. From Palestine to a myriad of protests; from the climate crisis, to police terror, to the African Sahel: this year was a time of continuing and tremendous crisis for the world's global majority. And it was a time of resistance and for challenging U.S. empire like never before. When international human rights activist Issa Amro visited Washingon, DC in January 2023, dozens of Palestinians in the West Bank had already been murdered in the new year by IDF soldiers and illegal Jewish settlers. Also at the start of 2023, the brutal beating and murder of Tyre Nichols by Memphis police, captured on surveillance camera, reinforced the systemic nature of police abuse in the United States. This show also includes my conversation with 2016 GREEN party presidential candidate Jill Stein at the MARCH ON WASHINGTON FOR PEOPLE'S NEEDS, NOT THE WAR MACHINE March 18th 2023 near the White House. Those opposed to President Biden's approval of the Mountain Vally Pipeline rallied outside the White House on June 8. And this year "On the Ground" joined individuals and organizations around the United States and world in honoring the 125th birthday of the artist and revolutionary Paul Robeson. Voices: Issa Amro, the Rev. Al Sharpton, NeeNee Tay, Gerald Horne, Crystal Cavalier-Keck, Jason Crazy Bear Keck, archival audio of Paul Robeson. By Amy Goodman & Denis Moynihan Justice for Tyre Nichols and other Black victims of police violence ultimately relies on organized action from an informed citizenry. Black history needs not just to be a month, but taught every single day. Kids – and adults – need to learn the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

May the soul of Mr. Nichols find peace and may God avenge him. In light of the death of Tyre Nichols the conversation has turned to police reform. As of yet a system of white supremacy can not be reformed. I believe in justice. I believe what the bible say's about justice flowing like a mighty stream, but justice can't flow if there is a blockage. The blockage that keeps justice from flowing is the whore of public safety. There are too many safeguards and protections public employees have on the public safety and governmental side. There needs to bills and legislation that will aggressively go after retirement benefits if any public employee is convicted of a felony in a court of law. Taxpayers have flipped the bill for rogue public employees when they are on the streets, legislative hall, and even when they land behind bars. We as citizens need to follow the money trail. How can a government official and public employee keep their pensions when convicted of crimes? They keep it due to certain laws on the books and the unions that protect them. Too many times we have financed our own oppression through taxes.

A forest defender, Manuel Teran, AKA “Tortuguita" or "Tort," was shot and killed by police on Wednesday during a violent raid of the protest camp and community gathering space that has blocked construction of an enormous police training facility known as “Cop City” on roughly 100 acres of public forest in southeast Atlanta. Vigils for the murdered forest defender Tortuguita have taken place from Oakland to Minneapolis to Charlotte to Chicago. In Atlanta, activists held a vigil the night of the shooting and are planning a march on Saturday. Since June 2021, the Stop Cop City campaign (@defendatlforest) has resisted the construction of a police training facility and demolition of an urban forest. Through the campaign demonstrators have been pepper-sprayed, attacked, threatened and violently arrested by the police Last month, 5 protestors were arrested and charged with “domestic terrorism” On Wednesday, beside the murder of Tort, at least another 7 protestors were arrested and charged with “domestic terrorism.” In this episode, Scott talks with Micah (@micahinatl), an Atlanta-based organizer, about the situation in Atlanta. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Outro- Green and Red Blue Links// https://defendtheatlantaforest.org/ Atlanta solidarity fund (https://bit.ly/3kvpoAP) Cop City and the Prison Industrial Complex in Atlanta (http://bit.ly/3R1Xyby) The Bitter Southerner: Forest for the Trees (http://bit.ly/3HmgvlK) Follow Green and Red// G&R Linktree: https://linktr.ee/greenandredpodcast https://greenandredpodcast.org/ Vietnam 50 Years Later Labor Podcast Network// We've recently become a member of the Labor Podcast Network! In today's episode we talk with an Iranian dissident comrade about the political context that created the conditions for the waves of protests sweeping Iran in recent years. We start the discussion with a historical overview of the events that transformed Iran into a ‘militarized theocracy' after the Revolution of 1979, and what the main (state and non-state) actors are. Then we turn to the present moment. The current wave of protests was prompted by the murder of a young Kurdish woman, Mahsa Amini, by the “morality police”, for not wearing a hijab. Our guest explains what the so-called morality police is in Iran, and what the legal context is surrounding the imposition of wearing the hijab. The topics that we touch upon include the internet connectivity restrictions during the protests and the effects of internationally imposed sanctions. We end with a reflection on why things cannot go back to the way they were before the current wave of protests. ===== Report: How is Hijab in Tehran Today? WE TALK ABOUT IS HARD BEING SINGLE AND ANOTHER SENSELESS POLICE MURDER!!!
There's been plenty of fake outrage from left wing sports types about the horror of 10 Royals not taking the jab. The latest is a bold headline saying Whit Merrifield needs to go only to read butter soft copy where the writer says he likes him and believes what he says. Huh? Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh is pretty much nobody's favorite but he could be now. The coach is speaking to pro life groups and getting drilled for it. At the same time, AOC is doing Instagram publicity stunts over abortion and being praised a hero. Wow, we are lost. 32 year old Daniel Vasquez was killed on the job Tuesday after he stopped a car over and expired tag issue. This story is just tragic and a strong reminder why we should never tolerate or promote anti police uprisings around the country. And it's National Hot Dog Day and I'll have mine with chili and cheese. You? We ask you to tell us where the best dogs are.
There's been plenty of fake outrage and whining from leftists in sports media concerning the Royals ten players that haven't taken a jab and now the Star wants the Royals to trade Whit Merrifield. But they won't critically attack him and call him stupid, uninformed, dangerous and awful. No, the latest piece on him is the writer likes him, always has and believes everything he says. Hammer him or shut up. You've lost the argument. Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh is pretty much nobody's favorite but it's largely because he always says and does what he wants. Now his speaking to pro life groups and getting hammered for it. At the same time, AOC is doing Instagram publicity stunts faking like she's wearing handcuffs and being praised. Wow, are we lost. 32 year old Daniel Vasquez was killed on the job in NKC Tuesday after he stopped a car over an expired tags issue. On this day in labor history, the year was 1912.That was the day striking worker, Anna LoPizzo was shot and killed by local police during the pivotal Bread and Roses strike in Lawrence, Massachusetts. In what is considered one of the most important strikes in American labor history. The Industrial Workers of the World had organized a strike that brought out more than 30,000 textile mill workers at the American Woolen Company.Workers had been on strike for most of the month, picketing, marching, giving speeches and stopping scabs.Their banners demanded a living wage and dignity: Bread and Roses. That day, there were workers parades among pitched battles between strikers, police and scabs.Gunfire erupted.According to Big Bill Haywood, nineteen witnesses saw Police Officer Oscar Benoit shoot Anna LoPizzo. But the shooting provided the mill owners with an opportunity to crack down on the strike.Martial law was instituted and all public meetings and marches were banned. The leading IWW strike organizers, John Ettor and Arturo Giovannitti were arrested for her murder, despite the fact that they were two miles away from the scene.Though they were eventually acquitted, their imprisonment removed them from directing the day-to-day work of the strike. But who was Anna LoPizzo?According to Bruce Watson, author of Bread and Roses: Mills, Migrants, and the Struggle for the American Dream, “If America had a Tomb of the Unknown immigrant paying tribute to the millions of immigrants known only to God and distant cousins compiling family trees, Anna LoPizzo would be a prime candidate to lie in it.”And indeed she was for 88 years until retired IBEW 2321 business manager, David Morris worked to get a headstone, decorated with the Bread and Roses symbol–grain stalks and a rose, for her pauper's grave.-Want more #RickShow? Tri and Adnan speak to the murder of 20 year old son, father, and young adult Daunte Wright by firmly reinforcing the platform for why police reform is ruling class re-commodification of safety that sells itself as a universal good, yet persists in protecting only the quality of life of class-ascendant, exceedingly White-bodied peoples. In Minnesota, police reforms only spell the repackaged and prolonged dispossession of life and community-oriented protection and care of low-income, neocolonized peoples like Wright, Dolal Idd, Isak Aden, Fong Lee, Jamar Clark, Philando Castile, George Floyd, to only name a few of many people killed by the foot soldiers of MN state-sanctioned police violence.
